I’ve never written a review before, but the way we were treated and the service we received, I felt the need to warn others about the gross business practices of Brownlee.
First, they sent my fiancée renderings that he confirmed for a diamond ...setting. When he picked up the ring a month later, it was set incorrectly. He was told to wait 2 weeks for it to be fixed and again they presented the wrong setting. They managed to screw up a simple setting TWICE, forcing my brand new fiancée to proposed with the WRONG RING. Their mistake will forever be apart of our special moment.
What I’m actually writing this review for is how Brownlee’s management and owner handled our situation. There were a multitude of mistakes throughout our Brownlee experience, yet no one reached out to try and reconcile the situation. Even today when we were told the correct setting was done only to find out it wasn’t when we showed up, we had to specifically ask to speak to a manager before anyone even apologized.
We simply wanted half our money back ($850) for the months of frustration and a ruined proposal, and were originally told that they will make it right by NOT CHARGING US FOR THE TWO SETTINGS THEY MESSED UP! Are you serious?? Like of course we aren’t going to pay for your mistakes and it’s embarrassing to think that you’re doing US a solid by not charging us for the additional settings they had to do.
After several attempts to get ahold of the owner, he finally agreed to offer us a whopping $200 back. 11% of our original cost. $2.80 per day they had the diamond. In an attempt to save an extra $650, Brownlee lost our business for our wedding bands or any future purchase for that matter. The owner made several excuses and even said we were lucky that they set the diamond at all since we didn’t buy the diamond through them. Never communicated any of this up front by the way.
They made every excuse to justify how they handled the situation. I can understand staffing issues, communication errors, staff turnover, but the way you handle the situation when mistakes do happen determines how people view your business. Frankly, I went from being a life long customer to telling everyone I know NEVER to step foot in your store simply because you failed in every way to attempt to make it right when YOU are the ones who messed up every step of the way. The lack of accountability isn’t a good look babes.
