Went to have a battery installed in my Seiko watch and the gentleman shattered my watch Crystal when removing the back. So they replaced it with an aftermarket Crystal and gave me my watch back a week later scratched so bad on the back of the watch face that I don’t think I could anyone else could get it off if they tried. Disappointed and would not recommend taking your watch to the Rock Hill location.
Check here for the blatant racism exhibited by these folks. https://www.tiktok.com/t/ZTRHVawA5/
I’ve never written a review before, but the way we were treated and the service we received, I felt the need to warn others about the gross business practices of Brownlee.
First, they sent my fiancée renderings that he confirmed for a diamond setting. When he picked up the ring a month later, it was set incorrectly. He was told to wait 2 weeks for it to be fixed and again they presented the wrong setting. They managed to screw up a simple setting TWICE, forcing my brand new fiancée to proposed with the WRONG RING. Their mistake will forever be apart of our special moment.
What I’m actually writing this review for is how Brownlee’s management and owner handled our situation. There were a multitude of mistakes throughout our Brownlee experience, yet no one reached out to try and reconcile the situation. Even today when we were told the correct setting was done only to find out it wasn’t when we showed up, we had to specifically ask to speak to a manager before anyone even apologized.
We simply wanted half our money back ($850) for the months of frustration and a ruined proposal, and were originally told that they will make it right by NOT CHARGING US FOR THE TWO SETTINGS THEY MESSED UP! Are you serious?? Like of course we aren’t going to pay for your mistakes and it’s embarrassing to think that you’re doing US a solid by not charging us for the additional settings they had to do.
After several attempts to get ahold of the owner, he finally agreed to offer us a whopping $200 back. 11% of our original cost. $2.80 per day they had the diamond. In an attempt to save an extra $650, Brownlee lost our business for our wedding bands or any future purchase for that matter. The owner made several excuses and even said we were lucky that they set the diamond at all since we didn’t buy the diamond through them. Never communicated any of this up front by the way.
They made every excuse to justify how they handled the situation. I can understand staffing issues, communication errors, staff turnover, but the way you handle the situation when mistakes do happen determines how people view your business. Frankly, I went from being a life long customer to telling everyone I know NEVER to step foot in your store simply because you failed in every way to attempt to make it right when YOU are the ones who messed up every step of the way. The lack of accountability isn’t a good look babes.
Brownlee Jewelers is without a doubt the worst experience I have had with any sort of company in my entire life. With over 2 months to spare, I brought them a diamond and agreed on a setting they rendered for me. Over the 2 months, they constantly would leave me in the dark, "systems would go down", and mess up my setting not once but twice. What was once plenty of time to spare led me to driving the day before my proposal (skipping work) to pick up my "correct" setting to find out that the setting was indeed wrong again. At that point, all my plans were in place and I was forced to propose with the wrong ring. I had to explain to her and everyone in my life that the setting was wrong and would be fixed. That leads me to today, almost a month later where they finally got the setting right and I have to force my new fiance to give up her ring for a whole day to get set. Absolutely ridiculous that a setting takes a whole day, especially after months of trying to get it right. I don't care if Brownlee Jewelers gives me a million dollars, I will never EVER do business there again. They are a disgrace to any shopping center or mall they have a store in. Zero accountability, zero customer service, and negative reliability. I could write a whole trilogy of New York Times best-seller novels with how infuriated they make me. STAY AWAY
I would recommend going to Brownlee Jewelers if you are at the end of a long road trip and need to take a massive shit otherwise stay away you can set a diamond better than they can.
Loved my ring my fiancée picked out . The staff did a great job helping him pick the perfect one
My husband purchased my engagement ring from Brownlee in Rock Hill, SC. We went back to purchase both of our wedding bands from there as well. Melanie the manager is amazing. She is extremely knowledgeable and very helpful always. My rings are perfect and so was our service from the Rock Hill Brownlee!
