Butter + Salt

Butter + Salt catered our wedding this past weekend in Tahoe and did an incredible job. We gave them some guidelines on the menu but really left a lot of room for creativity and they rose to the occasion. When we arrived at their beautiful kitchen space for our tasting a few months ago we were blown away by the food itself as well as the presentation. And when they scaled it up to 185 servings for our guests this past weekend there was no change in quality. Everything was perfect from the bite sized beef Wellington appetizers (our only specific request!) to the ice cream and cookie bar. Friends in the culinary industry commented that ours was the best wedding meal they’d had, which is a testament to Tyler & Aubrey’s work. A special shoutout to the wait staff who are also top notch. They went out of their way to make sure the bride & groom got appetizers despite us missing most of the cocktail hour for photos. And we witnessed them proactively seeking out and talking through the menu with guests who have dietary restrictions or allergies. SO thankful for the whole team!

Butter and Salt catered our wedding in Sacramento a few weeks ago and if we could give them 10 stars we would! Aubrey, Tyler, and Jordan, plus their entire service staff, were such a pleasure to work with and their food is AMAZING! When my husband and I were planning our wedding, we knew we wanted our guests to leave our wedding feeling like the food was phenomenal. We are both really into farm-fresh ingredients and when we found Butter and Salt, I knew they would be perfect for our wedding. When we did our tasting, their cooking absolutely blew us away. And, they traveled all the way to Sacramento to do a tasting for us, which we truly appreciated because our schedules were so crazy. We loved the way they design their menus-- they asked us a lot of questions about our backgrounds, where we like to travel as a couple, what our favorite foods are, and came up with a truly unique menu. I think we only tweaked one or two things and we absolutely loved what they created. Our wedding was on a very hot day in Sacramento, and we asked for ice cream cones. Well, Tyler created this special ice-cream stand (think minimal rustic wood) for their homemade ice creams and handmade cones. Our guests were raving about it! Other highlights on the menu were the sliders (OMG amazing), corn fritters, grilled steak with chimichurri sauce, smashed potatoes (those may have been the most popular item of the night, other than the ice cream) with avocado aioli, watermelon, cucumber, and tomato salad, small hand pies to go with the ice cream...I could go on and on. They use only the best ingredients, and they treat weddings like they would any other dinner, which is what you want to experience at every wedding but usually don't because it's hard to have that kind of quality in catered food. And, their presentations and service is phenomenal. We also worked quite a bit in planning the wedding with Jordan, who is Tyler's sister and who does coordination for Butter and Salt. Jordan was so generous with her time and so organized and easy to work with. She ended up creating hand-lettered signs for our wedding (her calligraphy is beautiful!) including a gorgeous giant menu that we hung from the side of the barn where we got married. (My husband's parents saved it and have it hanging in their home because they love it so much!) She is truly an artist and it was so much fun to work with her and come up with a creative plan for the dinner service. As a team, Butter and Salt is incredible! My husband and I are already thinking of other occasions that we could use their services again! I most highly recommend them! We would give them 6 stars if we could!

Butter + Salt is not your typical wedding caterer. They are they are an amazing group of chefs and event planners who really wanted make our wedding meal memorable. We got married in South Lake Tahoe, Summer 2016. Due to our busy schedule, we never even tasted their food until our wedding. After our first meeting with them, we trusted they would be amazing. They had such a wonderful energy and real passion for good food. From more formal sit down dinners to more casual family style gatherings they offered so many different options. They can also make anything you want! Literally, they said to us "what do you like to eat, we can make anything". They honestly could have just made us macaroni and cheese and it probably would have been the most scrumptious thing we ever tasted. No pressure if you you have a tough time coming up with your own menu, they have plenty of ideas and sample menus. All the food they made us was sooo delicious. We got to have a little of everything - savory appetizers, late night snacks, and the most amazing sweet tea brined fried chicken. You may not pick to have fried chicken at a wedding, but this was incredible, so you should consider it. Even my family from the mid-west said it was the best fried chicken they ever had. And we actually got to eat at our wedding. They made sure of it! They also had a great relationship with all of our Tahoe vendors which made wedding planning smoother. And they are not restricted to wedding catering. They host all types of events. They are so involved with the culinary scene in Northern California and Reno, which speaks to their true passion. Aubrey, Tyler, Jordan and the rest of their staff are so talented, artistic, and just all around very cool people to have be involved with your wedding day!

The team at Butter + Salt are amazing! There's no better word to describe their talent, dedication and awesomeness. We actually planned our wedding around their availability and we are so glad we did! The food was tasty, beautiful and unique. Our guests still talk about the delightful food at our wedding. And they did a fantastic job of working with us to meet all our various dietary quirks (from meat-lovers to gluten-free vegans) with delectable and inspiring dishes. Our couples cocktails were epic, too! Whenever we see roasted carrots, we remark on how they might be good, but not as good as the ones at our wedding. The servers and bar-tenders were friendly and attentive and lovely. And the wedding planner, Jordan, is simply put, the BEST decision I made throughout the whole process (besides marrying my husband)! I was nervous about getting married with all the planning involved and she brought so much fun, confidence, knowledge and boundless energy to our planning process. Jordan is resourceful, creative, quick-thinking and was a joy to meet with. She made planning our wedding so enjoyable instead of stressful. And the day-of, well, she was amazing. I don't know what I would've done without her. I wholeheartedly recommend Butter + Salt for all your wedding needs. We are so grateful for their dedication, passion and talent at our big day. <3

I don't know where to begin or how to even express how happy we were we hired Butter and Salt Gatherings to cater our destination wedding in Lake Tahoe May 28,2016. Delicious food was probably one of my top priorities when planning our wedding as it is very important to our families. I grew up Italian so a family style dinner was the way to go! Aubrey and Tyler cooked for us for three days. They did a welcome BBQ style dinner for our immediate a families when we arrived, catered our 75 person wedding, and even came back the next day to cook our guests a yummy brunch with Mimosa and Bloody Mary bar. It was all so perfect and delicious. Though I can not imagine the amount of work that goes in to this...they somehow made it all seam so effortless. I felt constantly at ease throughout the week leading up to my wedding, knowing it would be the best wedding food ever. It was not only the best wedding food I have eaten but some of the best food of our lives. Our guests were blown away. Aubrey and Tyler are so professional, organized, accommodating and overall just the most amazing people to work with. I wish we lived near them so we could hire them for more parties. If you are getting married or having an event anywhere in the Reno/ Lake Tahoe/California area then you need to hire them. No other way to go. Ten stars!!!

Finding the right caterer was very important to both my husband and I. Being that we both appreciate wonderful food, and the fact that I work in the hospitality industry, this was a big decision. From our first interaction and correspondence, Aubrey and Taylor were exceptional. Their timeliness and flexibility were key. As soon as we had our tasting, we knew the food at our wedding was going to be incredible. For our wedding, we requested a family style dinner. Working hand in hand with Butter+Salt we created a stellar menu for our 110 guests. Their preparation, execution and thoroughness were second to none. All our guests enjoyed the food, from the beginning to the end. B+S's staff on the day of the event were polite, smiling and efficient. Nothing was left to chance. I would highly recommend Aubrey and Tyler and all the staff at Butter + Salt for all your catering needs.

Aubrey & Tyler are amazing. Everything was perfect from there communication and promptness of reply's to dealing with both family's differing taste palates and making the menu Celiac friendly. They were preparing in the room next to us in almost silence at times we wondered if they were still there. The food was incredible, a massive hit with everyone. We cant thank them enough for everything

After having a terrible/stressful experience with another caterer while trying to plan my wedding from out of state I decided to send an email to Butter & Salt after swooning over their photos on Instagram. I AM SO HAPPY I DID. Aubrey replied to me the same day! They were not on the list of "approved" caterers at our venue but Aubrey and Tyler went out of their way to complete the necessary paperwork for our wedding. We had an outdoor brunch wedding with salad & passed appetizers. The food was beyond beautiful and delicious. We got so many compliments from our guests and many wanted their business card for future events! Aubrey made my vision come to life even though we mainly communicated through email, and they didn't hesitate when I had to make a VERY last minute change to my menu. Aubrey, Tyler, and the rest of the team are so kind and professional from the first conversation to the cleaning up after the event. They also made our wedding cakes!! If you are having an event contact Butter & Salt but do it quickly as I am SURE these amazing chefs are booking up! Thank you all for making our wedding day perfect.

We are so happy we chose Butter + Salt as our caterer for our big day. After trying to get in contact with a different caterer for several weeks, we decided to reach out to Butter + Salt after seeing some of their beautiful food on Facebook. It was so refreshing to get a reply e-mail back the same evening after reaching out to them! After letting them know we wanted light, summer dishes for our wedding dinner they created the most wonderful menu that we couldn't describe, but was exactly what we were thinking. They were also very optimistic about our ideas (place settings and buffet) and willing to work within our budget. We live out of town, but Aubrey & Tyler made time to meet with me while I was in Reno for a weekend to go over details a couple months out from the wedding. It really made me feel at ease that they were preparing for our big day so far in advance! The wedding day came, and I watched them from my getting ready room as they setup their own tent (with privacy screens!), started grilling the food, and even folded napkins for the place settings. It wasn’t your typical buffet with those silver hot plates that you see at all buffets; it was the most beautiful buffet I’ve seen with their own little touches! They even surprised us by putting bacon in the cornbread (which was so yummy)! They went around the tables to fill guests’ water glasses (which I wasn't expecting them to do), clean and they even served the cake to all of our guests. They were still at our venue at the very end of the night to do their job exactly as they promised. We received so many compliments from our guests on the food, and I was happy to finally eat the dream dinner that I had been waiting months for! My husband loved the corn & orzo pasta! Aubrey, Tyler and their staff were such a pleasure to work with and we thank them for making our wedding day even more special with their delicious food and awesome service! I am honored to be their first wedding of the season and I definitely plan to be in touch with them for future showers and parties :-)
