First, driving from the west side for a cake tasting, I showed up at her shop, and she was not there. After calling her, she stated she had the date set for the following day (I looked back through our e-mails, and I had the correct date and time). She asked us to wait around, and she would be there as soon as possible for the tasting. The tasting went well, and we loved the cake/ frosting combos we decided on. I am a baker and was looking forward to my wedding cake! Moving forward, my day of coordinator had to reach out to Jodi multiple times and did not get call-backs or responses until the day before the wedding. The cake arrived and looked beautiful. After the cake cutting, I realized the cake I received was NOT the cake I ordered. I had ordered two flavors for a three-tier cake and received three different flavors. Furthermore, the cake tasted nothing like the tasting. Multiple guests stated that the frosting tasted like a slab of butter. I was so dissapointed. I reached out to Jodi following the wedding, sending pictures of the cut cake. She responded by saying she "remembered" us loving the flavor combination we did not choose and was sure it was correct. However, she stated we chose two flavors (one of which I did not choose), and I received three - so even based on her "record," she messed up. She asked how to make it right and when i responded, I never heard from her again. Don't trust your wedding cake to cake chic.
Back in May of 2021, I reached out to Jodi to make a cake and cupcakes for my wedding. We sent photos of what we wanted, and Jodi agreed to that. We paid her and I checked back in with her on 9/8 to make sure we are still good for her arrival time of 2-3PM on 9/18. She asked again my flavor choice and color scheme. We had already talked about this the day we hired her to make our cake. The cake is not at all what I had asked for and she agreed to recreate for us. She showed up dropped off and left. I am really disappointed that what I ordered and sent photos of what I wanted is clearly not what was delivered. I would not recommend this bakery. photos attached of what we asked for and what we received. Also have email timeline of what was agreed upon. The owner should give a refund as this is clearly their mistake, but instead the owner wants to tell me I made changes 11 days before my wedding day. Not at all what happened and I do have emails from Jodi and what was said.
We loved working with Jodi! She was very organized, offered a discount for paying the full price up front, and provided an AMAZING tasting of cake and frosting options for us to sample. I’m a brownie girl, and she offers a brownie bar option which showcased a bit of my personality in our dessert choices. Our wedding cake was delicious and she incorporated some of our flowers into the decor which was beautiful! Highly recommend!
Jodi made the most beautiful cake and macron tower for our wedding! It was so delicious and even more stunning than we ever imagined. We would highly recommend Jodi and her team at Cake Chic Studios!
TL;DR: Groom's cake never delivered to rehearsal, cosmetic issues with wedding cake, bride couldn't eat cake (allergen-free flavor wasn't put on cake), voiced issues with Jodi, never received refund we were promised and was eventually ghosted by Jodi
Backstory: We had an enchanted forest/fairy/moss theme. Our bridal party wore deep purple or teal. We live 2.5 hours away from where our wedding venue. We had 3 requests for the cake: 1 layer must be gluten and dairy free (I have food allergies), incorporate a woodland stencil, and only use fondant on the stencil layer (we're not fans of the stuff but knew it was needed for the stencil). Beyond these requests, we planned to rely on the bakery for guidance on making an elegant cake that still fit our theme.
What went wrong: Our first cake-tasting appointment was canceled, and we didn't find out until we had driven to Wenatchee - there was no email or phone call to let us know. We ordered a grooms cake that was not delivered for the Rehearsal Dinner as planned. The flowers on the cake were supposed to cascade between the layers to break up the green. There was fondant on all the layers. The green portions are her "moss effect" - It's really uneven to the point where you can see the cake below poking through. If you look at the stencil, some details are missing and the proportions are off - example the rabbit is bigger than the deer. There are small holes/pock marks on the cake, which she blamed on our guests (Our guests would never do this, and it wouldn't have been possible due to the timeline. The cake was dropped off before the reception, and a picture was taken for proof of delivery. The pock marks are present in this proving photo). That "baby blue" on the bottom layer, was supposed to be a lot closer to white - we never asked for a bright baby blue. But, the biggest issue of all: I COULDN'T EAT MY CAKE! The allergen-free cake I picked out at the tasting wasn't on our cake!! We had people come up to us who have worked with her in the past, and honestly didn't believe us when we said our cake came from Cake Chic.
The results: In the beginning of July, I voiced all of these issues and concerns to her, and she offered me a partial refund (X%). Being reasonable people, we didn't press for the remaining (Y%) because ultimately, she did put time and materials into making something on our behalf. It is now the beginning of December and WE STILL HAVEN'T RECEIVED THE REFUND!! I have left multiple emails, and even tried calling. Her responses went from being rude/catty to now non-existent (haven't heard from her since September). At one point I was accused of having never wanted to pay for the cake in the first place. Of course this isn't true; if I was able to eat my cake, if our grooms cake had shown up, then a refund wouldn't have been necessary, because I would have received the service that we paid for.
I ordered a cake from this place in high Hope's that I would get what I asked for for my wedding day and was very very displeased with what I got and the service I got after I reached out to them that my cake was not what I asked for. When they delivered the cake they took off so fast that I couldn't even confront them with what they gave me. The colors of the flowers that I paid extra for were the wrong color and the Rose's were really small and already wilted and when I reached out to the owner or manager after my wedding she said that she noticed they were the wrong color and said she tried to go to a flower place to get new flowers but had no luck because it was mothers day weekend. It was not mothers day weekend June 10th was not mothers day. So instead of calling me and letting me know what happened they stuck ugly white wilted Rose's on a white cake. I asked for the whole cake to be piped like the picture and they did not add any piping. Two of the 3 tears were supposed to be a chocolate cake with chocolate frosting and a fudgy filling and I did not get that. I got a chocolate cake with white frosting and the same white filling. All of this was talked about through email so there is no excuse to miss it. When I called to confront them about all of the issues no one answered so I left a message to call me back. Instead of calling me back they wrote me a very long email and part of the email said they didnt have time to call me. After I pointed out the fact that they still didnt even try to call to apologize she said she was busy again but had enough time to write another long email. If this was my business and I had an unhappy customer I would make time to call them and take 30 seconds out of my life to say sorry over the phone instead of email. I do not recommend this place to anyone. They did give me some money back but not enough for the service I got and eveyething that was wrong. This was my wedding day and for paying over $500 for a cake you should get the best or at least a sincere apology.
To be honest, I was pretty disappointed in my wedding cake. They post beautiful photos of cakes on their site and social media pages, so I expected something amazing. We met twice with the owner to make sure all of the details were right, and when I saw the cake at the wedding it was not what we were expecting. We wanted ombre blush colored tiers, and the tiers were so light they all looked white. The detailing on the tiers were a little uneven and kind of looked like they were done in a rush. We made sure that the bottom tier would be gold glitter - and it was not. After they assembled it, it was also leaning slightly which made it look less impressive in pictures. Although it tasted amazing, it just wasn't worth the $1,200 we spent on it.
Jodi made the cake for my wedding last weekend. Not only was it STUNNING, all three flavors were truly divine. In addition to the fact that this cake was a success, she is SO sweet and easy to work with. She made the whole process stress-free for me. I will recommend her again and again!!
We had Cake Chic make the cupcakes for our wedding. They were beautiful and delicious! She also delivered and set up all 300 cupcakes for our garden wedding. Thank you, Jodi!
Jodi did a wonderful job with our cake and cupcakes. They were delicious and gone by the end of the night.
Cake Chic made the perfect addition to our wedding day! They are easy to work with, very caring, priced great, and all their creations are delicious. We had three different mini pies and they were able to help a desperate bride out last minute and make it work and really take the stress away. We received so many compliments and there wasn't any leftovers which is always a great sign. Jodi was absolutely wonderful to work with and I would definitely use her again for other special events. I was so thankful for her help and the desserts were a hit!
We had so much fun picking out the flavors of our wedding cupcakes! We got 5 different ones and had a great experience. We are still getting compliments on the variety and how great they were. I highly recommend this place so many options to explore!
