My son and daughter in law were married at Camp Twin Creeks in Marlinton, West Virginia. Their "vision" was to have a fun, informal, and relaxed weekend wedding celebration.
The camp can sleep over 300, so we had no trouble with our 120 guests. It is a camp, so there will be no room service, no towel service at the pool and no mint on your pillow. There will be zip lines, swimming, fishing, canoeing, archery, trampolines and a water slide. You could also play kickball, basketball, floor hockey, tennis, and whatever you choose. There will also be camp fires, s'mores, corn holes, and a ton of memories. The cabins are rustic. The showers are rustic, but it's a camp! There was a linen fee and a cabin fee, but it was very reasonable. Certainly less expensive than a hotel. Those guests who chose to go hard core and bring tents and sleeping bags were welcome to do so.
The words "we won't be able to do that" never once were said. The staff at the camp headed by Director Iain McClements were unbelievably cooperative, pleasant and efficient. They were very flexible and willing to facilitate last minute requests and changes. They set up tables and chairs anywhere we asked and then moved them to different venues for various activities. The sadist in me even requested that they play reveille in the morning to wake up the camp!
The camp staff assisted us in putting up decorations. It is amazing what some lighting and flowers can do.
The camp kitchen staff provided breakfasts, lunches and snacks. They were also prepared to provide the reception meal, but we had made other arrangements. I have to admit that i was skeptical about trying to pull off a wedding at a camp, but i truly cannot remember having more fun at a wedding and the cost was less than securing a banquet room at a good hotel.
The camp is remote and took some logistical coordination to pull off the wedding. We hired food trucks from the area to provide the rehearsal dinner. There is zero cell phone service, which was actually a plus. People actually talked with each other and did not have their faces buried in their cell phones, kids played outside and tired themselves out participating in really fun activities.
The camp is also available for corporate retreats, reunions and group outings.
Thanks to Camp Twin Creeks we had a fun and memorable wedding weekend that our family and guests will be talking about for a long time!
I attended a wedding here a few years ago and it was fabulous. If you are looking for an outdoor venue (with emergency indoor options) this is the place for you! The landscape is breathtaking and absolutely gorgeous. Also, I have never seen such helpful and accommodating staff!
I attended a wedding at Camp Twin Creeks and was blown away by the venue. The property is beautiful and extremely private, which was ideal for such a large group. The camp's facilities were wonderful - we spent the weekend kayaking, swimming, and hiking. We stayed in cabins onsite, which made the weekend extremely affordable. All in all, it was a fun-filled weekend at a beautiful place - I highly recommend Camp Twin Creeks as a wedding venue!
As the Maid of Honor at a wedding at Camp Twin Creeks, I constantly balanced between wedding organizer, guest welcomer, bride soother, & decorator..but the venue at CampTC made the experience so AMAZING and enjoyable! All the guests all night continued to say this was the BEST wedding they'd ever been to in 30+yrs. For everyone present it was a beautiful and memorable wedding. Thank you to the staff at Camp Twin Creeks who were so accommodating and thoughtful! Your camp is the perfect place for a WV wedding!!
Camp Twin Creeks was a stunning location for our wedding! Everything I wanted and more. Beautiful outdoor ceremony, white tent reception, flexible staff, very helpful with wedding coordination details, and more. Our guests stayed in the cabins on camp. We really felt like we spent quality time with our friends and family! Was like having a resort all to us! Wonderful wedding experience. :)
