We hired Candy + Co for original 2021 date and Candy, the owner, and Alana, our planner, were both incredibly professional through the bumps of pushing back a year due to COVID as well as fully changing the ceremony location from our original plan. I don't know what we would have done without Alana on the big day. She made it so easy for us to arrive, get married, and enjoy every second of it. The monthly checklists and emails leading up our wedding were indispensable to getting everything ready. I hope to be work them again to plan a future party!
Planning a wedding is an extremely daunting task, but planning a wedding during a pandemic, and all the uncertainties associated with it, was full-on panic inducing. Thankfully, we had Candy to work with, who’s attention to detail, enthusiasm, creativity, responsiveness, commitment to diversity, and experience really helped us manage our anxieties. Candy was with us throughout the entire planning process, breaking up all the major tasks by month so that the planning was manageable and easy. She referred us to great vendors that were specific to our needs and gave us fantastic tips on how to pick vendors and negotiate with them on contracts. She met with us regularly to discuss how to approach certain tasks, such as how to choose the right decorations, what to do if we didn’t want to have flowers, or how to prepare a ceremony that incorporated all our cultural traditions and values. Candy also worked with us closely to brainstorm all the little details to ensure that our wedding was not-formulaic and stayed true to us, our experience as a couple, and our values, so that we didn’t just have a generic, cookie-cutter wedding. Finally, Candy worked with us individually to help us plan the details in the ceremony so we could surprise one another, such as with a surprise song.
By the time our wedding rolled around a year later, on our wedding day our work was done and all we had to focus on was enjoying the ceremony and our day together. Behind the scenes, we could see that Candy made the effort to work closely with all our vendors and guests to make for a very smooth day. Moreover, Candy was extremely respectful and cognizant of safety in light of the pandemic, and enforced a very detailed plan to ensure masking and social distancing were maintained during our wedding, without sacrificing the specialness of the day.
Most importantly, we really appreciated how warm, unflappable, and professional Candy was during the entire planning process. Candy always put our needs first and was persistent with unresponsive vendors, making sure they responded to us so we were not overly anxious during any parts of the planning process. During our venue walkthrough, we watched in horror as the venue manager tried to mansplain to Candy about how to put together the wedding ceremony. Despite the patronizing and disrespectful conflict our venue manager created, Candy kept her cool, diffused the situation, and worked to make sure our needs were the first priority. In spite of the ever changing plans for our wedding, Candy was there with us every step of the way and made our day exactly what we wanted and amazing. We highly and enthusiastically recommend Candy for any of your event planning needs.
We initially started working with Candy to plan a 200-person ballroom bash for 2021. It was love-at-first meeting for us + Candy. Candy was tremendously knowledgeable, insightful, full of creative ideas, and most of all she was a person we really clicked with on a human level. Candy was always thinking of us, even though our wedding was more than a year away when we first started collaborating. Then COVID hit. Candy pivoted in the most incredible way to helping us plan a tiny, 12-person/immediate-family only backyard gathering. Oh, and all of this with about 3-4 weeks of notice. Candy was in incredible action mode -- I have honestly never met anyone who is so on top of things. Me and my husband were overwhelmed and Candy walked us through every step of the way. Most importantly during this time, she prioritized safety above all and ensured our event was not only magical, beautiful, wondrous -- but also safe for us, our families and our vendors. The day-of could not have felt more smooth and perfect, but that's only because Candy took care of literally everything behind the scenes. I can't highly enough recommend working with Candy, she is the BEST!
My wife and I were initially on the fence about whether or not to hire a planner for our wedding. Generally, we planned to make a lot of the decisions about our day on our own and we did have a vision for how we wanted things to go. We finally decided a coordinator might be something to look into to help keep everything organized and together. We interviewed a few and as soon as we spoke to Candy we knew we found the right person and that it would be worth the spend. Our instincts were more than correct. As a couple in the LGBT community Candy made us feel completely comfortable and at ease throughout the entire process. She stepped in and helped coordinate a few months prior to our wedding date and never once balked at answering the questions we threw her way.
At our walk through she helped us to tie our vision together and did conference calls with our caterer and various vendors to make sure we were all on the same page. The night before our wedding we still had a few reservations/concerns about a different vendor and immediately she said "I will handle it" and she absolutely did.
Our day of experience was amazing. I think our maids of honor probably know even better than we do all that went on behind the scenes but I do know Candy along with the people she brought with her:
-Helped to set up our center pieces and made our reception space that was very DIY look AMAZING.
- Helped smooth over and coordinate an emergency situation that arose with our hair & makeup vendors.
- Got us through a power outage situation at the time of the ceremony that my wife and I only found out about weeks later (they were so good, we did not worry or even notice this happened at the time).
- Helped coordinate a surprise outfit change - My wife wore a dress to the ceremony and had a custom made suit for the reception.
- Advised us on how to cut our cake and timing for a speech to thank everyone. Even suggested a "mic drop" on the fly that ended up being a great memory.
- Managed cleaning at the end of the night leaving us with our gifts nicely packaged and rose petals spread on our bed.
I could go on and on. At every turn Candy put us at ease and I though everything did not go "perfectly" on our wedding day I felt like it was perfect.
Candy & Co. was a huge part of that and I am so glad we made the decision to hire them!
As the Maid of Honor at my sisters wedding, there were about 5 million things to do before they said ‘I do’. Candy and her team were there every step of the way to make the day perfect and to deal with any bumps that popped up along the way. I cannot thank her enough for making my sisters wedding day perfect. She is a miracle worker! She dealt with everything from power outages to tornado warnings and never missed a beat. Thank you so much for a perfect day!
We worked with Candy and Kaitlin for our wedding and reception. Candy handled the "day-of" coordination from about 2+ months before our wedding. She supported us through some tough discussions with our reception venue and made sure everything was very organized and went smoothly on our special day. Kaitlin was at the venue making sure everything was set up (or re-set up as the case was) correctly. We were so happy we hired Candy+Co. and would make the same decision again. We recommend Candy and her team to anyone--the sooner the better!
Marital Mastermind Bayleigh Butterbrodt and Nuptial Ninja Candy Borales of Candy + Co Events provided us with expert planning guidance and day-of-wedding coordination for our 22 April 2017 wedding celebration at Capon Springs & Farms in Capon Springs, West Virginia. When we began engaging with Bayleigh and Candy in January 2017, our goal was to host a wedding ceremony and reception at Capon Springs that brought together our friends and family from across the country and the globe, merged elements of our two cultures (colorful India and rustic West Virginia), and coordinated talented vendors across West Virginia and the Washington, D.C. area. From our first meeting with Bayleigh, we instantly knew that Candy + Co was the right team to assist us in making our dream come true! Bayleigh and Candy immediately provided us with invaluable planning tools to assist us in organizing our checklist, contacts, budget, portrait options, music selections, transportation, and flowers and décor. Throughout the planning process, Bayleigh and Candy leveraged their expertise to provide us with phenomenal suggestions and answers for every question we came across. Beginning six weeks out from the wedding date, Bayleigh coordinated communication and planning among all our vendors and scheduled detailed walk-throughs with vendors at our wedding venue. Bayleigh and Candy ensured that we stuck to our planning timeline and met our benchmarks in the lead-up to the wedding. When inclement weather was forecasted for our wedding day, Bayleigh helped us and our venue to enact our Plan B that moved our outdoor events to indoor spaces. Bayleigh and Candy also updated our wedding website with the new details when we lacked access to wifi and cellular data at our remote venue location! Keeping the limited bandwidth at Capon in mind, Bayleigh and Candy arrived on the wedding day with earpieces and transceivers that allowed them to communicate seamlessly with each other throughout each event! They walked our officiants and wedding party through our Hindu and Western ceremony rehearsals, assisted us with organizing of our seating arrangements in the new indoor space, and allowed us to focus on preparing for our ceremonies during all the final preparations! Following our Hindu ceremony, Bayleigh and Candy brought us our signature drinks and food, ensuring that we had our much-needed alone time together. Bayleigh and Candy gave us peace of mind throughout our wedding day with their expertise, professionalism, and impeccable attention to every detail, and we cannot thank them enough for giving us the stress-free wedding day of our dreams. We are truly honored to have had them leading our wedding team, and we hope to work with them again on another momentous occasion in our lives together.
