We had our wedding here in Summer of 2014 and the venue is just gorgeous. It fit perfectly for our less-traditional, more cocktail party inspired wedding we were planning for. We held our ceremony outside on the grass, held outdoor cocktails ...and then moved into the museum.
The museum is really beautiful and it also allowed for us to choose all our own vendors (I highly recommend the Casual Gourmet (catering and bartending), Joe Mikos Photography). This also allowed for a very glamorous wedding at a much lower cost than if we had held it at one of the resorts.
My only complaint was how restrictive some of the terms of the contract were. We also found that the representatives at the museum were slower than desired in responding to emails and questions after we signed the contract.
We signed the contract before I really considered the smaller details of our wedding, and the following which was not allowed:
1) No music outside (blogs from previous weddings showed photos of everything outside under a tent which is no longer how it is run, which misled us a bit. We initially were planning an outside, under the tent event)
2) No candles inside or outside (we had to use flameless votives in the end)
3) Music/noise restrictions
4) No rose petals, no helium balloons (and many more) both inside and out on the grass at the venue
5) Must vacate the building by 11PM (music off, everything packed up), no extensions on time
There were a few things that were very restrictive in my opinion, but if you are aware of these and are okay with them all then this is a fabulous place to hold your event! We wouldn't have changed it, but I wish I had been more thorough in reading the fine print/restrictions to manage my own expectations.
