We booked Carla’s Catering for our wedding in April and couldn’t have been happier with our decision! The food and dessert was absolutely to die for and we received so many compliments throughout the night. For appetizers we had crab dip, cheese and crackers, and chips and salsa. For the dinner we had a buffet style creamy braised chicken, beef tips, mashed potatoes, mac and cheese, and glazed carrots. Dessert we had cake and cupcakes! All was phenomenal, organized, and delicious!
Carla's Catering truly made our wedding feel like home. The food was divine! Soulful food made with love. Carla was a breeze to work with. Kind, caring, and compassionate. Never tried to uncharge us. Carla treated our wedding like she would her own family, and we were a part of that family. Our guests did not stop talking about how good the food was. Thank you, Carla!!
We chose Carla’s Catering for our wedding day on June 28th, 2024 as she works closely with our venue Creamery 201. We had our tasting and loved the food. We chose the buffet of creamy braised chicken, beef and vegetables, mashed potatoes, sage buttered tortellini and green beans severed with a roll! When I tell you people were RAVING about the food, even that is an understatement. We had so many compliments, many saying it was the best wedding food they ever had. Even now weeks after the wedding people can’t stop talking about it. Carla’s menu it’s very fairly priced as well compared to other places we looked into. Also the fact that most of the items on our menu were gluten free without even asking was a HUGE plus as many of our guests had allergies. Highly recommend!!!!! People say you always remember the food at a wedding, and I know my guests will not forget this food!
Food was delicious. Only complaint is the maple glazed carrots did not have enough glaze like they did when we had our tasting with Carla, but still tasted great! Our cake and cupcakes were delicious as well (everyone LOVED the carrot cake cupcakes).
The food was AMAZING. we got so many compliments on how good the food was and how good the desserts were. Carla did an excellent job!
Carla catered our wedding for 180 people including appetizers, dinner, dessert and our late night snack. We had a great experience overall! She was very accommodating during our tasting and let us taste everything we asked for. We had the chicken and roast beef, macaroni and cheese, mashed potatoes and salad on our buffet. Everything tasted delicious! The dessert display was awesome and our guests raved about the desserts and late night nacho bar. We loved working with Carla and would highly recommend her!!
I will give one star because the food was delicious, however everything else about our experience was a nightmare.
Let me start by saying the tasting was amazing. the food was great. Carla was very professional. The portion sizes were good. We liked what we chose.
Carla catered our wedding and it could not have been any more different than our tasting experience. We started by paying for the food. We chose 3 entrees. We also paid the 20% service charge, and gratuity up front to help during Covid. When we had the final guest count we paid for an additional 5 people (it ended up being 10 people as 5 did not show).
Here is what we got for our Wedding
1. We were told at our tasting that Carla had never been to our Venue and would be visiting to look at the set up. She had over a year to look and never did, so when her staff arrived they were flustered and asking the venue staff how and where to set up.
2.Once they were set up, two family members brought the wedding cake back to the kitchen to cut it. (our venue has a full caterers kitchen and plenty of space). They were told that they would have to cut the cake in the hallway (both of my family members do catering and have servesafe). When one family member asked the caterer if they could use a pair of gloves, Carla's staff was extremely rude to her ...wait for it...right in front of the bridal party. So I felt awful all through dinner as the entire bridal party told me what happened.
3. This was not the only time their staff was rude to our guests. One of our guests asked if she could have a second serving of macaroni since she does not eat meat. She was rudely told no. My mother in law asked if she could possibly get a little something, even a dinner roll for her mother as the staff was setting up because her mother was not doing well in the heat and has dimentia. Instead of directing her to the appetizers, the staff rudely told her that it was impossible since they were still setting up.
4. Last but most importantly, you will not get what you paid for. My husband (the groom) was told he could only choose 2 of the 3 types of meat (this is not in Carla's contract and had we known we would pay for 3 choose 2, we would have gone elsewhere). All other guests were told the same.
The portion sizes are TINY. They do not at all reflect the portion sizes you get at the tasting. I am 5'4" and 125lbs and I was left hungry. We got toddler sizes portions and guests were not given the chance to get "more" of anything. We ended up buying pizzas a few hours after dinner to feed out guests.
Finally, it says in her contract that she will not let you keep leftovers (no big deal), but when guests were told (by the bridal party) to go get seconds, they were ONCE AGAIN rudely told that they had already been through the line.
So we paid for 3 entrees and extra people just to have our guests leave upset and hungry while Carla took the rest of the food back to their kitchen.
I sent Carla and email expressing my disappointment in her staffs lack of professionalism and was responded to with an email full of sugar coated excuses. Including "I didn't know who your mother in law was" and "buffet doesn't mean huge/unlimited portions."
I would be happy to forward the email chain to anyone who would like to see who they are dealing with.
Carla catered our wedding, and the food was great. She made all of our appetizers--and everyone loved them! For dinner, she made two types of chicken, pot roast, and vegetarian lasagna, as well as all of the side dishes. Each dish turned out well, and everyone enjoyed the dinner!
Besides the good food, Carla also was very flexible and patient with all of the changes we had to make for COVID--including decreasing the wedding size (by a lot), having a served buffet, and adjusting how the appetizers were plated. She was also very reasonably priced. I would definitely recommend her for your wedding or other event!
So delicious! 3 months later and people are still talking about the food! I planned my wedding in Wi from out of state, so I was unable to attend a tasting. Needless to say I was a little stressed about it! Carla answered every question and planning the meal was easy. She also accommodated my needs, some gluten free food, some vegetarian and of-course meat! The day of, the meal went seamlessly and when she cleaned up and left you we didn't have to do a thing. Both the chicken and roast were tender and the potatoes were delicious! She provided a gluten free cake and regular cupcakes. My mother still wants more of her cupcakes and all the GFer's at the wedding LOVED the GF cake. I live in the south... I visit WI often with my husband to see his family...I am seriously considering ordering a GF cake the next time I visit because it was so good!!
we utilized Carla's for my bridal shower. everyone adored the food. she really helped with many dietary restrictions by providing choices that worked for them. the dessert was great and she plated them well on our own dishes. she also stayed to help with the food service and allowed us to take some of the food home at the end.
My only complaint was prior to the event we had some trouble getting in touch with her to confirm numbers and the contract.
Carla makes great food for a great price! She was super easy and fun to work with and took good care of us on our wedding day! I would highly recommend her.
We just had our wedding on June 9th and had Carla's catering do the appetizers, dinner buffet, and late night snack. They did an absolutely wonderful job. Once we chose her as the caterer, that was the end of the work we put in for food. She took care of everything we could have possibly thought of, without us even having to say anything. When the day of the wedding came, everything was already set up perfectly the day before. The presentation of all food was gorgeous, and it all tasted even better. We had nothing but compliments across the board on all of the food she catered. The wedding went flawlessly in all aspects, including the food. We would HIGHLY recommend using Carla's Catering for any event. She puts a lot of pride and effort into her work and it absolutely shows. We are still getting texts from guests asking about the caterer. Unfortunately for them, she doesn't own a restaurant, so they well have to wait for the next event she caters to have her food again!
I just had my wedding on March 10th and Carla's Catering did our hor d'ouerves, dinner, and cake. I'll have to admit that I was a little apprehensive about having one person handle all of these things for a wedding of 250 people, but Carla could not have done things more perfectly. All of my guests loved the food she made for cocktail hour (mini twice baked potatoes, bacon wrapped chicken bites) so much that it was gone by the time my husband and I got there.
Then there was dinner (salad, chicken, pork, mashed potatoes, green beans, and dinner rolls) and everyone loved it so much, people wanted seconds and thirds!!! The meat was tender and juicy and I could have eaten a whole plate of the mashed potatoes alone! Carla also made sure that the meal would accommodate those with gluten-free and dairy-free needs, so none of my relatives with dietary issues had to worry about having food to eat. This was greatly appreciated by my guests and I, so everyone could just relax and enjoy the day.
Then there was the cake. Carla made a gluten-free carrot cake, with a cheesecake bottom, and a salted caramel frosting. It is so delicious that we cannot stop eating it and there probably won't be any left for our one-year anniversary! The sheets cakes she made for the guests had a buttercream frosting (that she surprised us with making it pink to match our colors - so amazing) and there was one chocolate and one vanilla. Guests have not stopped raving to me about the cake. One guest ate 5 pieces and wanted to know where I got it so she could order one for her next event!!!
On top of all of the amazing food she made, Carla also went the extra mile to make sure her tables were set up elegantly with lights and other decor to match our colors and style. Her pricing is also extremely reasonable and she doesn't nickel and dime you for every little thing like disposable plates, napkins, silverware, salt and pepper, she also had a drink station of milk and coffee that was included. She also made sure everything was cleaned up in a timely manner and cleared guests plates.
I cannot give Carla anything but the highest of praise and I would definitely hire her again for anything I need catered.
