Beautiful grounds though very poorly run. Food expired. Staff unkempt, disrespectful. Expect this place to close very soon. Used to be a class act- FAR from that now.
Absolutely perfect venue. They provide a list of things that will make it easy for you find what you’re looking for.
Perfect!!!!
My husband and I were married at the Vineyard with the reception in their barn. Everything was perfect!!!! Russell Morin was excellent to work with and the food was awesome!!!! Also, the vineyard was great to work with!!!! Deborah at Sakonnet is great!!!!! Thank you to both Russell Morin and Sakonnet Vineyards for a perfect wedding!!!!!! :)
The vineyard is gorgeous! It is the perfect place for a wedding and my wedding was everything I wanted it to be!
The staff running the wedding portion of the vineyard have a few things to figure out to make it that much better. A few details that were not mentioned previous to the day of the event were disappointing and caused some issues with guests.
They are accommodating to some degree, but not that friendly. Don't expect them to jump thru any hoops. And be aware the house that is on the property is someone's summer home and not really part of the package deal like it appears when you first sign the contract.
Russel Morin runs the catering and they are amazing and if it wasn't for them, I don't think the day would have worked out quite as amazing as it did. They should be running the whole show, but it is a little discombobulated with an event manager for the vineyard and an event manager for Russel Morin and it didn't appear that they communicate very well (mostly the Vineyard not communicating with Russel Morin).
Would I do it all again there, most likely yes! Would I recommend it? Only with someone with an event planner to deal with the silliness.
I had my wedding at Sakonnet Vineyard in the fall of 2014. The ceremony, cocktail hour and reception were all held at this venue. The venue itself is gorgeous and my wedding took place in a new part of the property where weddings had not been held before so I was really able to make it my own.
Russel Morin's is the caterer (who are fantastic!) and run the majority of wedding planning and coordination for this venue. Russel Morin's was incredible to work with, but the vineyard service was less than impressive. Russel Morin's made us feel that our wedding was special, whereas the vineyard acted as though they were doing us a favor by allowing us to have our wedding there. A bike race was planned the same day as our wedding, which we weren't informed about until the week before our wedding, and we were told everything would be cleared and gone by 2pm which shouldn't interfere with our 4:30pm ceremony. When we arrived at 3:30pm to take pictures the race was no where near cleared up. We were also told at 10pm that night as our wedding ended that we would have to move all of the decorations we brought with us by 8am the next morning, when we were previously told we could keep them there until the following afternoon.
It was the lack of consideration from the vineyard that I was disappointed with. Russel Morin's who did most of the coordinating were fabulous to work with, but when the vineyard had to get involved, they were inconsiderate of working with us and acted as though our wedding was an afterthought to anything else they wanted to do. I think if Russel Morin's handled everything, the event would have ran smoothly. Again this is a beautiful venue and we had an amazing day and I would absolutely recommend this venue to others as long as the vineyard works out these kinks and does a better job at trying to make the wedding day a special event rather than an afterthought.
Although we did not end up choosing Sakonnet Vineyards for our wedding, it was in our final two and an incredibly difficult decision. The wedding coordinator, Catherine, is incredible! We were working on a tight schedule and she sped up her process to get us a proposal in 2 days. She was always available to talk and answered emails quickly. We had so many questions and variables and Catherine worked tirelessly to get us the answers to aid in our decision. For convenience reasons we went with a place closer to home, however, I highly recommend working with Sakonnet for your wedding. What a beautiful venue and you won't find a more helpful wedding coordinator.
