We got married in September 2023 and had our reception at the Cast & Cru restaurant/banquet hall. We utilized the spacious outdoor space for cocktail hour, allowing guests to spread out and mingle while enjoying appetizers/drinks. The outdoor space was also perfect for photo taking, as there are many beautiful places within the Old Log Theatre grounds. The banquet space fit all 130 of our guests for a seated dinner. The food was amazing (many guests said it was the best wedding food they have ever had). The bar staff was very professional, friendly and all of our guests loved the drinks, especially the signature drinks that we were able to add to our bar menu for the evening. The OLT event coordinator Peter was pleasant and easy to work with, and really let us make our wedding reception our own. Wonderful staff and beautiful venue, would highly recommend for a wedding or large event.
It has been over a year since we got married at Old Log. And while the venue it's self is lovely, a cozy rustic feel and the food was excellent that's where the positive aspects end. First when we booked with Old Log the wedding coordinator we worked with was impossible to communicate with and turns out she actually quit. When we finally started having communication with someone we were then pass off to a third person who was actually lovely to work with but apparently is no longer there.
There were lots of hidden fees and extra rental requirements as the short planning process went on. For what you pay you don't get a lot included. You have to pay for the use of their linnens, rent your own audio equipment, rent any additional space you are getting ready in i.e. cabins. All of which we found out at various points through out the planning process due to the sever lack of communication. Also- maybe two weeks before the wedding we found out we had to rent a dance floor- another additional cost on top of an already expensive venue.
The day of the wedding I was extremely disappointed by the behavior of the staff and the way they treated my wedding party and other vendors. First we rented said dance floor per their strong recommendation, then a staff member came up to our wedding planners who were assembling it and told them to take it down because they didn't like the way they had assbled it.
Next, one staff member was particularly rude to two of my bridesmaids- apparently they had let them into one of the offices to change into their dresses- why...I don't know because we rented the cabin to get ready in. This employee was apparently rude to one of my younger attendants who was just trying to follow the crowd and stay on schedule. This same employee was also rude to my personal attendant who was looking for my florist to get our flowers. My PA polietly asked, "I'm looking for someone with the flowers?" And this employee rudely responded "you mean a florist?!?" I received feedback that this same employee was rude to my florist and coordinators.
Lastly- I stand by that the food is excellent however this aspect was disorganized as well. We had appitizers come out but they forgot to bring our the cheese boards and they came out late. If my maid of honor didnt say something I'm not sure if they would have made it out to my guests. Then we found out that they ran out of food for our buffet. I understand that it can happen when you do buffet however I had maybe 100 people at my wedding and ordeder quantities according to their recommendations! I was told that the table and then some who did not get food were brought a plated meal however the buffet runners and employees apparently we're not friendly about it. I was going to let this all go but that was the last straw.
All said and done this was obviously a large expense and the level of professionalism was extremely disappointing and at the end of the day it really seems like being a theatre is their first priority. Which is fine. Just don't book your wedding here. We felt like annoyances the day of and all throughout the planning process and it really showed every step of the way.
We chose to have our wedding at The Old Log Theater because of it’s rich history and the memories for both of us attending plays there.
We also love the food at Cast & Cru. It is imaginative, beautifully prepared and delicious! Our wedding was small- 40 guests and really just a nuptial dinner. Our event coordinator from Cast & Cru, Peter proved to be very well organized, so accommodating and professional. We were taken care of so well and they made sure our wedding was special. The food was amazing, the service outstanding and the owners showed how invested they were in making this our day. We highly recommend Cast & Cru at The Old Log!
This space is gorgeous and the property is stunning! We loved the space (especially the log cabin that Cast and Cru set up for our bridal party cocktail hour) and took all our photos here- they turned out beautifully. The chef and pastry chef here are very talented, and the food was excellent. We were happy with the many craft beers on tap that we could serve our guests. Our reception went smoothly on the day of the wedding (with the help of an outside day of coordinator that we hired; she did say that she had to manage our timeline quite a bit). We had a great wedding day, but the planning process with Cast and Cru was challenging. Halfway through planning, the event coordinator we started with left, and during that transition Cast and Cru lost our contract and credit card info. We did not feel that they handled this transition well. We were frustrated that some of our prices/details changed during that time, as we had not been told certain things from the first coordinator (like that we had to pay for pub tables and linens; they also lost some info, like that we wanted to host a midnight champagne toast). Once we started working with Kelly, things improved! She was good with communication and professional. She helped us figure out all details for the reception and we felt very confident with her! However, 6 weeks before our wedding she announced that she was leaving. We expressed our concerns to Cast and Cru, and we felt again that they were unprofessional during this time, rather than proactive with helping us. Kelly did decide to stay on for our wedding after we met with Cast and Cru again, which we were very appreciative of! Overall, the space, food, and atmosphere here are phenomenal, but the planning process was very tumultuous and caused my husband and I a lot of stress and frustration.
My husband and I got married here on October 20,2018. It was an absolutely stunning venue. It had such a cozy and comfy rustic feel to it! The outdoor space allowed us to take a large majority of pictures right on the grounds..it looked like we were in an enchanted forest. With how beautiful the interior was we had to do very minimal decorations. Kelly our coordinator went above and beyond to ensure that every detail and vision that we had came to life. She put so much time and effort into the small details and flow of our night; it could not have been more perfect. The food was AMAZING. Almost every single one of our guests said it was the best wedding food they have ever had.Cheff Matt is truly a culinary hidden treasure. Thank you old log and cast and cru for making our day one to remember. We could not have done it without you! ❤️
My husband and I were married here on October 6, 2018. We had an amazing experience throughout, and we wanted to share. We contacted the events team December 2017, and the staff was engaged from first contact. Kelly Houlehan was our coordinator and worked with us through every detail, including my bride-to-be freakout about forgetting to add one of my uncle's meal a week before the ceremony. She was gracious and kind throughout. The space is GORGEOUS and the wait staff was attentive and friendly. The entire day was what we wanted, in no small part because of Kelly and the team there.
Initially, we had hoped to have the ceremony and the celebration all in the dining space, but unfortunately due to our large guest list, that was not an option. Kelly worked with us to provide the theater space as a solution, and it ended up being better than we could have hoped. Everyone commented on how unique the theater was for the ceremony, and how lovely the dining space was. And don't even get us started on the food! It was the best meal either of us had EVER had at a wedding... and our guests agreed. Matt Elless, the executive chef, outdid himself with each new course. The pastry chef Melinda Norman delighted all with her miniature desserts.
All in all, this space is great. We loved the scenery, the restaurant, the theater, and the people we worked with! Get married here!
Our guests loved it, we loved it! It was an all inclusive place. We were married on the stage and had an amazing reception afterwards. Karen was great to work with, very caring! The chef worked with our ideas to create a wonderful menu. Our only negative was that they did not offer keg service and we had to pay per bottle of beer, which meant our bar cost was a little more than it may have been elsewhere. Regardless, it was worth having it there!
SPECTACULAR! Perfect location for a more hidden away all inclusive intimate setting. The theatre for an indoor wedding or the grounds for outdoor and the reception space perfect. Our fall wedding couldn't have been better and their coordinator Karen (karen@oldlog.com) was the best to work with. They went above and beyond to help with every last detail and the rave review keep coming on the locatin and food and service! THANK YOU.
A sweet, unique place just outside of the Twin Cities to have a reception. The location is incredible for photographs. The coordinator that I worked with was kind, excellent, and so helpful - she made sure everything for the Big Day was all in place.
We fell in love with the place the moment we showed up for the first time. I completely fit the type of people we are. Allowed for an onsite outdoor ceremony, with an indoor back up, and allowed for a very large group. All without breaking the bank. They were flexible with us on a lot of things that most venues were not. The food was just as good or better as any of the others that we have tried at our friends recent weddings. I would strongly suggest anyone to consider this as an option for their venue.
