We absolutely LOVED this venue. Paulette and her team made everything easy and always got back to me in a reasonable amount of time anytime I had a question. The venue is also STUNNING both in person and in pictures.
If you’re in the southeast and looking for a smaller castle venue for your wedding, look no further! They have multiple ceremony and reception locations to choose from on the property and multiple packages, including all-inclusive, to choose from so you can have your dream wedding. We chose the Great Hall and Queen’s Chamber and it was the perfect backdrop for our Scottish wedding. Dark and moody, it set the stage for an intimate ceremony illuminated with the bright reds in our tartans. Ashellee was our coordinator and you won’t find a more fun, accommodating, and friendly person! She offered amazing suggestions for our reception and I’m so thankful! I can’t remember the name of the young lady that tan herself ragged the day of the wedding trying to make sure things were just-so, especially with the large amount of decorating that needed to be done and taken down. Our bartender Tevin was a warm and kind addition to our day. We chose the a la carte option so we could decorate our own way. Our friends and family traveled from multiple states because they were so excited, not only for us, but for the venue. Thank you to the entire staff for making our day a fantasy wedding come true!
I worked a wedding here last weekend. Samantha made sure that everything went smooth and helped out SO much.
Any questions?
I had my wedding at the Crystal Garden 4 days ago, and everything was great. Samantha did such an excellent job the day of the wedding with making sure everything was executed. Our guests enjoyed themselves, and the vendors were great as well!!
Our daughter was married at the Castle yesterday, and Samantha and the CM team couldn’t have been more wonderful and helpful. It’s a gorgeous venue for a small wedding, and the all-inclusive package far exceeded all expectations. Fabulous photographer, excellent officiant, delicious cake, and an absolutely perfect ceremony. Thank you for making the day so special!
1) They are not good with communication. I had left several messages with concerns and wouldn't get a call back for days. Keep in mind we had already started to make payments on the venue.
2) We had a meeting and it went great but when we wanted to go to the crystal garden we were left outside for about 10-20 minutes waiting for someone to unlock the door. nobody ever came, we called and nobody answered and we had to go back to the castle and tell them we were still waiting. I had my 3 month old nephew and it was around 90 degrees outside.
3) they are scammers they told us that a bar would cost about $700 and we said we would have a dry wedding because it was out of our budget and then they dropped the price $200. we still denied because they clearly were after money.
4) it was time for our rehearsal and we had no instruction on where we should go so we went straight to the garden and was rudely greeted by a lady in there. she then left after a few minutes and we continued to go through our rehearsal when another couple had appeared. they were schedule for the garden the same day we were promised the garden for our rehearsal
5) On the day of our wedding we was met with microaggression and racist comments and our guest were harassed. when we contacted the castle nobody contacted us back on the issue. no apology has been issued.
The venue was perfect for the event, I worked with Alexis a lot getting ready for the big day and the building manager (Samantha) was absolutely incredible the day of - I can't tell you how many times she came to my rescue!
We visited the castle and decided on this venue (Great Hall). I spoke with Victoria Marsh and have emails only to call later ready to book and Alexis Dalton provided vendors for the reception along with details. Alexis stated that we could NOT book until 9 months out. So today 1-10-2022 we called to book for 11-10-2022 and Alexis has booked the Great Hall for the entire day. When asked about booking 9 months out, Alexis stated that this was the date range! My math is 11-1=10. Being an event planner, I’ve decided to take this to a higher level, post on FB and on my blog. Money was never an issue. We were only doing what Alexis advised. Please, please, please save all emails and get everything in writing. Shame on the Event Coordinator at Castle McCulloch 01-10-2022
We got married at Castle McCulloch with the intimate wedding package on November 16, 2021, and overall we HIGHLY recommend them! This venue is ABSOLUTELY beautiful, and so unique. Very helpful and friendly staff. We worked with Stephanie as our wedding coordinator, and she was pretty much always very helpful in responding to my many, many questions as the bride. The only tiny negative part of our experience is when the videographer asked 2 weeks before the wedding for a run-down of all movements during the ceremony, and I asked Stephanie if she was the right person to ask. She told me that if I wanted assistance with this, I would need to hire a full wedding coordinator. I just wish I had known there was a difference at the beginning, to avoid confusion. But overall we had an amazing experience at this wedding venue. We are SO happy we got married here. It was an unforgettable experience. Note: we got the King and Queen thrones, the beer/wine bar, and the inside door flowers added on, and they far exceeded our expectations!
We had our wedding at Castle McCulloch. The ceremony and reception were amazing. They provided just about everything you will need. It is a gorgeous location, and plenty of space for what we needed. If you’re looking for a simplified wedding planning process, the staff and vendors provided will take care of you. Thank you for being a part of our big day!
Getting married at Castle McCulloch had been a dream of mine since I was little. When we got engaged, it was my first and only stop. Everyone there was so helpful in making sure we could make everything happen. Our guests were so impressed by the castle and all the beautiful scenery of the property, and it made for unforgettable photos that we will cherish for a lifetime.
The best thing about the castle is that they will work within your budget to find a way to make the event you want happen. We'd never considered a Sunday wedding, but it made the most financial sense for us. Paulette convinced us that it wouldn't be disruptive for our guests, and she was completely right. That suggestion helped us achieve our dream wedding exactly the way we wanted it.
The Castle is such a beautiful venue! Their onsite manager was so accommodating and kept in touch with us the entire day of the wedding in case we needed anything. Just make sure you read all the fine print and confirm all details at the finalizing meeting.
This venue is breathtakingly beautiful! With friendly and helpful staff, and the history behind this hidden gem, it completed the atmosphere that our daughter wanted and made her wedding day beautiful and perfect! You absolutely have to check it out!

Lynette,
Thank you for your kind words! This is why we do what we do, to bring wedding dreams to reality & make it a day they will never forget! We are glad to hear it was everything your daughter dreamed of.
We ended up not choosing this venue for our wedding, but I have to give Castle McCulloch a shining review and recommendation! The venue itself is so beautiful, and they'll work with you and your budget to make the wedding of your dreams a reality. Paulette was incredibly kind and answered every question with expertise. Castle McCulloch is a castle straight out of a fairytale, and the Crystal Garden Ballroom is gorgeous, too! All-around, the venue is great and the staff is genuine and helpful. Definitely recommend Castle McCulloch!

Ginger,
Thank you for your kind words and recommendation! We are sad that we are unable to host your special day but we hope it is everything you dream of and more!
I had planned my daughter’s wedding for October, 2020, but with the state our world is in right now with Covid-19, we weren’t comfortable moving forward ( we had a lot of guests who would have had to fly in, including many elderly). When I called to cancel, I was told, no, I couldn’t get my money back, but if I wanted to apply that money to another event, within a year, then I could. NO! I don’t need or want another event, because, frankly, I’m not sure what the upcoming year will bring! I just wanted my money back, but they refused, stating it was there “policy” to not refund. Really?? We are in the middle of a pandemic and you’re not willing to compromise?? Shame on you. Poor business practice! I will not now, or ever, recommend this venue...please beware if you are considering this venue!
Wonderful venue!

Thank you for taking a moment to rate and review your Castle McCulloch experience with 5 ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐'s! We greatly appreciate your feedback.
We had our rehearsal dinner and wedding at Castle McCulloch in December 2019 and everything was beyond perfect! It was easy to contact the castle staff when planning, the venue was gorgeous, and everything was how we expected/planned! This was the perfect location for our small intimate wedding. Paulette was great at communicating quickly prior to our events, accommodating our last minute floor plan changes, and reassuring us that everything will be perfect. Our day of contacts (Stephanie for rehearsal dinner and Andrew for wedding) were both present for anything that was needed and quick to make any last minute accommodations. I would highly recommend Castle McCulloch to anyone looking for an amazing unique event venue!

Thank you so much for taking the time to rate and review your Castle McCulloch experience with 5 ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ 's! We too must agree that Paulette, Stephanie, and Andrew are all three indeed amazing people and are all highly valued employees here at Ca...
stle McCulloch.
Beautiful venue but there are some issues. The first lady we were dealing with, Ashley, was very unprofessional. She then got a new job or something else and we were dealing with Paulette. The day I go to pay my balance, I found out that we had paid extra for a liquor bar package when we clearly specified that we were not having liquor we were only going to have wine and beer. Then on the wedding day they put out a tip jar for the bartender even though we were paying $30 a person just to have the bar, when most people just drank the tea that the caterer provided. I thought they should've asked our permission for the tip jar. many of our guests felt they could use the bar because they didn't bring cash for a tip.
Also we paid for the iron works package and we only had part of what we paid for.
Great staff, super friendly and knowledgeable! Made us feel like we were their friends and family! Gorgeous location, just the best time!!
Beautiful venue with really nice staff. They made sure things went smoothly the day of, and were around to help and be accommodating the whole season leading up. Only hiccup was after spending an extensive amount of time planning the layout for the day of set up, they didn’t seem to communicate that with the person who was there and she wasn’t up to date with how it was decided, my coordinator wasn’t there yet so I had to spend some time directing set up instead of focusing on getting ready. Afterwards, it all went smoothly.
This place is magical. It's a castle!!! My wedding here was like a fairy tale wedding, it was everything I had imagined it to be and more. This venue is beautiful and oh so elegant. Our point of contact here was Paulette and she is great to work with. She really put in effort in making sure we had everything we wanted. The day of coordination by her staff was great too. Malaysia and Kelly were assisting us that day and we're very happy with their coordination. Everything went smoothly. I literally do not have a single complaint. It was perfect!
Everyone was incredibly helpful and super nice!
The castle was the absolute perfect place for our small intimate ceremony. Not only was the staff extremely friendly, they went above and beyond to ensure that our wedding was everything we could imagine. To top it off, our event manager, Malaysia, saved the day for me. I had a custom bouquet made and my mom and I left it at the house. I was at a complete loss of what to do to rectify the situation. Malaysia grabbed some of our extra flowers we had used to decorate the venue and made me a bouquet about a ten minutes before I had to walk down the aisle. She really saved the day for me!
Working with the castle was easy and fun. I highly recommend it if you are looking for a classy, elegant ceremony space!
This venue is beautiful. I attended my niece's wedding and it was amazing. The manager Malaysia went above and beyond to make sure my niece was happy on her big day. She was pleasant accommodating in everyway. Thanks again for everything!
Malaysia Castle was a great help to me and my family this weekend. She is a awesome building manager that help make the wedding day perfect.
We had our wedding on the Hillside Terrace and Crystal Gardens, and it was beautiful. This was a July wedding, so the trees were lush and green, the sun was shining, and yes it was warm but there's a creek in the back and full shade, so everyone was fine. Then it was up to the Crystal Gardens for the (air conditioned) dancing. Because the staff and the vendors are so familiar with the venue, they run it like clockwork. And as a bride who's being ambushed by everyone and everything all at once, that's very comforting and makes things sooo much easier. There were a lot of rules, but the staff were very clear about them and were there to answer your questions, and they let you bring your own alcohol! Which also contributed to it being a venue that looked like it carried a price tag much heftier than it actually does. We were super pleased with how it all went.
Malaysia Castle helped us make sure everything was in place for our wedding with everything from making sure the order of the people in the wedding party came down she was on point and very courteous while addressing any family concerns. Then she talk to manger for us about a communication issue, so she took it in her hands to accommodate each and every guest. She also helped with the wedding flow. Malaysia also remained positive while Under a lot of pressure and she should be recognized for her hard work and dedication.

Hi Tevin! Thank you so much for taking the time to rate and review your Castle McCulloch experience! We too must agree that, Malaysia is indeed, an amazing person and a highly valued employee here at Castle McCulloch.
Castle McCulloch is like a dream come true. We celebrated our 25th anniversary.
Excellent service and everything went smooth with all the events.
I will highly recommend this place.

Thank you so much for taking the time to write us your review! It was a pleasure getting to be part of such a special day!
Castle McCulloch is a small but absolutely beautiful venue. Even driving to the castle itself feels like you are traveling through a tree-lined tunnel toward a medieval fantasy land. A moat with wildlife surrounds it, and large doors open up to medieval paintings, a suit of armor, and a massive chandelier. It was perfect for our theme of The Legend of Zelda. Paulette was great to work with. She was prompt when it came to replying to our emails, and she accommodated us as much as she could while keeping the venue rules in mind.
We admittedly had some issues with the building manager during the wedding. She was a bit pushy, and she repeatedly approached my husband, who was supposed to be enjoying himself, about whether or not we were going to purchase an extra hour for the night. I am still giving this venue five stars, however, because the positive outweighed the negative by far.
My wife and I recently married at Castle McCulloch. The venue was absolutely beautiful. Our event supervisor Elaina was amazing. She did eveything for us throughout the evening from set up to coordinating events to clean up. We highly recommend this place as a venue. Exceeded our expectations.
Tis a dream to have a wedding reception in a Castle! The location is originally a gold mine and what a treasure! In planning an express timeline wedding in six months, we discovered a jewel. Castle McCulloch and the Crystal Garden is a picturesque site in the Triad that accommodates an incredibly BEAUTIFUL wedding reception. The venue and price goes unmatched for the wonderful experience. The well-oiled wedding machine that we encountered made every single detail a pleasure! The Castle manager Kellie is a superb representative to make all come together for the venue. We utilized the Castle McCulloch's preferred wedding vendors and that made our planning process a smooth and enjoyable experience. Because the preferred vendors understand the internal workings of the Castle, everyone came together to make our wedding reception a remarkable event. Countless guests have commented that it was the most perfect and elegant wedding reception they have ever attended. This could not have happened without each element of the Castle McCulloch coming together to work as a dream wedding team! Go Castle! As I write this, I am over the moon excited that Castle McCulloch as a stunning wedding venue and their preferred wedding vendors are the ultimate wedding professionals working together to make our wedding reception a lovely success. The Castle Preferred Vendors operating together, knowing the details of the venue they are working in, and weaving together their business talents was evident at our marvelous winter wedding reception. I also strongly recommend attending the Castle’s seasonal Eat, Drink, and Be Married Bridal Show Expo to meet the wondrous wedding vendors in person and see Castle McCulloch in it’s glory.
This is the most uncoordinated place I have ever encountered! While the venue can look nice, the staff and facilities are atrocious. The bride has a room upstairs but must call someone and wait to have access to the restroom anytime she needs it. The castle did not turn on the air conditioning to an acceptable level. Even our DJ, who has worked there several times complained to the staff for us. We rented two bars and staff for our wedding and the castle neglected to put out the red wine we provided until very late in the evening when the bride noticed her guests not drinking red wine. When she went to the bar and asked why the red wine was not out for guests, she was told there was no red wine. Upon insisting, the castle miraculously found the wine (at 10 pm). Then, days after the wedding the couple received a call saying the castle found more red wine that belonged to them.
For decorating, the castle removed lighting fixtures which had been present the week earlier. Several item that were paid for could not be used since the castle removed outlets. Thousands of dollars down the drain because the castle did not inform their preferred vendor of the change.
If you ever call the castle and have to deal with Paulette - run as fast as you can. She does not care about you or your event. She does not know prices, tries to force the "norm" on you and is inflexible. She couldn't even do things via email many times. Very out dated and not worth taking even a minute to talk with her. If you insists on using this venue, demand to work with someone other than Paulette.
Ar the time we initially viewed the venue the pond was nice, the day of our wedding it was terribly brown. The carpet on the outdoor patio is in sore need of replacement .
Guests cannot leave their cars on site overnight after the wedding. We were not informed of this before the wedding and had to go get our car after the reception was well over. Terrible communication and very inflexible.
Our wedding was this past Sunday and everything was perfect. Kellie made sure everything went smooth and for me not to worry even when I kept asking if everything was good! She kept complimenting us on how great we were and how beautiful everything was but she was so awesome herself! Thank you so much Kellie!
I am not sure we could have had a more perfect venue. The planning stage was wonderful. The facilities are really good and the staff is very accommodating. We had our event tonight and Gina was the manager of our event. She was TOTALLY awesome. We showed up a bit unprepared for a couple of things and she jumped right in to help. Her personality was perfect in working with us. Our bartender, Joel, was also awesome. The onsite staff tonight made this the perfect venue!
Beautiful Venue!!! Wonderful Staff! Having the wedding inside was perfect, because it rained that day :) No need for a Plan B.
I was very excited about hoping to host my winter wedding here, but after dealing with Gina Mitchell I refuse to work with such a rude and unprofessional person. My fiancé set an appointment with her for a specific day at 10:00 am on the dot, my fiancé and my sister arrived and nobody was out there. They called Gina several times and she didn't pick up. After about the 4th time she finally picked up and she spoke to my fiancé very crudely. Saying she "needs more information", what information could you need, all we wanted was a tour of the venue. never got to see the place, terrible customer service from her.
What a beautiful venue!! We had a vintage themed wedding that played perfectly with the castle's stone and wood. The candle light and iron works added to the ambiance and we had the most perfect evening!!
We absolutely loved having our wedding and reception in the Great Hall at Castle McCulloch! Paulette made the planning process very smooth. When the weather took a bad turn, the staff worked very hard to get our ceremony moved inside and during the reception to make sure everything ran smoothly. All our guests are still raving about! Highly recommend this beautiful venue!
We chose Castle McCulloch to because of all the wonderful reviews we read – Our parents had a 50th anniversary this year and we wanted to surprise them with family and friends at a gathering there – We contacted Castle McCulloch in September and scheduled the event for the following July – Unfortunately our dad was diagnosed with cancer a few months after we scheduled it – We decided due to the steady stream of chemo treatments and the uncertainty as to how he would be affected that we would cancel the event – My sister called them in March and explained the situation and cancelled the event – Unfortunately there was a bit of miscommunication and we thought we wouldn't be able to get a refund because the contract states no refunds - We were glad to see that they helped us get everything worked out and issued a full refund for the cancelled event - It is great to have a company who is willing to work with you and make sure all your needs are met - I wish we had been able to hold our event at such a great place
I had my wedding here on Friday 10/21/16. There are a lot of hidden fees in their contract for example there's a 30% (of your venue price)outside catering fee, if you don't choose their preferred cater. There was a $1500 difference in price if we moved the wedding from Friday to Saturday. Due to a couple of family members passing this year, we thought about changing the wedding to next year, and we were told there was an almost $4000 difference. No one could explain why the price difference was so grand, that was just the price for next year. So we pushed forward with the wedding this year. We had the Crystal Ballroom and Hillside Terrace for our wedding venue. They failed to tell us it was furniture market weekend, so hotel accommodations for my guest were unable to be arranged. My maid of honor wanted to surprise me with an event planner to set up a floral photo booth for my reception, but she was told she couldn't be allowed in before 4:30. My wedding began at 6:30, all she wanted to do was come in set up the floral wall, and leave, but because of the time schedule the event planner had to cancel it. We had the venue from 4:30pm-11pm, which the wedding began at 6:30pm. 2 hours is not realistic when getting a bride and her bridesmaids ready. There was another wedding taken place across the venue, which we didn't have any problems with their guest. The venue is not well marked if another wedding is taken place. My Husband had signs made to direct our guest to the correct entrance and parking lot. The signs became very helpful because gps will have all guest come to the first entrance. In all, the ceremony came out beautiful, even the night time pictures were absolutely amazing.
Great Venue! Had my daughter's wedding there. Is so beautiful the grounds. the castle. The staff is the best, all you have to do is ask and its done. Fall is beautiful had a 6pm wedding outside and reception in the castle. Beautiful setting.
We all loved this venue - it made for a beautiful setting for our day. Our guests were truly astonished and everyone though it was incredible.
Gina was fabulous at helping arrange everything and things went very smoothly - we wanted to stay until 1am and they accommodated this for us too.
Tammy from castle catering helped out with some other bits for setting up etc which was also super helpful and everything came together perfect.
Just a little note to anyone re the bar as I thought this was included in the price, it's actually not so make sure you know how many hours and for how many people you are paying for otherwise it could surprise you later on.
I would highly recommend booking here for a day to remember.
Gina & Paulette were helpful throughout the planning, and Karyn helped with the execution of our wedding. The Castle was exquisite, and the staff as helpful as they could be. We can't thank them enough for helping to make our special day so memorable.
It is a lovely venue, but it's a little limited by it's surrounding area and businesses. There are also some somewhat hidden fees. I ended up paying over a thousand more than I had originally planned (based on my original estimate.)
One of the biggest drawbacks is a ~500 dollar outside catering fee, paired with the fact that none of the caterers they partner with were what we wanted.
For the package we got, I would say the venue is a little overpriced, especially considering the location it is in. I think the pricing would probably be more fair if the entire day was included, rather than the 6 and a half hours. Despite being a little overpriced, it was a very nice venue, and my day was basically perfect.
Just got married this past weekend over at Castle McCulloch in the Great Hall. I also had my reception in there. I had a couple rows set up in the front for our immediate families and the rest of the room already set up with tables for the reception and the rest of the guests sat at those. Mainly since we didn't have a "cocktail hour" and no where for guests to go during the changeover and we had heavy h'or de'vours for the main meal. Also helped save money with not having to "reset the room" in between ceremony and reception. Had 55 people total. It was definitely a beautiful place. Everyone kept complimenting the room, staircase, and of course, the chandelier. The building manager that day was very helpful and accommodating in making final room arrangement changes. There was a fraternity party going on in the Crystal Garden Ballroom but the Castle workers made sure to keep them separate and we never knew they were there. (aka NO Party Crashers!)
It's a little expensive if you have a decent size guest list (that can fit in the Hall) but not so much that it discouraged me from making it my venue. (From Raleigh Area, it was actually on the cheaper end in venue price). But make sure to ask EVERYTHING thats included in the room charges (and bar service if you have one). Also, its easier to keep in contact with the staff (during business hours, during the weekdays) by e-mail. Calling will result in voicemails. Also not exceptionally quick in responding but I had very few talks with them with how well I was organized! (Thank you, Ultimate Wedding Guide and Planner book and file folders!)
We got married inside the actual castle and it was beautiful. All we added were candles because the caste by default has undefeated ambiance. We only had a few issues, all of which were staff-related.
When emailing or calling with questions, they were slow to respond if they ever did.
We rented the Castle, which included the upstairs and down, the patio, and half of the bridge leading to the Crystal Ballroom. There was a wedding going on at the ballroom, which a gets their building, patio, and the other half of the bridge. Each also has their own parking lots, well separated.
The closer we got to the date, the more irritated our contact seemed by questions. She even tried to talk us out of our caterer because they weren't a preferred vendor. On the day of, they did not well mark the signs for the two different weddings, so we kept having the other wedding's guest coming into the castle. The day of contact was no where to be found at this time.
This culminated in the bride of the other wedding getting her photos taken outside our door as our guests were trying to come in. My mother knocked on the office door (a room we had been assured would be empty) and two people, one of which was our contact came out. She offered no apologies about the other wedding causing issues with us and it was my mom and dad that made the bride and photographer leave.
The location is beautiful, but make sure you have your own point person, especially if another wedding is happening at the Crystal Ballroom.
This venue is truly a North Carolina gem. The most unique venue I came across. The team made sure that my day went off without a hitch. The floor manager was present and helpful throughout the event. The only downside is that during the planning period they can be hard to reach, especially if you are looking to use their rental services.
The castle is really a dream come true from a purely visual point of view. We loved the view and the feel it added to our Wedding. However, were fast to nickel and dime us, were not organized often messing up bills, and they were constantly charging us for things we never saw a benefit from. Also they have tables and chairs that are of the nature you can't get away with not having covers for. The day of, the service was wonderful, they had everything ready on time and were very helpful, but before they were hard to get in touch with and they did not communicate well among each other.
Everything about Castle McCulloch was perfect! The staff was wonderful, they helped with everything, even contacted some of the vendors for me. The castle itself is gorgeous, there are so many wonderful places for photos and the lighting is perfect. We spent a smidge extra to get the a day before the wedding to do engagement photos there as well, it was totally worth it and they turned out great! It makes for a wonderful night that your guests will talk about for years to come! And it's affordable! Check them out!!
Castle McCulloch is a beautiful place to hold a wedding. we were married in Jan. so it was rather cold and we could not enjoy the outdoors as much as we would have liked. The castle staff was great to work with. although the only downfall was during our reception the womens restroom was not in service therefore all the women attending had to use the mens restroom. Overall it was an ok experience.
The venue itself was beautiful and my wedding was amazing. However, there were a few glitches that even being as "on top of things" as I were fell through. The Castle staff is not the best set of communicators, so that causes some issues. Additionally, I asked the staff to do a few things for me (save corks, our champagne bottle, etc.) and they did not do any of them, which was disappointing. It by no means ruined our wedding day, but the Castle is not the cheapest venue, so I had hoped they would step up the service a bit.
The place is absolutely gorgeous. The staff is extremely helpful and will do everything they can to help with any planning needs. I did find the place to be more than I budgeted for and pricey but it was worth it.
My Caterer was Vision Catering A+++ and my transportation Royal Limo A++ and my Photographer J.R. Reed A++ and Videographer Happy Tears Video A++ and DJ Clash A++ and Wedding Coordinator, Florist, Decorator, Etc A++...My Wedding was the Fairytale Wedding of my dreams!!
So pretty
Everything looked better than I expected! The only small thing that they closed the gates early, even before the time we had Castle reserved so when we came back in limo to pick up our cars gate were closed. People in a Castle were always helpful.
My husband and I got married here 6/16/13. The Great Hall area is a former gold refinery turned into a Castle for weddings and other events. This was the first place my husband and I looked at for a venue and I didn't want to look anywhere else! It was an amazing day and everyone said how beautiful and unique the location was! The staff were friendly and worked with us on any issues or questions we had. I would recommend this location to anyone looking for that fairytale wedding feel1
We had the best night of our lives, and it was because of how enchanting the crystal garden ball room brought such love to that room, on our special night. It had rained the entire day, and the windows were fogged up so it really did feel magical. Thank you so much!
We searched via Google to find the perfect wedding venue for our special day and we definitely found that with Castle McCulloch. The online pictures can give you an idea of how your wedding will be but to see it in person is beyond a thousand words! They made our special day above and beyond what we expected!! We would highly recommend them to anyone looking for a fun, unique, and beautiful wedding! Our ceremony was outside at the Hillside Terrace and reception in the Crystal Garden Ballroom. We will always have those great memories of how special this day was to us!!
Gorgeous! Absolutely amazing. Office staff was super nice and the event managers on point!! Love this place and can't wait to go back for anniversary party's!
Beautiful setting for a wedding. Overall a great place for the ceremony and reception. And really affordable compared to other locations we looked at. Staff was great as well. Only thing they could do better is to invest in new chairs in the Great Hall. The wooden chairs are worn and scratched up. Some cushions torn. We opted to have them removed and used the banquet chairs with covers. But be prepared. It costs $3.00 a chair to have them taken away. But I'm glad we did.
Good place for wedding amazed by the aura of the place we enjoyed our wedding day here plus thought it was a great deal for the money my only request would be to do it all again as we had so much fun thanks Tonya you are the best. Enjoyed.
We would recommend www.afalimo.com also for Service as they are also an excellent choice for this wedding Venue. We loved the Flowers by Christ in Highpoint thanks and we loved the Moats and water fountains and best of all the cool night pics by Bruce our photographer Thanks to all
I used Castle McCulloch for my ceremony and reception venue in January. They were terrible! I couldn't get in touch with them the week before my wedding because they kept having phone trouble and they were very unprofessional. IT WAS THE WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE EXPERIENCE EVER. I spoke with a specific representative that was very rude every time we spoke and she even called me back to FUSS AT ME on one occasion. Their rules are so strict - they don't allow rehearsals on Saturday nights without charging an additional $500 for TWO HOURS. Our wedding was on a Sunday and our contract included a "free" rehearsal time, but they didn't specify that they will charge for a Saturday rehearsal. It completely screwed up the schedule for my out of town guests and for the entire weekend. They only hold meetings with brides Monday through Friday from 8:00-5:00 and are not flexible for brides that are out of town. Their preferred vendor list is terrible! Our officiant stole a wine glass and hit a car and ran in the parking lot after the ceremony and our caterer closed six weeks before our wedding!!! Both were on the Castle's preferred vendor list. Brides please learn from my mistake. Do not work with Castle McCulloch!!!
I could not be more pleased with this venue. Everything was handled with superior service and attention. It made our day perfect! Everyone that attended felt in awe of the surroundings, something I really worried about since half or our guests drove from Florida to North Carolina! I just can't say enough good things about The Castle, it was also the cheapest venue of this type in NC! What a great deal! :)
Wondeful day!
I will start by saying that the venue is beautiful! However, definitely NOT WORTH THE MONEY!!! Reason being, pitifully poor customer service. The ladies you deal with are not on the same page. I was quoted one price, then charged an additional $1000. Took my complaint to the manager and was pretty much called a liar. The girl that quoted the incorrect price. I would have conceded and paid the higher fee and been okay if they would have admitted that she misquoted the price. Instead, they told me I misheard or made up the conversation that took place. Our wedding was in the Crystal Garden. Two of the three air conditioners were out so we were all hot. We had to have large, visually unappealing fans brought in to cool the area. They were loud as well. I urge anyone interested in this venue to look elsewhere. They stay extremely busy, and I believe that is why they have such poor customer service. You do not want to deal with these people while planning the happiest day of your life. I wish you luck in your search for a venue and hope this was helpful.
The castle made our dreams come true. Our wedding day was a fairy tale! Our only complaints were the venue was extremely hot (it was 98 degrees outside, but the AC could not keep the place cool) and there was some disorganization with the castle staff before our wedding. However, the venue is goregous and a great price!
We we're married in The Great Hall venue at Castle McCulloch. We chose The Great Hall because of the photo opportunities! We had a wonderful experience with the staff and choosing this venue. The only complaint I did have was that the water around the castle was not blue, but brown on the day of our wedding after we were told it would be blue. Overall, we had a great experience minus a few little things, but that's to be expected anywhere. It was a great venue for the money and the pictures turned out amazing and we got married, which is all that matters in the end! I would definitely recommend this venue to anyone looking for a beautiful and inexpensive place.
Our wedding was Beautiful! Fit for a princess!!
I loved how beautiful the place was. However, the difference between a saturday wedding and a thursday wedding was about 5x as much! I had to go with a thursday wedding to keep costs down since I wanted this vendor. Their services were great and they were wonderful people to work with. However, all it included was the rental of the space. I don't believe it fit the cost.
Castle McCulloch is beautiful, no matter which section of it you use. I had my ceremony in the Hillside Terrace and my reception in the Crystal Garden. It's great for pictures. The office staff is also great. I worked with Paulette and she was so friendly and helpful. No matter how many questions I asked or how many times I called she was always polite and smiling. The only issue I had was with building manager the day of the wedding. We paid for 3 hours of bar service and had panned on it being from 6:30-9:30. Things ran a little behind and none of the guests were there to begin using the bar service until 7:00. So even though we only got 2 and 1/2 hours of use out of the 3 hours we paid for, they would not extend the bar for that 30 minutes without us paying extra.
The Crystal Garden at Castle McCulloch is a beautiful venue. It is reflective and had the ambiance that I wanted. When I walked into the reception it looked exactly how I had always pictured my reception looking. The people at the Castle are very friendly and helpful. However, the rules put in place by the owner seem extreme to me. They were sometimes difficult to work with. I would not change where I had my reception because it was the exact atmosphere I was looking for.
My whole experience with this venue was positive. Loved the special and unique location with beautiful surroundings. I wasn't too keen on the fake grass outdoor carpet that lined the pathways, but I understand its use. I would recommend that you attend one of the castle's wedding expos in order to see the full potential. Very professional.
The people were so helpful and cooperative!
beautiful location, just not worth the money
The location is breathtaking and has three separate venues. With the Queen's Chambers you have the inner chamber for the ceremony, the outer chamber for the reception, and a private dressing room for the bride. The staff is wonderful and they supply the tables and chairs. The whole thing for 6 hrs is less than $1,000.
The Crystal Garden Ballroom at Castle McCulloch was the perfect location for my wedding. It was elegant and beautiful while still capturing the beautiful outdoors. We received so many compliments and everything was wonderful!
Our wedding was beautiful and regal all due to the atmosphere the castle created.
Castle McCulloch made my dream wedding come true. The grounds are beautiful, and full of magic. The price was amazing for such an amazing place. I would love to have another event there anytime. They have a lot of rules, but it is to keep the castle looking fantastic. I would recommend to anyone looking for a unique place to have a wedding!
My experience at this venue was a fairytale. It is a very decent price for any budget and is naturally beautiful.
My wedding was on a Sunday evening in June and it was gorgeous. It rained, but cleared up just in time so it was beautiful for pictures. The venue was gorgeous.
Our budget was small so we didn't rent their ironworks or anything like that. We just put sunflowers in vases and made our own decorations. It was simple but beautiful.
They were very knowledgeable about their venue and were able to suggest the best way to set things up and such.
I only have one hiccup with them... It had to do with another wedding being outdoors and the other party not wanting to hear our bagpipes. So we had to delay our wedding when we had already sent out our invitations and everything. The other groom was a royal pain in the butt but the older lady that was helping us out was able to settle our angers and in the end it rained and so we got to have our bagpipes on time because the other wedding had to move inside!! (serves that grouchy groom right for being such a stick in the mud--its a castle... bagpipes are NORMAL! :o) )
I would totally recommend this venue to anyone. It's gorgeous and everyone loved it. Our pictures were awesome and if you have any questions just ask! Mustlovespoon@yahoo.com
It's kinda pricey but if you think about it, its a castle, it doesn't need as much decorations as other venues so it kinda works itself out. Sundays are cheaper... :o)
It was everything that I ever dreamed! It was truly my fairy tale wedding day!!
My wedding venue was on a hill top with a picturesque view of a lake and a castle behind it. With a beautiful veranda my guests could walk around and enjoy the colors of autumn and the amazing view as well as torches lit everywhere to light the path and building.
