Great customer service and flexible policies
My husband and I bought our wedding bands from Catbird and had a great experience trying them on at the wedding annex. The staff was very attentive and did not pressure us to purchase during the appointment. Unfortunately for us, when we went to their main store to order the rings it was a very popular time, but that's entirely our fault. Their team was very responsive and they created and engraved the rings in about 3 weeks time. Thanks Catbird!
We bought our wedding bands from Catbird and both were SO HAPPY! I adore this place and was so happy we were able to support them – they really align with our political views and I found it to be super modern, unlike what I would imagine some ring purchasing experiences to be like. I really, really wanted to support local jewelers (we live in Brooklyn), a women-owned business, and a business who is invested in sustainability (in an otherwise awful diamond industry)! I originally had visited Catbird’s wedding annex to find an engagement ring, and found a jeweler through them where I found the engagement ring of my antique/vintage/non-traditional dreams (Digby & Iona, for reference). However, Catbird also sells this brand – just didn’t carry the exactly vision for my engagement ring.
Making an appointment both times was super easy. I found the engagement ring appointment to be nice and individualized/personalized. We were one of two couples in there and she didn’t rush us. The wedding band appointment was definitely hectic, though. I didn’t find that we got that much personalized attention even though we had an appointment, and I had to wait a while to get an attendant’s attention – I think they overbooked. I would just recommend they pare back appointments, since people are choosing between Catbird and in some cases big, impersonal retailers that don’t care about sustainability (and I want more people to support businesses like Catbird!).
Another great thing about Catbird is that they carry a wide range of styles and prices, and we appreciated that as we were budget constrained (and I’m very picky). We ended up with two bands made by Catbird that fit within our budget (for reference, my husband’s gold, round band was around $1,000 and mine was a thing, simple twisted gold ring around $250 – which went perfectly with my ornate/antique engagement ring!). Overall, would highly recommend – please go support this fabulous, modern, badass business that is trailblazing the wedding industry!
I loved the unique style of ring options instead of cookie-cutter jewelry stores. The staff had a ton of patience as I asked questions and took notes on styles and material. Took about three weeks for my ring to come in, just plan accordingly.
I had my eyes on a Catbird wedding band for a while, like pre-pre-pre-engagement. I happen to work nearby to their Bedford Ave storefront and had popped in a couple times at all different business hours to look around and get price estimates. I don't know if the popularity of Catbird means that the staff doesn't have to work hard for you to like them, but I felt in all my interactions (especially the one where I was dropping nearly 1k on a wedding band) like I wasn't being valued as a customer. After hovering by the commitment jewelry section and making eye contact with the staff several times I had to physically walk over to the desk and ask for someone's help so that I could order my ring. After that, I wasn't very clearly walked through the process of what ordering entailed and when to expect my ring (in fact, it was about a week and a half later than my estimated time frame, but thankfully I'm local and it wasn't a huge deal). I've actually purchased a number of small jewelry items from them over the years and felt that in this major purchase should have perhaps been treated with a little more significance as, whether they realize it or not, their customers (and especially those who wear their bridal jewelry) are walking advertisers. Ultimately I love, love, love my ring, and I knew what I wanted going into it all. It is a perfect compliment to my engagement ring (Catbird offers such unique designs and shapes). I would like to continue to go to them for special jewelry purchases but would hope in the future their staff would be more inviting and helpful.
I am beyond happy with the wedding band I bought at Catbird. It is so thin and delicate but still very strong and durable - I'm confident it will last a lifetime. I needed a wedding band that had a slight curve to fit my engagement ring, which has a really low setting and a circular stone and halo. I tried on many other rings in other stores but nothing accommodating my engagement ring while still looking unique and beautiful on its own. I made an appointment at Catbird and I was shown several different options that had a slight dip and worked with my ring. I love how all the styles came in white gold, yellow gold, and rose gold. I ended up choosing a rose gold band with tiny diamonds all around, to go with my white gold engagement ring. Loved the mixed metals and am so happy with the decision. I get a lot of joy from looking at my hand and seeing these two beautiful rings, and thinking about what they represent in my life. It makes me very happy.
My fiancé ordered my engagement ring from Catbird and I absolutely love it. It has a vintage look to it, but was made to order for me. My particular ring is white gold without rhodium plating over the gold (what most modern white gold rings have to give a truly white look), but I love that mine has a natural and unique look. The setting is a little small, but it has a lovely hexagon shaped setting, and the diamond is so sparkly (and conflict free!) I would definitely recommend Catbird for a unique and timeless engagement ring.
I took a bit of a gamble ordering my wedding ring sight unseen, but I knew I wanted something unusual and Catbird seemed to have lots of things that fit my personality. I ended up finding a designer ring by Elisa Solomon that was really neat with white diamonds, black diamonds and a sapphire. I contacted them because I ordered my ring kind of late, and was assured it would arrive in time. (it still had to be made) A week before the wedding I freaked out when I realized it hadn't come so I contacted them again and they got it in the mail!!! I don't know if the shop, or the designer was behind, or forgot...but they overnighted it and it got here two days before the wedding....so it made it and I guess that's what counts right? : ) They are a great place to look if you want something different from what everyone else has! Super nice people.
Great prices on diamond engagement rings and wedding bands by local designers. They also carry wedding bands for men. I would recommend going to the shop during the week, as weekends can be quite crowded.
