I arrived at the venue to find the only people there were two guys dropping off table cloths. We had decided on all cream for the dining tables and black for cocktail tables. They brought black for the dining tables and white for the cocktail tables. They said that they could not switch them out and after my day-of coordinator made them call Carson, the best they could provide was a mix of cream and white. In addition to the wrong colors, they didn't bring the long top table table cloths so my bridal party ended up being squeezed onto shorter tables with once again the wrong color table cloths.
Next up was the fact that my mother and I ended up being the ones that had to put out all of the chargers, decorations, favors etc... all because their staff did not show up until the very last minute. I was putting everything out until 4:30 and the ceremony started at 5. We had so much to do that I didn't have any time in the bridal suite with my bridesmaids and simply had to go upstairs, put on my dress and go! I missed out on valuable time and ended up with very few pictures before the ceremony.
As we got into the cocktail hour, the bar staff did not put out our signature cocktail and seemed less than pleased that we were doing a champagne toast.
I cannot stress how many times I was told "Dont worry! You just tell us what you want and we make sure that it happens!" and the service that we received was simply the opposite of that. Carson set these expectations and then didn't follow through and she didn't even show up on the day to help.
Overall, the food was the only good thing about Mopsies. The service was so terrible that I would never recommend Mopsies to any couples. As I said before, the one and only thing about my wedding day that was stressful was Mopsies lack of service and professionalism.
I did reach out to Mopsies but they never responded.

In response to your table linens, what was on your contract we...
re 10 black round table linens and 3 ivory rectangular linens, not what you stated in your review. Please review your contract. During setup it was brought to my attention that the linens you ordered was not enough to cover all the tables you wanted to use. Luckily we did bring a few extra linens and we did the best we could to cover the tables you did not order. And we did not charge you for the extra linens we needed to complete your table setup.
In regards to your décor, we do not setup décor for any event. I'm sorry you were disappointed you had to put your own chargers on the tables. If you had rented them from us it would have been included in the rental price.
In regards to your bar signature drinks, my bartender said you only had 2 small mason jars of each drink. This was not enough to last more than 30 mins. So after 30 mins there were no more signature drinks available. Possibly you assumed it was not served but it most surely was served. In response to the champagne toast, again that was not a service you purchased from us. When your sister asked my bartender to put several champagne glasses filled on a tray she was probably upset that my bartender did not follow that order. It is against TABC policy to allow anyone to serve alcohol who is not licensed. While it was another service you did not pay for, we were accommodating by allowing your guest to come to the bar for a glass of champagne. Champagne toast are always welcomed but it is an additional service that was not contracted. Also, I was informed by my sales manager that she did reach out to you and there was no response from you.

ring the cocktail hour, as there were no bamboo picks or forks in sight. Wait staff said they did not have anything for guests to use to manage the dumplings. Also, the bride and groom spent time selecting their wedding cake, to share with guests during this most important day. As guests went to dance, wait staff tossed out our guests uneaten cake....such a disappointment for us. Note to Mopsies Owners, don’t forget the little details. Please instruct your wait staff to not remove a guests plate or serving of wedding cake, without speaking directly to the guest. Hoping this note improves service for the next wedding party.

We had an outdoor wedding and a cold front came through that day, and somehow Mopsie managed to keep all the food very warm and still tasting excellent! Their setup included a staff member who brought my husband and myself a plate of food before all the other guests and refilled our drinks; this was amazing because a bride and groom usually have hardly any time to eat on their wedding day as you have so many guests to greet. ers to select from. Needless to the say there was a lack of follow through with set up as requested various times over email. We were disappointed in their lack of flexibility with changes in timeline on the day of the wedding, which resulted in cold food being served and not having the complimentary butler as in contract for bride and groom. Although the prime rib was excellent, the forks during cocktail hour were missing and the pasta in Alfredo was over cooked. When we expressed these things along with other hiccups only two short days following the event, they took staff's word over our own - so the bad experience was followed by decreased commitment to customer service/satisfaction. Next time I would consult with more catering vendors prior to making a final decision - they are known for BBQ and we should have been more aware of that before taking them out of there comfort zone.
RESPONSE TO THE COMPANY'S COMMENT BELOW: I would not typically do this, BUT I do not appreciate the the false comment "satisfying the mother of the bride." The response to our email listing our complaints was far from satisfying as it was a list of excuses. Their response to this review highlights those excuses and lack of flexibility. I do not believe we are the first wedding to run late, nor will be the last. All vendors adjusted accordingly. We have not at any point expected perfection; however, we simply are disappointed in their refusal to take accountability for their shortcomings during our event. Side note: We do not have a group of family and friends that would come to beautiful wedding and complained including ourselves, which is why we waited to discuss these concerns shortly following the event.

If you are reading this review, we think it is important to note that there was much advance planning, a final walk through with layout and timeline being composed, additional team briefings after changes were made prior to the event and severa...
l updates to the final event order document after the due date 2 weeks prior, in conjunction with the coordinator to try and accommodate the changes in layout, timeline and menu well after the standard time frame. These significant changes and the fact that the timeline not being followed by the client's the night of, can always create challenges that we do the absolute best to accommodate . If changes and lack of follow through by the client day of, regarding the agreed upon timeline and flow can absolutely affect the success of the event. If there are major changes on site that deviate from the meticulous advance planning , it can affect the food service. Regarding the food comment, most venues do not allow on site cooking and do not in fact have full kitchens (We are on the preferred vendor list at over 76 venues around Austin and know them well). But in the case of the alfredo, we had many compliments on site from the guests of this particular event and the mother of the bride was very thankful and complimentary of our team. Any concerns that came up day of were addressed by our captain right away and handled, satisfying the mother of the bride.

I needed, showing reasonable flexibility, and her staff were well prepared for the event. Their prices are extremely reasonable, and I received many compliments on the brisket and chicken. Because of the variety of food and sides they offered, we were able to satisfy all the guests and had plenty of food left over that I sent home with my family! I loved how they also included a complimentary water/coffee station and cake cutting. There was one small issue since my wedding cake was small and between many other desserts on the dessert table, so the servers were hesitant to try to cut it and did not seem to know how to problem-solve, and therefore did not want to cut the cake. My sister had to step in and move the cake to another table where they had space to cut it after a brief "argument" (her words). Other than that they were really helpful, efficient, and friendly! I would recommend Catering by Mopsie for any event!

ers. We had some sort of problem with the scallops wrapped in bacon so the caterer brought the scallops back out after unwrapping them from the bacon. We also ordered an ice cream bar and they served the ice cream on plates....strangely neglecting bowls. Guests steered away, fearing dumping ice cream on themselves. All the food delivered to us, the couple, specially was cold and not that tasty. Finally, for some weird reason, they thought we choose not to serve red wine and thus did not have an red wine available. However, rather than focusing on the food, my husband and I were focused on each other and making sure our guests had a good time so it was a blip on our screen. Bottom line, I would not recommend Mopsie if you want to be certain about the quality.

t’s rare for me to feel the need to respond to a review, I believe your comments will help others who are reading this understand how to avoid a similar experience. While we perform over 400 events a year I was fortunate to be at this event and can speak first hand to your comments.
Regarding our lack of communication – This was very disappointing to hear from my sales manager. One of the greatest compliments we receive from our clients is how available we are to answer questions you may have leading up to your Big Day. But this was not the case with your event. Your wedding coordinator was our ONLY contact. All decisions were made by her and through her. In fact your contract didn’t even have your name on it. It was your coordinator’s name. Rare, but we were following her instructions only work through her during the entire process. We enjoy speaking to our clients! We desire to make sure you completely understand catering process and make sure you are completely comfortable with what to expect to happen on your big day. So, for those reading please don’t hesitate to call us if you have any questions. That is what we are here for!
Regarding no red wine – This was very disappointing for me to hear as I had a conversation with your coordinator regarding this very comment at the beginning of your event. When she asked me about the red wine I explained to her that her upgraded wine selection replaced the red wines. But I did have them available if you wanted to add these to your beverage selections. This could have easily been fixed but your coordinator did not want to add the red wine for any additional cost and asked me to just provide one bottle for the groom. We were following your coordinators instructions. We follow instructions. That’s what we do best!
Regarding food quality – This was also very disappointing for me to hear as I personally made the plates for you and Trey. I hand cut your prime rib and plated your sides straight out of our state-of-the-art warmers and brought them immediately to your seats before anyone else came through the buffet.
After serving all of your guest I enjoy walking around and getting feedback. You should know that I received nothing but praise for the food. In fact, I remember conversing with a gentleman from New York who love his smoked prime rib so much he came back for another steak. I tried the food myself and it was completely consistent with how we have prepared it for the last 30 years that I have had it. Usually most of our clients attend one of our monthly tasting events. I see that you chose not to participate in one of our free tastings. Our tasting events give our clients an opportunity to sample their meal along with other food items you may want to add to your menu. It’s unfortunate your missed that important part of the process. But rest assured, serving subpar food is not what we do.
Again, I’m terribly sorry you were disappointed with our services. On behave of myself and of my 120 employees I hope that my comments will give you (and my future clients who read this) a better understanding of how to better prepare yourself for a successful catering event.

We decided to upgrade our sides for only a couple of dollars more which was worth it to us to select macaroni and cheese, rosemary red potatoes, and seasonal sautéed veggies for achieving the ultimate comfort food dining experience for us and our guest. Everyone raved about our food and said it was one of the best meals they had ever eaten at a wedding giving them full bellies and happy hearts! They also cut and served our wedding cake for us. Amy and her team were very professional and attentive to work with throughout the planning process! Definitely attend one of their open house catering experiences to sample their wonderful food selection which will help you choose what you would like to serve at your wedding. At the end of the night, they packed up hearty filled to- go- boxes of our catering food and several pieces of our cake which we noshed on for days after our wedding. There was a dedicated runner to bring the wedding party appetizers while we were taking photos during cocktail hour, and the bride/groom were served individual platters instead of having to go through the buffet line, which allowed us some much needed alone time to breathe in between the whirlwind of the wedding day. The wait staff arrived early and were patient, professional and super helpful during the event set up, going above and beyond to chip in with things like balloon untangling while waiting for banquet tables to be delivered (from another source). I and placed it at our tables before we even sat down. They checked on us throughout the dinner and made sure that we were satisfied. My favorite part was when the head-caterer ran all the way across the street to where we were taking photos to ask what my favorite salad dressing was! At the end of the night, Mopsie boxed us up some dinners and made sure they were in the car to head wherever we were. And last, but not least, I got a vital piece of advice from the one of the servers (bummed I don't remember his name): Before we made our grand exit, he told me "remember to stop a couple of times and kiss each other-- it looks great for pictures!". Amy was really easy to work with and extremely nice! Our final menu was: spinach and artichoke empanadas, chicken and beef fajitas (with grilled veggies and all the fixins), fruit tray and punch. Everything tasted amazing and our friends and family from around the world (Iran, Germany, Belgium, etc.) loved the taste of Texas.
On top of the food being great, the staff was wonderful. We had a staff member bring the wedding party water and snacks while we took pictures. During the reception, I always had a staff member asking if they could get me something. They even brought dinner to my husband and I so we could sit and relax. They all had a smile on their face and really seemed to enjoy being there.
