My wedding was on May 25, 2024 and everyone truly enjoyed the delicious food. The professionalism of the wait staff was excellent. I would definitely recommend them.
We got married in the Chesapeake Ballroom at Celebrations At The Bay in April 2023. From the initial consultation to the the minute we packed up and left the venue, everything went super smoothly! Everybody was so helpful and the day was flawless! Mother Nature helped provide us with a beautiful evening for our outdoor ceremony. The setting on the water was perfect. Our day of coordinator was great. The apps were all amazing and the crab cake was worthy of being called a “Maryland style crab cake”. We really believe we had the best day ever and are super thankful for everyone that helped us along the way!
We were thrilled with our entire experience with Catering by Uptown who partnered with Chutney Restaurant to put together our amazing Western-Indian fusion menu for our wedding in July. Our guests have raved about the delicious food choices including appetizers and main dishes. We were very happy with the quality, options, and prices of the food we were able to serve. Being able to provide a beautiful cake for a low cost was a huge plus for us as well. The catering staff and coordinators were wonderful to work with and very attentive. They were great with serving our own alcohol which made alcohol costs more affordable for us and let us put our own mark on the bar. Their services went beyond food as they provided beautiful table arrangements including centerpieces at no extra cost. We would highly recommend Catering by Uptown to anyone planning a DC-area wedding!

I don’t know where to even start! We had plans on getting married at the bayfront we really like the view everything was beautiful but things happen Covid jobs life ect. Ann if you get the chance to meet her she is simple amazing she keep me calm we found another way to make our wedding still happen (anniversary twins now) she always worked with me and was always there when needed even though it was her wedding anniversary she still checked in on me the day of which really means a lot! Then I got the chance to meet Esther one of the most nicest person We had the pleasure of meet as well very laid back very good energy to be around and I appreciate her showing me the knollview house and we FELL IN LOVE. Tracy was our point of contact up to the wedding and I know I definitely over did the questions and emails but she was there for me and my now husband on every single question we had she made sure we understood And got back to us right away! Lastly my day of coordinator <3 Helen thank you I think I spoke with you for a short period of time the day before and I was worried i needed everything to be perfect and when I say everything was done exactly how I wanted there wasn’t ONE thing she forgot she made sure I was ok she checked on us throughout the night she made sure I was personally ok I saw her enjoying herself and I have pictures of her in the background smiling from ear to ear just to see us happy enjoying moments that she knew were important to us. I really hope each and everyone of you know how special you all are and how thankful We are for catering by uptown. Sorry for the lengthy review but I had to give individual thanks!
Catering by uptown was the best! Our wedding was magical thanks to them! The service, the food, the venue, everything was perfect!!! The venue coordinator Margot was great!! I cannot thanked them enough for the wonderful service they provided us with, for the delicious food they served us, for the beautiful venue they provided us, for the exceptional experience we had on our wedding!! I’m already planning my daughter’s quinceañera in a few years in this place because of the good experience we had here. I recommend this place %100!!
Used Catering by Uptown for our July wedding and cannot get compliments for the food, cake, and venue! They were very easy to work with and responded promptly to all emails. Their crab cakes were to die for!
Cratering by uptown made my wedding day everything I could have imagined! The professional staff made sure everything I don’t even know I needed was covered making it easy for me to just relax and enjoy my special day. Kenisha and I connected right away!
Catering by Uptown was our caterer/vendor for a wedding at the Torpedo Factory Art Center. The had an hour and a half to set up all the furniture for the ceremony and reception and the mobile kitchen. They pulled it all off seamlessly! I had two day-of coordinators to help orchestrate the day and they both were so sweet and thoughtful. Ya-Maila was detailed and quick on her feet, and the kitchen manager (didn't catch her name) was so kind and thoughtful.
Some of our favorite details; they gave us the passed appetizers that we missed out on at dinner, and Ya-Maila set our unity candle sticks at the head table.
They went above and beyond to make our special day run so smoothly, it was really magical thanks to them!
I would absolutely recommend the Anchor Inn/Catering by Uptown to anyone and everyone! We loved every single second of our wedding day and could not get over how beautiful it all turned out. We had guests complimenting the view, food and vibe of the venue all night long! My little sister even wants to have her wedding here in a few years, so that’s when you know it’s amazing! From the delicious food and the incredible view to the helpful coordinators and their timely responses, I am so grateful I chose one of Catering by Uptown's wedding venues.
We got married at Anchor Inn in Pasadena. It is a BEAUTIFUL venue. Catering by Uptown was fantastic to work with from start to finish. With the pandemic, we knew we wanted to limit the total number of vendors we had to work with in the event we needed to postpone....which we did! It was soooo much less stress to have our venue, food, linens/place settings, part of our decor, uplighting, cake and so much more all tied together. The food and cake were both delicious! Esther was our point person throughout much of the planning and Mira took care of us for our rehearsal and wedding day. Both were fantastic to work with and kept everything running smoothly from planning to execution!
My husband and I had the BEST experience with Catering by Uptown. The staff was so efficient, friendly, and attentive. Things went so smoothly and everyone I know was RAVING about the food. If I ever get married again (seriously joking but not really) I would use them again and again.
We chose to go with Catering by Uptown for our wedding and we are so glad we did! The food was delicious and we are still getting compliments from our guests saying that it was the best wedding food they’ve ever had! The day of staff was super nice and accommodating and the options for food were vast. No guest left hungry. We would recommend Catering by Uptown!
I couldn’t say anything bad about this place. From the moment I signed my contract everyone was professional and accommodating. The venue was amazing and beautiful all my guests were taking away by how beautiful everything was. My day of supervisor was awesome she made sure I was happy and got everything I needed and wanted. We went with Catering by Uptown (CBU) because they owned the beautiful waterfront venue and had an all inclusive service with catering/linens, drinks, cake, set-up and break-down, a planner/day of coordinator, and servers. Originally we wanted the Celebrations location, but only had the Anchor Inn on our specified date. However, we were super pleased with the Anchor Inn; it's absolutely beautiful! The only con was that the normal bridal suite was still being renovated so we had to use a makeshift one and the Groom and his party did not have a place to hang out.
Their planning website was very helpful and had lots of information, but it did not have the best user interface. We were assigned Cassidy as our planner and she was super friendly and answered all our questions. We met her at the CBU offices to choose all our décor and try the menu. The food was all very delicious, but we feel like the food did taste better at the tasting than at our actual wedding.
We opted to not do a rehearsal at the venue because of the price and scheduling, which did lead to a little bit of stress but it all turned out fine.
We were given a different person for our day-of-planner, Veronica, who was absolutely AMAZING, though I think CBU handed our paperwork to her fairly late. However, Veronica was a star and made sure that we were all taken care of. She was very attentive and kept us on schedule.
We paid by check in person to avoid the extra credit card fee. They don't take Zelle.
Overall, we were very pleased with the service for our wedding!
I lead a busy life and do not live in the state of Maryland. I am so grateful I picked celebrations by the bay as my wedding venue. They made everything so easy. Katie was amazing. Eileen our day of coordinator was God sent. We had so many last minute changes. She accommodated us and helped us with so much. She was helpful, kind, fun, hard working, creative, and incredible at her job. She is responsible for making my wedding one of the best days of my life. I am so grateful I had her by my side. She eased all my worries. Our wedding was majestic. I would pick it again in a heartbeat. I have friends who are getting married within the next two years coming up to me asking me if they can use it as a wedding venue. I definitely recommended it to them. EILEEN, THANK YOU <3
From the first meeting and all the way up to the ending of the event: our service was amazing. Even working through Covid - the venue was understanding and willing to work with us with guest numbers and accommodations. We absolutely adore our executive planner Shonda who was delightful to work with. Very attentive to us.
Imagine the stress of having to plan a wedding in a pandemic? Imagine planning a wedding in 2 Months. Imagine having to work 80-90 hours during those 2 months. My husband, then fiancé, asked me to marry him during one of the busiest times of the year for me. He said he didn’t want to wait another day and was hoping to get married this year. Me being a date girl, I called vendors and Jeff helped me with one last venue on 10/10/2020 they had. I seriously booked just because he had a location.
The day of the tasting, a lady walks in confident and happy. I know that is our girl. The tasting was hands down the best best best food we have had. We ate it all. Yummy!!!! We are now excited about the food. So, then she starts asking us about colors. I can’t believe that they do it all! Decor included? You mean to tell me all I need is a DJ? No way?
Yup! They do it all. Shonda Cherry explains that
some Brides want more and bring more decor but that if I’m wanting simple and elegant she can make it happen. Wow! I left that tasting feeling like I had a thousand pounds taken off my chest.
Two months later. My arch got stuck in customs, my giant letters that spelled out XXMMXX, were not delivered. The lady on Etsy emails me a few days before. Literally all my focal pieces weren’t going to come.
Although I had bought a few focal pieces, a runner, a wooden name, and a welcome sign; my wedding was Beautiful!!! Mostly because they did all the decor!

What can I say. This was the best day of my life, aside from the birth of my children. The weather held up and our church ceremony was great. But the reception was beyond compare. We are, practically, a month out of our wedding date and our guest are still raving about it. The food was phenomenal; the decor was beyond this world; and the staff personnel were so accommodating. Our original coordinator, Shonda Cherry crossed ever T and dotted every I and due to a family emergency was unable to attend, but left us in great hands. Margo and Caroline went above and beyond for my family. My daughter has gained a friend in Caroline as well. And to think this all happened through a pandemic. I would use Catering by Uptown any day of the week. Everything was perfect. Shonda, Margo, and Caroline were the best and represented your company to the fullest. I am so thankful and appreciative for all you did.
We had our wedding at the Anchor Inn yesterday, 10.9.20 and just needed to write this review while everything is still fresh in our minds.
We booked the beginning of Dec 2018 with Anne Portell who was so wonderfully amazing and sweet. We live in Pasadena so this venue was very convenient location wise and it was an absolutely gorgeous venue in the water. We originally had Olivia as our planning executive but after reaching out Feb of this year (2020) I found out that she was no longer with the company and was assigned to Shonda. So with our wedding coming up, I had to reach out to get the ball rolling.
Fast forward, with all that went on with the worries and stress of COVID. I had to continually reach out to get any details. Once we were about 3-4 months closer to our date, Shonda was reaching out more frequently. Overall, she was very attentive and was able to answer all our questions.
Just a few things that went wrong during our actual wedding day that left a very bad impression on us. When we toured the venue I fell in love with the gorgeous, beautiful bridal suite upstairs, but did not find out that it was no longer available and being redone again bc of not being up to fire code standard. Shonda told when we met the night before for the rehearsal. There was apparently an email that went out but we clearly did not get it. Them the day of, not that big of a deal but I had specific locations/tables for decorations, but they were not followed and incorrect. As a bride this was important. Next, Shonda mentioned to us during our tasting that she always sends home a meal for the bride and groom at the end of the night because she knows how busy we are and do not necessarily eat our whole meal. We did not receive a meal. We were also told that we would be checked on throughout dinner and have someone assigned to us for drinks. My Fiancé ended up just getting up constantly to the bar to get his own drinks. We also were missing a few of the hors d’oeuvres and lobster bisque, which we obviously did not get to try. And lastly, with the help of my parents and no assistance from staff or planning executive, we loaded our vehicle at the end of the night.
Overall, the location was beautiful and the food was delicious, which all our guests raved about.
On Friday, August 21, 2020 my now husband and I had the honor of having our wedding at the Anchor Inn in Pasadena, MD. We had planned to get married May 1, 2020 but due to Covid 19, we had to postpone until August 21, 2020. We initially met with Heidy, who showed us the Knollview house and we immediately fell in love with the place, we signed the contract the same day and immediately started planning. Months later, we had our food tasting and met with Lauren, our wedding planner. She was amazing every step of the way! Anything and everything we had questions regarding and any requests we had, she was happy to answer and assist. During the Covid shutdown, I was very upset about the shutdown, rescheduling/postponing our day, wearing masks, etc. One of the owners, Suzanne personally reached out, spoke with me and calmed me down. Prior to Lauren leaving the company, she assisted us in moving our wedding/reception to the Anchor Inn to ensure we could have our reception indoors due to the Covid restrictions. Lauren left the company and we completed the remainder of our planning details with Maddy, who was very helpful and just as amazing as Lauren was.
We met with Brittany, our day of coordinator the Monday prior to the wedding at our drop off appointment. She was so helpful and detail oriented. She went through every little detail of what we wanted, where we wanted items, order of events, etc. Some things we never even thought of. Our big day finally arrived and everything was AMAZING!!!! This was by far NOT Brittany's first time running the show! She was on point with everything! Prior to the ceremony she even brought us and some of the bridal party plates of horderves and drinks. She delegated tasks to our bridal party and the people we asked to help set up. She made everything happen without a glitch! She even kept an extra set of eyes on our son throughout the evening. I have never met someone so organized and 100% on top of things the way she was! She is a GREAT asset to the team! A few guests told us she was a bit pushy, but in the hustle and bustle of everything going on, this is what we needed! We appreciated her getting everything done, staying on schedule, keeping everything moving and making our day incredible. Brittany made our wedding day better than we ever expected and we cannot thank Catering by Uptown enough!!!
Thank you so much to everyone at Catering By Uptown for all the help, assistance and willingness to work with us through a pandemic on top of the stress of planning a wedding. We could not be happier with the way our Wedding went and we are so pleased we were able to postpone and still have our special day! We will be boasting about and referring our family and friends to Catering By Uptown for years to come.

When you have your wedding ask to be with SHONDA she was the best definitely made sure to make me feel like the most important bride!!!! The food was absolutely delicious and the drinks as well!! Shonda Cherry at Town and Country Ballroom was nothing short of amazing. She remained so cool, calm, and collected with each and every one of my freak out moments even when I was almost drawn to tears. Regardless if she was uncertain in these most uncertain times during this pandemic she remained professional and if she didn’t know the answer to the ever changing state regulations she would get back immediately to me with one and posed it to me in a way that was acceptable even if I didn’t want to accept it, lol. I was just happy to still be able to get married during these times at such a lovely venue and have someone so pleasant as her to assist on our day. Shonda was so accommodating and very attentive and responsive whenever I would call or text with questions or concerns. My mom loved her so much that she wanted to stop by again to give her one last big hug for being so wonderful to us. I highly recommend working with Shonda. She’s a gem 💎

We had our wedding at Celebrations at the Bay in Pasadena, MD. We had such an amazing experience, from the very start. Anne was the member of the sales team that we worked with. She was the BEST! She was so incredibly sweet, helpful, and very responsive when we had any questions or concerns. The entire process leading up to the wedding was stress free. Madison was our day of coordinator, and we could not recommend her more! She was kind, patient and easy going, but very on top of everything! She had every detail covered and the entire day ran so smoothly because of her! The food was AMAZING, and we continue to have guests compliment us on how delicious it was! Our wedding day by far exceeded any expectations we had, and we are so thankful we chose to work with Catering by Uptown. Thank you Catering by Uptown for the top notch service and memories that will last a lifetime!

The venue's location was perfect for the wedding. The coordinator was so very helpful and made things run smoothly. The food was absolutely delicious and all the guest said the meals were served hot. The presentation of the food was very impressive. Everything we requested was done in a professional manner without flaws. I highly suggest this venue for future events.

The best venue EVER!
There aren't enough words to describe Catering by Uptown and their flawless team. My husband and I are so incredibly happy that we went with them for our wedding! We loved Anchor Inn. It was absolutely amazing and it's all thanks to Catering by Uptown. Our Day of Coordinator, Aimee, was the star of the show. She is absolutely amazing. She was the reason that the day went as smooth as it did! She was on top of EVERYTHING. From coordinating my other vendors, getting things started on time and following the timeline, making sure dinner ran smoothly, making sure my husband and I had food/drinks, she did it all. I know there are so many things that I didn't even realize happened because she is that amazing and took care of everything on her own. We relaxed and enjoyed our wedding because of her. I am starting to tear up thinking about how amazing she is and everything she did for us. The staff at Catering was amazing. We had our ceremony indoors and they took care of the room flip flawlessly. The food was excellent and everything was just so great. We loved that the venue took care of a lot of the big details -- linens, tables, chairs, the bar, our beautiful cake, etc. Our entire experience with Catering By Uptown was fantastic. From having a tour with Anne a year ago, to meeting Olivia for our tasting a few months prior, and having Aimee as our Day of Coordinator! All of our guests are still raving about how awesome our wedding was and it's all because of Catering by Uptown!!!! Thank you!
If you want an AMAZING WEDDING this is the place to go! Great staff, great service, very punctual and attentive! I could NOT have asked for a better wedding! Thank you to Anne for making it all happen and to Lauren our planner and day of coordinator that made it as perfect as I wanted it to be! If I could give more stars I would! We worked with Lauren on the planning team, and she was phenomenal! The tastings were perfect, the linen choices were amazing, and she was very quick to respond with any questions or requests I had... I usually heard back from her within 24 hours!
Our catering supervisor was Shonda, and OMG, I have no words to describe how amazing she was! Shonda made sure I had nothing to worry about the entire day. I didn't find out until after our honeymoon about things that didn't go according to plan, and that's exactly how I wanted it!
The food was absolutely incredible, and the cake was fantastic, as well. My guests all loved that there were 2 entrees on each plate, and they didn't have to pick just one! Everyone seemed to enjoy the dinner, the cake, and the open bar, and we were thrilled with the service from the entire team!
Choosing Celebrations at the Bay and Catering by Uptown was the absolute best planning decision we made. The venue was beautiful, the staff was accommodating, the food was delicious, and every single one of our guests left the wedding talking about how wonderful everything was. We could not be happier with the choice.
We scheduled a tour of Anchor Inn and Celebrations at the Bay, and Anne was the staff person assigned to us. She was so helpful and answered every question I had. She spoke to me like a friend rather than a sales person which I really appreciated. The company is very helpful and responded quickly to every message. Great value and great price!
We got married at The Bayfront Club a few weeks ago. The months and weeks leading up to our wedding were difficult at best in dealing with our planner(provided by Catering by Uptown) and our sales person. Things started wonderfully an we were shown two different properties owned by Catering By Uptown and requested to have a menu tasting before booking to ensure that the quality of the food would be sufficient. This all went very smoothly, the food was delicious and we felt very confident in booking with Catering By Uptown. This is where things began to go down hill. Our contract was signed and deposit paid on June 4th. We were told that our planner would be in contact with us over the next few weeks. Well our planner did not reach out to us until November 13th. At this point we were 4 months out from our wedding. A planning appointment was then scheduled for mid January 2 months out from our wedding. Before our planning session we wanted to change our ceremony time by 30 minutes to account for sunset. This request was emailed to our planner on November 28th, I reached out every 3-5 days for an update and we did not recieve confirmation of the change until December 20th. Mind you in that time we were holding up booking other vendors because we weren't sure if our time change would be approved or now. In our one planning appointment we had to decide all food, linens, china, floor plan, centerpieces, and ceremony location. This was extremely overwhelming as we had less than 2 hours to accomplish all of this. At this planning appointment we were told of "office hours" that we could go back to the venue and look at things again. We decided that this would be a great idea to refresh our memory. Well thankfully we did because the beautiful stone bar that was part of the reason that we booked this venue was removed with out any notice to us, the bridal suite now had a long hallway that if I wanted to walk outside for my walk down the aisle I would have had to walk through the kitchen and the pier/bulkhead was also being replaced so there was no guarantee that we would be able to utilize that for our pictures. These were HUGE issues and we were never notified of them. We asked about why we weren't notified and we were told that our planner should have communicated that to us. We came back a few weeks later for the next "office hours" and there were more changes, now the pier/bulkhead was really under deep construction and the bridal suite had been changed again, once we weren't notified of any of this. 6 days before our wedding we were contacted by our day of coordinator, Brittany, who was ABSOLUTELY AMAZING!!! Without Brittany I don't know what we would have done, she helped to fix all of the problems caused by our Planner, ensured that everything was correct and flowed smoothly during our wedding. Our guests commented on how she really orchestrated things and also how amazing the views, the food, and the cake were. Brittany and the views were the only saving graces to Catering By Uptown.
We worked with Anne for the initial sale and then worked with Tracy to execute the party. Both were outstanding. They were incredibly responsive, cheerful, knowledgeable, and accommodating. For wedding day stress, it was wonderful to have Tracy as the day-of coordinator/maitre’d. She knows her stuff! The food was plentiful, tasty, and beautifully plated. Not an easy feat with an off site kitchen!
**Edit: I was contacted by Rob from Catering by Uptown within 24 hours of posting my review. He was extremely apologetic and listened and took notes on my complaints and assured me that they would all be addressed ASAP. Changing my rating to 4 stars because I'm very impressed with their responsiveness and desire to make it right. And as I said in my original review- the wedding did end up being beautiful. **
We had our wedding at one of Catering by Uptown's properties, the Bayfront Club in Sparrows Point. The wedding itself was beautiful and everyone raved about the food...
That being said- the planning process with this company was an ungodly nightmare. We signed our contract with a sales person, made our meal, linen, cake, decor choices, etc. with a planner, then had to once again explain our vision to a separate Day-of-Coordinator less than one week before the wedding. The planner didn't know what the sales person promised us, and the coordinator didn't know what choices we had made with the planner. It would have been so much smoother if our day-of-coordinator was our POC for the entire process.
I can't even tell you how many times our planner contradicted herself and I had to send her screenshots of our earlier conversations or the planning website to get her to honor what was previously discussed.
When I asked for an image of their floor plan to assist me with arranging the table layout, I was sent an image that didn't quite match the venue as I had seen it in person. They had the head table set up with the very large permanent bar should have been and there was a tiny bar over in the corner. Turns out, they remodeled the venue and REMOVED THE ENTIRE BAR, completely changing the look of the venue. They replaced it with a tall folding table with a black cloth over it. What was worse was that they didn't notify any of their clients that had active contracts. In fact, I was told by one employee that they were specifically instructed by the owners NOT to mention it to anyone unless they were asked about it. My floor plan was due in a few days and they wouldn't make arrangements for me to see the venue earlier than their next "office hours" (they only open the venue for tours 1x/month)
When I went to meet with my Coordinator for the last time, 4 days before the wedding, we found out that another construction project had begun, the pier was closed and we may not be able to use it for pictures. On top of that, there was a large Bobcat tractor parked on the lawn and they didn't know when it would be moved. Our main reason for choosing this venue was for the beautiful waterfront views and now there was a possibility that we wouldn't be able to benefit from them!
In the end, they opened the pier and moved the equipment from the lawn, but the unnecessary stress that they placed on us every step of the planning process was ridiculous. The problems listed above are only a small portion of everything that went wrong.
BUT- the entire staff on the actual wedding day was amazing (especially Brittney), the venue was beautiful, the food was delicious and everybody had a great time. So as long as you can handle a nervous breakdown about once a week, I would recommend Catering by Uptown.
Working with everyone from Catering by Uptown was fantastic. From initially booking the venue, (The Bayfront Club, to the planning day, to the actual event was great. Catering by Uptown REALLY makes the process easy and as stress free as possible. Any questions I had were instantly answered by the planning staff. It was very comforting knowing they were only an email or phone call away. I loved that everything was included. The food was amazing! All of my guests and other vendors talked about how awesome the crab cakes were and how delicious the cake was. The wait staff and bartender were also great. Overall, I would highly recommend Catering by Uptown for weddings, or any event.
Was all inclusive venue, catering, cake, set up, tear down, my doc. I couldn't have asked for better.
Cindy and Aimee at uptown were so easy to work with. Cindy helped us plan, answering questions anytime she also had tons of great advice and ideas for us. Aimee our day of coordinator could not have been an sweeter, she made our day go off without a hitch, even with an impending storm. She really looked out for us and our guest!
On May 11, 2018, we had our Dream wedding, and it is all thanks to Catering By Uptown.
From the very beginning—we were impressed. After being engaged for almost 3 years, we finally decided it was time to start planning. In August of 2017, I scheduled a meeting with one of their Account Executives (I did it online… it was quick and painless!). The Account Exec we were assigned to was Anne Portell. When we got to the venue, I instantly felt a connection to Anne—as she simultaneously calmed my nerves and got me excited to (finally) get married! Anne truly was the greatest first impression for Catering By Uptown… she was as friendly and sweet as she was professional and informative. If you can request to meet with someone, I HIGHLY recommend Anne! We signed the contract that day and the planning began!!!
Once the contract was finalized, we received a packet in the mail with a ton of information… additional info about the venue, recommended vendors, and information about their planning website. The planning website is an AMAZING tool! Everything you need to think about when planning a wedding is in there… timelines, details, processional information, menu, cake, table #s... I could go on and on. It really helped keep everything organized!
The Event Specialist we were assigned to was Marissa Truffer. Marissa was an angel. Honestly, I couldn’t have done it without her. We met with Marissa for our “planning meeting”, which included the tasting (ALL DELCIOUS FOOD) and picking out table linens, candles, floor layout, etc. I left that meeting feeling like a weight had been lifted off my shoulders! I could tell Marissa understood my vision and instantly trusted her to carry out our big day. Like Anne, Marissa was professional, punctual, responsive, friendly, kind, and sweet! She made the process a breeze.
Marissa handled the logistics the day of and absolutely KILLED IT. IT WAS TRULY AMAZING… COULDN’T BE MORE IMPRESSED. The day went off without a hitch, the venue was STUNNING, all the décor I brought looked perfect the way they set it up, the timeline went perfectly, the food/cake/drinks were DELICIOUS, all the guests were happy… it was P-E-R-F-E-C-T. (If you are a “perfectionist” like me, ASK FOR MARISSA. Marissa makes it happen!)

Booking Catering by Uptown for our wedding was the best decision ever! Tracy our coordinator was there every step of the way. She answered all my calls, questions and emails in a timely fashion. The care and service we received was stupendous. The day of the wedding Tracy and the whole team made sure we didn’t move a finger. The exceptional service was amazing. All of our guest loved the service, detail and especially the food. I’d youee thinking of going with Uptown don’t hesitate or think twice. You’ll love them!
Catering by Uptown was awesome! We used their venue called the Knollview House at Celebrations at the Bay. The house was perfect for our intimate (~50 people) wedding and it was right on the Chesapeake Bay! The deck could have used some string lights, but that’s our only suggestion. We booked the venue is May/2017, over a year before our wedding, and in that time the interior was updated which was a pleasant surprise. We loved it. There’s plenty of greenery around the house, as well as the dock, for awesome photos. The company provided us with a day of coordinator, who helped things run smoothly. The planners at the company were also wonderful and very response (I had tons of questions). Also, the food was great (we also enjoyed the tasting/planning event), the cake and cupcakes were yummy, and the bartender was great! We got lucky and the venue next to ours (there are 3 venues on this property) was empty, so I can not speak to noice cross-over. But there is a nice fence and plenty of space separating the two venues. Lastly, it did rain on our wedding day, however, the “rainy day” plan B was awesome. The ceremony was held under the covered patio and the venue provided a beautiful arch. Plan A was to have the ceremony in front of the Bay and underneath a huge tree. We had a wonderful experience working with Catering by Uptown. We are so happy they had a venue on the Bay that was great for a smaller gathering.
I cannot say enough about Catering by Uptown. There are not enough stars. The food was Excellent. My guest cannot stop talking about the food, cake, presentation, service, etc. I'm upset, because as a Bride, I did not really enjoy my food like I wanted too, especially the appetizers. Everything was so elegant done, the wait staff were very professional, they made sure me and my husband were taken care of. The food was cooked to perfection, seasoned well, I cannot say enough good things about Uptown Catering.

Our daughter just got married this past Sunday 7/1/18. It was absolutely perfect in every way!!!!! We met our "day of coordinator" Brittany on Thursday and from that moment on we worried about absolutely NOTHING!!!!! There were several issues we hadn't thought about and much to be done, and yet none of it was done by us. Brittany was professional, efficient, always positive, and our questions were always answered with a YES we can get that done. I have never worked with anyone whom I felt more confident in and knew without a doubt everything would be exceptional.
She met us early on the day of the wedding and never stopped for a second. Having never hosted a wedding we were clueless and she seamlessly got us in the right places all evening and really just took charge and made the day simply outstanding. There is not one single thing I would have changed and all evening we got compliments about the food, the venue, the employees, and especially that woman (Brittany) who is amazing.
Catering by Uptown owned the venue and provided everything from soup to nuts. The Bayfront Club was a beautiful venue and well worth the price. We visited a number of different places and they were by far the best bang for the buck. Everyone we dealt with was good but Brittany was exceptional!
Not one single regret from either family and only wonderful things to say about the whole evening.

Everything was delicious and beautiful, but Uptown became an unnecessarily stressful part of our wedding in the few weeks before the big day.
The food was good. They have a really comprehensive package with delicious options, and I think the service was good at the event.
It was more expensive than some other options. We justified that because they provided day of coordination and some decor, which was cheaper overall by going with them. But... we had a difficult time working with them. They didn't assign us to any one person and we didn't have a day of coordinator's name until a couple weeks before. (Full disclosure: Our wedding was just a few days before 4th of July, so I understand that can be a staffing challenge.) Their online system had incorrect information (including start and end time) until a few weeks before our wedding and they only corrected that after we pushed them to fix it multiple times. Also, when we said we wanted a vegan gluten free option for dinner because we had so many guests who are picky eaters, no one indicated any issue with that. Turns out, no one we talked to actually knew what the vegetarian option was, which ultimately lead to us having multiple conversations with them about a week before our wedding negotiating the menu. Also, our day of coordinator left the wedding reception 30 minutes before it ended, which didn't create any problems, but was weird. We didn't know about that until after the wedding when she mentioned it via email.
I had an AMAZING experience with Uptown Catering and their venue, Celebrations at the Bay. My wedding day-of coordinator, Marissa was so responsive and helpful. When I dropped my items off the day before my wedding, she left with me no doubts that I picked the perfect location for our wedding. The location was beautiful, we lucked out with the absolute perfect day and everything ran smoothly and guests could not stop raving about what a great time they had and how awesome the food tasted. It's worth the money to pay an established company to handle your big day.
The food was excellent! Service was 5 star by far. It was effortless on my part. Anne Portell is exceptional and i recommend her. My on site team was absolutely wonderful. I didn't have to ask for anything or remind anything. They took very good care of the groom and I. I highly recommend!!!!
CbyU catered our wedding on October 6th at St. Francis Hall (not one of their venues). From the first phone call with Anne through to the wedding day, CbyU was nothing but professional, helpful, and stress-relieving. My husband and I first met with Anne for a tasting, which was a lot of fun, and she answered all of our questions and many we didn’t even know to ask. She had decorated the ‘example’ table beautifully and we went with that exact selection for the wedding day - one of the many decisions made very easy for us. She was also very accommodating with our budget concerns and was able to work with us to choose the best options.
As we moved along in the planning process, we met with Anne and Sandra for a second tasting and planning. Sandra is fabulous and had the plans down perfectly. As the kind of bride that got overwhelmed easily, Sandra walked me through their usual processes and made decision-making simple. Both Anne and Sandra also met us at the venue a month before the wedding for the final organizational meeting with the venue staff.
The day of the wedding was absolutely perfect. The set-up was gorgeous and the guests raved about the food. We served a double-entrée option and the filet and chicken were delicious. The appetizers were great, and plentiful, and the bar seemed to operate really well. Sandra consistently checked in with my husband and I with food/beverages, which was much appreciated. They also cut and served our cake (from a different vendor) without an extra fee, alongside their delicious desserts. I cannot say enough good things about Anne, Sandra, and the food provided by CbyU. I never had to wait long for a response to my many e-mails, and working with them at each meeting was a pleasure. Thank you, CbyU!
The staff of The Villa did such an excellent job catering to everyone's needs. The food was phenomenal. Our guests are still talking about it almost a month later.
From Sales with Deanna, to planning with Katelyn, to the wonderful execution of our plans by Vickie Mitchell, we had a fantastic experience with Catering by Uptown. Everyone was pleasant and professional. The Villa is a hidden gem and we couldn't have been happier with our decision to have our wedding and reception there. It was beautiful! I could not have imagined a better experience with a caterer. Catering by Uptown -- and Sandra, in particular -- took great care of us and helped make our day go off without a hitch. We planned an outdoor wedding, but it rained. We expected 50 guests, and had 70. Sandra and Uptown rolled with the punches and gave us the most spectacular day. We couldn't be more thankful for the day they gave us. We would recommend Uptown to anyone looking for a fabulous event with minimal effort.
They were awesome! Super professional, wait staff very attentive, site hostess was excellent. And on top of all of that, the food was absolutely delicious, from cocktail hour to dinner. I’m still getting rave reviews from it.

I had my wedding at The Villa in Beltsville, MD on 9/8/2017 and it was absolutely AMAZING!!!! I don't have one complaint about my wedding experience because all of my vendors were fantastic. My wedding coordinator Shonda Cherry and day of coordinator Kathy Andrews were great! They were very warm and welcoming, which put some of most of my anxiety at ease. They were willing to do what was necessary to make my vision come to life. Her and her team exceeded my expectations beyond measure. The venue was nice and clean, and the everything i wanted from decor to lighting was spot on. The food presentation was awesome and it also taste wonderful. Especially the beef wellingtons and crab cakes :). The service from the staff was very professional from beginning to end. would definitely recommend this venue to anyone!!
We were thrilled with the service from Catering by Uptown for our wedding at River Farm in Alexandria. From the first tasting to the planning meeting, everyone we met with was kind and helpful. On the day of our wedding it rained, a lot, and Uptown did a wonderful job seamlessly switching to our "Plan B". Sandra our day of coordinator was everywhere at once, putting our plan into action and constantly checking in to see if we needed anything. She did it all with a smile, and really emulated positivity on what started out as a stressful day due to the weather. The food was delicious, and HOT, and multiple guests made a point to tell us how great everything tasted. The cake was another success- it was not only tasty but looked beautiful and Uptown executed my request for a small aesthetic change to the frosting perfectly. We would highly recommend Uptown, and specifically Sandra and her contagious energy, to other couples looking for a caterer for their big day.

I had my wedding and reception at The Villa. Everything was exceptional. My event coordinator and day of coordinator Shonda was nothing short of miraculous. She executed my vision with ease. The reception decor was breathtaking. She kept my husband calm, which is not an easy task, and comfortable. She even stopped me from making some bad design decisions. I can't say enough about Shonda. Actually every staff member I had interaction with was great. My wedding was absolutely stunning. My guest are still raving about the food and my bartender.

So much more than a caterer. I was amazed at how much they offered us. From centerpieces, to the wedding cake, to setting up placecards, linens, everything was included it seemed.
We worked with a few different people. Anne helped us in the planning stages. During our tasting and when we chose our linens and plates, she was wonderful. Then we met with Kirk for a walk through the week of the wedding--he was also lovely. Put us all at ease around where everything was supposed to go and what we cared about etc. The day of we had the pleasure of working with Dorothy, who was such a wonderful listener. She and I had spoken earlier in the week and the day of she made sure everything went exactly as we'd wanted. My husband and I kept commenting on how every time one of us was empty handed within seconds someone from The waitstaff was handing us our preferred beverage--for me it was white sangria (that they gave us extra containers of to take home!)

We went to the venue in Halethorpe, Town & Country. We were so happy with everything. The food was delicious, everything was set up perfectly. We had salmon and chicken for dinner. The staff was attentive and friendly. Shonda, our wedding planner was absolutely wonderful. She always got back to my questions super fast before the wedding, and was incredibly friendly. I was incredibly happy with Shonda and the venue. During the wedding, she made sure to ask us our time when we wanted to do everything. She worked on our schedule. She got everything in order before and really was phenomenal. We would book another event at this venue in a heartbeat.
We were impressed with the fact that the price was all-inclusive (ie cake, table settings and centerpieces, etc.) no "hidden costs." Our day of coordinator, Elisabeth, did a great job of keeping the reception organized with the speeches, cake cutting, and such while maintaining the party atmosphere.
Catering By Uptown completely exceeded my expectation for my wedding as well as our guests. Having booked an outside venue, Victoria quickly and professionally gave us a quote that was well within our budget. Extremely grateful to have been referred to Shonda who from beginning to end made the process easy and stress free. I suspect many of these reviews are not real. My friend had a wedding at Celebrations. I met with a salesperson in hopes of finding a similar venue with catering package. I believe the experience is hit or miss depending on who you get when you call Catering by Uptown. My first impression was not good and that was enough to keep me looking.

Catering by Uptown did a fantastic job with my wedding! The food was great, the service was wonderful, and everything looked beautiful. They did a great job of working with my vendors, and everything turned out so well.
One of the things I was most impressed by was their set-up and clean-up. I brought multiple boxes of decor, with a list of how I would like it set up, and they did an amazing job setting it all up, and then cleaning it and putting it back into the boxes at the end. My family was so thankful that we didn't have to touch a thing at the end. They even helped carry all of the presents and decor to our cars!
One thing that I was really impressed with about Jamie, my day-of coordinator, was her willingness to go above and beyond for me. During the cocktail hour, my maids of honor were trying to bustle my dress, and they couldn't get it figured out (it was a really long train). Jamie came right over and started helping, without even being asked. She really worked hard to make sure that I had everything that I needed, and that everything was running smoothly. We also had a few guests who showed-up last minute, and she quickly figured out how to accommodate them. As far as I knew, everything went well and we barely had any issues on the day-of!
Throughout the whole planning process, I worked with Katelyn, who was extremely sweet and always responded to my questions promptly. She was so helpful, I don't know how I could have planned it all without her!

Catering by Uptown made one of the biggest days of our lives so special and memorable for us as well as our guests. We got married at the historic Waverly Mansion and would choose Catering by Uptown and this venue again in a heartbeat. Christina was so helpful leading up to the wedding helping us get organized and helping us get all of our questions answered. She was especially helpful the day of our wedding, until this day we do not know of any issues that occurred because she handled them and helped to keep us on schedule effortlessly and with a smile. She made sure we didn't starve by walking us out some appetizers while we took pictures during our cocktail hour. She also made sure our shuttle bus driver didn't leave the bride and groom behind at the end of the night (disclaimer: the shuttle company we used was not referred to us by Catering by Uptown).Everything was beautiful. Such a great experience and I can definitely say we owe that mostly to Christina.
Catering by Uptown is hands down the best vendor I've come across while planning our wedding. Booking was a breeze, and my favorite part about it is how much was included. It takes away so much of the stress and planning. It reminds me of an all inclusive resort where every thing is included in the cost, which I LOVE because it's easy to get tangled up in planning and blow your budget or forget how much you are spending. Catering by Uptown makes it a breeze and I can't wait for our big day at Waverly Mansion in March. I know it is going to be the best day ever.

My husband and I had a destination wedding in August (Anguilla, BWI). We knew that most of our family and friends would not be able to attend, so we decided to have a bigger celebration shortly after returning from Anguilla.
Initially, I contacted Anne P, who at the last time we spoke, she was at another catering company. I learned that she had moved on, but luckily, I was able to reach her. I didn't want just anyone, I wanted her. During our event, she went above and beyond to make sure that everything was excellent for our event.
The staff at Catering by Uptown was amazing. They were professional and provided superior customer service to me, my husband and our guests. I appreciated having Anne P at the site to support my event. Everyone loved the food, the drinks (bartenders were also amazing) and a great time was had by all.

Just had to share my dream wedding reception and amazing experience all thanks to the knowledgeable and caring staff of Catering by Uptown. We had our reception at the waterfront Anchor Inn.
From the planning process to the actual day of event everything was perfect.
Anne was my day of coordinator and she was truly like a fairy God mother. She made sure every aspect of our reception was perfect! She literally catered to my every need. The food was absolutely delicious. The wait staff was professional and attentative. Every guest commented at how professional and courteous they were. Our bartender was sweet, cheerful and fun! It was truly the perfect package.
I was pretty upset the week leading up to the wedding as the weather forecast called for rain all day and night the day of my wedding. I was so upset as I had dreamt about having beautiful photos on the pier. Anne assured me even if we did get bad weather we would still be able to get beautiful pictures as one deck is covered and she helped me see my day would still be perfect. We dropped off all of our supplies and Anne took care of making sure my mini pumpkin place settings were taken care of and looked fantastic (she went that extra mile and I am beyond touched). Luckily the day of. It rained while we were at the church but stopped as soon as we got to the venue. When we arrived at the Anchor Inn, Anne was waiting there for me with a glass of wine and a hug, she told me I looked beautiful and reassured me that this night was going to be perfect. She made sure every guest was catered to as if they were royalty.
I don't have a single bad thing to say about Catering by Uptown or my venue, The Anchor Inn. It was truly a perfect day. day. I have and will continue to recommend Catering by Uptown and The Anchor Inn to any bride who is looking for their perfect venue with an all inclusive venue.
