I want to start by saying the positive things about Catering DSM by St Kilda.
First of all, that both their chef and my point person, Katie, were really lovely to work with. I was a bride from out of town and I didn't know what caterer to work with for my wedding. Catering DSM by St Kilda was a recommendation from our venue, and the staff was really lovely. I had a few dietary restrictions with both my guests and myself, and they went above and beyond to accommodate everything. In terms of the actual taste of the food, it was delicious. The flavors are amazing and even with some modifications, like certain dairy-free sauces, it tasted above and beyond what I expected.
Some notes and the reasons I can't give them 5 stars are the following. First, with the distance to our venue (about 45 minutes), they had to use hot plates to keep the food warm until our dinner service at 630pm. Our venue did not have a full kitchen, however they did have an oven onsite and other warming things in their prep kitchen for the caterer to utilize. Unfortunately, this didn't keep our meals warm. My mother complained her food was cold, and mine and my husband's plates were so cold that the sauce on one of our items was hardened. Although it tasted good, I was really surprised and disappointed how cold they ended up being. When I first spoke with Katie, we were told we would have 6 servers, and we ended up only being provided with 4, which slowed our service down. I was told by our venue that the service was a bit slow, although I didn't know this until after the wedding. Additionally, my guests were required to remember what they had ordered, which made the servers and guests a bit confused and could had led to the slow down of the service, I think. I offered to send Katie the seating chart with what everyone ordered weeks by seat assignment before, but she said she didn't need that, but I think it ultimately would have been helpful.
I was a little disappointed in how cold the food was and how slow the service was, which are the only two reasons I didn't give this caterer 5 stars. Personally, Katie and the chef were pleasures to deal with and I enjoyed working with them. Katie was kind enough to actually save me some of the cocktail hour appetizers, because she knew the brides never get a chance to eat, which was so sweet. I just think a couple of things could have been tweaked in order to make this a completely perfect experience.
St. Kildas was such a pleasure to work with. They provided all our food and drink for our wedding at Salisbury house in June. Our food was lovely, and we got so many compliments. Additionally, Katie, the event coordinator, went above and beyond to make sure everything was running smoothly the day of. We couldn’t be happier with our choice to go with St. Kildas as our wedding caterer.
Catering DSM did a fabulous job catering our wedding at the Temple for Performing Arts! Sarah is extremely professional, easy to communicate with, and has been such an amazing vendor to work with while planning a wedding during a pandemic. She really made this whole experience so much easier and was extremely flexible with our constantly changing plans. What made us appreciate Catering DSM so much more was how considerate they were of us having to transition from a 200+ people wedding to less than 30, waiving any previously established food and drink minimums. We are well aware that there are plenty of venues out there who have not been so flexible, so we are truly grateful for this.
The food was amazing, and we loved how customizable everything was. What we really appreciated was how Sarah really listened to what we liked and made adjustments to the menu to fit our personal taste, from adding truffle oil to the mac and cheese croquettes to adding lobster tail to our entrée with less than a week’s notice. We also had a Hot Toddy Bar which was super fun and unique as well! The entire process was so easy, and we felt extremely taken care-of along the way. Thank you Catering DSM for a delicious evening!
I cannot say enough about the Catering DSM team, specifically Sarah. She was absolutely amazing to work with and thought of every little detail for us. We originally had our 300 person ceremony and reception planned for the Temple, but two months before our date made the decision to reduce it to 15 people (due to COVID) and postpone our reception a year. We ended up keeping our date and moving our 15 person evening to the smaller venue space at St. Kilda Collective... and it was absolutely PERFECT. The food was outstanding! The space was beautiful! We had both our ceremony and reception there and honestly can't imagine it being any different.
The flexibility of Sarah & team to change everything two months before our big day was so appreciated by my now-husband and I. It made the already stressful situation of attempting to plan a wedding during a pandemic much less stressful. I cannot thank them enough for a perfect, perfect evening. I would not change a single thing!
Couples- look no further than Catering DSM for all of your wedding needs, you will not be disappointed!
We worked with Alex and Catering DSM for our wedding catering. Alex was a real pro and responsive to every little question and request we had. He made the process so easy and fun. We never had to worry about anything on the day of the wedding, he had it all taken care of perfectly!
This venue is breathtaking, the pillars and ceiling in the reception area have so much character and charm you technically don’t even need decorations (although we still used various table decor). We worked with Alex and he made the entire process from initial consultation to the night of our wedding reception stress-free. Their whole staff was very accommodating and professional. The food was delicious and the catering staff and bartenders were magnificent. We loved the downtown location and really appreciated the parking lot right across the street. We would recommend any couple looking at venues to check out the Temple!
Sarah and everyone at the Temple were absolutely amazing to work with and helped make the day exactly what I was wanting. I was so appreciative of how willing they were to accommodate our requests, adjust last minute details and helped consult throughout the entire planning process. I have heard from so many quests how delicious the food was and how much they enjoyed the venue. Food was one of the most important things to my husband and I, and the catering at the Temple was amazing! Everything was prepared beautifully and tasted great, from our cocktail hour o'dourves, to the entrees and our late night pretzel bar. Another amazing thing about the catering at the Temple is they were able to accommodate all of our guests dietary restrictions, which I loved so that every single one of our guests were able to enjoy the food. Thank you so much for going above and beyond to make my day stress free, and one I can look back on with no regrets!
We worked with Alex Jimenez in planning our wedding reception at the Temple for Performing Arts. Alex and his team were a dream to work with. Alex responded to all of our questions in a timely manner, he worked with our designer (Taylor Boesen with White Willow Events) to make sure the room was perfect and he went above and beyond to make our wedding reception was the best ever. From beginning to end Alex was extremely professional but also very fun to work with. I would highly recommend working with Alex and the Temple for any of your event needs!
I cannot say enough positive things about our experience at the Temple for our wedding! We had been planning our wedding for well over a year, and Alex was the best person we could ask for as a coordinator. He was immensely helpful with everything from making recommendations about other local vendors to picking out our menus to planning out every single detail of our wedding day. Our guests raved about the venue and the food. All of the serving staff was professional and prompt. We could not have imagined a better wedding day!
Beautiful venue that can accommodate a large wedding and has great catering. The best part was our coordinator, Alex who was extremely helpful in helping us plan sequence of events, how much food and alcohol, and overall giving us piece of mind. He was always quick to respond to my emails and gave helpful advice. If I was planning another event, I would want Alex to be there because he detail oriented, professional, and personable. Thanks to Alex, our wedding went without a hitch!
The venue is beautiful and well taken care of. They do not allow you to choose your own catering but what they provide is absolutely delicious. Our food was incredible- we had steak and chicken and got many compliments! The event manager is in charge of absolutely everything so there is a lot of room for error.(for example- my $500 grooms cake did not get displayed so hardly anyone saw it and no one ate any of it). Ours was very pleasant, knowledgeable and had great suggestions but the follow through could be better. The communication before the wedding was not great as I would have to reach out 2 or 3 times before getting a response, which was usually just telling me that she would get me an answer in the next couple of days. I think the planners just have too much on their plate so, it is not necessarily their fault. We also had some not to pleasant interactions with some of the bartenders not knowing what our specialty drink was and being very rude to the groom but there were also some staff that really went above and beyond to make our day as relaxed as possible. Overall, it is a good venue but you will want to make sure that you are following up on everything multiple times.
Yep - Magical. A cliche descriptor for a wedding and reception, but I have no other to describe it. The venue was perfect. From Marble columns, to the stain glass windows, the high ceilings, and amazing sound - it truly was the perfect place for our Wedding & Reception. Many of the guests complimented us on the site even though we certainly are not the Masons who constructed it nor the ones who set it up. The Venue Coordinator Mallory assisted us with floor plan, layout, and set up. She was great to work with - she was quick in responses, receptive, helpful, and set up everything in a clear manner without issue. She personally made the Temple a great wedding venue on top of it's already amazing architecture.
We had the wedding in the Recital Hall and reception in the Grand Hall. The venue is gorgeous.
The management of this venue needs some work. If it wasn't for outstanding service and beauty, this venue wouldn't have been worth dealing with the people in charge.
We loved this venue! It has been recently renovated and is absolutely beautiful!
We were looking for a venue that had a separate space for cocktail hour and dinner, was large enough for our guest list but still felt intimate, and didn't have to have much additional decorating done. The temple fit the bill perfectly!
We had our cocktail hour in the rehearsal hall and our dinner and dance in the grand hall. It's a large space, but it's large because the ceilings are so tall. The room itself actually fells quite intimate, and we didn't feel like anyone "got lost" throughout the evening. We did bring in some table decorations, but the Grand Hall is so beautiful that nothing else was needed.
And the staff was so great! Mallory and Jeff are on it! They thought of and took care of absolutely everything and made sure that our day was perfect!
The upgrades have greatly improved this location and created the vintage/romantic setting h
The staff was fabulous and everything went off perfectly!!!! and the food was amazing!
