The food was great but the staff was rude to our guests on multiple occasions. Overall just poor attitude by the staff.
After signing a contract over a year ago with Catering The Wrong Way, they decided to raise their prices recently. Although, I could understand that all prices were going up for food what I couldn’t swallow was not only did the food prices go up between 33 to 67%, depending on the item, the bar tender fee went up $20.00 per hour and they increased their gratuity percentage. When I called the owner to tell her my disappointment with the increase in bar tender per hour fee and gratuity %, I was given the excuse that her insurance went up, of which I knew she could allocate across every event. I was also told that I was free to find someone else to cater. Seriously?!?
Fruit went from $3.00 per person to $5.00 per person....then add
6% tax and then add 20% gratuity. I purchased enough strawberries, grapes, watermelon, cantaloupe and honeydew for the 120 guests and paid ~$125.00 compared to the $756.00 I would have paid them. Talk about price gouging!
The bar tenders had the audacity to put a tip jar out.…even though I already paid the 20% gratuity. There were no stipulations on the bar service prior to the event. As the bar tender was setting up, I went over to see if there was anything I could do to help them. I was given a crappy attitude because they were only prepared to serve beer and wine. The bar tender told me this was her first time bar tending and wasn’t told she’d have to make mixed drinks.
The salad was served in a dessert bowl and if you were not seated at the time they placed the salads at the table, you did not get one.
Unfortunately, given the last two years of cancelled weddings, people are now “catching up” and availability of another caterer was not an option.
The impact was not hundreds of dollars, it was thousands of dollars. Money was one thing but bad attitudes/service all around put me over the edge.
I’ve never had a wedding before today, nor have I dealt with anything that required catering. However, Lisa and her team BLEW ME AWAY with how amazing they were from start to finish. When we signed our contract exactly a year before our wedding, I knew I wouldn’t have to worry at all about food, drinks, service, everything. Lisa and all of her staff went above and beyond to make sure myself and my husband were taken care of the second they were onsite. I still can’t believe the hospitality and care they were showing us, I’m still blown away.
Now let’s talk the good stuff. The food. Every single person, and this isn’t an exaggeration, every person I talked to about the food could NOT stop talking about that smoked brisket. I heard smoked brisket more on my wedding day than I have in my life. There were compliments on compliments of the look, the taste, all of it for every single bite of food you catered for us. There wasn’t a single person that left hungry, and it was so great even for dinner multiple days after. (Being closer to a vegetarian than a carnivore, I STRONGLY recommend the stuffed shells. I still have dreams about them)
Lisa, you did SO AMAZING. With the way you run your business, you are going to be a staple in the wedding catering world. I have nothing but good things to say about you, your staff, and your food. I will recommend you and your business to everyone who even breaths a word of wedding to me!
Thank you thank you thank you! You suffered 95 degree heat, served our guests, and still gave us such a nice gift bag. You are great, and I’m going to try my hardest to have another event for you to cater!
Lisa was amazing throughout our entire wedding planning process. She was so helpful with making adjustments to the menu, working within our budget and being so responsive. Lisa was patient with me and my questions and always had a solution when I felt stuck on something. She made sure to find out the style of my wedding so that her dishes would match the aesthetic we had going. She took the initiative to go out to the venue prior to the wedding since she has never been there before and made sure that everything was mapped out. Lisa and her staff on my wedding day were incredible!! Everyone loved the food, especially the pot roast!! The bartenders were so fun and were keeping the party going! Lisa went above & beyond and helped make my wedding day perfect. I highly recommend her and her team!!!
I live four hours away from where our wedding venue was so I did majority of my correspondence through emails and Lisa was super accommodating! They traveled almost two hours to our venue and were perfectly on time. Not a single guest at my wedding had a bad word to say about the food, everyone said it was AMAZING!! All of the girls were super nice and they left nothing behind when they cleaned up (other than our leftovers, of course!). The only reason I gave them 4/5 was because I was under-quoted and wound up owing $150 extra the day of, which thankfully we had left in our budget. Other than that though, was wonderful!
l our appointment because she had booked a wedding on our date. You can imagine my frustration as I had taken off of work for this and planned to make the 2 hour drive for this meeting. After apologizing, Lisa then further explains that she cannot hold dates without a contract and deposit. First of all, this was never brought to my attention - I had no idea, and second, who signs a contract and sends a deposit for a cater they never meet for food they never tried?! I was completely taken off guard by such unprofessionalism. I can't imagine having to deal with such poor behavior on my wedding day. Beware!!!
