What Catherine does well is understand the good vendors out there, and provides recommendations for those photographers, caterers, etc. She also has good taste and would probably make a lovely interior decorator. Where she failed miserably was execution. She suggested invites done by hand, which sounded lovely, but since they were not digital, all of the revisions became very confusing and cumbersome, and as a result our event invites were sent out with no start time. So embarrassing. As it was approaching the event she was ill with a cold and was not focused on getting key tasks done. The room was supposed to be set up the night prior and it was not. The morning of she was scrambling, and it was totally stressing me out. She did not follow the directions given to her by the synagogue and was putting in a bar for cocktails before the ceremony, and the rabbi started yelling at her because he was very upset. She then ran off and I needed to work with the staff on where to hide the bar. For most of the rest of the event (4+ hours) we could not find her anywhere, and concluded that she was hiding out of embarrassment. She also missed key details. There was no silverware by the appetizers, and so one could eat the food. I personally asked the guests to move from the social hour into the main dining hall because Catherine was not there. I spoke with the DJ to let them know that we were ready for the introduction and the dance where the Bat Mitzvah girl is raised in the chair. And finally, because Catherine was no where to be found, the caterer did not communicate to her or us that there were leftovers packaged up from the event, and the food ended up being thrown away. In summary she cannot be trusted to get the job done — her focus is with the nice extras instead of the essential aspects of event execution.
My husband and I had a barn/tent wedding on my in-law's property. Because it was not at your typical venue, I wanted to hire an Event Coordinator to help run the show on the Big Day and make sure we ate and drank. Catherine was very attentive leading up to the big day, but TOTALLY DROPPED THE BALL on my wedding day. I was very clear on 3 specific things for my wedding day: 1) to have 2 large floral arrangements moved from the barn after our ceremony to the tent for the reception, 2) to make sure the groom and myself always had a drink and 3) to make sure we ate. NONE of these things happened. There were moments of 30 minutes to an hour where she was no where to be found and people had to go looking for her (turns out she was sitting inside the barn in the AC). The flower arrangements remained in the barn the entire wedding (such a waste of gorgeous arrangements), our friends and family were getting drinks for us, and OUR CATERER who was busy preparing food for 200+ people and managing his staff of 12+ people came up to us when dinner was half way over and asked us if we had eaten, which we hadn't. (We did not get ANY of our cocktail hour food either.) It pains me to write this because I had such a good vibe and was so positive that Catherine had this in the bag. My mother and mother-in-law were floored at her lack of attentiveness on the day of, and as a result, my husband and I did not get to experience the day as we had hoped. I would not recommend.
I had heard about Catherine through a co-worker. I wanted to hire something as a second pair of eyes on everything on my wedding day. I heard something unfortunate about one of my vendors which I had already deposited and I got worried about "what if that happened on my wedding day?" While I hired Catherine based on that alone, she did way beyond what I was expecting to use her for. She is all into the details of the wedding. In fact, I wished I would have used her services more and right in the beginning of my planning process. I am very into emailing and her response time was awesome. Sometimes she would even text me for more important situations. I also needed someone to create an itinerary for the wedding day, which is included in her services, along with helping with budgets. If I needed something like 'who is the best person to use for decorations?' she would send me the contact information. Plus the vendors that her clients are important and will not disappoint in their services. She also put me in touch with a calligrapher for writing invitation envelopes and they were just beautiful. Catherine will help with whatever you ask her. She made me relax on my wedding day. Knowing that a professional was there looking over everything at my venue truly helped. She is the consummate professional. She knows her stuff, has access to loads of amazing resources and original ideas, and the day-of, she was a miracle! Highly recommended!
