More than having a beautiful store with modern, gorgeous dresses, Ceremony was the only bridal store I visited where I felt my consultant was incredibly knowledgeable, objective, kind, and not pushy at all. I wish I had another reason to go to Ceremony because it was truly a delight!
I had a wonderful experience shopping at Ceremony. The store is beautiful and peaceful, and Alix is thoughtful with her recommendations. Great selection of designers. I also found it so helpful to be able to search and select dresses in advance via their online portal - unique among other stores I visited! Alix was extremely responsive following my appointment and helpful with my decision. Would definitely recommend visiting Ceremony to find your wedding dress!
I had an absolutely wonderful experience at Ceremony. The pre-appointment survey helped me organize my thoughts about what I wanted and gave me a sense of what was offered. The team has curated a stunning collection of dresses that range from contemporary to extravagant and everything in between. Alix was incredibly thoughtful throughout my appointment, listened carefully to what I wanted, and helped me think through how I wanted to show up on my wedding day. Her approach was structured and transparent and I truly felt like I had explored everything in the collection by the time I left (unlike appointments at other stores when I often felt like the consultant was pulling random dresses for me). This is a truly special store and team!
I had a wonderful experience trying on dresses at Ceremony - I went back in Summer 2022 before they moved to their new location. I’m based in NYC and headed to Ceremony since no salons in my immediate area carried Anais Anette. They also carried a lot of the other designers I was looking at including Newhite and Aleena Lena. There was only one other appointment that started halfway through mine so it was a very personalized appointment. My bridal stylist was Natasha and she did a great job pulling all the dresses I had selected in advance as well as pulling some out of the box options at the end. She was extremely kind to me and my maid of honor and was very patient with helping me explain what I liked or did not like on a dress. I tried on many more dresses than I expected and tried on my final contenders with/without veils at the end. Natasha made me feel very comfortable and didn’t try to force any immediate decisions out of me. Once I tried on my other top option back at Lovely Bride in NYC for peace of mind, I decided on the Anais Anette one from Ceremony. I then went back with my Mom to get measurements taken and have the dress mailed to me. They even gave me a seamstress recommendation for NYC. I highly recommend Ceremony!
I bought my dress here at Ceremony. I had an amazing experience, the stylist, Lydia, really listened to what I was looking for, and was super helpful. The studio itself is just beautiful.
Would not recommend. This place looks incredible on instagram, but frankly the selection is pretty limited in terms of silouttes. Stylist was also rude to my guests and made me uncomfortable on a day that was supposed to be special to me.
I had the most amazing experience with Ceremony. The store is absolutely beautiful and clean, and they take really good care of their dresses. Lydia helped us out and did a fantastic job to create a customized experience. It was very clear that she is great at her job and made suggestions for styles that I initially didn't think I would like but ended up loving. The owner also popped in briefly to say hello and was very kind and welcoming. I ended up buying my dress from a different boutique only because they had the exact style that I had been looking for, but by far had the best experience at Ceremony of the 5 Boston bridal shops that I visited. Highly recommend!
Incredibly happy with the Alexandra Grecco dress I purchased from Ceremony. Boutique experience with gorgeous dresses from the best designers. Would definitely recommend.
Ceremony is the ideal space to pick out your wedding dress. In an intimate setting where the staff is so helpful and makes this special moment shine. Their recommendations of tailors cannot be beat and selection of gowns are incredible. I had the pleasure of working with them and they even ordered in the exact size of my dress to try on before I purchased.
Alix and her entire team are amazing! I decided to head to Ceremony during my dress search because of the designers they carried. During my appointment, Alix was extremely helpful and knowledgeable about all of her designers and was very thoughtful with the dresses she pulled for me to try based on my feedback. I ended up falling in love with a dress from Ceremony, and the entire process was seamless. Fast forward to my dress arriving, it came in with plenty of time to bring to the tailor. When I brought my dress to the tailor, there was an incident where my dress got stained. While the tailor would not take ownership of the mishap, I got in contact with Ceremony, and Alix completely took over and saved the day. She sent the dress to be cleaned to her wedding dress cleaner, and when it came time for me to pay for the service, she covered it. Alix went above and beyond for me during a very stressful experience. I cannot say enough amazing things about Alix and her team as they helped me throughout this. Alix had no obligation to help during all of this, but she stepped in and saved the day, which really shows how much she cares about her brides. I would recommend anyone go to Ceremony, not only for the designers she carries (because they are all amazing!) but for the customer service you will experience.
I shopped for and purchased my dress at Ceremony during the height of COVID. While I understandably had to limit my guests, they went out of their way to make me feel safe, welcomed, and cared for. They had my dream dress available, which I tried on among a few other selections skillfully pulled for me. They were polite and supportive every step of the way. The space was also beautiful, as I'm sure their new space will be as well. Thank you for everything, Ceremony!
My experience with Ceremony was everything I could have ever hoped for in finding my wedding dress. They were so kind to me and my mom and the dresses were stunning! I will forever cherish the dress I found and owe a big thank you to the whole Ceremony team for assisting me throughout the process.
If you are looking for a place where dreams come true, Ceremony is the place for you. Shopping for a wedding dress can be such a stressful ordeal but it was anything but with Ceremony. I felt not only like a special bride to be but that the incredible owner and staff genuinely cared about what I was looking for and felt comfortable in. I could not have been more thrilled with the variety of styles they had for me to try and also so comforted that I would be able to find my perfect wedding dress...and oh my goodness did I!
A truly special experience finding my wedding dress at this beautiful boutique. The girls were all so helpful and professional and helped make the impossible decision possible!
I could not have been happier with my experience at Ceremony Boston! It was completely calm and special. My mom and I love the design and boutique feel of the shop. There was a lot of space for changing and trying on dresses, yet it felt intimate and private. This was completely different than my experiences at other places.
I was not overwhelmed by too many choices and didn’t feel stressed about not being able to find the dress. I visited Ceremony because they carry a specific designer that I love. I ended up leaving with a dress that describes my style perfectly that was suggested by Alix. I was impressed that she recognized what I was looking forward before I knew! We ended up purchasing another gown for a second ceremony abroad. Our wedding plan was interrupted by the pandemic, but I was able to get the dresses on time. The tailor they recommended also did an amazing job at my fittings! I have already recommended Ceremony to all of my friends who are getting married!
Awful. Atrocious. Unpleasant. Those are just a few words of many in the English language that scratch the surface in describing our experience at Ceremony. My fiancée visited Ceremony, found a dress she liked, got measured and ordered the dress to be delivered to Los Angeles (where we live) all in 1 visit. A major thing crossed off the laundry list of wedding prep, right? Wrong. A few months later, as promised, the dress shows up to our address. My fiancée tries on the dress and it doesn't fit. At all. The thing is so tight that she can't even properly walk in it. It seemed pretty obvious that the incorrect size was sent, so she calls Ceremony to get some help and is told that the correct size based on her measurements was sent and that the seamstress should be able to get everything adjusted, no problem. So a few days later, she takes the dress to the seamstress in LA recommended by Ceremony, who promptly tells her that there is no way that this dress is the right size- they either incorrectly measured her or they sent the wrong dress. This is where the true nightmare begins. At this point my fiancée calls again to get this resolved and the owner of Ceremony, Alix, gets involved. Normally, you would expect to receive an excellent level of customer service and problem solving from the owner of a company selling dresses worth thousands of dollars, but we received the complete opposite from Alix. Alix lacked any level of empathy, kindness and solutioning skills to get this issue remedied and instead took 0 responsibility for the issue. She claimed that there was no chance that anyone measured my fiancée incorrectly or that the wrong size was sent. Instead, she decided to solely put the blame on my fiancée, going so far as to make ludicrous statements, like saying that my fiancée had gained so much weight that she went up 2 sizes in a few short weeks (note, we spoke to a couple of doctors , who said this was close to impossible in the time between ordering and receiving the dress, not to mention she weighed herself and hadn't gained any weight) and that LA brides are notorious for getting sizes that are too small (my fiancée is from Boston and purchased the size suggested by Ceremony). Not only were these "defenses" bizarre in nature, they also served to essentially weight shame and put down my fiancée, which was completely uncalled for. It's understandable that people make mistakes in measuring or ordering and we would have been more than happy to work with Alix to get this resolved had she taken responsibility for it, but instead she decided to dig in and refuse to acknowledge any fault. After a stressful couple of weeks of exchanging tense emails and phone calls, Alix agreed to take the dress back for the full cost (note, she refused to refund over $200 in shipping). Of course, this had now left my fiancée with no dress and on a very tight timeline to get any dress now purchased tailored and adjusted, but this was a better option than to keep trying to deal with Ceremony and Alix. We thought that pushing our wedding in the midst of a global pandemic would've been the most stressful thing about wedding planning, but dealing with Ceremony takes the award. The amount of stress, tears and time wasted due to the utter lack of empathy and customer service at Ceremony was one of the most frustrating retail experiences we will probably ever have in our lives and I would strongly recommend you run as far away from this place as you can.
I loved my experience with Alix and Molly at Ceremony and would recommend this boutique to anyone looking for wedding dresses that are effortlessly chic.
I reached out via email to schedule an appointment in June 2021 and received a prompt response with a questionnaire to probe what I was looking for. At my appointment, Alix pulled ~6 dresses to try on. I was able to bring 2 friends; they also had a stand for my iPad so I could Zoom in my mom, future mother-in-law, sister, and friend. Alix was supportive and helpful without being overly solicitous. She gave my 2 friends space to take immense amounts of pics and vids to share with the group chat. From there, I re-tried on my fave dress and only then did Alix bring out the veil. She suggested only trying on the veil with dresses that might be “the one” to elevate the specialness of the experience. I said yes to Sarah Seven’s Viviana and decided to think over the accompanying sleeves. They gave me a goodie bag, which included champagne, and said we’d see each other in ~6 months. In November 2021, I reached out to Ceremony again if it was possible to do a re-try-on of just Viviana since my mom and sister were in town for Thanksgiving and they hadn’t been able to join my initial appointment in-person. Molly was more than happy to arrange our appointment and I was grateful that the team was able to include my family in the experience. Then, come January 2022, my dress arrived, but alas, I had torn my ACL so was in a brace, making going up the stairs difficult. Also, at this point, I had decided that yes, I needed the accompanying sleeves (“party sleeves”) so I needed to be measured for them. Alix was super kind and came down to me to hand over the dress (!!!) and measure for the sleeves. Now, in March 2022, my sleeves arrived and I was back in a brace, and Alix again was too kind to bring the sleeves to me in my car.
I share this saga to persuade other brides looking for a modern and romantic dress and an accommodating and stress-free experience to visit Ceremony in its beautiful space in Beacon Hill. And do yourself a favor and go to Tatte afterwards to celebrate.
If you're thinking about buying your dress from Ceremony, KEEP SHOPPING!! I had had my eye on the Anais Anette dress since before we pushed our wedding due to COVID, so it was thrilling to finally purchase my dream dress at Ceremony during Summer 2021. The salesperson I worked with, Molly, recommended I purchase a split size dress, saying "you'll either pay now or in alterations later." She also assured me that it would be no issue that I was based in Los Angeles, where they could easily ship the dress. When the dress arrived in January, there was something seriously wrong. The dress was so tight that it was a challenge to walk normally, sit down and bend over to put my shoes on. Not only was it WAY tighter than it should have been, the dress that I had purchased because it was so comfortable became the complete opposite. There is no way I could wear this dress without worrying that it was going bust at the seams. From my first conversation with Alix, she was passive-aggressive and defensive. For 6 weeks, she refused to take any responsibility for the dress being an incorrect size saying that "it was impossible that my team or the dressmaker made a mistake." During each conversation, she made me feel like I was ludicrous to even suggest this. Despite the fact that I had not gained any weight, she insisted that the reason the dress did not fit was that I had gained two inches and gone up two sizes. I don't know who's error this was, but contrary to what Alix incessantly suggested, it was not mine. She was painful to work with - she refused to come up with a solution except that the dress needed to be let out (an $850 alternation) until I said that I would be traveling back to Boston to meet her in person to try and sort this out. She then recommended that I pay to have a new skirt rushed and have the dress rebuilt by the seamstress in Los Angeles. The seamstress flatly refused to do this since she couldn't ensure the integrity of the dress. Alix actually even had the audacity to email my mom that "Truthfully (and mother-to-mother), if her body has changed, I am not sure how much putting her back into the sample to show her a change will be beneficial to her personally either." She was infuriating to work with and frankly I felt fat shamed by her for weeks. I have been very grateful to have a positive body image and this experience made me more critical of my body than ever before. She is toxic and caused hours of unnecessary emotional distress for me, my parents, MOH and fiance who worked tirelessly to troubleshoot the issue. I will say the only good thing to come out of this experience was that she recommended a fantastic seamstress in LA who actually encouraged me to return the dress and find a new one off the rack. Icing on the cake was Alix refused to reimburse me for the $200 in shipping. The bridal gown business expectation is that you go for the whole experience to spend thousands of dollars for a custom dress that takes months to make. You put your trust in the stylist and designers to create the correct dress, with minor alterations of course. However, every step of the way, Alix turned the whole thing on me like it was my fault. Take your business elsewhere because you WILL NOT receive the service you deserve at Ceremony.
Daughter went to pickup dress. Salesperson was inexperienced and kept walking away. Although there is no seamstress on-site, the salesperson’s lack of knowledge and attitude resulted in a horrible experience. She did not assure my daughter that the seamstress would be able to fit the dress so it was not digging into her. She should have spent time fixing the bottom of the dress, etc. I had to keep trying to get her attention as she kept walking away. My daughter was crying in the car. What should have been a special occasion for us turned into one I wish to forget.
I visited Ceremony a total of three times and while I didn’t end up finding my dress with them, they were my favorite salon. I dealt with Alix (the owner) and Rebecca as my stylists. They were knowledgeable about what could and couldn’t be done with a dress, and I never felt pressure to buy a dress or settle for anything less than what would make me happiest. As mentioned in previous reviews, the salon is GORGEOUS. I have to disagree with the last review— perhaps the people she dealt with were having an off day, but I always felt like I was a real person to them and they definitely engaged. At my last appointment, I was so upset and frustrated that I hadn’t found a dress yet, and Rebecca was amazing— she even stayed late and pulled extra dresses for me to try on that she thought I would like. She asked insightful questions to help me narrow down what I did and did not want. I cannot recommend them highly enough.
We spent 2 days in Boston visiting 4 salons. I would highly recommend 3, and my daughter found her dress at one. Ceremony was absolutely visually beautiful, but we were disappointed and frankly shocked with the lack of knowledge, service, and professionalism at this salon.
Bridal dresses are stock sizes, and almost always require tailoring discussions and knowledge. Our sales associate offered neither. She would help my daughter try on a dress and then stand silently in the corner, or wander off. As others reviews mentioned, it was awkward at times.
All the other locations had associates with seamstress/tailoring knowledge, and happily offered suggestions and visions for what could or could not be done with a dress. In all other locations, each consultant spent time asking my daughter basic questions about her vision, her day, and made her feel special. This should be a the bare minimum with such an emotional and important purchase.
Ceremony lacked basic professionalism, knowledge, and personal service. The owner /manager ( Don't know as she didn't introduce herself)came over and said that perhaps this wasn't the right store for us, and we can't, "force the magic to happen." We visited many salons that were not the ones we found her dress in, but all others made her feel heard and their excellent service made us feel excited to be there. What the owner doesn't get is that the, "magic happening " is also in the process of searching for the dress. Ceremony was the only place I got off the couch to assist in a dress search, or inquire about tailoring. In all others, I joyfully sat back and let the professionals do their job.
As someone who has been a manager and salesperson in retail most of my life, I personally have asked more questions and made more of a personal connection with clients ordering furniture, flatware and plates. We left ceremony and found her dress at Flair. We also found warm, knowledgable people who were excited to ask a few questions, answer many more, and make our experience special. Avoid Ceremony. If this is how they treat you when you are potentially purchasing, imagine what happens during the tailoring process, or during any glitches along the road to your big day. The cover here is way better than the book, and you deserve so much more joy and basic respect on your journey to feeling beautiful on your special day!
I absolutely loved my experience with Ceremony. It was the first place I shopped, and Alix was thoughtful, kind, knowledgeable, and skilled. Also, the place is GORGEOUS. I didn't find "The One" at that appointment, but after shopping in NYC and trying on an Alexandra Grecco rehearsal dinner dress, I ended up ordering it through Ceremony instead, because of how much more professional and good they are. If you are looking for personalized and professional, make an appointment at Ceremony!
This shop is tucked away off Charles Street like a bridal oasis. The selection is beautiful and well-curated - clearly at the forefront of bridal fashion trends. Alix assisted me with an accessories appointment. She went above and beyond to help me try different looks for my wedding, and I never felt pressured either way. Finally, the store is clean and feels very safe re: COVID protocols.
A friend told me to check out Ceremony once I got engaged and I’m so happy she did! Ceremony was the first place I visited and they happened to have an Alexandra Grecco trunk show that weekend. I became obsessed with one of the dresses I tried on that day. I went to a few more places because I felt it was so early to love a dress yet. I kept dreaming about the dress I tried on at Ceremony and went back to purchase it. Ceremony has great customer service and the studio is GORGEOUS! The whole process was very professional. They event recommended I did split sizing to avoid a bigger alterations cost. I didn’t even know this was an option! Ceremony was such a dreamy setting to fall in love with a wedding dress. I am very happy I found my dress at Ceremony and will recommend future brides to check their studio out in the future!
Ceremony is a magical spot– located in an airy and light-filled loft in Beacon Hill, the whole space just feels special. This was the first bridal salon that I visited, and after a few other places, I ended up circling back to purchase one of the first few dresses that I had tried on. Alix helped me find exactly what I wanted, even though I didn’t really *know* what I wanted. With her help, I found an absolutely gorgeous, utterly elegant gown, and managed to stay within the planned budget. Ceremony was by far my favorite salon, both in terms of the calming, beautiful space and the personal, thoughtful service. I highly recommend you book an appointment here!
My only note would be that the seamstress that they recommend charges absurd prices– I was quoted well over $1000 for minor changes to a sheath dress, even after an “off-season” discount. Instead, I recommend Beatrice at Queen Dressmakers in Cambridge. Wonderful service and beautiful work for a fraction of the price.
My gown was Rue de Seine, and I have always loved the denim jackets that they also design. As my wedding got closer, they released their “Drunk in Love” jacket and I knew I had to have it! Unfortunately, I did not live anywhere close to a Rue de Seine retailer, but my sister lived in Boston and I found this wedding salon while trying to help her once she was engaged. I ordered the denim jacket from Ceremony Boston- it was super easy! I just contacted them on IG, they emailed me the invoice, and my sister picked it up the next week! Thank you so much for helping me add this special touch to my wedding day. I wore the jacket all weekend and I will keep it as an heirloom for years to come!
Ceremony is a dream come true place for a bride. Their space is gorgeous-- so bright and beautiful. I knew I wanted a Sarah Seven dress and they were the only salon to offer them. I tried on 5 gowns and they were all so beautiful but I ended up going with exactly what I had imagined I would end up with, a Sarah Seven, Kir. We had a short engagement of 8 months and I knew I had to expedite shipping. On the night I went they did not pressure me to order which was refreshing after the last bridal salon I went to told me I would never get a dress in time. I ended up buying the dress 2 days later. They were so accommodating and helpful throughout the entire process. This place is amazing and I can't recommend them enough!
Great selection of great designers, gowns, and accessories, great staff, made buying a wedding dress so easy. They even fit us in really last minute on a Sunday morning. I thought I was going for something entirely different, but the staff encouraged me to try something different when they sensed I was gravitating toward it -- and then I ended up picking that dress. I couldn't stop thinking about it!
One of my neighbors recommended Ceremony when I told her I was looking for a wedding dress, and I am SO thankful that she did. I love my dress almost as much as I loved the experience of shopping for it! Their staff is very knowledgeable, and they knew exactly what dresses would look best on me. Plus, the store is absolutely adorable! I was so excited to go back to pick up my veil and accessories just to have an excuse to see the inside again. They made the whole process fabulous and easy, and I couldn't recommend them more!
Such an incredible selection of gorgeous and unique wedding dresses. I found "the one" on my first trip there with the help of the wonderful owner. I loved loved loved my dress and Ceremony is very friendly and has a great selection. I also picked out my head piece there. The dress came back perfect - just needed a hem!
I bought my dress at Ceremony, and their selection is just beautiful. The shop is light and airy and makes the dress buying experience truly special.
Wonderful!! Wonderful!! Wonderful!! The staff at ceremony is very friendly. The small intimate feel of the place made it so special. They made me feel like I have know them for years. The were very knowledgeable about the dress I wanted. My dress arrived earlier than expected. Thank you ladies for the excellent experience.
Excellent experience finding my perfect dress at Ceremony. They stock a wonderful selection of gowns, and the try-on experience is unhurried and not at all pushy. Molly was great every time I went, offering great feedback on the gowns, and remaining good-humored when I went back and forth between a couple dresses a few times. Very happy with my experience at Ceremony - Would definitely recommend it for any bride!
Beautiful space and lovely selections. The staff were extremely helpful, and understanding of what I wanted. They also let me know about a sample sale on the designer I bought the next weekend, which saved me some money on the dress. They also made suggestions on where to get alterations done, which was unexpected as I needed to have them done in New York not Boston.
They had so many options from that were more up my alley than the previous salons I had visited. Many of them were easier to wear, more modern and more suited to outdoor weddings. I ended up buying my dress here and it was perfect. I wore it all night and dancing a ton. My dress was not bustled (nor could it be). They also had beautiful accessories. I bought a belt there as well.
I bought my wedding dress at ceremony and have loved every interaction I've had with them. They were incredibly patient and helpful as I shopped through their beautiful selection of dresses. They helped me try on many different accessories to decide on exactly the wedding look I wanted. The dress selection was exactly what I had hoped for - elegant, fun, beautifully made, and just a little bit different. I didn't want a typical dress and none of the dresses they carried were. Since I bought my dress and veil, Ceremony has been great about answering questions and following up with me. I highly recommend Ceremony.
As a disclaimer, I did not end up buying my dress from Ceremony Boston, but it was not for any negative on their part (therefore, the price I listed is what I was quoted for the dress). I had something very specific in mind and was almost certain I would get a dress that I loved here, but when I went on one last trip to another store, I found exactly what I had been looking for originally. Even with that, it was still a hard decision, because the dress Alix found for me was so close to perfect, and actually quite similar to what I ended up choosing.
Alix, the owner, is lovely and relaxed. The space is warm and comfortable with just gorgeous light, which is really helpful when you take pictures to remember the dresses you tried on! She only has one customer in the store at a time and doesn't rush you or try to push you in any particular direction. She suggested some dresses to me based on things I told her I liked, but she didn't think twice when I asked to try on something in a totally different style. Her selection tends to be vintagy, but with a modern flair, ranging from etherial and flowy to glam to structured. She also has a great selection of accessories that she encourages you to try on with the dresses and really help complete the look.
My only qualm about Ceremony is that the selection is somewhat expensive. It's the higher end of what you would find at a national chain, but it's a steal for designer-quality. All the designs they carry are made by independent designers out of very high quality materials (no polyester), but that also means that there's really no bargaining on the price, because the price of the dress is really what it's worth.
Alix was also extremely nice and accommodating. When I wanted to come back to show the dress I liked to my mother, who was only in town for the weekend, Alix corresponded with my tirelessly via email to find a time last-minute. I think what was most helpful is she never said one particular dress looked better on me than another - if it didn't fit well, she would point that out and suggest either a different style or how it might need to be altered - but she never said whether she liked a particular style, which made it easier to speak my mind and get the opinions of the people who came with me.
I would highly recommend Ceremony if you are looking for something a little unusual and you live in the Boston area.
