I wish I could say that our wedding at Cha Bella was perfect, however, we ran into several issues that have been hard for us to shake. All of which I have reached out to management (Candice) about and received no response or acknowledgment of our concerns. It’s been 2 months since our wedding. She sent a brief “I’ll reply to you today” type of response when I followed up in November, but she never did. Given the lack of concern for such an important and expensive day for us, I am giving 2 stars for their events/catering and hopefully giving insight for others planning their special day.
Most of the food during the wedding tasted great! The Mac and cheese was not the same as the tasting, but it was still good. I also have to speak highly of Selina for knocking the decor out of the park and being patient with understanding my vision!
The cons:
1. Our ceremony and reception were held on the patio and another large event was booked inside. There was no coordination between coordinators on how it would impact each other so we had to make a couple last minute changes.
2. They were extremely understaffed for our wedding dinner and struggled to get food out in acceptable timing. We chose family style for 63 guests because space was limited to have an easily accessible buffet. My main concern with family style is that people would feel like they couldn’t take as much food as they wanted because of portion size. I voiced this several times prior to the wedding. I was reassured there would be more than enough! Not enough chicken was brought to each table, leaving some guests awkwardly waiting while others at the table ate. The sides came out at awkward timing. My nephew’s kid’s plates were brought at the end of dinner. I felt so bad and was so stressed the entire dinner! I wish they would have told me they couldn’t handle family style for our menu choices and in hindsight maybe buffet would have been better. Our vendors also didn’t get their food until end of the night in a to go box.
3. We paid per person for a bacon bar during cocktail hour and it ran out before everyone that wanted some could have some. We came into cocktail hour about 25 minutes after it started and the bacon bar was completely gone. They brought us a small portion of bacon to share equal to about 2-3strips. We did not get any of the other items that were supposed to be part of the bacon bar like chocolate covered bacon, stuffed mushrooms, bacon wrapped asparagus, etc.
4. I requested a couple times to pay BEFORE the wedding. In the busyness of the day, the venue coordinator and I both forgot to take care of it. I provided the venue with our day of timeline so they knew what the events of the night were. They waited until we were getting ready to do our grand exit to bring the check to us IN FRONT OF ALL OUR GUESTS instead of pulling us aside. Neither of us remembered to bring our cards to pay because obviously it’s a very busy day and we were supposed to pay earlier that day, so I hadn’t packed it in my venue bag. We ended up frantically figuring out how to get the card, had guests offering to pay (how embarrassing!), and never got a grand exit. They were also unwilling to waive the $100 late fee if we paid the next day. We went back to get the card, causing us to miss an hour of our after party where some people left before we got there. Overall, a very bad ending to our night with no flexibility or understanding from Cha Bella Management.
Could not recommend having a wedding/event here MORE! The space is gorgeous and exactly what we wanted--so much character, foliage, and just so quaint and lovely.
We worked with Selina to plan everything to make our big day perfect. She was so kind, knowledgeable, and thoughtful through the entire process. I wouldn't change one thing about our wedding at Cha Bella!
Such an incredible venue - only to be topped by how amazing their food is. We actually decided to hold our reception and rehearsal dinner here due to the ease of planning. Candice and her staff were wonderful and easily captured the look we were going for. I only wish they would have left the food out longer - by the time our first dances were over - it was gone. I would have loved another plate! Can’t wait to go back when we visit!
I genuinely can't thank Candice and the Cha Bella staff enough for helping me have my dream wedding! Candice was fantastic to work with and honestly made my wedding so stress free I was able to enjoy it all. The staff genuinely wanted to make sure that we had the time of our lives and we surely did. We were complimented the entire night on how good the food was and many people said it was the best food they have ever had at a wedding. The drinks were incredible, the bartender was fantastic, and the space was perfect for my 50 person wedding. I couldn't be more appreciative of the Cha Bella staff and I am so thankful for all of their hard work. Thank you thank you thank you!!!
AMAZING VENUE! Seriously, you won't regret booking with them. I have an unlimited amount of things to say. Their food is out of this world. They provided chairs, plates, and amazing service. Their bartenders, servers, and staff made sure that we all had an amazing time. They even went out of their way to make sure that our videographers & photographers were fed. Ugh, I seriously can't express all that they did. They set up everything so beautiful, they worked well with all of our vendors, they stand on top of everything. We got an ice cream cake for our wedding & they decorated it for us without us asking. I am so thankful that I chose them. It was a stress free wonderful day because of them.
The venue is beautiful and the food was great! Unfortunately the events planner would take 6 weeks to reply emails, missed a set up appointment and was 50 minutes late on the day to set up with a pretty bad attitude.
Other staff were fantastic but the lead up to the event was made far more stressful that it needed to be.
Cha Bella is a beautiful restaurant right in Savannah. We chose Cha Bella for our wedding reception because in addition to having a nice size reception room inside they have a beautiful covered patio outside. We are foodies so Cha Bella’s farm to table concept of using only the freshest ingredients prepared daily at the restaurant really appealed to us. We dined there several times prior to our wedding and the food was always outstanding. Candace, their event coordinator was very attentive and met all of our culinary needs. She was willing to meet several times and go over every detail to make sure our wedding was a success. The restaurant was decorated beautifully and the staff was very professional and friendly. We could not be happier about our wedding.
Thank you Cha Bella for making our special day perfect!
Cha Bella threw away the top tier of my wedding cake after agreeing to temporarily keep it in their cooler until I could get settled into my hotel room. When asked for the cake, they then lied to me and told me it was a health code violation to keep the cake in their cooler (which it is not).
They have refused to compensate me with anything other than a one tier cake made by their catering coordinator (not even a pastry chef) and will not return any of my calls or emails.
Other issues:
- Did not show for the initial site visit
- Slow turnaround time for communication
- Gave me a togo plate with only shellfish when they were aware of my shellfish allergy
Our dinner for 12 after the ceremony was held at Cha Bella. We had the entire upper level to ourselves for dinner. It was a wonderful meal and we were able to toast with champagne we had brought. I would recommend this restaurant for smaller weddings like what we had.
Steve did a phenomenal job catering our wedding reception. We had an alfresco reception and risked rain. Steve was prepared in advance and brought a tent for his staff and the equipment. He thought of so many extras that made our dinner amazing - even in the midst of a hard rainstorm. Steve handled the circumstances like a champion and carried on with the evening. Our guests loved the food and commented that the arrangements of the food stations were visually exciting and appetizing. Steve understood that organic and local produce were important to us, while balancing with flavor richness, and he provided a lot of options for us. He has great taste and a wide variety of selections. Our tasting at Cha Bella was off the charts too! We look forward to having more of Steve's creations in the future, when we renew our vows!
We held our rehearsal dinner here and it was fabulous. Delicious food and great atmosphere.
They were a little hard to get in touch with, but don't give up! They're totally worth it.
