Char-Don Catering

Felt like I was taken advantage of by Charles. I hired the caterer for a Celebration of Life. For those that have ever planned one, it's hard to know the guest count, so a plated food option wasn't really going to work. I talked to Charles about a Coffee Bar and some pastries for the room. We agreed on a list of items that would be included and a price. I also advised Charles that we had the room from 1-5 pm, 1-2 was to be for his setup, 2-4 for the Celebration, and then 4-5 was for cleanup. I arrived at 1 pm. Charles was there...but he wouldn't bring any of the food into the room until closer to 2 pm. By the time 2 pm rolled around, he was bringing in small quantities of what seemed like store-purchased cookies and cans of Coke. Since I was too busy greeting the guests for the Celebration, the last thing I wanted to deal with was catering issues. This continued throughout the event. Small amounts were being brought in, as he could get into the room, which was now standing room only. When I called him the next day, he complained that I had too many people. My contract was for 75 or 80, (originally he quoted 100 people). The guest book showed 80 guests. It was standing room only, but he knew that going in, which is why he had an hour to set up the food, which he didn't do. He didn't really follow the menu choices on my list, didn't provide the products we contracted for (Coffee bar was an urn), and then refused to provide me with credit. I paid in full, upfront. $1,000 for about a case of coke products and some boxed cookies. He stated that he had lots of leftovers, but they weren't offered to me. I would suggest finding a different caterer. One that stands by his products and delivers what he says. These are special days and catering plays a big part. This was a failure by Charles

I had a wonderful experience with Char-Don. Charles was very helpful answering all my questions. Their food was great at the tasting and the day of which is a big plus because some caterers don’t cook with the same quality the day of. Charles always answered quick and effectively. I would reccomend they allow customers to try more than one option at the tasting.

I'm horrified by my experience with Charles from Char-Don Catering. Stay away from this company unless you want Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde catering your event. I originally called explaining I was on a tight budget and needed something simple for my wedding. He sent me a quote with a bunch of add ons that I didn't need, so I asked him to take those items off and that I was only interested in dinner. He gave me attitude, but I disregarded it and continued to schedule a tasting. I explained some options that I was interested in trying, but he was unwilling to let me try anything besides one dish because "it takes too much time to make the others." I still wanted to give his company a chance despite the lack of customer service. Then he sent me an email at night to confirm the tasting. The next morning he called me angrily to confirm the tasting and said he needed to know asap if I was coming. Shocked by his aggressiveness and attitude towards me, I was quiet on the phone for 10 seconds while he repeatedly screamed in my ear "HELLO!" I then told him that I felt uncomfortable and that I'd like to cancel the tasting. He responded with "Good, cause I don't have time for stupid, airy, indecisive people. " He proceed to verbally harassed me for another minute before I made a quick exit on the phone

Affordable, responsive, communicative and detail-oriented, Charles & his team did such a great job for our wedding reception! We decided to do a BBQ buffet to say goodbye to summer for our Labor Day wedding. We had guests from both Alabama & Texas on the groom's side and the BBQ held up to their scrutiny. They said it was great - and Alabamans know their BBQ! We did 'fancier' hors d'ouevres and they were outstanding. Everything was just delicious. Raves all around. The bartender made great drinks (not watered down, either!) , the staff cleared empties and plates quickly. They also cut our cake and did a beautiful job. I couldn't be more impressed. Highly recommend them. The execution was perfect, but I also want to emphasize the customer service before was great. We were doing our wedding in Orlando, from Boston, and having Charles to help with floor plan layout, to give me tips on where to put the dance floor, etc... it really helped. Thank you, Charles and team for a wonderful time!
