We held our rehearsal dinner on the Charles 1 mid October and it was awesome! We were lucky with the weather, and the 2 hr cruise itself has a beautiful route with great photo ops. The crew, Captain Sean and 1st mate Sam, were great! The catering company they work with was well worth the money! Dayna was our contact the whole time and was so easy and pleasant to work with, and since we live out of state, it was so nice to know she had us covered! Even when I emailed her in the afternoon the day of, she got right back to me, a blessing as a stressed out bride! We also took the sunset cocktail cruise in August to scout out the boat, and that was a blast too. Cannot recommend enough if you are looking for a really cool rehearsal dinner or even wedding venue, seriously consider the Charles Riverboat Company!
We just celebrated our wedding in September, the boat was beautiful and Macoy did an incredible job coordinating with all of our vendors. Would really recommend the charles river side if you're having a smaller event.
We just celebrated our daughters wedding this weekend with the Charles Riverboat company and it couldn’t have been a better experience! Dayna was outstanding in guiding us through the planning process - remotely! Staff was friendly, food great and touring the harbor was enjoyed by all. Would highly recommend!
Where to even begin with this review! When Coronavirus ruined original wedding plans, the CRC ended up saving the day for us not only once, but twice.
The first time was when another Boston boat company we signed a contract with canceled a month before. In hindsight, that cancellation was the BEST thing that could have ever happened. Within hours I called the CRC n in tears & full of doubt when Cecily answered the phone. I explained my dilemma and she calmed me right down. Within minutes I had an email with different chartering options, menu options, pricing, etc.
Our original plan was to only take a 2 hour cocktail cruise and be dropped off at a restaurant. The restaurant portion fell through two weeks before the wedding. The company was quick to accommodate our change of plans and omg, to say we’re glad things played out the way they did is an understatement.
Our wedding reception on board was not only the highlight of mine and my husband‘s life, but other family has told us the same. (To the point that we’re all talking about having a reunion on board again next summer!) We were greeted with the most friendly staff who were there for our every need. The views were absolutely stunning but honestly, a stormy day would have been just as gorgeous and memorable. The Captain was so sweet, allowing my nephews on board to take turns steering. The bartenders were so fast and friendly and made our “signature cocktail” for the evening. We were able to plug in our phones and dance the night away to our customized playlist while taking in views of Boston Harbor lit up at night. They also allowed for us to bring as many personalized decorations on board and set up everything for us in advance. Our wedding of 25 immediate family members was the most magical night all thanks to them. I’ll never ever forget looking around at my family, dancing on the most gorgeous luxury yacht (during a PANDEMIC) and feeling such happiness and gratitude for things turning out the way they did. The Charles River Boat Company really gave us the “best day ever” and the other company canceling was the biggest blessing in disguise.
I have to give a special thank you to Cecily, who I jokingly referred to as my angel throughout the process. From the second I met her over the phone all my worries dissipated because it was so evident from the get-go that we were in great hands. I truly don’t think I’ve ever met someone as knowledgeable and professional as she is. She had an answer and solution for every random question or concern, Coronavirus related or not. My family found this so admirable especially during a pandemic in which we’re all sailing unchartered waters, to put a pun on it. Cecily coordinated all of the planning and everything leading up to the day so I was thrilled to find she would be on board with us. The day after the wedding when our family was recapping, it seemed everyone had a different Cecily encounter or story to share; all were nothing but raving reviews of her. To top it all off—when we left our remaining wedding cake on board at the end of the evening, Cecily personally went out of her way to drive it to us on a holiday weekend the following day. She’s a rare gem and I highly recommend trying to work with her!!
Micro wedding or not, Coronavirus or not, book your wedding/event with the Charles Riverboat Company and you’ll have the greatest, most unique, memorable, talked about experience. Your only regret will be that it flies by too fast!
We did our ceremony/cocktail hour on the Valiant and our reception at the Multicultural Arts Center. We saw the Valiant on our first day looking at wedding venues and nothing quite measured up after that. We loved having the first half of the wedding on the Valiant - you get beautiful views of the Boston skyline and the boat itself is the most beautiful boat you can charter in Boston at its size. The idea of the boat itself also felt very unique, special and very reflective of us/our relationship - since we really love the water/boats and wanted a nautical wedding in Boston.
Melissa at Charles Riverboat Company helped organize things. She was really great: responsive, easy to work with, very nice. One of our best vendors!
We definitely made the right choice. Brooke, Melissa, and the whole staff were kind, professional, responsive and so helpful in helping us put together an amazing evening, right down to personal touches such as glasses of sparkling wine for guests as they came aboard. We did the entire ceremony and reception on the Valiant, and it provided the elegant but laid-back feeling we were looking for. The amazing weather helped! Brooke did a great job keeping everyone on track for the rehearsal and she and her team made the whole night seamless and responded to a number of our requests on the fly. Highly recommended!
My wedding was on the Riverboat Lexington. The Lexington is a custom designed 75' authentic two level paddle wheel boat cruising the Boston Harbor. Lisa McKennon is fabulous to work with. The whole day was so smooth. I didn't have to worry about a thing, Lisa and her company took care of everything. I can't really do this company justice with 5 stars. They communicate every detail and keep you informed of any changes. They take care of a beautiful venue, the catering, and the DJ/entertainment. The boat is very reasonably priced and they work with your budget for catering. Everything was upfront and no hidden costs. All the guests had a fabulous time because there was always food, drinks, music and amazing scenery. I could never thank Lisa and the team enough for giving us the happiest day of our lives!
I loved having my wedding on a boat in the Boston Harbor - Emily (the event manager) was incredible, from showing us the boats to helping the big day run smoothly. We had our wedding on the Valiant and it was such a unique and memorable experience for all involved! Using the upper and lower decks for different functions made transitions - from cocktail hour to dinner to dancing - more interesting and seamless and the view of the city as the sun set was incredible. I would do it all over again if given the chance. Anyone searching for a truly special setting for a wedding in Boston should definitely look into the Charles Riverboat Company.
We decided to have our wedding - both ceremony and reception - on the Lexington. We could not have been more pleased. Emily from Charles River Boat Company met us in the freezing cold back in December to show us options for boats on a Saturday no less! She was always available for any question no matter how small. She also got us hooked up with great vendors for cake and catering.
The rehearsal was able to happen on the boat the night before - good thing since none of us knew what we were doing - but Emily helped us get through the set up and run thru a few times. The day of was flawless. The entire Charles River Boat staff was professional, helpful and courteous to all of our guests.
I cannot say enough good things about Emily and the Charles River Boat Company. It was the perfect setting for a laid back wedding with beautiful views of Boston. I wouldn't change a thing. Thank you!
The Charles Riverboat company was great to work with in as I reviewed boats in cold and bluster Feb/March pondering venues. Heather was very patient, answering all my questions and taking me out on the boats more than once as I tried to narrow down my venue selections. They made everything easy and painless, providing the information on caterer, bakery and at the last minute procuring a DJ for me, they really helped ease the complexity of planning and made the entire process seamless for me! The night itself was one of a kind. Again, Heather with the CRC staff coordinated and managed my event flawlessly. Every minute was perfect and there wasn't a dull moment. In fact the time went so quickly that we wanted to stay. I'd recommend a harbor cruise through CRC to anyone who wants something other than the same 4 walls of a ballroom setting. NOTE: Costs include price of cruise, catering, etc.
