Marvin not only was an incredible DJ, but he was our master of ceremonies! He kept our reception moving until the last song. He was absolutely the best, and we are so lucky to have had him!
We are so glad we found and booked DJ Marvin! He was so helpful and professional throughout the whole experience. He did an amazing job with the music for our entire day, but especially enjoyed the reception! He kept us dancing while also using requested songs. Highly recommend!
Marvin was an awesome DJ! I'm still getting compliments from guests saying how good he was! Great job at reading the crowd and keeping the party going !
Great job keeping the crowd entertained. Very thoughtful and helpful as he asked questions as needed along the way to make sure things ran smooth.
Marvin was absolutely amazing. He did our wedding and our reception music. Our wedding had a 1920's theme and he did an amazing job finding great jazz and other vintage songs to play. Everything sounded great! He also found the two tracks we requested which were very rare/ specific. Thanks to him, our reception was perfect. My husband and I will always remember our romantic first dance! Marvin did a great job with the ceremony music too (he also provided the mic for our officiant). Seriously, I can't overstate how much we enjoyed this service. Thanks Marvin! You did a great job!
I was not a bride who likes to control every single detail and this dj understood that. He did a great job getting ppl involved during the reception. I didnt pick every song but he stayed along the same lines and did a great job. He also did our ceremony music and lights. A joy to work with.
The absolute best. Marvin takes care of everything for you. We never worried about anything. I will recommend to everyone I know.
Marvelous Marvin was awesome, i highly reccomend him, he played everything on our play list, he kept the dance floor busy.
Marvin is a God-send! He knows all music! He knows how to make anything sound good or mix to another genre! He's amazing and fun and worth every penny! He's easy to work worth and really great on the communication end! Thank you, Marvin, for keeping our wedding "hoppin"! You won't regret this one, ladies!
On my way to rehearsal the day before my wedding, the DJ calls to tell us that we didn't pick any music on the website. Apparently my husband and I forgot to hit save after picking all of our wedding music. I gave him our first dance and other special dances over the phone, and from that he had to pick everything, and he was wonderful. He watched how the crowd reacted to certain types of music and made his choices from that, and it went off perfectly even though he had nothing to go on. The only negative thing I have to say is that one of the songs was a little inappropriate for the wedding, but with nothing to go on how was he to know. And I think someone requested it (says a lot about my guests). I told him I wasn't super comfortable with it and he kept it clean after that.
My venue suggested Marvin (Check 1,2). We met with him and went over pricing and such. He insisted he wouldn't take a deposit- odd, but nice- and his services would be $400. We thought it was a great deal. That was ceremony music, reception music and the lightshow for the reception as well. Turns out it's true- you get what you pay for. A month before the wedding we submitted our timeline and playlist online. 2 weeks before the wedding we called to check in. He put us off for a week- so we planned to meet up with him the week of the wedding. He said he was busy with church every night. SO... I sent him emails about details. I emailed him youtube links to songs that were a MUST for us (including our intro), as the songs weren't his online library. He said he could download anything we needed. He said he'd get them and we were good to go. BUT right before our intro, he comes to us to ask about our intro song! Turns out he forgot to download it. So, in the small amount of time left, my new husband pointed at something on Marvin's print out list and we walked in to "Ms New Booty". TERRIBLE. My guests laughed, but I was livid. I hid it well though. It was a good thing my groom's boss happened to have a cd in his car with our first song on it. He also could not seem to say our last name correctly! It's 2 syllables. It's very, very simple. Good grief. We got past that just to realize our dj kept disappearing. Songs would be on loop- songs we never asked to hear- and he was gone! The cha-cha slide played for 12 minutes. Ugh! My husband spotted him loading up ANOTHER plate of food and ducking into a back room to scarf it down. We never heard half of the "Must hear" songs we put in the contract, but we heard plenty of generic wedding songs. My wedding party started telling him what to play finally! And there was no light show to boot. He knew he goofed up too- when it was time to pay him, we'd had a mix up with the cash envelopes and were somehow $40 short. We were going to write a check for the remainder, but he said not to worry about since he messed up. This was just another less than great vendor that sucked the magic right out of our day. I wish I had a vendor that deserved even a "fair" rating. Spend the money and have a HAPPY wedding day! If I could go back in time, I would!
I used Marvin Sullivan, owner of Check 1,2 DJ's because he was highly recommended by my venue. Overall I think Marvin did a good job. However, my husband was disappointed because Marvin did not play the song he requested for when he walked down the aisle. He also had to hurry up to set up for our wedding because he had done another gig at the same venue right before ours.
