Matt and his entire team are a dream to work with - they know what works and what doesn't, offer great advice, and are just really lovely people! Even better - they offered everything we needed to make an offsite backyard wedding run smoothly - from chairs and tables to china and linens and even a coordinator to help us with minor decor and logistics. When our ceremony ended 30 minutes early - Matt and the staff adjusted quickly to make it happen - quickly opening bars to serve drinks and bring out food. The team was so kind and responsive - and so good at their jobs! Our guests are a tough crowd when it comes to food (especially steak) and they couldn't stop raving about the cocktail hour and the dinner! Everything was cooked so perfectly, and the staff made it so much fun! A few weeks later, guests are still talking to me about how funny the bartenders were and how much fun they had with the "cannoli guy" who came out and served guests cannolis while they were dancing on the dance floor! Matt felt like a real partner as we planned our wedding and we are so grateful!

He offered to discount his price which helped to offset the additional fees of changing venues. We are so glad we stuck with Matt because the food was SO incredibly delicious, and our guests couldn’t stop raving about the food. Matt has his own staff and offers a “French style” menu where you choose several entrees and sides and the servers come around multiple times to offer seconds and thirds to everyone. They cook onsite and the food was fresh, hot and unlimited. Matt Kar is a great guy with a respected reputation in the wedding industry which was why he was able to help us pivot on such a short notice. Typically Duck Walk and other venues in the area do not allow other caterers to come on property when they have their own contracted. Because of Matt’s reputation he was able to speak with different vendors/venues and most were accommodating thanks to him. Matt’s site coordinator, Christine was an absolute angel, and I appreciated her flexibility and willingness to take on the challenge of coordinating at a site she has never coordinated before and was unfamiliar with the site staff, layout, and flow of the day. We did not have a wedding planner, so she was my point contact for coordinating the whole day. Christine came through for us and our day went off without a hitch. If anyone is hesitating about working with Matt and his team because of what happened with the town, I hope this eases your doubts because they truly stepped up to the plate, went above and beyond and knocked it out of the park.

The onsite staff, especially Jaclyn and Trisha, were incredible, frequently checking in with myself and my husband to ensure we had anything we might need. For guests with allergies, all the staff were vigilant and would make sure there were items to offer them that they could enjoy. We used the French Style service, many of our guests are still raving about the variety and how delicious everything was. We used Christopher Michael for all of the rentals as well. They did a beautiful job with the entire event.

ring 10 months in advance of the date. This was on the early side but I did not want to risk losing out on what would be our centerpiece vendor for the entire event. Matt was so easy to work with from day one. I had initially solicited all the major catering vendors on the North Fork. Matt was far and away the most organized and responsive of everyone I reached out to. I had full menus and price lists within a day and he answered all questions right away. His menus were so good! He had great options for every palate, with very fair pricing and great add on options such as the raw bar and lobster rolls. When we met in person, he put all our concerns to ease. He’s been doing large events and weddings for decades now and knows all the venues, other vendors, etc. I was struggling to find a tent vendor who could provide what we wanted, his suggestion “just call Bobby over at American Tent, tell him I sent you” was perfect! Not only did the team at American Tent deliver a beautiful Sail Cloth tent at a fraction of the cost of the other vendors, I had peace of mind knowing that Matt, who helped me plan all the final details, knew the other vendors very well and would step in if I needed assistance. In deciding our menu for the event, Matt hosted us for a delicious dinner at the Manor where we got to sample all sort of dishes to get a taste for his quality and vision. Everything we tasted was perfect. Picking the menu after that was a breeze (filet mignon with horseradish dill sauce, chicken and lemon capers, pesto ravioli, raw bar, etc.) Months later we still have friends telling us it was hands down the BEST wedding food they’ve ever had. In addition to the food, Matt and his team went above and beyond, essentially filling in as assistant wedding planners and coordinators. He provided me with sample timelines for the day as well as how he likes to coordinate with the other vendors to ensure the entire event runs smooth from start to finish. His event manager, Cynthia, seemed to be everywhere at once the entire day of my wedding. She was at my Mom’s and Day of Coordinator’s sides for much of the event, taking care of everything before it could even be asked. She knew exactly where and when for every detail, beyond just the food, working with the DJ, photographers, etc. The serving staff was also amazingly professional and courteous. I went with French style service so food came out on platters and was served to each person HOT! So many people were shocked that everything was fresh and hot, the timing and prep was perfect. I can’t imagine my day without their entire team. Every single one of them went above and beyond all our expectations to deliver the wedding of our dreams. To anyone looking for the perfect caterer for your event, Matt and Christopher Michael is your answer.

He helped us walk through our cocktail hour food options and even had an employee come out with a tray of food for us while we were taking photos in the rain! Such dedication. When my mom went to give them their envelope at the end of the evening the CM team complimented my mom on our guests! It was truly a match made in heaven. Martha Clara. Communications were very easy - we dealt with Matt leading up to the day and then Christine a few weeks prior to our event. Emails were returned quickly. Matt was very flexible and was very willing to make modifications from the basic packages. Christine was very much on top of what was needed and reminded us several times that she had everything under control -- and she did. The food was simply amazing. We opted for the raw bar, which was a huge hit. Matt's staff seamlessly moved from the cocktail hour outdoors to the main event indoors. We opted for the French style service, which was great - guests could have a little bit of everything instead of being limited to one entree. We have had many people tell us after the wedding that it was the best wedding meal they've ever had and it was hard to disagree. They were very flexible with us bringing in outside cake and pie. The bartenders and waiters were extremely professional. Everything went perfectly. We can't thank Matt, Christine and the Christopher Michael team enough! Book with them - you won't regret it!

From set up to clean up Mr. Kar's staff were professional and personable to all our guests. I was amazed that our 200 person wedding was served dinner french style in under 30 minutes. Many of our guests have shared with us that they went back for seconds, even thirds. The mac-and-cheese balls and corn salad were HUGE hits. Mr . Kar prepared tuna, steak and chicken for our wedding all were phenomenal. I could not give a higher recommendation for a wedding caterer. Dinner was served French style, which meant that the three entrees were open to all guests through table service -- no need to get up for seconds and thirds, the food comes to the guests. We chose the shrimp, the pesto ravioli, and the filet mignon, all of which were delicious. The filet mignon was cooked especially well. It's making me hungry just thinking about it. Also, Matt worked with us to customize the menu by adding more duck items to cocktail hour (to honor Long Island) and to add some of his restaurant's chocolate-macadamia nut pies to the dessert table. Throughout the night, the staff made every effort to make the experience special. A few days later, the catering manager even sent over photos that the staff took of the venue to show how beautiful everything was. Matt Karr's years of experience were demonstrated in our wedding. on July 2nd, 2016 at the Hempstead House in Sands Point. It's a unique venue that requires you to bring in EVERYTHING. It was quite an undertaking... Ok well first let me say why we chose Christopher Michael and then I'll get into how they executed. When we first met with Matt, we hit it off. Matt is the type of guy that wants the food to be perfect. He's the type of guy that you want to have a drink with. From the moment we saw Matt's menu we knew he was our top choice. He reassured us that not only was his company the best fit but he could execute everything to perfection. That was exactly what we were looking for. We discussed prices (very fair for the level we were looking for), logistics with our production company and also challenges if we wanted to make last minute changes (which we did). All along the way his responsiveness could not have been better. If we wanted to something changed, he changed it at no extra cost.. His "go to" line is "sure, whatever you want." We trusted him and that was HUGE to us. We decided to have a "recovery" brunch at our home the next day with around 150 ppl and we chose Matt for that as well. The execution was FLAWLESS! Our cocktail reception perfectly captured our Gatsby themed wedding. Three high end cuts of meat, three fresh seafood options and everything else from salads to the raw bar/slider station, small patron bottles filled with Margaritas.. the list goes on and on. The feedback from our guests was incredible. The "wedding of a century" is what we've heard repeated over and over again. Matts high-end professionalism matched the story tale execution of our event. Appetizers were just amazing.. custom designed, delicious and decadent. I rarely write reviews but I feel like I owed Matt and his team the respect. The next day at our house was a repeat of the night before (with some chuckles from the staff seeing us just a tad tired). A few things that we got to know about Matt through the process. Why is it called Christopher Michael Caterers? Thats his boys names. We thought that was just awesome because we're such family people. Matts staff has been with him for years and years unlike some of the other caterers who hire temp help for big events. He wants you to have fun!! He makes excellent suggestions.. Many times we disagreed with his opinion of placement of chairs/stations, etc. In the end we listened to Matt and, admittedly, he was right every time. My suggestion to anyone on the east end of Long Island, Hamptons or the North Fork-or anywhere on LI would be to meet with him and you'll see what I mean. Several times he said to me, you can do that but it's a complete waste of money.. I'll do whatever you want but I'd hate to see you spend the money if you don't need too. Who does that?
