CJs catering was a great choice for us. Our meeting / tasting with the head chef was the best part. He made us feel so welcome & heard. We were a little bummed come wedding day when our menu was a bit different than what we were told we would have, but it was all fine and we are happy with our choice. I would definitely recommend CJ’s. They have a wide variety to pick from and it’s extremely affordable for the value and amount.
We had CJ’s catering for our wedding this past Sunday and it was so delicious! Our guests were so happy with the food that was provided. The caterer that was there had my husband and I’s plates ready for us at our table which was amazing, we really would not have had time to go through the lines! Working with the catering coordinator throughout the wedding planning process was great and she made it very easy for us! Love love love!
I am still getting compliments on how good the food was at my Wedding! CJ's Catering was so great to work with and helped us at every step in determining a menu, appetizers, and numbers. The food tasted just as good as it did at the tasting and I promise you will die over the incredible mac and cheese! They were great and easy to communicate with, easy process for picking food, and overall a great choice for us. I absolutely recommend their services for any event!
There is not one single thing about this vendor I would change. It was beyond amazing and the food tasted SO good. All of our guests commented on how amazing it was and we were sent home with all of the leftovers. They helped cut the cake and bussed tables. Their customer service is the best. We went with their Italian option and had a pasta bar. I can't even describe how amazing it all tasted.
Everyone loved the food! We had cajun food and it was immaculate, the service was outstanding and it was easy to work with them. We felt like we were in good hands the entire time. Our coordinator Shelby from PLAN ON IT ATX recommended them and they served it up for sure! Thank you so much for catering our wedding!
CJ's Catering did a fantastic job. We went with the homestyle menu and everyone keeps telling us how delicious it was! When we met with Chef Ralph for the tasting, he was very professional and informative. We also paid for cake cutting services, which was so worth it!
Three words, MACARONI AND CHEESE!!! For me that was the star dish that we had, it was amazing!! We did however have ceasar salad, rib niblits, and build your own pulled pork sandwiches all of which were delicious, my only complaints is the rib niblits tasted better during the tasting and were a bit cold and more fatty and we ran out of pulled pork so I wish we had more of that leftover. Overall it was delicious, just a few improvements could have been made, especially not letting people go through the buffet early. Otherwise, delicious!
CJ's was absolutely awesome throughout the entire process, planning, food trials, and the day of the wedding! Huge shoutout to Sasha the coordinator, Chef Ralph, and the whole rest of the team. They were super accommodating especially considering we had to scale back the guest count, and the mac and cheese bar was amazing along with the pecan crusted chicken and the beef tenderloin. Sasha worked with us through the process, from questions, to scheduling tasting, to anything we needed before and during the wedding and staffed and did a fantastic job, shoutout to the other serving lady at the wedding. Chef Ralph was awesome and really loves what he does, and that translates directly into the service and food, shoutout to the other Chef lady as well!
Last but not least their price is absolutely unbeatable considering how awesome they were. Would recommend to anyone.
Ralph and Sasha are the best ever. The food was and still is the talk of the event. 100% without a doubt they are the best catering anyone could have. Words cant express how thankful I am to them for all that they did. Cant wait till we have another special event to be able to enjoy Ralphs food.
Delicious!!!
Meeting with them beforehand was easy and the best thing is that they were super accommodating to my gluten allergy. The food was delicious and we would 100% recommend to anyone who asks.
ps - get the mac and cheese!
Thank you CJ's Catering for a delicious meal and outstanding service on our wedding day! We selected their Italian menu and many guests commented on how they wanted to go through the buffet line again for second helpings. Every special request that we had asked for was executed perfectly, and the team we worked with to get the contract set up was extremely responsive and easy to work with.
Working with Ralph and Sasha of CJ’s Catering was one of the best decisions that we made about our wedding day. We knew we had to have excellent food for our wedding day and as soon as we met with Ralph, the head chef, and tasted his menu, we were sold. The staff was very professional during our wedding reception and all of our guests were able to get through the buffet quickly and easily. The food was simply fantastic and we wish we could have a Ralph prepare our food everyday-the warm German potato salad is still being discussed!
I hired CJs Catering to cater my wedding. The pre-wedding interaction was great, the team was very responsive to my questions. The day of my wedding, I was disappointed, as I asked for cheese garlic bread, yet breadsticks were served. (Yes, my request for cheese garlic bread was documented on my contract). I was not alerted beforehand that breadsticks would be served, so I am unsure why were not served what was contracted.
The food itself was ok.
If you are looking for excellent catering at an unbelievable price go with CJ's! Do not be hesitant about the connection to a bowling alley, that makes it better because the food and service you get is exceptional. Their team was quick to respond throughout the planning process, our tasting was comfortable and allowed us to get to know the team and become comfortable with who would be catering and what we would be serving, and the level of service they provided at the event was outstanding. Everyone LOVED the food at our wedding, we got all of the leftovers packed up for us and ate on them for a week. The only time we were disappointed was when the food was gone. Thank you CJ's!
What do people remember about your wedding? The FOOD and CAKE. CJ's Catering was the best choice we made for both our rehearsal dinner and wedding night! I can't say enough good things about them, from communication to planning, tasting and the actual food that was made for our events. I have had the most picky eaters admit it was so DELICIOUS! I would go with them again for any catering needs. Main course, sides, drinks, utensils, and plates were all included-- they made life easy during my hectic wedding time. Thank you so much to everyone at CJ's Catering for exceptional service all the way around!
Everything about CJ's was great! The staff was very courteous and "on point". Everything they did was seamless, it moved smoothly from cocktail hour, dinner, to dessert. They worked very well with the venue staff and made dining a pleasure. The food was outstanding. Our guests raved about the quality and flavors of the food. P.S. You have to try their macaroni and cheese, it is to die for!
CJ’s Catering did an awesome job catering our wedding on April 14, 2018!! We had home style appetizers and dinner for 175 guests and received compliments from everyone on how delicious everything tasted!! CJ’s was easy to work with, Neire was very responsive and communicative throughout the whole process! They set up and took down the food, helped oversee our guests’ on the buffet line, and answered any questions people had about the menu. I will use them for all of my future catering needs, they were great and the food was fantastic!!
We used CJ's for our April wedding. The biggest benefit to using them is that they are incredibly reasonable price wise compared to other caterers in the area. Neire was very easy to work with and she answered my million questions up to the big day. The food was delicious on the day of and the staff were all friendly. I highly recommend them especially if you are looking for decent food at a reasonable price.
CJ's catered my wedding last weekend, the food was wonderful and the staff were friendly, prompt and worked so hard to make our day great. we opted for brunch and their Belgian waffles and breakfast tacos were perfect. The fruit was fresh, the bacon was high quality, I could go on and on. We got so many compliments. The gentlemen who worked the event were so on top of everything, they didn't leave a single crumb behind! Absolutely recommend them! Very reasonably priced also! Thank you for helping make our day so wonderful!
Overall we are happy with the services we received from CJ's. So many people raved about the food and we also thought it was very good! The braciole is to die for!! Our only complaint is that the tables were supposed to be bused and they were not... Plates sat on tables for hours. However, if thats the worst thing that happened we are in good business! Thanks CJ's!
Although the entire evening was a blur, one of the few things that stood out was our delicious dinner! From our first tasting through the end of our wedding every experience we had with CJ's staff was prompt, professional, and friendly. We had 3 proteins of varying cook and difficulty and everything was cooked perfectly. Our guests also gave us many compliments on the food selection. They also traveled a considerable distance to our venue for a very reasonable fee. I would absolutely refer CJ's Catering to anyone looking to wow their guests and have a stress free vendor.
Okay no but really, don't look any further. Their food is hands down the best in the business (and you absolutely CANNOT beat their prices). Their mac n cheese...heavenly. We are still receiving compliments from guests that this was the best wedding food they have ever had. Chef Ralph was such a huge help and truly made a menu that suited us. We are so grateful! 100% recommend!!
Look no further, this is the caterer you want!!! We STILL have people telling us how amazing the food was at our wedding, especially the Mac and cheese!! Nady was so great to work with, she was very responsive to emails and phone calls. She also really helped us through the tasting process (I’m very indecisive!) and the portions at the tasting are super generous so bring a big appetite. The prices are reasonable. We actually ended up using their bartenders and they did an awesome job. Overall, we were very satisfied!
Overall CJ's was great, the fajitas buffet was really good! And they were very timely and provided good service.
The experience taste testing and setting up a delicious menu was exceptionally easy. Every item of food we ordered was cooked to perfection and so delicious. I can't say enough about the amazing staff and food.
I cannot say enough good things about our caterer. The food was excellent! They were able to accommodate picky dieters at our reception and it still tasted great. The staff, especially Nady, was extremely friendly and had everything together. They helped me to stay on top of head counts and orders. They were professional and extremely helpful with the set up and clean up process. Their menu is extensive for all types of events, from casual to more formal, and the prices are very reasonable. I would absolutely recommend them to anyone and use them again.
We used CJ's for both our rehearsal brunch and our wedding and I have zero complaints. Not only were they SO easy to work with and quick to communicate leading up to our big weekend, but the food could NOT have been better. Chef Ralph was SO willing and eager to accommodate dietary restrictions--my husband and I are both vegetarian and at our tasting when we chose an appetizer with chicken (and pouted about how much we miss eating that particular dish), he volunteered to make us a tofu version for during the cocktail hour (and it was AMAZING). I can't say enough good things about Nady, Ralph, and the staff who worked our events. Polite, professional, and great quality food--all at a great (competitive) price.
We booked CJ's for our rehearsal dinner and day of. We got a discount for booking him for both. :) We had the dinner rehearsal at Mel's Lone Star Lanes in their event room. It was free w/ the catering. Our families were able to hang out for some fun after the dinner and bowl. We had Italian for rehearsal dinner, and BBQ the day of... both were AMAZING!!!!
CJ's staff is very friendly and will work with you to accommodate your budget and requests. When we had our tasting with CJ's, we knew they had to be our caterer. The food was amazing and all the guests raved about it, however, they had a lot of complaints about waiting 30+ minutes for staff to run to HEB to get crappy paper plates because they didn't order the correct amount of 260 that we asked for and instead ordered 100 too few plates.... I didn't find out about this until after the wedding and only from our guests, not CJ's who didn't acknowledge or apologize for this mishap until we called to complain. I'm disappointed that some of my guests were left starving and disappointed at what otherwise would have been the perfect wedding.
Our coordinator recommended CJ's to us and for the most part, we were happy we went with them. We had a small budget and CJ's fit into it. Nady is amazing and I'm not sure how I would've survived planning my wedding without her. She is the sweetest person and was always very bubbly and patient with us. When we had second thoughts about our menu, they set up a tasting for another menu we had our eye on and never complained. The food the day of was not as good as our tasting, but that may be due to the food having to be prepped a few hours before instead of fresh. But our guests loved the food and didn't have any complaints. The only issue we had was a money issue. My now-husband and I are from military backgrounds, so most of our family was from out of state. We didn't have a solid count when the final count was due. They told us that if a few extra people showed up, it was no big deal but if 10+ extra people showed up, we would later be charged. They also said if 10+ people didn't show up, they would refund for the amount of people that didn't show. We ended up having 19 guests that RSVP'd "yes" not show up. When we contacted CJ's about a refund (around $300), Chef Ralph said they only refund before the wedding and we would've had to let them know before the wedding. How were we supposed to know that almost 20 people, who we double checked with the week of, would no-show? We had way too much food left over and ending up throwing a lot of it out. We were pretty disappointed that CJ's went back on their word, but the food itself was good.
CJ's is great!! We live out of town so we couldn't do a tasting but we went with fajitas. We were not disappointed at all. They're great... they did our cake cutting, kept drinks filled, stayed until the end of the night, and boxed up our cake for us.
I can not say enough good things about CJ's. Don't let them being based out of a bowling alley fool you, they do a lot of business and a lot of weddings, and they are fantastic. The food is amazing. I feel like most people just do BBQ at their weddings because it's easy but most the time the food ends up tasting like crap. I wanted to stay away from BBQ and do something different but stay with southern food, CJ's was perfect for that. Ralph is such an easygoing, nice, and funny guy. It was my mom, myself, and my then fiancé at the taste test and he hung out with us and joked around with us like we had known him for years. Neire (Nady) was fantastic as well, she's very prompt with communication and is extremely nice. You can't go wrong with CJ's.
Like other reviewers have said, do not be fooled by CJ's being based out of a bowling alley! They are amazing! Chef Ralph is such a nice guy and his newest assistant was accommodating, detail oriented and on-the-ball with just about everything. The food was sooooo good. I had family and friends come up to me after the wedding saying that they had never had such great food and in such good portions at a wedding before. Little tip: have the Spinach and Artichoke dip. My family, wedding party and I all agree that it's the best we've ever had! Our menu was simple and classic, perfect for a wedding. The only reason I gave CJ's 4 stars was because of some setup things with our rentals and alcohol that didn't go as planned that I felt should have considering how much I had discussed them with Ralph's assistant leading up to the wedding. It wasn't a big deal to me by the time I walked into my reception, but I did notice it right away which was unfortunate. My advice would be to assign a point person from your family/friends to coordinate with the manager/assistant on your big day to make sure things are set up like you want them to be. But, like I said, the FOOD WAS GREAT! And, I almost forgot to mention, CJ's is incredibly AFFORDABLE! We looked at the final invoice the week of the wedding and we were over-the-moon about the quality of food and customer service for the price. I would recommend CJ's catering to anyone looking for a caterer.
Do not be fooled by CJ's being housed in a bowling alley. They use the kitchen and resources of the bowling alley parent company to keep your costs low and the quality high.
We had a BBQ dinner and added cake cutting service as well. CJ's provided staff to clear tables and included drinks and coffee service with their regular price. The service was above and beyond what we got quoted from alternate vendors, and the ribs, mac and cheese, and green bean casserole were amazing!
Ralph is such a great guy and you can tell he has pride in his catering busines. Thank god he fired Tiffany, his ex assistant. She was a complete nightmare to deal with and nearly lost them the job. Naddy I think is the name of the new girl and she was wonderfull. The tastings went great and everything seemed clear before the big day. My only complaints about the food would be that first they had promised to pack food for my husband and I to take back to the hotel with us to eat later, that never happened, we hit up whataburger :(. Second the hush puppies were severely over cooked and they served them like that anyways. And third the green beans I ordered were not the ones they served. They made up some bland garlic ones instead of the ones with the sauce I requested. The over all price for everything was very very affordable and I would recommend using them again, only next time be more clear and speak directly to Ralph so that there aren't any mixups. Oh, I have to mention this as well, it was hilarious! One of the staff members delivered the bride and groom plates to the maid of honor (who was wearing purple) and her friend and wished them many congratulations on getting married. They thought it was super funny and we laughed about it a lot. Poor guy probably didn't hear the end of it from the rest of the staff, he was so embarrassed.
I had SO many people tell me it was the best food they had ever had at a wedding. The staff was awesome, Ralph is wonderful, there was nothing that wasn't perfect about our experience with them. And the bacon Mac and cheese... Holy cow. SO pleased, might have been my favorite part of our wedding!
After first tasting CJ's catering at a bridal show I wanted to know more!
Long story short even though their food was amazing and we really liked the head chef and I had weird feeling about the whole thing.
The office manager (I think is her title) met with us on our follow up meeting when the head chef was suppose to be there. She was unprepared and really did not know what she was talking about. Eventually we asked her to go contact the head chef and return when she had all of the information.
After finalizing with her we left. I followed up with e-mails to the head chef and the deposit was paid. After that it took over a week to hear from him.
Once I heard from him I started to feel a little better. I looked over the contract, clarified everything, as did my wedding coordinator.
Day of wedding: we were suppose to eat before we did our grande entrance so that we could visit with our guests while they ate. Cj's was late with the second food order so we were unable to do so. This put a damper on things because even though our event was very intimate we did not get the chance to speak with those who had to leave early.
The wedding part was served but not in the fashion we had requested.
The decorations on my wedding cake were thrown away even though it stated on my contract that they not be.
At the end of the night we were suppose to receive a goodie package to take back with us to the hotel and that was never done either.
Ultimately all the little details were missed and those were what was most important to us.
I really am disappointed in them. I have a lot more to say but I think it should be specifically said to Cj's themselves.
Ralph is an amazing chef and caterer. He met with us originally for a tasting for our wedding and brought out some of his dishes along the lines of what I had requested. My fiancé, who is a picky eater, at every last bit and we decided we wanted everything that he gave us to taste at the wedding. Ralph is awesome and his food is delicious! It had all our guests complimenting it throughout the whole night. So glad we chose CJ's for our catering and we couldn't have asked for a better person to work with us!
Absolutely wonderful. Affordable! Very flexible with great customer service. Very attentive wait staff. Wonderful !
They were very friendly and truly willing to work with me to come up with a great menu within my budget and they were even able to put together a terrific Italian soda bar that I'd wanted. They were also very open to making the wedding more green and we explored options of using more glassware or compostable products instead of disposables. I was a little unsure about CJ's at first because they work out of Mel's Lonestar Lanes bowling alley but after I met with Tracy I knew that CJ's would be a great match for us and they did a terrific job.
