My good friend booked (signed contract and financial deposit) the Clayton Plaza for her wedding and was, of course, deep into planning and was getting excited about hosting her event there. She had even sent out save the dates as she was, reasonably, operating under the assumption that her signed contract would be upheld.
However, 8 months after signing her contract, she was contacted by Clayton Plaza to be informed that the venue had triple-booked her wedding date. She was at first told that this was due to a computer error and that her date would be a “black-out date” for all the three weddings. However, further investigation on her part - as Clayton Plaza did not effectively or consistently communicate - revealed that her booking agent, Jeff, had entered her wedding date for the incorrect year, despite it being correct on her signed contract, causing the error. She also learned that the wedding date would not be a “black-out date” as she was previously told, but that the other two brides would have their date honored.
Reasonably, when this error and the subsequent attempted cover-up was revealed, my friend requested compensation for the emotional distress and ultimate financial complications resulting from needing a new venue, she was told that Clayton Plaza would not give her anything to compensate for their mistake and breach of contract.
This entire ordeal demonstrates incompetence and unprofessionalism on the part of Clayton Plaza and their team. Human error is frustrating but understandable; however, dishonesty and lack of compensation or remorse in response to their error is not. Highly do not recommend booking this venue.
DO NOT BOOK THIS VENUE. 0/5 stars. 10 months out from my wedding, Clayton Plaza called me to let me know that they had accidentally TRIPLE booked my wedding date 9/21/24. I had booked well over a year before my wedding so I was so confused how this happened. Jeff was the contact (I don't believe he works there anymore) but apparently he booked my wedding for the wrong year but he didn't tell me this, his manager did later. He told me I signed the contract the latest so the other brides got their two ballrooms. The manager I spoke to was not sympathetic to my situation at all. Clayton Plaza gave me my deposit back and basically said byeeee. It was a horrific experience and I hope no other brides have to suffer through this.
Clayton Plaza is top notch. Working with Brenda on the reception and Tara with hotel details was so easy. The staff is wonderful and is a beautiful hotel tucked in Clayton. Highly recommend!
We had our wedding ceremony at Clayton Plaza Hotel and it was a great experience. It was a traditional Indian wedding ceremony which was beautiful inside The Crystal Ballroom. Brenda was extremely accommodating to our needs and made sure everything was organized so the ceremony went smoothly. Even with the Covid-19 pandemic everything felt safe and the venue was able to communicate with our vendors easily. We definitely recommend this astonishing venue and the services they provide.
We had our wedding reception in the Grand Ballroom on November 9 and let me just say - it was perfect. I worked with Keyanna and she was wonderful! I planned my wedding in STL while living in SLC, UT and Keyanna made it so easy for me to plan from afar even down to sending videos and photos of the ballroom since I couldn't fly back to see it in person. She was quick to respond to all my questions and on the night of the wedding she and Jamal and the rest of the staff were incredible. Jamal made sure everything went off without a hitch. I loved that they allowed us to include a vegetarian option during dinner to accommodate our guests, too! The ballroom itself was gorgeous and they were very accommodating to getting us into the room early the day before so we could set up without being crunched for time. The location, price, staff and service here cannot be beat. Would recommend to any and all brides and grooms for their wedding reception!
We just had our wedding reception at the Clayton Plaza Hotel and chose it because of its location, price, and other factors. It was fabulous! We chose this venue about a year ago, and Brenda was there every step of the way to help us plan. She is wonderful and was always a phone call away and answered emails within minutes. We live out of state so planning from afar wasn't easy, but the staff here was so accommodating of our schedule when we were able to visit.
We also have to give shout-outs to Jamal and Tara, and who were so helpful in the planning and execution of the reception and the room block for our guests.
Our guests absolutely loved the food, drinks, and atmosphere of the hotel and the Grand Ballroom. At our reception, the staff was so kind and the bartenders were especially wonderful and made the evening magical. The Grand Ballroom has the elegance we hoped for but was still within our price range and was a great size for our wedding of about 150 people. We are so, so glad we chose the Clayton Plaza Hotel. Thank you!!
There is not enough words to use to express how amazing this hotel and staff is. First off the place is BEAUTIFUL and is very spacious!! I had my wedding there last Saturday and with the help of all these amazing people it was the most AMAZING reception! Jamal, Brenda, and Nicole are the most remarkable people who would do anything to help out and make the day whatever you want. They made every last minute detail possible and Jamal made sure there wasn't a worry on the world the day of! Brenda was one of the reason I picked this venue! She is so sweet and down to earth!! Just overall wonderful person! Nicole helped with all our room details and made ever detail possible!! I would HIGHLY suggest using this as your reception spot! You will not be disappointed!!!
We could not have picked a better venue to host our reception! The recent renovations are beautiful. Several guests told us it was the best reception food they have ever had. The staff was extremely attentive in making sure we had a great time and had everything we needed throughout the planning process and the evening of the reception. We are so happy we chose Clayton Plaza Hotel!
We just had our wedding reception here 2 weeks ago, and we could not be happier with our choice! We had our reception in the Grand Ballroom (the smaller ballroom downstairs). We used Clayton Plaza for our reception location, our hotel block, and we had a hospitality room (cocktail hour w/ appetizers) there the Friday night before the big day as a welcome party for our out-of-town guests. Brenda was great to work with as our catering manager. We planned our wedding from afar (we live in LA but my husband and I are both from STL) and she made it so smooth. She was very responsive to all my emails and was happy to go through every little detail. I cannot sing enough praises. I believe we got a lot of bang for our buck also here. The food & beverage minimum here was less than several other places we looked at, I believe we spent less and got an enormous amount of value. All the services we received were top-notch. The food was delicious (we had guests tell us so - unusual since most wedding food is fairly meh, in my opinion). The bartenders and servers were very professional and courteous. If you are having a wedding reception with 100-200 people I highly recommend the Grand Ballroom. The room was beautiful, and a perfect amount of space for our ~140ish guests (even with some extra space - but not awkwardly empty). Also, I loved that the ballroom is essentially a whole separate area with a beautiful staircase from the lobby (and elevator) and it's own restrooms, and it had an outdoor area if anyone wanted to take a smoke break or escape the loud music of the reception. Also, the hotel blocked worked well or us and our guests and the rooms were reasonably priced. Highly, highly recommend!!
I had my wedding reception here last weekend. The Crystal Ballroom was absolutely incredible! The food was fantastic and I'm still receiving compliments. However, the front desk left MUCH to be desired. Thankfully, this didn't have much to do with my reception, aside from the welcome bags (which the front desk mixed up and failed to give to the proper guests, or gave my guests the wrong bag). The front desk staff was usually rude and unhelpful. The staff for the reception and crystal ballroom were wonderful though. Brenda was great and Jamal was excellent. Despite the issues, this hotel is very much worth its value for the space provided. The Crystal Ballroom is absolutely magnificent.
We recently had the privilege of having our wedding reception at the Clayton Plaza Hotel in the Crystal Ballroom. The planning process was made easy by the staff at the hotel specifically Brenda Hinton. She worked with us every step of the way creating the perfect layout for the reception all. The room accommodations were made easy and regulated by Tara. Upon arrival the hotel staff was friendly and inviting to us and our guests.
Let's skip to the night of! The hall was perfectly beautiful! The food was impeccable. And the staff was friendly and accommodating. The Maitre D of the night was wonderful and made us feel so special. I feel so lucky and blessed to have received their services and shared our day at this exquisite location. I highly recommend!
Bonus: The hotel makes for beautiful photos, and the honeymoon suite exceeded expectations!
We held our reception in November of 2017 in the Grand Ballroom, and it was beyond our dreams amazing. Jayne Lashley was a pleasure to work with. She was always quick to respond and was a great resource throughout the process. They renovated the Grand Ballroom in the time in between when I booked and when our wedding was - and it was modern, elegant, and absolutely stunning. The food was excellent and the staff working our reception was friendly and professional. We used the Clayton Plaza for our hotel block as well and it was simple to book with nice, clean rooms. I could not have been any happier with our choice for the Clayton Plaza Hotel for our reception and would highly recommend it.
Beautiful ballroom and extremely helpful staff, the Clayton Plaza Hotel was the perfect venue for our wedding reception.
I am beyond blown away with the Clayton Plaza Hotel! There is not one single thing I would have changed. Working with Brenda made the entire wedding planning incredibly easy, smooth, and stress free. She thought of everything and responded super fast when any questions would arise. I would recommend them to anyone!
I can not say enough wonderful things about this venue! It was absolutely gorgeous. The service was impeccable and everything perfect!
I had multiple guests come up to me and tell me how wonderful everything was and that it was the best reception they had ever been to.
We worked with Brenda Hinton and she was always available for questions and was very accommodating. We had multiple people spend the weekend at the hotel and the rooms were beautiful and clean. The breakfast buffet was also included with the overnight stays and was an added perk after a fun weekend. I would highly recommend this venue!
Beautiful venue and amazing help and organization from Jayne Lashley! Couldn't have been more perfect.
Thanks to the Clayton Plaza Hotel, we were able to give our daughter the wedding of her dreams. We held the reception 10/7/17 in the Crystal Ballroom with about 285 guest in attendance. We worked with Brenda Hinton, and she could not have been more helpful. She was always available to answer any questions we had, and always provided great advice whenever it was requested. I feel that all our special request were fulfilled to perfection. The evening could not have been more perfect. The Crystal Ballroom looked amazing, and the timeline was followed to perfectly. The servers and bartenders were friendly and provided great service. The food was delicious, and served promptly. We also had 23 hotel rooms booked through our room block. Tara was amazingly easy to work with for the room block. The hotel rooms were clean and very spacious. The free breakfast the next morning was a great way to reconnect with guest that stayed and reminisce about the previous evening. We could not be more pleased or selected a better venue than the Clayton Plaza Hotel.
My daughter's wedding reception was in the Grand Ballroom at the Clayton Plaza Hotel last Saturday and let me start off by saying we could not have been more pleased with the entire experience! Brenda Hinton helped us so much with the planning in any way she could. She was always available to us in answering all of our questions in a very timely manner. Every single detail from the beginning of the planning process to the food, servers, catering directors, bartenders was absolutely amazing!! Jamal was our point person that evening if we needed anything, which we did not because he and his staff had everything running so smooth it was perfect! The most difficult part of the process for us was choosing which entree to serve because all of their food tastes fantastic! They were very accommodating by offering vegetarian meals and vegan meals for guests with special dietary needs. The Grand Ballroom, along with the restrooms and entire entertainment space on that level, was just redone this year bringing in the neutral grays that are awesome because they will blend with everything! Many of our guests complimented us on picking such a beautiful venue for the reception. And the breakfast served in the morning at the restaurant is by far, the best breakfast that I have ever had that was included in the price of the hotel room! It is awesome so do not skip the breakfast when you stay here! All of this said, I would HIGHLY recommend the Clayton Plaza Hotel! My daughter's wedding was an overwhelming success!!
Our experience with the Clayton Plaza Hotel was amazing! From start to finish, Jayne was such a huge help making sure that everything was perfect, and was a very calming presence on the few days leading up to the big day. The food was also delicious- hands down best wedding food I've ever had. They were accommodating to anyone with dietary restrictions and when the inevitable happened- something went wrong (no fault of theirs)- they handled it quickly and efficiently , to where it was hardly even a blip on the radar. Jayne and my DJ even worked together and came up with a 'Be Our Guest' entrance for the servers - it was absolutely amazing and something I will always remember with a smile. My wedding was 4 months ago and now that everything has set in, I look back on what an incredible day we had, and Jayne and CPH had a huge part in that.
We had our wedding reception in the Crystal Ballroom and it turned out to be everything I dreamed of and more! CPH and Jayne were so accommodating throughout the whole wedding planning process. We had a guest that was on a strict diet and they were able to make her the only foods she was able to have with only a few days notice. I would highly recommend CPH as a wedding venue to any couple that is looking for a great location, reasonable cost, accommodating and beautiful rooms.
Wow! I cannot say enough wonderful things about Clayton Plaza! We had our wedding reception in the Crystal Ballroom and it was absolutely a dream come true. Brenda was our coordinator and she was fantastic to work with and so helpful! Our guests all had a fantastic time, such a beautiful venue, reasonably priced, and a convenient place for overnight guests to stay. Wonderful!
Clayton Plaza Hotel was the perfect venue for our wedding reception. We fell in love with the Crystal Ballroom as soon as we saw it. It is a gorgeous room with neutral colors that work with any theme. Jayne Lashley gave us the tour and became our contact throughout the whole process. She was extremely helpful and was always there to answer all of our many questions as well as give advice. She truly had our best interest in mind and wanted to make our day perfect. The catering manager, Tarek, and his staff did a great job serving all 350 guests in a timely and entertaining manner. I am still getting compliments about how great the food was. I also worked with Tara McConkey with our room block - she went above and beyond to make sure we got what was needed when the hotel ended up being very booked the weekend of our wedding. Overall, the whole experience was above and beyond what I could have imagined.
while planning my wedding they were great, until I drove an hour in snow to take a tour and they decided to leave and not inform me. still looking into them but hard to imagine how they'll treat us if we book our wedding there.
From the day my husband and I toured the hotel with Jayne Lashley (Catering Sales Manager) we were sold! Let me start off by saying Jayne is a huge part of what made our experience so wonderful! She has been in the business for many years, has an incredible knowledge base, unmatched work ethic, and is personally invested in the success of your event. She organized my reception perfectly and even went above and beyond to re-fold the napkins herself after there was a mix-up with the napkin fold! She had great vendor contacts, always had helpful advice, and was extremely quick to respond to any email I sent. I can’t say enough good things about her! It was also a pleasure to work with the other hotel staff to organize my event. Tarek, the Catering Manager, did a seamless job of organizing his servers and making sure my 200+ guests were served dinner efficiently and professionally. The food was delicious and I received many compliments on the meal and wait staff. Also, Tara McConkey, the Sales Manager who organized my room block, was a pleasure to work with and provided a seamless experience with booking rooms through our personalized reservation link. Every staff member I interacted with during the planning stages of my event and the actual day was friendly, professional, and eager to meet any request. Now onto the actual reception space: The Crystal ballroom is one of the most beautiful ballrooms I’ve seen in St. Louis! Its traditional design, with rich fabrics, neutral color palette, and elegant charm just can’t be matched. We received so many compliments on the space and I love looking back at my pictures because it really was everything I had hoped for and so much more.
The Clayton Plaza Hotel was my first choice from the minute I walked in. The lobby is elegant, the guest rooms are very modern, and the crystal ballroom...just wow. None of that gross stereotypical hotel carpet. And the chandeliers sold my fiancé on the spot. Jayne Lashley was my coordinator and she was amazing from day 1. Even when I had to email with random questions throughout the process, she always made me feel better and answered right away. Can't recommend this place enough for an elegant and memorable wedding venue!
THANK YOU Clayton Plaza Hotel! My sisters wedding was ABSOLUTELY AMAZING and I can not express how happy we all were with your expertise. Mrs. Hinton and the staff was phenomenal and my sister, her husband and the rest of our family could not be any happier with the choice we had made over a year ago. This hotel is very price reasonable and the ballroom is beautiful. We thank you all again for this joyous day you brought to us and now waiting for the next sister to tie the knot.
I would definitely recommend Clayton Plaza Hotel for your wedding day! My husband and I held our September 2016 wedding reception in the Crystal Ballroom on the 7th floor of the hotel, and it was amazing! The food was great too. Brenda and Tara worked with us throughout the entire process, and they were very helpful and accommodating. If you're looking for a ballroom-esque venue with beautiful chandeliers, this is your place! The hotel is also right in the heart of Clayton, which is a perfect place for out-of-town guests to stay. People were raving about the reception venue, and we really enjoyed working with CPH! I would highly recommend holding your wedding reception in the Crystal Ballroom at CPH. We truly loved it, and everything went so smoothly throughout the night.
I had my ceremony and reception at the Clayton Plaza Hotel. My hotel liaison was Jayne Lashley and she was SO helpful!! She recommended certain vendors, but also worked excellently with other vendors we hired! Everything about the day went very smoothly. We communicated almost daily via email or phone and she answered all of my random questions quickly and efficiently. She helped ease a lot of the anxieties around the day! She was very available on the days leading up to the wedding and on the day itself. The venue is gorgeous! We had everything in the Crystal Ballroom which made all the pictures of the day turn out excellently. Hotel staff assisted with changing the room from the ceremony to the reception which was very helpful to my family. Although parking was limited due to construction, my guests were all able to navigate with the help of the hotel staff. All of my guests complimented the rooms, breakfast buffet, and overall quality of the hotel. The food at the reception was delicious and filling! I had no complaints and would absolutely recommend this venue to others looking for a beautiful day!
I had my wedding reception in the Grand Ballroom and it was amazing! From the staff to the service to the food! I wouldn't change a thing!
Our daughter's wedding reception was held in the Grand Ballroom this past weekend and it was an amazing experience! Brenda and all the staff were professional and wonderful to work with. If we had to do it over again we would not hesitate to have our party at the Clayton Plaza Hotel.
I had my wedding in the Grand ballroom this past Saturday and I will tell your u it was perfect! The wait staff was so amazing and nice. The chicken roulade was absolutely amazing! And they did extra things for us that definitely went above and beyond what they had to do! Brenda is awesome! She helped so much with the wedding planning! Everything was more than I ever imagined and I'm so grateful!
I had my wedding reception in the Crystal Ballroom and I would highly recommend this venue to anyone getting married in the St. Louis area. They were so flexible with what my husband and I wanted at the wedding. Jayne, the venue coordinator, was the best and was so thoughtful to myself and my Mom.
We booked one of our room blocks here. Great hotel, great amenities, shuttle services for guests, etc. Katelynn was amazing and super responsive. No complaints. Would highly recommend using them.
Our daughter's wedding reception was Saturday evening at the Clayton Plaza in
the Crystal Ballroom. Rna and Brenda, along with their professional staff, went over and beyond to make our experience absolutely delightful. The ballroom looked amazing, the food was delicious, and everyone working from the waitstaff to the bar attendants, made the evening one to remember. Many thanks to the Clayton Plaza for a spectacular evening!
We had our reception in the Grand Ballroom on 5-16-15. The entire planning process was so easy thanks to my coordinator! Kelly was amazing and answered all of my questions quickly. Our reception was wonderful...our guests enjoyed the food, the wait staff was attentive, and everyone loved the 'be our guest' salad march! I highly recommend this venue!
I had my wedding reception in the Crystal Ballroom on 10/10/15, and it was an amazing night! First of all, Brenda was very nice, experienced, and always easy to work with and get a hold of, especially during the frantic days before the big day. Second, the ballroom is beyond beautiful and has a huge dance floor, which is very important. Lastly, the food and serving staff was great and I received numerous compliments on how delicious it was and how big the portions were. Not one negative thing to say! Great experience!!
We booked our hotel room blocks at the Clayton Plaza, and everything was wonderful! The rooms were very nice, and the large lobby provided our guests with a place to gather. I believe there were 4-5 other wedding blocks that weekend, but the hotel staff was very organized and accommodating! Our guests loved being able to walk to local restaurants and bars, and they seemed to really enjoy their stay!
We had our wedding here on Saturday 10/10/15. Everything was beautiful and exactly what I wanted. Jayne listened to every detail and made my dreams come to life. There was not one thing that was missing, it was perfect! The hotel is so gorgeous and the rooms were very comfortable and accommodating. We are so happy we chose the Crowne Plaza for our wedding!!! Thanks Jayne, you are the best!
I had my wedding at the crowne plaza in the crystal ballroom and it was everything I dreamed of and more! Jayne was so wonderful to work with and anytime I needed her she was right there! The food was amazing and everyone that works there was so nice! I loved how they were able to transform the room to look exactly how I wanted it to look for our big day! I had people coming up to me during our wedding and several days after telling me "this is the nicest wedding I have ever been to!" That to me was such a huge compliment! It was seriously the best day of my life and thanks to the crowne for making it all happen!
I coordinated everything well in advance to make sure we get a suite and rooms around it for my family and friends to get ready the day of the wedding. However, when we arrived at the hotel the day before every room was scattered all over the hotel. I mean what is the purpose of having a room BLOCK if we are all over the place. Very disappointing. We finally got the suite (which I have to say was beautiful) and 3 other rooms on the same floor, but there were still quite some rooms that were on different floors.
My daughters wedding reception was last weekend October 3, 2015 and was nothing short of spectacular! When we visited Crowne Plaza over a year ago we found that it offered everything we were looking for at an affordable price. Brenda Hinton was absolutely incredible to work with! From beginning to end she was available, responsive and very accommodating to our every need. She made sure every last detail was in order. The night of the event could not have gone any better. The room looked amazing, the food was great, and the service was awesome. I would highly recommend Clayton Plaza Hotel!!
Great location, great staff, great food! I had my wedding at the plaza just a few weeks ago and LOVED it. The Crystal Ballroom (upstairs) is amazing in photos (from what I can tell so far) and works well with almost any color pallet. Brenda was amazing from the very beginning in helping us get everything set up and organized for the day of. It was great having someone at the venue that I completely trusted to make sure that everything was being taken care of on the big day. The hotel rooms were also very affordable for guests coming from out of town or those that wanted to really take advantage of the open bar. Overall I couldn’t recommend it more!
My daughter's wedding last Saturday, 9/19/15 in the Crystal Ballroom was spectacular. It was everything she ever dreamed of. The room is magnificent and the food and service were well above excellent. Our coordinator, Brenda, was on top of every last detail and couldn't have been more pleasant to work with. I would recommend this venue to anyone who wants a magical night to remember forever.
The room was incredibly gorgeous (we were in the Crystal Ballroom) with the chandeliers and warm lighting that enhanced our blush/champagne colors. Brenda was amazingly helpful and reachable at all times. She had great advice and was super flexible, which was a huge plus considering we no longer live in St. Louis but were returning to get married there. We customized our table/room layout and it looked amazing thanks to Brenda and the Clayton Plaza staff. The food was delicious and the bar tenders kept our lines short and moving quickly. I could go on and on! We had the perfect day!
Our wedding reception was beyond perfect thanks to Crowne Plaza – Clayton and their staff! The Crystal Ballroom was stunning and I have had numerous guests say it was the most elegant reception that had ever been to and that it was also the best wedding dinner food they have ever had. Jayne was our wedding coordinator and I can’t say enough great things about her! She worked with us every step of the way and always responded to our questions very quickly. Our wedding was on a Saturday and we were lucky enough to be able to go set up our candy table and other décor items the Friday before. This really helped calm my nerves to see it all come together before the big day. The Crowne Plaza even surprised us with a complimentary chocolate fountain during the reception and also kept the bar open for us during dinner! I really can’t explain how amazing of an experience it was to have our reception at such a beautiful venue with exceptional staff. My husband and I highly recommend Crowne Plaza – Clayton to any couple that is looking for a unique, gorgeous venue with great service!
We had a truly unique and beautiful reception at the Crowne Plaza Clayton: my husband and I got married Friday evening, June 12, my sister and her husband got married Sat afternoon the next day, and we had one big reception at the Crowne Plaza because we both loved it so much! (And yes, we were each other's maid/matron of honor too! Crazy fun weekend!)
From my parents' first visit planning my sister's wedding (she got engaged first) to cleaning up after the party, the sales and banquet staff were so helpful and accommodating. Big shout outs to Brenda who helped us with all the planning throughout, her assistant (Katie?), the banquet manager who guided our food tasting and ran a really tight ship the night of, the awesome chef, and their extremely courteous and professional serving staff!
The venue itself is gorgeous as you can see in their photos and from visiting. We had our reception of a little over 200 people in the Grand Ballroom downstairs from the lobby, and it was a perfect size for us. The decor is beautiful and immaculately kept - classic elegance. Our guests could even go out the door in the foyer to the outdoor lounge by the pool to relax or have a smoke. My husband and his groomsmen had celebratory cigars outside!
The hotel staff are just as attentive and courteous as the banquet staff. They graciously booked a honeymoon suite for two nights for us, and another for my sister for Sat night. When we checked in Fri. Night, the desk agent even gave us a complimentary bottle of bubbly! I think room service may have been included in our wedding suite package, but we didn't know and so didn't take advantage. The honeymoon suite was beautiful and spacious! With the obligatory heart- shaped jacuzzi in the room! ;-) I was so thankful they also thought to put a good sturdy hook high on the window wall for my dress since i needed to keep it fresh to wear the next day. ( like i said...crazy!) speaking of window wall, i vaguely remember having a gorgeous view of downtown Clayton from the entire wall of windows, tho we didn't really look at it on the wedding night. ;-)
We and our parents gotten so many gushing compliments from guests who had an absolute blast! The food is amazing - they have vegetarian, children's and even gluten-free meals! It was a tough decision after the tasting. I recall the bartenders being very good ( strong but not too strong drinks), and yet again top notch in service and friendliness - one told me to enjoy the best day of my life! I did! The dance floor was never empty, thanks in large part to our awesome band to be praised in another review.
I can't recommend Crowne Plaza enough!
We fell in love with the Crystal Ballroom on sight, and the love continued to grow as we worked with the staff of the Crowne Plaza to achieve a FANTASTIC wedding and reception. Brenda Hinton is a joy to work with as she provided guidance, advice, and made sure every detail was executed perfectly. The transition from wedding ceremony to cocktail hour in the Crystal Foyer to reception was achieved seamlessly - many guests couldn’t believe they were in the same space for the wedding and reception. The white glove, butler passed hors d’oeuvres were delicious and abundant. The bars never seemed to have a line. Brenda even arranged for the wedding party to have a platter of hors d’oeuvres available right after photographs so they had a chance to try them before mingling with the guests at the cocktail hour. When the doors to the Crystal Ballroom opened, the room was STUNNING! Our guests absolutely loved the salad march. Dinner was delicious and exceeded my expectations; we heard many rave reviews. The dance floor is large, and the party never stopped until the last song. I’d also like to add that Tara was great to work with on the room block and our hotel guests were so happy with the friendliness of all the staff, the convenience of parking, their rooms, and the quality of the breakfast. We are so grateful to all the Crowne Plaza staff and Brenda especially, and they have our deepest thanks. I don’t think we heard the word “no,” just a vision and solutions for achieving the wedding of our dreams.
The staff is very courteous! Brides are offered a variety of packages and given explicit pricing for each option. White glove service is standard, and an open bar is very reasonably priced. By the way, the dinner food is delicious! The tasting to select dinner was one of my favorite memories of wedding planning! Furthermore, both ballrooms are gorgeous! It was difficult to choose which ballroom we wanted for our reception, but Brenda, the wedding coordinator, was very helpful in weighing the specific nuances of our reception (e.g., a band vs. a DJ, how many guests, etc.) to help us make a choice. We absolutely loved our reception at the Crowne Plaza, and we would not have had it at any other venue!
WONDERFUL VENUE AT A WONDERFUL PRICE!
We had my daughter’s wedding reception at the Clayton Crowne Plaza and we could not be more pleased! For starters, the hotel is beautiful. We loved the Grand Ballroom because it is on a lower level which makes it much more private than ballrooms in other hotels. There is a foyer for guests who want to step out of the ballroom and the bathrooms are just a few steps away.
The staff was efficient and courteous. We had exceptional service during dinner. Even the guests who stayed at the hotel all commented on the helpful staff.
The food was delicious! Our guests raved about the Chicken Marsala and the vegetarian lasagna. The staff was very accommodating with the different meals that we ordered: vegetarian, gluten-free, and child.
The most astounding part is that the wedding reception exceeded our expectations and was very competitively priced! When we began looking for a venue, I was limiting my search to hotels in the West County area. I was shocked to discover the prices at the Clayton Crowne Plaza. I took the prices to my favorite West County hotel and tried to negotiate. The sales manager finally told me she could not match the price and did not know how the Crowne Plaza was able to offer a wedding package at that price. Decision made!
I would HIGHLY recommend the Clayton Crowne Plaza! My daughter’s wedding reception was an overwhelming success!
We just had our two daughters' combined wedding reception at the Crowne Plaza in Clayton and it was absolutely a dream-come-true event! The wedding coordinator there is Brenda Hinton, and she is nothing short of amazing. She makes sure every last detail is taken care of in the way you want it. We had our event in the Grand Ballroom and it's gorgeous! The food is delicious and the wait staff is fast and accurate; they made sure all our guests who were gluten-free or vegetarian got their correct choice. If you want an elegant, Cinderella ball with no worries or stress, I HIGHLY recommend you call the Crowne Plaza. The price is fabulous, too, so you won't break the bank giving your family and friends an evening to remember. Their guest rooms are beautiful, too. I'm just thrilled we chose the Crowne Plaza in Clayton for this extremely important event in our lives.
I got there saturday night and the room smelled like male body odor. I was in the honeymoon suite and I wanted it to be perfect. We went downstairs and told the receptionist about it, viola, she moved us next door to the other honeymoon suite. It was cozy and romantic!
What a gorgeous location for our wedding reception! We were in the Crystal Ballroom upstairs and could not have been happier with how things worked out. First of all, Brenda the coordinator was superb. She has years of experience under her belt and met every request we made. She always responded promptly to our emails and call with our dozens of questions and clarifications. She was very easy to talk to, and truly wanted the day to be perfect for the bride and groom. We had many out of town guests and the hotel was extremely accommodating to book a hospitality room for the night prior. Also, the hotel rooms are beautiful and they made sure we had plenty in our block, even when we had to call and request more rooms in our block. The food was delicious and I highly recommend the salad march if you are a Disney fan! It surprised everyone. The reception room had plenty of room for all our guests. No one was crowded and the dance floor was one of the larger ones we have seen. The service was incredible: from the white glove appetizer hour to the packing and preserving of our top layer and cake cutters. We received so many compliments about the room and the food and the dancing. I have only positive things to say about Brenda and the Crowne Plaza Clayton. I wouldn't have gone anywhere else for our special day. They made all our wedding reception dreams come true.
I really enjoyed working with the Crowne Plaza staff. They were very accommodating and understanding of our budget. They also offered alternatives that would work for us. The rooms were clean and the complimentary breakfast was amazing! It's the best complimentary breakfast I've ever seen/had and my family loved it.
I would absolutely recommend the Crowne Plaza Hotel - Clayton for anyone's wedding reception venue! My wedding was in the Crystal Ballroom and Brenda was my coordinator. I admit, I was bridezilla in the beginning, but I could not have asked for a more perfect wedding reception. The reception was everything I had envisioned. I used their chair covers and bows, and they tied the room together beautifully! The staff was amazing! Every time I had a concern, it would be answered within minutes to a favorable outcome. Brenda took care of all my worries the week of the wedding, I was actually able to let go of control and give everything to her. She had my table numbers, escort cards, picture table, etc. exactly where I wanted them. She truly took all the stress I had as a bride away. I didn't use a wedding planner because Brenda took such good care of everything. The food was fantastic, my coworker told me it was the best wedding food he had ever eaten. I have had nothing but positive feedback from my guests regarding the wedding reception. I would not have changed anything! My wedding at the Crowne was a fairy tale wedding! PERFECT!
I just had my reception at this venue last month. Unfortunately many things occurred during my experience that were unsettling. The coordinator whom which I signed my contract with ended up leaving and I was appointed someone new. That was fine. I did not have contact with the new coordinator until about 2 months before the wedding to set up the tasting. Also not a huge deal because i am sure there were many weddings before mine. The tasting went well and we loved the food. I had to have a special menu for myself and a few other guests due to allergies. The tastings can only happen on 2 days a week, during the work week, during their lunch hour at the hotel which is hard if you work too. On the day of the wedding, the food was not satisfactory. I had to send MY OWN plate back because it was not what we discussed and it did not taste anything like what I had tasted. And my photographers never got served and had to go find a waiter to serve them. This held up my cake cutting an dances. Prior to my event, 2 weeks before when my menu was due it was brought to my attention that our contracts did not match for our minimum spending amount. Turns out someone at Crowne had FORGED the top page of my contract and added over $3000.00 to my minimum spending allowance. We only could prove this because the top page is computer generated with the date and that date was 10 days after my original signature. It was also initialed in BLUE ink and my original was Black. As you can imagine that was very upsetting. And although the coordinator was "nice" about it, she did say it has happened several other times this year!!! that alone should make you worry about booking. On top of that, the coordinator (manager) told me she "didn't have an eye" to help set up centerpieces. (3 vases with a floating candle) So I had to go set up myself and tear down everything myself. I just thought that a place where I am spending as much money as it costs to buy a new car, they would be a little more adequate. Not to mention, I had lottery tickets as my party favors that were thrown away before half the people scratched them off and some were winners that were thrown away. And the waters were taken off of every single table by 9:15 when my reception did not end until 11. It was not until about 3 weeks before the wedding that I actually got called or emailed back with a question I had sent. I didn't know about catering meetings so I could not even attend mine I had to send my MIL and the time was not set for that meeting until the DAY OF the meeting! I felt like this venue put a lot of extra stress on me for this event. Yes it is beautiful and Yes we had a good time with good booze, but that was pretty much due to me and my friends/family. If you are thinking of this venue, Please keep looking. There are plenty of beautiful places out there. Also, Our hotel room was very old as the "suite". It was not cozy or cheery at all. My guests had trouble booking their rooms. I never write reviews but people deserve to know what they are getting into. I am sure I am missing something here, but I think you get the idea of how unhappy I was. My vendors were even unhappy trying to schedule their set ups also. I'm sorry I had to write this... :( I am only giving this a 2 because the room was BEAUTIFUL and the bell service workers were VERY helpful in our set up and tear down.
The Crowne plaza hotel is over the top with their service, accommodations, value and professionalism. Five star!!!
All of their employees from top management to house keeping were
Polite, professional and very accommodating. The longevity of their staff proves they care.
Special thanks to Brenda who was so pleasant to work with.
I would strongly recommend The Crowne plaza for events.
This hotel seemed experienced with groups for weddings, and they were organized with our gift bags and even let our guests check in early.
This was our first of three daughters to get married. We were a little nervous, but Brenda Hinton and Clayton Crowne Plaza was amazing. Everything from the caterer, venue, personnel, hotel rooms, service, etc. was absolutely perfect. I would highly recommend them. Great job!
St. Louis and surrounding area brides- do yourself (and your family & friends) a favor and have your wedding at the Crowne Plaza in Clayton. I promise you that there is absolutely no venue that can offer the value that the CP offers. We got married one month ago today, and our family and friends are still raving! The food was excellent, the ambiance and atmosphere was breathtaking, the service was fantastic and all of our guests that stayed at the hotel were so impressed with the accommodations that several of them said they would book the CP for their next trip to St. Louis. But, brides, here's the reason why I say that you should book the CP as fast as you can- Brenda Hinton is the most fantastic wedding coordinator ever. She worked with us to make sure that our wedding was exactly as we envisioned. She took care of every question we had, and made us feel at ease during the entire process. I cannot say enough about the Crowne Plaza, and I speak for our entire bridal party, family and friends: thank you guys for making our day a dream come true!!!!
Let me start by saying Brenda was great to work with! Very available and responsive. But there were some things on the actual day that were out of her control. During the reception, the crummy stairs leading to our head table hadn't been locked in correctly and collapsed as one of my bridesmaids was walking up them. She got pretty hurt. They cut and serve your cake for you, which is nice, however they took it upon themselves to squirt chocolate on every slice. I personally hate chocolate and felt it ruined my cake. I was very upset. If I wanted them to add stuff to my cake, I would have requested it. The venue however, looked nice, especially by adding chair covers and bows. I was in the grand ballroom and it fit my wedding of 100 nicely. I felt the staff switched my ceremony to reception very quickly, which was great for my guests. I had a good experience overall. The cake though, which I was so excited about was ruined. And when you spend so much money on something just to have someone ruin it, at least in your eyes, is pretty disappointing. The bridal suite was also a joke. The room was large, but it had a huge forest green heart shaped jacuzzi in it, which despite the color would have been nice, except the jets were broken.
