When I started planning my November 2024 wedding, I did not budget for a wedding coordinator and intended to do everything on my own or with the help of family. Despite not having ...a bridal party, and being an only child, I was confident that being a perfectionist and over achiever would be enough (spoiler: it was not).
As a full time teacher and part time college instructor, I vastly underestimated how stressful it would be to plan a wedding while working 10-12 hours a day, even with the help of my fiance. I was also trying to please everyone around me which was an exercise in futility. (Side note for brides who are self aware people pleasers and overachievers: You will NEVER make everyone happy but you will CERTAINLY make yourself miserable in the process of trying. Write this on a post it and stick it to your mirror.) I include all of this to say that during a time that should have been happy, I was more miserable than ever. By the time I contacted Kaitlyn, I was physically ill from the anxiety and pressure.
From the moment we spoke on the phone, however, everything changed. Kaitlyn truly made me feel like my fiance and I had someone in our corner. She listened to ALL of my ridiculous questions and concerns, she offered advice for navigating difficult family dynamics, and she was an incredible sounding board for my ideas. She was completely accessible and responsive from beginning to end and I appreciated her “down to business” style. As a teacher, the color coded timeline she made was the stuff of dreams and she did an incredible job coordinating with my vendors before and on the day of my wedding.
On the day of my wedding, seeing Kaitlyn was such a sigh of relief. But I only saw her briefly because she spent the rest of the day setting up the reception hall and ceremony to absolute perfection. It was like she saw the exact vision in my brain and made it a reality.
I keep telling people that my wedding day was “perfect” and that nothing went wrong - and I’m 100% sure that’s only because of Kaitlyn. If there were any issues with vendors, my guests, the venue etc., I never heard a whisper of it. Everything and everyone was where they needed to be, when they needed to be there.
She even helped take care of my dog, Emma. We stayed in a cabin on site but Kaitlyn offered to take her out and check on her so that my fiance and I didn’t have to go back and forth during the reception. She also brought Emma to the ceremony space so that we could take pictures with her and brought her back before the guests arrived. I’m sure Kaitlyn didn’t plan on taking care of a chihuahua with no teeth that day but I am forever grateful that she did. It was just one more thing she took off of my plate that I didn’t even know I needed.
Please do yourself (and your partner) a favor and hire her. I was spoiled by many of my vendors but Kaitlyn was exceptional. She is incredibly smart and knowledgable, completely unflappable, and a lovely human to work with. When she left during the height of our reception, I teared up and my mother (who doesn’t like anyone) ran after her to thank her for everything….if that’s any indication of what it was like to work with her.
As someone who didn’t have an endless budget to work with, hiring Kaitlyn was hands down one of the best investments I made. Whether you hire her to plan your entire wedding (I wish I had) or as your day of coordinator (I’m so glad I did), her services worth every single penny and more.
