The women here were absolutely lovely! They listened to what kind of vision I had, the fitting room was huge and they gave me plenty of privacy to change. They gave me a variety of different styles to try on and made me feel confident in my decision. I would for sure recommend them for getting your dress
My experience shopping for "the one" was very pleasant with this store! My wedding was 10/2/21 so we went dress shopping New Years weekend 2021. My consultant did encourage me to try something outside of the box and I did oblige but for the areas of my body I am most insecure about it was not going to work. The dress was super flattering but of course I was fixating on that one area! I ended up going with a strapless dress which we had straps put onto so that I was held in. I am extremely busty for my proportion and the seamstress made it work so well for me. We went through a whole process with choosing the perfect straps and matching them right up with the dress. We were able to order them at the second fitting. By my final fitting my family was so excited and I was so pleased with how my dress turned out, fit me, everything!!! Thank you ladies for a lovely experience! :)
I had a fine buying experience here although my consultant is no longer there. I loved my dress until I decided to listen to my consultant/owner and use their seamstress. RUN FAR AWAY from their seamstress Teressa. She absolutely ruined my $2000+ dress. She cut the length too short, did the wrong type of bustle that ruined my train with a million stitch marks and ties, and not one but both of my dress straps broke the night of my wedding (and my bust was too loose so I couldn’t hold it up without straps) !!! She rushed me through every fitting and was more concerned about prom dresses than my wedding dress. I called and told the seamstress and all she offered was half of my alteration charge back (for a dress that she ruined) which was already way over priced compared to other places. The shop owner didn’t care at all even though it was her recommendation. Owner and seamstress are incredibly rude and it’s so sad to think that everything on my wedding was perfect besides my dress.
Cocoa Couture is a great place to buy a wedding gown. Page was my consultant and helped me choose the perfect one. She nailed what I wanted exactly (even better than I hoped)! But she also helped me make sure that there wasn't another dress that I might like more by encouraging me to try different styles too.
The store has a nice selection of many styles. There are also separate rooms to try on the dresses. This was very nice since I had to go dress shopping in the winter of 2020. Page and the rest of the staff were very accommodating on keeping everyone safe.
The follow-through between when the dress was ordered and when it arrived was nice as well. There were no delays or anything like that. The other consultants also helped me with accessories on later visits. They were also so helpful and friendly.
I would definitely recommend visiting Cocoa Couture for your wedding dress.
I am so incredibly disappointed and upset with how I was treated at this bridal salon. The experience started out very positive as we began choosing dresses to try on. I felt like my consultant listened well to what I was looking for and really did a wonderful job helping me in my search. However, once I said I had selected a dress that’s where the great experience ended. The seamstress came in to show how she’d bustle the dress (only because my mom asked) and she acted like she couldn’t be bothered. She was so incredibly RUDE!! Huffing and saying “oh my god ugh that train no you’re not going to have a lot of options. I mean it’s going to be tough and it might not look like you want.” EXCUSE ME!?! I just picked my dream dress and THIS is how you’re acting? I almost told them forget it. But I thought maybe she is busy and having a bad day because the consultant mentioned multiple times I didn’t have to use her for my alterations. Oh I won’t be! Once they knew they had the sale they stopped treating us with respect.
When we got to the register the consultant told us we owed almost $2,000. My mom and I were shocked … not because we weren’t aware of the price of the dress, we knew that. We were shocked at being charged full price at the time of placing the order. Every single salon I have gone to tells you at the time of ordering you owe a deposit and then when the dress comes in you owe the balance. This woman didn’t ever mention that so we thought maybe their policy is different. She also neglected to mention their no returns, exchanges or refunds policy until AFTER we had paid!! I am so upset - not because I think I’ll change my mind…I won’t I love the dress. But because when I re-read the contract it is 100% not their policy to charge you full price upfront. My mom had to put this on a credit card and she is beyond stressed that she doesn’t have the money right now. This isn’t a small purchase it was a very large one. I am so utterly disappointed and feel like we were totally tricked.
Also, my paperwork is incorrect! My name is misspelled in my email address, the have the wrong wedding date, and my address is wrong. Now I’m worried other things are in their system incorrectly. I am waiting for someone to call me back to hopefully correct some of these issues. Would not recommend!
I had a lovely experience with Cocoa Couture. My shopping experience my intimate and personalized. I knew I wanted an A-line dress and there were so many options to choose from. I found the dress of my dreams in my first shopping trip :)
Also, my wedding had been postponed three times due to the pandemic and their partnering seamstress, Theresa, kept my dress safe for 18 months while we waited for our day to finally arrive.
I can’t even give them a one star was the most horrible experience! First they didn’t even know my daughter the brides name when we arrived even had an appointment. Then the lighting is horrible like office lights. Threw us right into a room without even walking into place. The window was wide open so anyone walking by could see in. The dresses were horrible not even ironed lots of wrinkles and a ripped what the heck! Then another lady came in and tried picking us dresses which looked like an older
Lady would wear. So we were happy we went so we knew we had found the perfect dress somewhere else that was much more professional!! Really steam your dresses!!
Cocoa Couture SAVED my wedding! After buying a dress at another salon that came in damaged TWICE, I could no longer trust that I would be able to order it again and have it arrive in time for alterations prior to my wedding (due to COVID causing shipping delays). With three months to go before the wedding, I was able to find my DREAM dress at CC. Everyone was so welcoming and helpful, and the seamstress (Theresa) was very timely with my alterations. She even made me a face mask out of the extra fabric from my dress!
I loved the selection here so much that we purchased my wedding dress, the mother of the bride outfit, and the bridesmaid dresses from this shop!
Initially I found Cocoa Couture from attending a bridal show where they offered me 10% off my dress if I booked an appointment at the show and ended up purchasing a dress. While I live in York and the drive to Hershey is about 45 minutes away, I liked the idea of trying a dress shop that was not a major retailer and that was different from others my friends had visited.
The shop is clean and laid out very nicely to separate those shopping from prom, from brides, from bridesmaids, and from mother of the bride/groom. My consultant's name was Lauren and she was so sweet and kind from the moment we entered. She listened very well to what I wanted and the price point that we had been willing to spend. At no point did she deviate and try to place me in a dress that I did not feel comfortable in wearing, nor did I ever feel rushed. She empowered me to try on dresses and was willing to allow me to try some of them on again as I made my final choice (a Maggie Sottero), pairing it beautifully with a veil. She was the perfect person to help me in my bridal shopping that day and conveniently was our same consultant when my three bridesmaids selected their dress as well!
Bridesmaid dresses... I'm a sucker for Hayley Paige and this salon had an excellent selection of her dresses in stock! Due to the type of fabric and the burgundy color of the dresses, they were tough to match to the exact tie/tux colors for the groomsmen, as it was no where near an apple red or a purple wine color to match right. The shop completely understood my desire for appropriate matching for tuxes and even our flowers and contacted the Hayley Paige shop for an extra large swatch (at no extra cost) of the exact material and color so we could replicate it for other items in the wedding!
Mother of the Bride... My mom is not a dress wearing individual, and was able to find a gorgeous Ursula 3 piece dressy outfit complete with pants, a thick strap lacey tank, and a long sleeve lace jacket overlay. She looked radiant, received a ton of compliments, and felt comfortable the whole day. Needless to say, she already has plans to wear it again!
Something that every reader should know is Cocoa Couture's alteration policy. If you purchase a dress/outfit from their store and desire alterations, it is encouraged that you use their seamstress. If you take the dress out of the store and have it altered and something happens, you have no way to bring the item back. However if something happens under the care of their seamstress, you have some ability to have the item replaced. With that being said, their seamstress Theresa is wonderful! She works well with crazy schedules and is available on weekends and evenings for alterations. The only pain is that I had to drive to Hershey every time I went for a fitting (remember the 45 minute drive each way?). Plan on wedding dress alterations costing around $400 to start for basic hem and bustle, and you will need to pay her in cash or check as she is separately contracted through Cocoa Couture.
All in all, I was happy I made the decision I did! I had a beautiful dress and would go back there again for a formal event dress.
I had a blast shopping for a wedding dress at Cocoa Couture. My consultant, Julie, was very sweet and knowledgeable. She stayed late to make sure that I was able to try on every dress that I thought I might like. They had a nice selection of dresses and every member of the staff was very friendly. I ended up choosing a gown elsewhere, but would highly recommend shopping at Cocoa Couture because I had such a positive experience!!
Absolutely loved my experience with this Bridal shop. They were very respectful of my budget and the look that I was going for. They had the style of the particular dress I wished to try, but not the color. They were kind enough to bring in a sample of the dress I wanted into the store to make sure it was exactly what I wanted! Thank you Janine! I can’t wait for my wedding day.
Absolutely so happy I found my wedding gown at Cocoa Couture! The staff and the owner were so friendly and attentive during my first appointment. They really listened to the style and look I described and helped me find the PERFECT dress. They also helped my mom find her mother of the bride dress. Both appointments were fun and my mother and I felt beautiful and were so happy with the service. I also cannot say enough good things about their seamstress! She made my dress fit like a glove and her work was second to none! Cocoa Couture was a bit of a drive for me to return to pick up my dress, but the service and support from the staff made it totally worth it!
Cocoa Couture was wonderful to work with! From the selection of gowns by the designer I wanted, to the bridal assistant, to the alterations and the fantastic Janine who made things happen, I couldn’t be happier!
We also purchased all of our bridesmaids dresses and rented the groom/groomsmen tuxes from Cocoa Couture. Our entire bridal party looked amazing!
There was an issue at first with my dress being stuck in a shipment, but they worked so hard to get it delivered in time for us to be able to do the alterations I wanted. I was so happy with my dress! It was perfect! Everyone loved it!
Found my dream dress here! They also had a great selection of accessories. I purchased wonderful shoes, earrings and the most beautiful headpiece here, as well. My mother found a wonderful dress, too & they made us both feel special.
Cocoa Couture had such a great variety of dresses! I asked for a simple, yet elegant dress and they worked with me to create the perfect dress! I will say it is a little pricey, but completely worth it to feel amazing on my wedding day.
Beautiful dresses and knowledgeable staff. I was very pleased with my experience here. I used their in-house alterations person. She was a little pricey but did a great job and did it fast.
Cocoa Couture is a one-stop shop for couples looking for great customer service and selection. I had picked out one of my gowns there, and we also used their rental service for the groom and groomsmen's tuxes. I ordered my gown and all accessories there, and the staff was sure to call me the minute any piece arrived. Everything was absolutely stunning. The seamstress that is contracted with the shop is so careful and really takes the time to make sure your dress fits perfectly and you are 100% happy with it. I would definitely recommend this shop to everyone shopping for bridal, bridesmaids, mothers, and tuxes!
They team at Cocoa Couture was amazing! We not only bought my daughter's wedding dress, veil, and hair comb. We went back for the bridesmaids, two flower girl, mother of the bride, and grandmother of the bride dresses. The staff was friendly, professional, and helpful from beginning to the end. Everyone looked beautiful the day of the wedding!
Very good, great service. Very expensive.
My experience at Cocoa Couture was just so-so. The consultant that I was working with was very helpful and suggestive, however I felt the selection was lacking. With a budget of $2000, I'm looking for a simple, elegant, Sheath bridal gown, however most dresses at the salon were Ball Gown style with lots of bling. If this is your style, it may be a better experience for you.
We were an inconvenience the minute we walked through the door. Every question we had was answered with sarcasm... No one cared to ask who the Mother of the Bride was. No offer of any beverages was made. While my daughter was in the dressing room, an employee stood there with her arms crossed staring at us as if we were going to grab a dress off the rack an run out the door. For a blissful day, they sure did make us feel like a bother. Nothing special about it.
I was told about this dress shop right after I got engaged, and I am so happy I went to check it out! I walked in and was not only greeted by the wonderful smell of Hershey's chocolate, but also by the very delightful staff! No time was waisted in helping me find my dress! With me was my mother and step daughter, and they treated my step daughter like a princess and let her have some fun trying on dresses and posing! The woman who helped me sat and talked with me about what my likes and dislikes were and wrote everything down! Then we went dress hunting! In minutes we had quite a few dresses picked, all different kinds just so i could see what i looked like in different styles and determine what i liked the most! After style was narrowed down, she helped me pick out a few more, still taking about my likes in every day life. Within in 10 minutes of looking she noticed something, i had a glittery/shimmery eyeshadow on. She asked if i liked glitter...anyone who knows me knows the answer. I responded in excitement with "I Loooove glitter!" She immediately went to a beautiful Sophia Tolli dress! Strapless, corset back full A line dress with a sweetheart neckline! Gorgeous details in beading on the front and back of dress and a layer of subtle glitter in the skirt! My step daughter loved it, Mom was unsure and at first it felt too simple. So i kept searching and trying on more, but i kept going back to that dress. After trying it on 2 more times, i turned to my mom and she was crying, shaking her head yes. I knew this was my dress, but i had to ask my 3 year old what she thought! So i asked, as she was hiding under the train, she peaked out and said i had to get it because it sparkled and it was a princess dress. So i said "Yes!" to my dress that day thanks to her, my mom and all the help at Cocoa Couture! I HIGHLY recommend! They definitely know how to make a bride feel amazing!
As an older bride, I elected to shop in the bridesmaid collection. The options were more suited to a second wedding. The staff was very helpful in suggesting options for my style.
This bridal shop was the first place I went to. The women who assisted me listened to everything I had to say, and knew exactly what I was looking for. She did take me out of my comfort zone with some dresses but it was nice to see what did and did not work for me. The dress I fell in love with was the third dress I tried on. There was no need for me to look any further. I cannot wait to wear this dress.
I had the most wonderful experience in buying and fitting my wedding dress at Cocoa Couture. On the day that I picked out my dress, the staff members made me truly feel special. This was greatly appreciated because I only brought my mom along with me; no additional entourage accompaniment. Nevertheless, several staff members came out to observe my final decision and it felt like I had an entourage there; even though I had only just met these people. Ask for Lula the Tailor; she is amazing. The only reason that I gave them four stars for service is because the woman who initially helped me select my dress left the company before my wedding day. I would have wanted her to see me through to the end. The only reason I gave them four stars for value is because their dresses are a bit expensive. I would not go to this shop on a tight budget. Their dresses are gorgeous and that alone will make it difficult to stay within your budget. Lastly, I have heard others express that they have had unpleasant experiences here. I strongly recommend making an appointment before you arrive to peruse the inventory. It seems that the negative stories that I hear only come from brides who just show up on a whim.
I ha a wonderful experience with Cocoa Couture. I found my wedding dress and my bridesmaids dresses at this shop. Because I purchased my dress there, my bridesmaids got 10% off of their dresses. We shopped for our dresses during the height of prom season. The shop was packed with highschool girls, but the consultants were very attentive and helpful. The atmosphere was classy and comfortable. Our dresses arrived in a very reasonable amount of time.
One word of caution- DO NOT use the seamstress at this shop (Teresa). I'm not sure if she is an independent contractor or if she was employed by the Cocoa couture. Nevertheless, she was rude, and ridiculously overpriced. She didn't even take the time to properly lace up my gown before she began pinning my dress for alterations. After having paid a considerable amount for my dram dress, i didnt appreciate feeling rushed with trying it on for the first time. The seamstress had quoted $250 for my bustle and to sew in cups. I ended up getting those alterations elsewhere for $50.
Let me start by saying that my search for the perfect dress wasn't intense. I worked at Cocoa Couture before I got married and knew what I was looking for. I didn't end up with the dress that was ordered on loan for me to try on, but I ended up with something better. Jill, and the rest of the shop, was there to help me through the entire process. I made the dress unique by purchasing an applique from a different designer than my gown designer and made an out of this world belt. My head piece was wonderful and so different from anything else I've ever seen. Once you buy a dress from them, they are there throughout the entire process.
My experience choosing my wedding dress was excellent. The staff is very helpful and listened to my style preferences and price range. I did have some difficulty with my bridesmaids dresses in terms of the shop ordering the dress on time, however, this was resolved with expediting the dress.
Very helped and attentive to my needs!
My sister and I came down to meet with them for some dress options. I asked them to stay in a price range and they continuously showed me dressed well above my intended price. I also told them I was very interested in ruffles, but kept getting dressed that weren't ruffled as well. I understand this was something they do to help either confirm your original plans or change your mind, but I found it annoying. I was also confused on why my dress was order two sizes larger, having the seamstress take the dress in largely in certain areas. I was also very upset with how I was talked on the phone. I called several times to handle the payment of the dress and to ask questions about an accessory that was being located for me. I was told the phone operator was "too busy" to look for me and as me "to come in" to have things checked. When I did come in for my fittings and mentioned this, the other workers just laughed. I wasn't very happy with the service but the dress was great. The seamstress that worked with me there was, however, fantastic and did great alterations for both me and two of my sisters with the wedding.
I purchased my wedding dress and ended up renting all the grooms and groomsmen's tuxedos (well actually suits) at Cocoa Couture, and they were very easy to work with. They were very helpful the whole time, helped me find the dress of my dreams, and perfect suits! They were very accomodating when it came to making appointments and scheduling fittings right in their store. Also, they were great in getting 12 guys fitted for their suits, and reordering sizes if a piece didn't fit correctly. I would recommend looking for your dress there!
great experience with the shop owner, work of art dress by designer daniel thompson
I got my wedding gown and veil from cocoa couture. I absolutely love my dress. The only thing I didn't like was that when the next appointment came in I WAS RUSHED OUT! They didn't offer my any accessories except the veil. I went and got my headpiece, shoes, bra, and slip from a different vendor.
We purchased my wedding gown, bridesmaid dresses, groom and groomsmen attire all from Cocoa Couture. The staff is very friendly and really made an effort to get to know myself, my husband and our wedding party.
I absolutely loved my dress! I never wanted to take it off once I had it on! The selection of dresses at Cocoa Couture was great. There weren't too many where it overwhelmed you, but there were just enough to find exactly what you were looking for.
They also have so many different options for bridesmaid dresses. My girls looked beautiful in their dresses and the groomsmen looked very handsome in their suits! Josh was able to help us perfectly match their ties to the bridesmaid dresses.
The only issue we had was a bridesmaid dress wasn't ordered. However, the issue was taken care of quickly and the dress arrived in plenty of time!
If I could, I would give my experience there 0 stars. The consultant did not appear to be very knowledgeable about the dresses and pressed us to buy something. I felt like she didn't listen to the styles that I was looking for and instead, brought me numerous dresses I did not care for. She didn't ask to see any of the images I'd brought along with me. The only dress I liked was one I'd seen on another bride and asked to try on. Not a pleasant experience, not a wide variety of dresses.
From the day I walked into Cocoa Couture-they have been nothing but over the top with their quality and service and kindness.
I was lucky enough to meet Daniel Thompson the day of my appointment and he and Jill knew what I wanted when I didn't even know what I wanted! Danile custom designed a gorgeous gown for me that was the wedding dress of my dreams! It truly was gorgeous!!! In addition, my husband and all of his groomsmen got their tuxedos through Cocoa Couture and Josh was such a wonderful help! I would not go anywhere else! What a great staff and service!
We bought my mother's dress here. They also helped me find a tailor for my own dress.
i absolutely loved my dress it was amazing ... The only down fall was the pricing for the alterations was crazy...
After trying dresses on at other area boutiques and a couple in NYC I can truly say that Cocoa Couture was such a pleasant experience. They really listened and thought about the type of dresses I had in mind and what feel I was going for overall for my wedding. While my dress was over budget, they worked it out so I could purchase the barely worn floor sample. It worked out perfectly.
I loved my dress, and the staff is super friendly. They let you keep your dress there until the day of the wedding and they steam it for you too. However, they were closed the day of my wedding, and if I hadn't asked them, I would've been dress-less on my wedding day! When my mom picked up my dress, it was still crinkled in the bottom of the bag and definitely not recently steamed. The hook and eye on my dress also ripped right off right as I was about to walk down to the ceremony. My grandma had to sew it back on before I walked down the aisle! I gave them 4 stars because they were great up until that point!
The staff was very friendly and great about staying in my budget. My dress was beautiful and everything i could ask for.
I got my dress from Fileen's Basement Running of the Brides (on a side note - it was such a blast for my bridesmaids and myself, I highly suggest going). I needed very little alteration other than about an inch taken in around the chest and the zipper reinforced. Cocoa Couture was fantastic in helping me get accessories such as jewelry and my veil. The tailoring was also well done, however, by the end of the night a part of the boning on the side of my dress (where a few alterations were made) had ripped through and was extremely painful. For that, I do not fault Cocoa Couture, but instead the dress -- but I would have appreciated a bit more reinforcement in that area.
From the first day I went to pick out my dress to my final fitting I had an amazing experience with Cocoa Couture. I got married in May and did not go to look for dresses until late January. I orderd a dress in February, they rushed it and everything work out perfectly. Their sales staff, the front desk as well as the alterations are wonderful!
The staff was amazing to work with, quick, efficient, capable, smart and friendly. I worked with Daniel Thompson, a designer who visits the shop monthly and it was a breeze to get exactly what I wanted.
Unfortunately, I don't remember the name of the consultant who helped me, but she was great. I had a definite idea of what I wanted (including a picture of the dress I was looking for). Cocoa Couture didn't have the dress, but my consultant knew they had something similar. She sent me and my posse into the dress room to pull dresses, and went off on a search. 15 minutes later, she came back with the dress she had been looking for. She was so excited that she found it, she put it on me first. It was perfect. Stupidly, I didn't just stop there and buy the dress on the spot, but I did call back that night and made the purchase. The fittings/alterations after the purchase all went smoothly, as well. It's obvious that Cocoa Couture loves being a dress shop!
My experience with Cocoa Couture would be mixed. I think they are great, but you should be prepared for what you're getting into. The name Cocoa Couture made me think of somewhere very fancy and upscale. They have beautiful gowns, but they also have a dog and a baby around much of the time. So though the dresses were beautiful, the atmosphere was different than I expected.
I would strongly suggest going at an "off" time. I went on a Thursday afternoon during the winter, and I was the only one in the salon for the majority of my appointment. All of the attention was on my mom and me. At times, I had my consultant, two others, and the owner all talking with me about my decision. So it was very personalized and helpful. When I finally bought my dress, which was PERFECT, and came back for my fittings, I was there on a Saturday and got a much different feel. It just was busier and you could tell the focus was not just on one bride. So try to pick an "off" time to go.
I did have some issues with ordering my jewelry. I think they didn't understand our original order, so they told me that one piece was ordered, and it just happened to not come in on time. Luckily I had ordered early enough that I could wait another month or so. But besides that, they were great with getting the things that I wanted.
I would suggest Cocoa Couture overall, just be nice if there are issues, and they are more than helpful.
Great dresses, great service, and great atmosphere...what more could you ask for when shopping for your bridal gown? The employees at Cocoa Couture went above and beyond when helping me find the perfect dress!
Cocoa Couture has the most amazing selection of wedding dresses I've seen. I walked in -- and felt like I was in heaven. The consultants ask you what you're looking for and bring you gowns according to your style and budget. It was a perfect experience for my mother and I. In fact, she also bought her gown there. Alterations were painless and I truly had my dream dress experience at Cocoa Couture. If you're looking for something unique and absolutely stunning, this is the absolutely best.
I felt that the seamstress that I used was great! She was really friendly and helpful. However she's not employed by Cocoa Couture. I felt as though I was a bother to them. Nothing was special about me looking for gowns in their shop. They didn't even have me look for gowns with an associate, they had a seamstress look with me. Even though I had an appointment! They tried to push their in house designer on me, and although I would have loved to have him make me a gown...It was way out of my price range and I felt that my budget would have been laughed at. I knew they sold dresses in my budget because of friends who have gotten gowns from their. So I was really shocked that they were reluctant to show me other gowns. I would have appreciated that they ask me in a nice manner what my budget was in private. NOT in front of the designer! He waws almost triple what I could afford. I finally found a sample dress that fit perfect and looked beautiful...I of course bought it because it was perfect. They have beautiful gowns...that I was impressed with...once they started showing me other gowns. I was annoyed that they didn't have more plus size sample sizes. They had a few bigger sizes and then a bunch of size 16's. I really was upset with the customer service from here on out with them. I ordered my other accessories here and they were so irresponsible with calling me back and helping me further with these issues. The young man that works there at the front desk was awful at first...you can tell he's a family member of the companies owner. After a while the staff became more friendly with me, after they saw me all the time for fittings. I had ordered my headpiece and viel from there and when I called to see if it was there they told me no...then I called two days later and they said it had been there for a week! I wouldn't have been too upset but I was getting very close to our wedding day at this point!
I loved my gown..it was of great qaulity...they need to practise better customer service though. They have a couple really nice people there...but the bad ones really sour everything!
My dress was perfect. They took time to listen to what I wanted. Very efficient.
