The Inside Scoop
FROM THE KNOT EDITORS
The First Look
Cody Creek Weddings in Dobson, North Carolina, redefines the idea of a rustic wedding. The venues are filled with the touches of natural wood and stone you expect and long for, but also have touches of elegance and style thanks to beautiful arches and rich granite flooring. It's easy to fall in love with its combination of warm architectural details and outdoor splendor. Think intimate and spacious at the same time.
The Wedding Chapel is all about wood. From finished floors to exposed beam ceilings, this venue is filled with a golden ambience ideal for exchanging vows. In the center of the room, a large stained-glass window and ceremonial arch draws attention to the bride and groom. This spot makes an incredible backdrop for your wedding pictures. Its wood pews can hold 100 guests.
The Daytime Gazebo works well for ceremonies or chic outdoor receptions. Stone arches, hanging plants, rows of trees and lush greenery surround the entire space, creating a picturesque background for any wedding event. A wood shake roof adds a hint of tradition. It has a capacity of 200 people for a seated dinner and dancing.
Cody Creek Banquet Hall is the largest venue at Cody Creek Weddings—it can hold 240 for a sit-down meal and dancing—and one of the most popular. There's no reason to decide exclusively on an indoor or outdoor celebration with this space, since it combines the best of both worlds. It has an exterior courtyard with rustic fire pits and a stacked-stone fountain. Trimmed trees and mosaic tables provide art and natural elements. Inside, the banquet hall is filled to the brim with granite and light wood. A second-floor loft gives you a great place for first look photos of the bride and groom.
Gazebo by the Pond is breathtaking. With dark granite flooring and touches of wrought iron, stone arches and a manicured lawn with plants and trees everywhere, it's hard to resist its charm. Add in a pristine lake view—and all the amazing photography possibilities it provides—and you have a great spot for your ideal outdoor ceremony or reception. Its capacity is 200 seated.
The Depot Banquet Hall offers the same attractive ambience as the other venues, but with a slightly smaller fit. That makes it ideal for guest lists of around 150 people. Depending on your plans, it can hold the ceremony, reception and dancing under the same room.
The Club House is all warmth and tradition. It has a beautiful wood balcony, a fireplace, antler chandeliers and comfy leather chairs. With room for 50, it's the place to go for an intimate reception, rehearsal dinner or as a private spot for the bridal party to unwind.
What You Should Know
Because Cody Creek Weddings has so many venues to choose from, it's really easy to mix and match to create the wedding that's just right for you. You can have your ceremony at one spot, the reception somewhere else and even dance at one of the picturesque gazebos. It's up to you. The on-site restaurant handles all your catering and reviews say the food is great.
One thing you need to keep in mind is that several brides recommended always contacting the owners by phone to get a response the fastest. Also, many venues are not available for afternoon or evening weddings. Events held at The Depot Banquet Hall, The Wedding Chapel and Daytime Gazebo all must be concluded—and clean—by 3 p.m. The other venues have a four-hour rental. No rice, bird seed or silly string is allowed in front of the restaurant.
One of the things that makes Cody Creek Weddings unique—besides the gorgeous venues—are the log cabins that are available for honeymoons or just to have the bridal suite stay on site. Each cabin has a heart-shaped tub, a king size bed with a rustic log frame, a kitchenette, cable TV and a complimentary bottle of wine. And no matter what venue you choose, all chairs and tables are included and set up for you.

Well Molly you must be a very special lady and i'm happy for you! Sounds like you had the kind of experience you would expect on your special day and that we were hoping for. My daughter just got married there and i have to agree with the previous reviewer. although this is a very nice venue the owners not so much. When we all toured the venue to determine if it was "the one" we were met by the Husband. i say the Husband because there was never an introduction of any kind and I only knew the wife as Kathy. "The husband", still don't know his name showed us around and was extremely nice. as father of the bride i wanted to make sure everything was going to be perfect. While we were planning the Wedding with over a year to do so, Kathy was very distant and difficult to reach. i was only given the restarant number to contact her and if it wasn't open she wasn't answering. the day of the wedding the owners had a very nasty attitude telling us that certain area's were off limits , areas her husband had told us were included during our tour. I guess the ole bait and switch. They would not help arrange the tables and chairs in the reception hall or lift a finger to help. we actually never saw them until the end of the night and time to settle up the bill. We made the best of it with two very good families working hard to make it special for our children. I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND THIS VENUE TO ANYONE AND HAVE NO INTENTIONS OF EVER GOING BACK. As a parent you want the best for your childrens Wedding Day. Not knowing where things were stored and no help from the owners made it very difficult for the families trying to make sure everything was set up and went off without a hitch. Stay away!!!! Steve
Although we have stayed here before and referred several friends and family members...we will never stay here again or refer anyone else! Last night we had dinner and rented a cabin, only to encounter a severe storm which knocked out the power to the entire property. We were left in complete darkness (and if you've been here, you know that's pitch black and scary). The restaurant has a back up generator, however, the cabins do not. We did not have a flashlight or a candle, and they do not have any emergency numbers to call. After sitting in the dark for an hour and a half, no one ever came to check on us or offer us a candle or light. We tried calling the restaurant and emailing from our phones (which were dying) with NO response from either. We decided to leave and drive home, as this "romantic" evening was now a scary disaster! We couldn't shower, use the tub, watch television, etc. so this was a wasted stay! We emailed again as we left, advising the Snow's of this unfortunate situation, assuming they would either refund a portion of our stay, or even offer a rain check for a future stay...We had to call back the next morning because they did not respond to our emails or phone messages. Mrs. Snow's response to our ruined birthday celebration: "We can't control the weather"!!!. REALLY??? You run "HOSPITALITY" business yet you leave your "guests" literally IN THE DARK. After explaining everything to Mrs. Snow (the owner) she simply said "sorry". No, Mrs. Snow...I feel sorry for your you that you run a hospitality business yet you obviously don't care about your guests! You will never receive another dollar from us, our friends or family. DON'T WASTE YOUR MONEY AT THIS PLACE!!!
BEST VENUE EVER!Reviewed on 10/08/2014 Molly B
This is the best venue you can ever imagine and MORE! When my husband and I begin our quest for the perfect venue we found this jewel in Dobson, North Carolina. We wanted a place that made us feel like home. Pictures do not do Cody Creek justice, its one of those places you have to see to believe. We got married here September 20th, 2014 and I can honestly say it was the best day of my life. The owners are amazing and will help you any way the possibly can. I cant even begin to count how many compliments I have received in regards to how beautiful our venue was. Cody Creek made my fairytale possible and I thank them from the bottom of my heart~ Molly
