My husband and I had wonderful opportunity to host our wedding at the Columbus Museum of Art this past spring and I can truly say that it exceeded all of our expectations.
From the moment we toured the space, we knew that it was the perfect venue for us. We welcomed guests into the Sculpture Garden for an outdoor ceremony and cocktail hour then held our reception in the Schottenstein Pavilion.
The staff made our experience exceptional from the moment we toured the space through our wedding day. Bianca could not have been easier to work with and was on top of every detail throughout the planning process.
We highly recommend the CMA catering led by Executive Chef, Laura Richmond. The endless menu options and private tasting made it so easy to select a menu we knew our guests would love.
On the day of our wedding, Bianca and the catering staff were stationed in the Schokko Cafe immediately following our ceremony, presenting us with the selection of hors d’oeuvre. It was such a nice touch and thoughtful gesture to allow us a brief moment and a bite to eat before returning to our guests.
The combination of a stunning venue, the dedicated staff, and seamless execution made our wedding feel like an absolute dream. If you’re looking for a wedding venue in Columbus, we cannot recommend the Columbus Museum of Art enough.
Great planning and accommodation of a complex cultural event, venue was stunning and guest experience outstanding
Our wedding at the museum was an absolute dream. I cannot speak highly enough of the entire space - we had our ceremony in the Edwards Court, cocktail hour out in the sculpture garden, and finally the reception in the pavilion. Each room was the perfect space for the flow of the evening, and each one uniquely beautiful. Ceremony in the Edwards Court was by far a highlight - truly breathtaking and serene place to be married.
Prior to booking the museum, I truthfully wasn't impressed with the pavilion and almost didn't chose the museum because I thought the space was too white and too big - I was completely wrong. The room is absolutely stunning at dinner time with the light streaming through the windows. It was the perfect size (not too big, not too small) for our wedding of 175 guests. The band sound was incredible in the room adding to the beauty! I think this is the perfect space to hold a reception.
Finally, the museum staff was wonderful. We worked with a couple different coordinators throughout our process, who were all attentive and thoughtful to our needs. Also, Chef Laura is a star - she accommodated every request we had and knocked the food out of the park. We served only pescatarian food at our wedding and she made some incredible dishes. We received so many compliments on it. Would highly recommend going with the museum catering!
Only downsides for us were our original coordinator was not fully organized and made a few mistakes with our process. After she was replaced, we had a few last minute (very large) charges come in. However, the new coordinator worked VERY closely with us and made some concessions to make our overall quote closer to what we had been quoted when we booked them. Secondly, for being such an upscale venue, I will say there were a few things lacking - the provided chairs are not suitable for a wedding and they didn't have linens for their own bars, so we ended up renting both. There are additional charges for any lighting, ceiling fixtures, or adjustments of their current set up of tables and chairs. You essentially just get the museum as is. Which is gorgeous, but be aware that you may end up paying more for things that are included at other venues. Finally, AV was just ok - our officiant mic didn't work during our ceremony or cocktail hour, which was incredibly disappointing.
If this all sounds great to you - do not hesitate to book the museum. I cannot imagine doing my wedding at another place, it is truly the most beautiful location in Columbus. Large enough to explore, but small enough to feel very intimate. Our guests loved exploring the galleries during cocktail hour as well. I mention our downsides so that you may make an educated decision, but overall, our upsides FAR outweigh the downsides. We will love the museum forever!!
Any questions?
Our wedding at the museum was beautiful! So many different spaces with different vibes, and we loved having the galleries open for people who wanted some space to wander. Our coordinator, Bianca, worked diligently to connect with all of our vendors and make sure our wedding day ran smoothly. We had a great time and are so excited to be able to still visit our wedding space in the future!
COMA was the perfect setting for our wedding ceremony and we are so happy with our experience there. Bianca and team were extremely helpful and made sure our event went smoothly. The setting was beautiful and our guest enjoyed walking around the museum after the ceremony.
Alyx Bean + co are a dynamite team. Alyx stepped in as our coordinator later in the game and made sure we thought of every last detail in planning our wedding day. She always kept us up to date and was communicative not only with us but our vendors. On the day of our wedding, we were blown away by the service and kindness by every single CMA event staff - they were punctual, flexible, and so friendly. ALSO - Chef Laura Richmond is crazy talented and so many guests complimented the meal afterwards. Thank you CMA for making our day a total dream.

Seeing this made my day!!! You were awesome to work with start to finish and I am SO glad everything came together for an awesome night. Passing your kind words on to Chef and the team -- hope to cross paths again in the future! xoxo - Alyx
PS...
your photos coming through this week are STUNNING. Sheesh, girl!
The Columbus Museum of Art is a one-of-a-kind, beautiful, incredible venue! First of all, our wedding coordinator, Katy, was extremely helpful and made our vision come to life. She was responsive, organized, and supportive throughout the process. We also had lots of help from Olivia, who was awesome as well! All of the staff truly went above and beyond to make our day perfect, solve hiccups that came up along the way, and bring everything together for us. We had our ceremony in the courtyard outside, the cocktail hour in Derby Court, and the reception in the Pavilion space. Everything was STUNNING, and we got so many compliments about how beautiful and unique it was. You don't need a ton of decorations because it's already a beautiful space. Our guests loved being able to walk around and take in the art during downtimes. We used the museum's catering, and the food was delicious! I can't imagine having our wedding anywhere else.
Wow! We had both our ceremony and reception this winter at CME’s Derby Court, and we could not have asked for a better venue—from our wonderful event coordinator, Mark Harrison, to the fantastic event staff. Mark and his team were extremely easy to work with throughout the entire planning process. They were responsive, accommodating, and made sure that our wedding day ran smoothly from start to finish. They gladly answered all of our questions and were attentive to every day-of detail. We are so impressed with the CME team’s work, and would highly recommend this venue to anyone looking to have a beautiful wedding night.
We had our ~50 person wedding ceremony at CMoA in the Derby Court, and it was absolutely perfect! The team was great, especially Heather who we worked closely with in coordinating things before the wedding and on the day of. We had very minimal decorations because the space itself is so gorgeous! We had a few hors d'oeuvres after the ceremony, and they were absolutely delicious - the culinary team there is exceptional. We can't imagine how our CMoA wedding experience could have gone better, highly recommend!
We had our ceremony, cocktail hour, and reception at the Columbus Museum of Art, and it was a dream come true! They were so understanding and accommodating when we had to postpone due to covid, and our planner Alyx did an amazing job coordinating and organizing everything. The venue is absolutely beautiful, we had so many guests compliment the Derby Court room and how great of a setting it was for the ceremony with the glass ceiling. We also got some very beautiful photos inside the museum as well as on the front steps. I loved the versatility of having the ceremony in Derby Court, the cocktail hour outside in the Sculpture Garden, and the reception room in the Schottenstein Pavilion room. Felt like we had 3 different venues but was super convenient to have everything in one spot. We did have to do several food tastings in order to get the dinner menu the way we wanted it, but it turned out great in the end. Definitely recommend this venue if you are looking for a unique and beautiful setting downtown!
CMA was an absolutely breathtaking venue and it did not disappoint on the day of. We were one of the many postponed weddings that they were managing and our coordinator, Elle, helped us through it the entire way with an incredible amount of grace. We consistently felt so grateful to have chosen CMA as our venue once the pandemic hit due to how incredibly understanding and responsive they were. There were so many things that they went out of their way to accomodate us on, when they didn't have to. We worked with Elle and the CMA Events staff for almost two full years, so while there were a few hiccups here and there, they always made up for it in other ways. And at the end of the day we were very happy with our choice.
We cannot say enough good things about the Columbus Museum of Art. We were one of those COVID weddings that kept postponing, and we are SO grateful to have had such a reliable and considerate venue supporting us through all the many changes. Never once did they give us a hard time. They went above and beyond to try to accommodate anything we asked of them during such an uncertain time. Their team was responsive, and worked as problem solvers for any strange request we threw their way. A lot of our guests came in from out of town, so it was really special to be able to bring them to a place that was not only a beautiful venue for a wedding, but also an interesting space to explore! And with so many beautiful spaces in the museum, we were able to get creative with different arrangements for the Ceremony / Reception, and were able to make any last minute weather decisions day of if needed. The ease of having so many options space wise really relieved a lot of potentially stressful situations. And did I mention how beautiful it is?! It really was the wedding of our dreams.
We had an exceptional experience having our wedding at the Columbus Museum of Art. We were planning a wedding during the heart of the pandemic and the venue was more than willing to work with us, allowing us to postpone our one year anniversary celebration exactly one year later. Seeing as though we got married during the pandemic, Elle did an amazing job supporting us and reproducing our original vision. She kept us updated throughout the ever changing covid restrictions/updates, was organized, and followed through on our questions/concerns. She was always willing to meet with us, contact our vendors, and look into new ideas. The food was phenomenal and the chef recreated a salad for us that we loved from another restaurant. The venue is unique with how many rooms/locations can be utilized. We highly recommend reserving the whole museum so that guests have a unique experience and can tour the museum throughout the event. Our vow renewal was nothing short of perfect and if given the chance we do it all over again at this venue!
Cannot say enough about our experience at CMoA with Ellie as our coordinator. Planning a wedding in a pandemic was stressful to say the least, but Ellie made it as easy as possible. She had multiple contingency plans ready in the event of any possible covid-related policy and had stellar advice for us throughout the process. The night ended up being absolutely beautiful and seamless. Highly recommend!
The Columbus Museum of Art is one of the best venues in Columbus. As a wedding photographer, Seth and I have experienced many great venues. The service you receive at The Columbus Museum of Art puts it on another caliber. The food is tremendous, the staff is so kind and the grounds make for exceptional photos. We also have photographed ceremonies at the Art Museum. These ceremonies are so special and have a truly romantic feel.
We had our wedding their October 2019 and it was everything we dreamed of! We had our ceremony in the sculpture garden, cocktail hour in derby court and the reception in the pavilion. To be completely honest, we almost did not proceed with this venue due to terrible communication with the CMA staff in the very beginning, however, new staff was hired and we put in the hands of Alyx who was amazing, very responsive, easy to work with and helped make our day perfect! Overall, it’s a beautiful venue, a little pricey, but would definitely recommend to others in the future.
I'm so happy we chose the CMA for our wedding venue. It is such a gorgeous and unique setting (we had the cocktail hour in the sculpture garden and our reception in Derby Court). Our guests loved exploring the galleries after dinner and the photos we've received thus far are stunning. Kristal is a boss. She took care of everything, and even thought to bring us a couple cocktails before my husband and I made our entrance into the reception. Much needed :) Everything went so smoothly. We're very grateful!
The venue is absolutely beautiful and Alyx was amazing at helping our wedding. She’s our day of coordinator but did so much beyond that. She was always quick in responding and addressed each and every one my questions (and there were A LOT of them) which was such a huge relief for a bride! Definitely recommend this venue and staff here.

Hejia - Wow! Thank you for this amazing review! Your wedding was beautiful and we think Alyx is amazing too :)
The Museum of Art is a GORGEOUS setting for a wedding. We selected it because of the beauty of the various settings within the museum and the ability to take pictures inside (winter wedding!). The wedding ceremony was in Derby Court, the cocktail hour in the downstairs lobby, and the reception in the pavilion. We still stand by our decision but do want to be clear to other couples that arriving to the wedding was a struggle. We did not always hear back from our wedding coordinator unless I called or sent repeated emails. There were errors on the venue sheet that included the seating capacity. We were told that our caterer was not allowed to use the oven, then later we were told that we could rent use of them. It was like two steps forward and then three steps back and constantly this back and forth over whether something could be done or could not be done. This was exhausting and frustrating to me and did not speak of professionalism. HOWEVER, everything day of went off perfectly, the pictures are stunning, and people loved the venue. So, if you're willing to be patient and fight through the odds, it's an amazing place to get married.
I am so glad we chose the museum for our wedding! The place is beautiful and we have amazing pictures! It was perfect for a winter wedding! Kathleen and her staff took care of everything so I didn't have to worry at all, and she was so nice and accommodating. We aren't even particularly into art, but the venue was stunning and was definitely a memorable place to have a classic, elegant wedding that we will always remember!
The Columbus Museum of Art was a stunning and beautiful location for our ceremony! Kathleen and the rest of the CMA staff were incredibly helpful with the upfront and day of planning/coordinating!
We did not realized until right before the wedding that parking was free for wedding guests which was really nice.
The bridal suites were convenient for hanging out before hand (a little tight for large parties to get ready in - but not that big of a deal).
Our whole day felt absolutely perfect, especially the ceremony at CMA!
I would definitely recommend CMA for and event - the venue and staff are excellent!
Fantastic venue! Susan, Kathleen, and the docents who helped day-of were endlessly helpful and accommodating of our wishes and desires. The space is gorgeous. You're able to take photographs amongst an outstanding art collection, and the building itself is architecturally interesting in photographs. Note that they have strict rules about no lights on the artwork, but our photographs have turned out beautiful nonetheless, so I don't see this as a problem at all. Pricing was clear up-front and extremely reasonable. (Granted, our wedding was tiny and we got married in one of the galleries, rather than in the regular event spaces, so I can't speak to those prices.) All in all, I absolutely recommend. We could not have had a better experience. I even got weak from hunger during photographs, and they brought me a snack. Very kind and accommodating!
Our wedding at the Museum was amazing! The setting was beautiful and Kathleen was very easy to work with. She coordinated all of our vendors so that we didn't have anything to worry about, and she ensured that our ceremony ran smoothly. All of the staff was very professional. It turned out more beautifully than we were imagining. Highly recommended!
Our guests can't stop commenting about how beautiful Derby Court was for the day of our wedding!
We were drawn to the museum as it was one of the few handicap-accessible, non-denominational options for a ceremony that we could find in Columbus. We loved the blend of modern and traditional that the room had to offer, and with the glass roof it even offered an "outdoor" feeling without the risk of rain or need for a back-up plan. (While it didn't rain on our wedding day, there was rain in the forecast for the two weeks leading up to it!)
Just a couple of items prevent me from giving the venue five stars. First, our coordinator mis-scheduled our details appointment for an evening when there were several other events going on. Due to a miscommunication with the staff at the main desk (they didn't realize there were two employees with the same first name and didn't ask for a last name) so I waited 20-30 minutes for the wrong person. When they tracked down the coordinator, she had not fully prepared for the meeting due to the other events, so it seemed a bit hurried/rushed.
Second, another thing that had drawn us to the museum -- the grand exit we could make on the front stairs -- was inhibited due to construction that we were not informed of when we signed the contract. When we asked if a financial consideration could be made we were told it was a city project and out of the Museum's control. Ultimately, enough progress had been made by the time of the wedding that the chain-link fences had been taken down and, while we were still forced to exit out the more modern main entrance, we were able to take photos with the wedding party on the front stairs.
We did pay more for the museum than I had ever anticipated paying for a ceremony venue, but it was worth it for the beautiful photos and memories.
We did our ceremony here and it was beautiful. The glass ceiling gave us plenty of natural light and the guests loved it. We got some amazing pictures from the ceremony and right after with the families and the bridal party. The staff was helpful and knowledgeable as well.
HAVE YOUR WEDDING HERE! I had my wedding on Memorial Weekend 2015 and it went fantastic. Katie is a fantastic coordinator and just made my day so great. She helped handle all of the vendors and coordinate arrival times so I didn't need to.
The venue has a great little room you can get ready in and the photo ops, OMG there are TONS. We had both the ceremony and reception there and didn't need to go anywhere but down the steps for photos.
We also had Mikey's Late Night Slice on site at the end of the nice and a guitarist playing so it was fun for our guests to be able to hang out under the stars and enjoy a snack.
I had 160 guests and it was comfortable, I didn't want to move any tables to open up a dance floor. But if you have more that is an option.
The Darby Court is BEAUTIFUL! Plus your guests can explore the museum throughout the entire event.
When my fiancé (now husband) and I were searching for a ceremony location, we wanted to find something that would fit our vintage, classic theme, and the Columbus Museum of Art perfectly fit our vision in every way! He is an artist, and owns his own art business, and so this venue was absolutely perfect for us! From the moment we met Katie Laux, who was our event coordinator, we knew we were in good hands! I absolutely LOVE her!! She is such a wonderful and fantastic person, and that truly shows in her work!! She always responded to my emails within hours, and helped us bring our dream ceremony to life! Our ceremony was in the Derby Court, and it would not have been more beautiful. The sky lighting was the best part – the sun shone through on us throughout the ceremony! Our guests could not stop talking about how beautiful the ceremony was. Katie’s motto for the entire weekend (both rehearsal and ceremony) was “You don’t have to think, I do the thinking for you” and it could not have been more true! She was so organized and orchestrated everything for us, between the set up and flow of the rehearsal, organizing the readers, helping out our officiant in any way, and helping our photographer orchestrate my fiancé and I giving each other gifts prior to the ceremony without seeing each other! I cannot say ENOUGH good things about Katie and the Columbus Museum of Art! I would highly recommend this venue to anyone planning a wedding!! It was truly our dream wedding!
Absolutely STUNNING venue to get married in!!! We fell in love with the museum the moment we saw it. It doesn't hold as many people as we originally had planned for, but we were able to narrow down our guest list, and it was worth it! My husband and I hosted both our wedding ceremony and reception at the museum.
Katie Laux is fantastic to work with and really took my vision and made it a reality. We got married in June, and since you never know what the weather will be like, we went for an indoor space. I love the glass ceiling, though, because during our ceremony we almost felt like were were outside with the sunshine and blue sky above. The space is already so beautiful that you do not need to go crazy with flowers and decor. The Chahuly art piece in the main room adds an amazing pop of color and was the perfect backdrop for family photos. (It was also nice that our guests were allowed to browse the galleries during cocktail hour and during the reception if they were not big into dancing.)
I would recommend this place to EVERYONE who wants a classic, elegant, and fun wedding!!!! Best night of my life.
The Columbus Museum of Art not only provided a gorgeous and unique backdrop for our wedding but also was the perfect solution for my husband and I (I am Catholic, he is not)! Our ceremony was held in Derby Court and the beauty and grace of the room, combined with the glass ceiling and abundance of natural lighting gave us exactly what we were looking for! You have freedom and creative with your decor (we had a few floral arrangements and a heritage/unity candle table) and the room seats 215. Katie Laux, our coordinator at the museum was an absolute pleasure to work with, from being prompt and efficient with our meetings and my (countless :)) emails to have champagne waiting for us in the bridal room the morning of the wedding! Not to mention the stunning pictures our photographers were able to capture!!! It was an absolute dream location!!! Holly P.
Our wedding was at the museum on May 25th. It was absolutely stunning! Katie and her team are amazing! Not only was everything set up exactly as I wanted, but they handle all of the details and coordinate the events of the entire evening! It was completely stress free! The catering was absolutely delicious too...wishing I could relive that day!!
My husband and I cannot say enough positive things about our wedding/reception experience at the Columbus Museum of Art. Everything from the staff, to the food, and the venue turned out to be absolutely perfect.
We had always envisioned having an outdoor wedding, but were nervous about the weather risks associated with an outdoor wedding. We set out looking for a compromise; an indoor space with an outdoor feel. From the time we toured the museum, we knew it was the perfect venue for our ceremony, cocktail hour, and reception. The Derby Court is an absolutely beautiful space with lots of natural light, beautiful art and it even provides the option of having some vegetation in the form of large potted trees, to give it an outdoor/nature-like feel. In addition, our wedding guests were able to enjoy the beautiful architectural details of the building, the art exhibits, and an interactive art room where kids can go spend some time if they need a break from wedding/reception events.
My husband and I worked directly with Eliza Marlow during the planning process. Eliza was kind, organized, patient, and had an impressive memory when it came to the details of our wedding (this is amazing considering she has multiple weddings to coordinate and execute each weekend). Eliza made herself available to us anytime we had a question or needed to meet to work out details and provided great advice whenever we were unsure of any details. I can honestly say she made the process as easy as it can possibly be.
On the day of the wedding, Eliza and her staff worked behind the scenes to set up, the ceremony, cocktail hour, and reception. They even flipped the ceremony to reception room in a timely manner, while leaving us time to take picture in the room at the request of our photographer. Eliza worked the entire day to keep us on our timeline so things kept moving, but without making us or our guests feel rushed. This proved to be an important duty as it is easy to lose all track of time on your wedding day.
Eliza and her staff did a wonderful job creating the perfect day for us. Many of our guests said it was the most beautiful wedding they had ever attended, complimented the food, the venue, and even the servers and bartenders who were professional, and friendly to the extent that they seemed happy to be a part of our event.
I would highly recommend considering the Columbus Museum of Art as the venue for a wedding, or any other important event.

Our reception at the Columbus Museum of Art was beautiful. Derby Court is such an elegant setting there is no need to purchase accessories for decorating and it looks gorgeous at night with the glass ceiling. The staff went above and beyond to make our day amazing. From answering our 100 questions during the prior 6 months, to allowing us to drop off all of the wedding day accessories the day before, to setting up the reception room the day of the wedding to tearing down that night. It was all done for us so we could enjoy our day. Thanks so much Katie and Team!!
Top notch, the wedding was beautiful and we were very happy with the event!
I was the bride and I can only think of good things to say. Not only was the location itself amazing, the room was bright and beautiful but the coordinator Katie and the staff were wonderful. I didn't worry about anything because Katie coordinated everything for me. She made sure all the other vendors were at the wedding on time and everything was set up like we had wanted. There was nothing that I could recall that didn't go correctly. The other nice thing about getting married at the museum is you can always go back and visit the art and remember the special day. I highly recommend this Venue.
The Art Museum was amazing. Our guest loved being able to tour the museum! Eliza-the coordinator- did a fantastic job. She took care of everything. This is not your standard wedding food. It was amazing. Everyone said the chicken, salmon and pasta entrees were delicious! The recpetion room is so stunning you barely need any decoration!
This is the place you want to get married if you want to really impress your guests! There was no added decor needed because the art surrounding you and it gives a unique entertainment option for your guest during cocktail hour!
My husband and I chose the museum for our wedding because we liked the light and airy outside feel of their main event space while still having the piece of mind that comes with an indoor air-conditioned venue. We had full use of the museum and their outdoor spaces, and they went out of their way to make sure we had everything we could possibly need the whole day. We used the in-house caterer as well and dinner ran like a dream- people keep asking us if they have a restaurant anywhere.
Amazing experience - Eliza Freeman is an amazing planner/coordinator, so definitely ask for her if you can. Easy to work with and super professional. Derby Court was such a beautiful location for both our ceremony and reception! Our guests loved it, and so did we. They also did the catering and the food was so delicious! They had no problems providing special meals for our vegan guest & our guests with food allergies. All of the staff was wonderful, kind and accommodating.
While CMA is on the more expensive side, I thought they were worth every penny.
Ceremony and cocktail were outside in the sculpture garden. Guests never had to relocate. After cocktails the guests moved into the museum for dinner and dancing. Perfect all in one venue.;Expensive. The little things add up quickly. The stairs for elderly family members is a challange...especially to the bathrooms.
