Our high school band put down a deposit for a cruise on their band trip to CA. Due to Covid and everything being shut down, they were not allowed to go. This company refuses to give the money back. These are kids that worked very hard to raise this money. This company has disgusting business practices!!!! Curious if they not only took advantage of kids, but also got Covid relief money??
Commodore truly went above and beyond!
Commodore helped us create our dream wedding. The team at Commodore were always available and were a pleasure to work with. Can't thank them enough.
I was so impressed with Commodore Cruises! We planned a San Francisco City Hall wedding and were unsure of where to have our reception. After doing a google search I found Commodore Cruises. Because we were having a wedding on a Monday and our guest list was small the price was incredibly reasonable considering other venues I contacted. We ended up having our reception on the Merlot boat. Our person of contact was Brenda and she was amazing. We live in Sacramento so most of our interactions were via email. She was always quick to respond and was very attentive. She worked with me for the drop off of all decor and set up the boat exactly how I envisioned it. We were not able to make any of the meet the fleet events so we hadn't tasted the food or cake prior to our event, I was a bit nervous about that but there was no need to be. The food was amazing! Our menu featured the chicken and filet. It was delicious and there was plenty of food. Our guests did not go hungry. The cake was delicious and decorated just how i asked. The staff on board was so helpful and attentive to me and all of our guests. We hit some rough water and they made sure we were comfortable and even went a different direction to miss the waves. DJ Dan was great! He read the crowd very well and had us dancing the whole time. My entire experience with Commodore Cruises was great! I would highly recommend them to friends and family. It was such a unique and fun experience. I have done dinner cruises before but never a party or wedding event and I have to say it was the best time I've had. The boat was very clean and staff was very organized. I honestly could not find one thing bad to say about Commodore Cruise. They made our wedding reception a very memorable one to say the least.
Best wedding venue ever. Everyone had so much fun. We highly recommend Commodore Cruises!
I debated whether or not to write a review since overall we had a nice reception and I didn’t want to focus on the negative things that went wrong. But since Commodore is posting pics of my daughter’s event from our photographer we had to push hard to even be able to use, I figured I needed to at least share a brief review.
The GOOD:
1. The food is really good.
2. Being on a boat in the Bay is an incredible venue (which I would love to do again for my other daughter, but am feeling a little hesitant now.)
3. We were happy with their florist.
The BAD:
1. Don’t know how top layer of cake ended up bright pink - was supposed to be pearlescent white!
2. Switched DJ’s on us a couple days before the event – didn’t go so well.
3. Their scheduled timeline was totally off due to some issues - ended up having to rush cake cutting and first dance as we were in the channel coming back to the dock.
4. Yelled at by woman who came storming out of her back office saying we weren’t allowed to have a drone at Treasure Island (in a public space) that would film the boat from a distance as we sailed by – that it could only be their vendor, even though he wasn’t available and was the one who suggested it.
I could go into much more detail, but don’t feel like it’s worth drudging up negative feelings since I don’t think Commodore really cares and found it odd they didn’t follow-up with us after the event to see how things went.
We had our wedding cocktail hour back in November 2016 with Commodore Cruises. I would not recommend Commodore for an event.
The reason why I wouldn't recommend Commodore is because of the customer service. From the start to the finish, I felt like we were a burden.
It began when we asked for a tasting. Jewell, the sales event manager, had to ask the director if we could even do a tasting. The answer was eventually yes, at a cost. We live in Portland, OR so we were only in the Bay a couple times before the wedding. We scheduled for one of our two times before the wedding. It was ultimately cancelled because the boat wasn't available. We rescheduled for the second trip down. The one day we were back down Jewell's staff was not working that Monday. She never really answered my request for a tasting so I'm guessing that's the reason for not having a tasting?
The next issue was Commodore trying to tack on extra charges a couple weeks before the wedding. In the best of light, Commodore is so scatter brained that they have no idea how to communicate terms of a contact correctly. In the worst of light, Commodore knows it's weeks away from my wedding and with all deposits paid, I don't really have any choice. Either way it lead to me quibbling with the director on the phone while I drive from Oregon to Oakland for the wedding.
The issue was that they did not include a vendor fee on the contract but wanted to add it last minute. When I proposed just not having my vendors eat and drink anything on board, Commodore became defensive and said that they would put someone on board to make sure no vendors ate or drank. Really? you had no staff available to do a tasting but somehow you have more than enough to patrol to make sure no vendors ate or drank? We ultimately paid it because we had no choice. There was absolutely no apology for their mistake.
The next customer service issue dealt with our photo slide show. I worked with Jewell months before to make sure we were setup for this. When I came to drop off supplies for the boat, I tested the slide show. It didn't work. We tried every single video file format possible and none of them were supported on the TV. I went back three or four times and the problem still wasn't solved.
The real issue was the staff, including Jewell, just plum didn't care. They wasted my time, my wedding planner's time, and my wedding party's time; all while doing nothing to help. Their only recommendation was for me to redo the slideshow so it's only jpegs, which would require more work days before the wedding and yet another trip to the boat. The staff was not only unhelpful, but also rude and frustrated that we kept trying to get it to work.
The next issue regarding docking. They couldn't tell me the docking location until the day of. They just told us to have our guests meet at the square in front of Scott's and someone from Commodore would come get the guests. I heard was the boat was docked pretty far away from Scott's. My issue was that Commodore was extremely frustrated that we were leaving late and guests were not onboard the boat yet. I ended up having to just float around off the boat so the boat wouldn't leave. I felt they could have handled the situation much better instead of threatening to leave people if we don't get them there ASAP.
Overall, their unorganized and uncaring ways left a bad taste in my mouth that the beautiful sunset couldn't even fix.
If I had it to do all over again, I would select Commodore Cruises to handle my wedding any day of the week! After calling several different companies offering the same services, Commodore's customer service and attention to detail were second to none. Hannah, our event planner, was patient and available throughout the entire process. She made us feel like valued customers and took the time to explain things to us as questions came up. Commodore's preferred vendors were outstanding as well. Not only were they all extremely talented in their respective fields, but they understood and worked well with Commodore to ensure my wedding went off without a hitch. There's a lot of stress involved in planning a wedding but by using Commodore Cruises, a lot of that stress was taken away because they handle many of the details for you. I could not be happier with my wedding or the services that Commodore Cruises provided. Highly recommended!!!
Hannah was an amazing coordinator! The food, atmosphere, crew & everything was amazing. My husband and I had such a stress free day and planning process because everything was taken care of for us and the communication between us and Hannah was great. If you are looking to do a party, wedding or any type of event I strongly recommend this venue. Thank you Commodore for making our wedding day unforgettable!
I really enjoyed working with the gals at Commodore! Though they switched our planner part way through, overall, it was a good experience. My only complaint was the bit of a fire drill that they put us through by changing our dock time less than a week before the wedding...then letting us know "oh never mind--we're actually ok." Aside from this, the food was fantastic, the experience was wonderful, and everyone had a great time. The only thing I would change would be to make it longer!
Weve always wanted a yacht wedding since we are very much of a water loving couple, and living in the bay area, finding a vendor wasnt that difficult. My now husband proposed last April and we got married July of same year! These people made it happen in just a short amount of time. Granted it was an intimate wedding,(less 50) but still, they did a great job. I would reccomend Commodore Events to everybody planning an event. Mine was a wedding and they obviously had so much experience that they covered all the bases. It was an amazing wedding and I thank Jamie and Linda for that.
;Meet the DJ beforehand--he miscued our ceremony music and didn't follow our music schedule as closesly as I'd liked
