I ventured on my own in 2019 to start Confections by Casey Renee. Before that, I was the executive pastry chef for Ace Hotel Pittsburgh where I earned 2 James Beard nominations and an "Outstanding in their Field" award from Pittsburgh Magazine. You may have even seen me on Food Network's "Best Baker in America." Born and raised in Pittsburgh, I spent 8 years in New York City cooking and baking in some of the world's most renowned, Michelin Star restaurants, including Momofuku KO and Del Posto. With all of my experience and expertise, I bring a unique and creative approach to my cake decorating and focus largely on flavors and taste. I love working with each couple to make a wedding cake inspired by you! We also work very hard to bring the best vegan and gluten free options to Pittsburgh. We never stop working to make our desserts better and better.

We've been getting cakes from Casey for years now for birthdays and other occasions, so when it came to our wedding it was an absolute no brainer. Every step of the way Casey made it an easy task and was a joy to work with. Our tasting took us through plenty of options and really allowed us to customize what we wanted and what we thought guests would enjoy. Her decoration work was great and day of on site she even worked with our cake toppers to make them extra cute. The flavor of the cake was phenomenal and we couldn't have been happier. I really have one truly damning issue with the whole experience. We had ordered a 6" custom Tiramisu cake just for ourselves to take home as we originally were thinking this for the wedding, but have enough people at the wedding who didn't like coffee. However, we were idiots and didn't tell the wedding caterer not to serve that cake, so alas our tiny cake went out to the entire wedding party and we only got one slice! Alas we'll just have to order it again for our first anniversary.

Casey created a beautiful, delicious gluten-free wedding cake that was exactly what we were hoping for. Textured buttercream with light, spongy cake and melt-in-your mouth decadent pastry cream filling. We added a few sprigs of flowers from our florist that tied to our floral design, and the cake looked stunning. Of course we've frozen the top tier to enjoy on our one-year anniversary, but I'm still happily starting my day with a few bites of fabulous wedding cake with my morning coffee. WOW!!! Casey was such a delight to work with. When we first went to her shop for our tasting, I knew we had to book her right away. The whole experience was lovely. She had us try a few different cake flavors, icings, and fillings; of course, everything was DELICIOUS! We went with a faux cake display and cupcakes for our guests, and everyone raved about the entire cake/cupcake display. I highly recommend Casey to anyone!!!!

Best wedding cake ever! I wanted a custom flavor for my cake and I was not disappointed! Cannot wait to order again! Casey really listened to how I wanted the colors to be and details. Loved it!

My husband and I were not going to do much of a wedding cake and we were planning on doing a dessert table. We decided a little last minute to do a tiramisu wedding cake just a few months out from the wedding. Casey was amazing! Luckily she was available and did such an amazing job! Everyone said it was one of the best tiramisus they have ever had and me who is a BIG fan of it as well, I have got to say it was absolutely my favorite! Casey was very good with communicating with me and my coordinator. I highly recommend!!!! I will be recommending her to my future bride friends!

Casey made our wedding cake, and we would recommend her a thousand times! It was everything we wanted it to be and we heard so many compliments from all our guests. Both our wedding planner and our caterer asked for our baker's information because they were so impressed! We actually did two rounds of cake tasting during planning because we were so underwhelmed by the places we tried the first time. Casey was recommended by a friend (she did their wedding cake too) and she easily blew everyone else out of the water! Everyone told us during planning that you always end up with extra cake and to order less than you think you need, we didn't!! Even though we ended up having significantly fewer guests than we had initially predicted, all of the cake was eaten and particularly enthusiastically once the word got around about how tasty it was. Casey also made us a dozen vegan cupcakes and trays of breakfast pastries (including vegan options), and all of those were gone too! We so appreciated being able to get all of those items from one bakery and being able to accomodate our guests. We definitely intend to use Casey again in the future for birthdays and special occasions!

Casey made our wedding cake for our April 2nd wedding and it was absolutely amazing. So many people (including my 88 year old grandma) said that it was the best cake they have ever had!! We had the vanilla with berry filling and vanilla buttercream and chocolate with chocolate mousse and vanilla buttercream. Incredible !!! Can’t wait to eat it again for our anniversary :) thanks Casey!
