We're wedding florists (Flowers Valley) and we had a wonderful experience working at Cornerstone Art Gardens. The staff is professional and accommodating, making the setup process smooth and efficient. The venue is absolutely stunning!
We recently celebrated our wedding at Cornerstone Gardens, and it was an absolutely magical experience. The venue itself is breathtakingly beautiful, with its stunning landscapes and unique gardens providing the perfect backdrop for our ceremony and reception.
The team at Cornerstone Gardens (Sallie & Marisol) were lovely. They were professional and very helpful in making our wedding day perfect. Also the catering, Folktable, was absolutely delicious - our guests raved about it.
My husband and I were married at Cornerstone Gardens on 10/15/23 and are still in awe of how beautiful the venue is. We first toured the property in January with Sallie and fell in love with its uniqueness and three separate spaces in one. As the date got closer we also worked with Marisol in addition to Sallie. Both of them made everything very seamless and easy for us which we greatly appreciated. The attention to detail on our actual wedding day was incredible. From drinks waiting for us immediately after we walked out of the ceremony to appetizers brought to us while we had a few quiet moments by ourselves. Our guests raved about how good the food was (sadly my nerves kept me from eating very much) and the full service bar and personal cocktails were amazing. We cannot say enough good things about Cornerstone and look forward to coming back for their other events throughout the year. If you're looking for the perfect venue, look no further!
We had our wedding at Cornerstone in September 2023, and it was more beautiful than we could have ever imagined! When we first visited Cornerstone, we knew it was the right venue for us. The gardens were immaculate and each space had its own unique charm. We worked with wedding planners and vendors recommended by the venue, and everything went smoothly.
Sallie and the team worked with us to make the event our own and honor our Indian wedding traditions, from the baraat to having Indian food from an outside caterer. The bar and drinks from Cornerstone were out of this world - in service, presentation, and taste. It was all amazing!
The main thing I regret about having my wedding at Cornerstone Gardens is that the day ended too quickly! We had the best day of our lives and so did our guests. The venue is unlike any other. Its so unique and gardens are perfection. We felt like we didn't have to decorate as much because mother nature provided so much beauty for us. We absolutely enjoyed our wedding planning process. We used preferred vendors that knew the venue and were recommended by our catering team; so the process was so smooth. The food (and drinks) were so good; definitely not your average wedding food. Guests still rave about it! Having our wedding in wine country was a stretch but the venue worked with us to make our budget work. We were so thankful and so were our parents. We would not hesitate to recommend this venue to anyone; so beautiful and we just had such a great experience!
My wife and I ended up having similar issues with Cornerstone as Jane and Kat did. We were supposed to have our wedding in June 2020, however COVID restrictions would not out allow it to happen. Cornerstone “offered” to move the wedding date back, however they also told us that they were under new management and wanted to also change various parts of the contract which we found unacceptable and would have increased the cost of the wedding. We instead told them that we wanted our deposit back since they could not provide the venue for the agreed upon date. They said that they would only give us a portion of it back. After arguing with them over the phone and a lot of stress considering whether we should sue them or not, we ended up getting a bit more, but not all, of the deposit back than what they originally offered. At the time of the cancellation, all that they had actually done for us was provide a tasting and answer a few questions we had via e-mail. I would at least understand if they had held back a few hundred dollars for those ancillary “benefits” we received from them, but not the amount that they actually ended up keeping.
Needless to say, I don’t recommend working with this venue for your wedding.
We had our August 2021 (orig Aug 2020) wedding at Cornerstone.
1 star because the venue is absolutely beautiful. Our wedding was stunning, the photos were great and guests loved it. I felt like both sales managers, Susan and Samantha, were really interested in making our day special and exactly how we envisioned.
We were so excited to have our wedding at Cornerstone when we booked in 2019. In May 2020, it became clear that we would need to reschedule our wedding due to covid...and here's where it quickly became a nightmare.
Cornerstone is under new management, so the reviews from 2019 and prior are for a different team of folks than you would be working with.
In order to reschedule my same exact wedding for a new date, Cornerstone asked for almost DOUBLE the venue and catering fees (for the exact same event). Suddenly there were many things previously included in the venue/catering that were no longer included, plus fees were increased, and many of the venue rules changed substantially from what we signed up for.
We felt we were treated with hostility by Karin Rogers, the new management. It was almost laughable when she said the new fees were because they are now focused on "growth and profitability"
In mid March 2020, they also asked to charge me early for the next payment, and I said sure - not at all expecting that later we would have to reschedule due to a global pandemic. We had paid for 100% of the venue fee, and ~70% of the catering costs, all of which were non-refundable, so we had little leverage, and I feel Cornerstone used this to their advantage. We finally (over the course of several very stressful calls and emails) negotiated an arrangement to reschedule for a lower fee, but the cost difference was still substantial, for the very same event.
Then the event manager we were working with was furloughed, the chef who's food we loved was gone. We did a tasting and were not pleased with the new food - I literally got sick. Thankfully we redid the tasting and it was acceptable (still not as good as what we signed up for).
All of this led to tremendous stress for several months, around what is supposed to be a very happy time.
Also echoing Katie's review where she mentions slow service at dinner and an understaffed waiter team - because of this, we barely had any dancing at our event. People were walking around the tent during dinner because it was taking so long...
In the end, our day was beautiful and we loved it, but I felt like others should know about what we experienced, since all wedding contracts say they cannot be canceled, but we felt in the face of the pandemic, this behavior was truly unacceptable. We had several other friends and family members with weddings impacted by the pandemic, and no one else faced such exorbitant fees and disputes in efforts to reschedule.
So interesting there are not any reviews since after 2018...hhmm so weird right? Well, let me tell you: it's probably intentional because this place really screwed the pooch and by pooch I mean my wedding.
We signed with cornerstone pre-covid when I thought we were booking with a sweet mom & pop, boutique venue. THEN come to find out in the midst of an unanticipated pandemic, the venue was purchased by Wine Country giant, Sonoma's "Best" (which is laughable now because they are quite literally Sonoma's Worst). Who cares right? Well we sure did when we were FORCED into paying $10,000 MORE to reschedule our 2020 wedding to 2021. Working with the new guard (Karin Rogers) was certainly the most stressful and heartbreaking experience we’ve been through. They were so inflexible, treated us as if we were idiots, and all they cared about the was bottom line. Making money. They are greedy.
After we got over that very expensive pill and once we swallowed, things just went from bad to worse. Particularly on our wedding day:
Our point of contact was like 6 hours late to load in (which is fine, but nobody knew. Communicate that)
Gardners were setting up our tables/chairs (symptom of Covid or a shitty employer so hiring wasn’t where it should be?)
Guests of the grounds were allowed into the barn (when they shouldn’t have been) and trying to take our custom wedding match books
Head of catering (Chris Madrid) was very very not nice to my wedding planner and florist (wtf.)
Served my boozy popsicles (that they forced me to pay double for) melted. MELTED! (Wtf #2)
I had 185 guests and they only had 12 servers thus our dinner was served an hour late which cut into our 2 hour reception so we only got 1 hour of dancing :( AND: 1 hour less of our open bar, 1 hour less of our Photo Booth, 1 hour less of our DJ, 1 hour less of dance floor memories (priceless)
To make all these matter worse, we simply asked them to compensate us for the hour we missed with the open bar and photo booth and they offered ZERO apologies, empathy or remorse. Instead came back arguing with the fact that they messed up. Had they, this review might not have been so detailed.
I recognize that a lot of this is a symptom of Covid. And I can get past that, but be kind Cornerstone. Treat your couples with some respect. This was the single most expensive item/service we have EVER made and poured our hearts and souls into this day and Cornerstone ruined so much of it.
I understand wanting a gorgeous wedding and venue, and did I? Sure, yes it was beautiful. But working with these monsters was so emotionally taxing. So taxing it has taken me 127 days to write this.
Advice for the couple: Don't book. If you book them (but seriously dont), make sure you add a clause in the review that spells out what happens IF the contractor does not deliver. The contract they use currently just spells out deliverables. There’s nothing about lack of execution.
We stopped by Cornerstone Gardens after it was suggested by our planner as an option for our wedding. It immediately was one of our top contenders and I’m so glad we chose it for our wedding in May 2020.
Note the month and year. We had to push that original date to September 2020 and again to September 2021. With each postponement there was never any pushback from Cornerstone, only understanding for our situation, and they quickly made sure we were good to go for the new date. I don’t think they could have handled our situation any better; we are so grateful to them.
As for the venue itself, it blew our expectations out of the water. Over the pandemic they remodeled and changed the landscaping around slightly and the result was more beautiful than what we already fell in love with. The layout of the gardens gave the whole day a flow that was seamless. There was no need for a lengthy relocation from ceremony to dinner to dance.
There is an open area with a lily pond adjacent to a vineyard where we conducted the ceremony. Immediately behind it is a walled-off area with a gigantic (and beautiful) tent under which we had the dinner. From the dinner we proceeded to the outside of the barn for a cocktail hour and the dance was in the barn itself, the whole while people who wanted to talk without noise could go back out into the garden.
I mention all of this because it was so nice to not have to coordinate relocating to different venues and that saved us so much time and planning. The care that has been taken to design, create, and care for the space also made it so we really had to do very little in the way of decorating ourselves.
Thank you to Samantha and everyone else at Cornerstone. We will always be grateful.
Our wedding day was a dream! The staff and setting at Cornerstone are wonderful! We live near Sonoma and it is such a treat to go back since we've gotten married and relive the memories. All of our guests raved about the scenery (gardens, sculptures, installations) and great spots for taking pictures - and of course our wedding photos were amazing! We loved being able to have everything at one location (the cocktail hour/meal/ceremony/reception), but still with so much variety (the tent, the vineyard lawn with the beautiful pond and lilypad, and the barn). Even though Cornerstone is open to the public, we had absolute privacy in the wedding areas and were undisturbed. We also used the on-site cottage, which was lovely and made getting ready for the wedding a cinch. If I had to do it all over again, I wouldn't change a thing! We used Ramekin's for our catering and they knocked it out of the park.
Cornerstone was a fantastic and unique venue for our wedding. The gardens and art installations were absolutely beautiful in April. The staff was so kind and helpful from start to finish.
Cornerstone is a beautiful venue and our wedding day would have been perfect if it weren't for a few hiccups/inconveniences.
Beautiful venue that has various locations for certain parts of the wedding. There's the gorgeous lawn area for your ceremony, the round tent area for cocktails for dinner, and the barn which can be used for various things. All in all, the venue was great because it's expansive and each location adds a surprise for guests. Not to mention that the gardens and the art exhibits are open for guests to wander and explore!
Cons:
The restrooms are the shared public restrooms used by the public who visit the courtyard area. This is a bit inconvenient for events taking place on the lawn, tent or barn. My guests constantly got lost finding the restrooms.
The "bridal suite" which is the cottage onsite, is not as secure as we thought. We had some minor theft issues where items disappeared and was never located again. My veil and some wrapped gifts disappeared from the cottage while our wedding was underway. To this day, those items are still missing. When I reached out to Cornerstone staff, they weren't as helpful as I imagined they would be.
Rentals are NOT included. So you will need to rent all tables, chairs, lounge furniture etc...
All in all, the venue is gorgeous but there are some things that can be improved.
We could not have been happier with our venue. Everyone that attended absolutely loved it, from the gorgeous ceremony lawn to the amazing cocktail hour and dancing area at the barn to the incredible ceremony tent.
We chose the venue as well because of the proximity to San Francisco and the ability to customize everything. It's definitely a venue that requires a lot of work because of all the flexibility they give you. We loved getting to bring in our own alcohol and rentals.
They also have a rain backup, which was important to us. Overall, we would absolutely pick this venue again and thought it provided us a site for one of the most beautiful weddings we have ever seen.
Cornerstone is a very magical venue. You have the garden, the art, the pond, the grounds, everything but the vendor shop areas to yourself to make your wedding day amazing and complete. You can dress it up, or down, and just about any wedding theme you could think of would fit this whimsical venue.
A few tips..
- If you pick this place it's do-it-yourself. Nothing is included except for the spaces. Know this going in.
- Because it's a DIY venue, it will be much more pricey to have a wedding here
- Hire a coordinator that knows design (like Sugar Rush Events) and the venue unless you are very good at design
- But still, hire a coordinator that knows the venue. Seriously, go with Sugar Rush. I interviewed 10 vendors. She's the best.
- Only hire vendors that know the venue, no matter what they say
- Do not wear spiky heel shoes at this venue, and tell your guests not to either (or get solemates)
The Pros
- This will be an incredibly beautiful venue for your wedding!!!
- Kelsey is very knowledgeable and answers most questions rapidly
The Cons
- People might sneak into your wedding to explore the gardens. It happened at our wedding. I heard it happens a lot.
- If you don't have a good coordinator there's a chance you'll lose something here. It's a big venue
- I had to remind the staff a few times about paperwork I already had on file
- Nothing is included except the physical spaces (you have to rent EVERYTHING)
- Everything costs more in Sonoma
So, if you can afford it, go with Cornerstone. It will be the best wedding in the world.
May I just say that my husband and I instantly fell in love with Cornerstone Sonoma the minute we laid eyes on this venue?! This was the only place we visited during the beginning stages of our wedding planning and we knew right off the bat we wanted our wedding here. The gardens are beautiful year round! We used the lawn for our ceremony, the barn for our lunch reception, and the tent for our cocktail hour and dancing. What's great about this place is that you can do whatever you want, wherever you want- and this gives you so many different options. Our guests were amazed with the venue and enjoyed every minute of the wedding- and so did we. When booking with Cornerstone, they give you a list of event planners and caterers to work with, and we chose Sugar Rush Events & Park Avenue Catering. The food was amazing and our wedding day ran so smoothly. Overall, if you book your wedding here, you won't be disappointed. This is a venue where a lifetime of memories will be made. Thank you Cornerstone!
Oh where to start!? The venue is mind blowing gorgeous, you can see that from the 1st site walk. Kelsey, the Event Coordinator, not only answered all my questions/concerns but did it in a timely manner. She went above and beyond to accommodate my vendors and items coming in a bit early. She had recommendations on vendors, advice on placement of items, and was EXTREMELY communicative with everything which makes for a flawless execution. Our wedding night was truly magnificent and such a priceless evening at this unique venue.
Where to start...
Brian and I first stumbled upon cornerstone on a visit to his parents house in Sonoma and immeaditely were intrigued.
There are about 20 (?) different gardens and each garden is created by a different artist. There is a whole succulent garden, then a garden with fun brightly colored birdhouses of all sizes, following by magical metal trees with crystals- you have to see it all to believe it.
There are so many nooks and magical spaces we were hooked.
The beauty with Cornerstone is that there are multiple locations on the property and you can really create the wedding of your dreams with full creative freedom. We opted to use the ceremony lawn for our ceremony (gorgeous long grass aisle surrounded by vineyard with a pond as your backdrop) we used the tent for our dinner (awesome 'big top' old fashioned looking white circus style tent, so magical lit up wth lights at night and so intimate and romantic) and the reception and cocktail hours were at the barn (amazing space in the middle of all the gardens, also beautiful lights and creative freedom with the space).
Whenever we talk about Cornerstone we use words like "whimsical" "magical" "unique". We love wine country but definitely did not want your run of the mill "rustic" wine country wedding. Instead we went for a black tie optional Gatsby 1920s style, classic, magical and very warm feeling. Lots of tea lights, hanging lanterns, personalized decor, etc.
If you want something different that your guests will surely remember, visit this gem. There are a few tasting rooms, shops and a restaurant to visit on Cornerstone property. We feel so lucky we can go back and visit whenever we want, it truly was a dream!
Wonderful staff, great recommendations and we were blown away by our recommended caterer Park Avenue. Our guests ranted and raved about the food, environment and overall feel of our wedding and we are so thrilled that we chose Cornerstone.
We had received some recommendations for friends who had recently scoped out Sonoma for wedding venues. We wanted a site that allowed hard alcohol so that helped narrow down the list a great deal. Within 5 minutes of being on site, we were sold. The venue is absolutely gorgeous. We used the lily pond for the ceremony, the lawn next to the barn for cocktail hour/dinner and dancing/desserts in the barn. The flow worked out great for our size (~ 120 guests). We had the option of the tent for dinner but loved the idea of doing an open air family style dining experience on the lawn. The venue availability was slim even when searching a year in advance (all Saturdays were already reserved) so we knew it was a good place. We ended up booking on Friday which was friendlier on our wallets and worked out really well for our out of town guests that wanted to travel both within wine country and San Francisco area over the extended weekend. Dancing in the barn was great and allowed us to entertain our guests until 11 pm (considered indoors). The staff (Kelsey and Andrea) were friendly, responsive, and organized. We loved the on site cottage that we had access to for getting ready before the wedding and for staying the night afterwards. Our day was very special and Cornerstone had a big part in our guest's wonderful experience!
One of the most unique venue and a hidden gems in Sonoma/Napa Valley. If you are looking for one of a kind venue, Cornerstone Sonoma won't disappoint you and your guest. Everything is ala carte so you can create the wedding or event of your dreams. We loved Cornerstone from the moment we walked the grounds and looking forward to hosting another celebration there in the future.
Thank you to our dream team for making our wedding day a memorable celebration that will remember for a lifetime: Kelsey & Caren (Cornerstone Team), Quintana Events, Park Avenue, AMS Entertainment, LetLove Photography, Kurtela Video Productions, JoAnn Adriese (Florist), & Baubles & Bow Ties Photobooth for assisting us creating and executing our dream wedding.
With Love & Gratitude! D&J
Cornerstone and their staff were great and very accommodating. They were easy to work with and were always quick to answer any questions or concerns we had through out the year of planning. Cornerstone itself is amazingly beautiful. Our guests loved every nook and cranny and enjoyed the three different spaces we used for the wedding (lawn for ceremony, tent for dinner and barn for dancing)!!! Overall great experience at Cornerstone and will always remember our best day ever at a beautiful venue!
Cornerstone has everything - a vineyard lawn, a barn, a tent, and a cottage! Plus, it has tons of charm and character and top notch restrooms for guests (this is important!). While you will have to rent all the tables, chairs and other items you need for a wedding, Cornerstone remains an amazing value. To top it all off, every event coordinator and staff member we worked with at Cornerstone was extremely helpful and responsive to our endless questions - they are truly committed to making sure you have a great time and don't sweat the small stuff.
We got married at Cornerstone in August. It was an AMAZING venue and the Cornerstone staff was super helpful throughout the entire planning process. I would definitely recommend that you check this space out for your wedding!!
Once we visited Cornerstone while we were looking at potential wedding sites, it just felt right. It is a beautiful site and the ceremony, cocktail hour, photos, reception, etc., can all be held on the grounds. The team there is responsive, professional, and well-experienced. This site does take more work because you must organize all of your own vendors, but they provide great recommendations and are always willing to help with questions. Our guests were so impressed with the scenery and had a great time exploring all of the grounds. There is also a ton of flexibility in choosing how you use the site and an on-site cottage to get ready at that currently comes with the site for the day. We could not have been happier with our choice to have Cornerstone as our wedding site.
I recently attended my good friend's wedding at Cornerstone. This place was great. The grounds are large and so diverse. There's a sculpture garden to stroll through during cocktail hour, and the main party was held an old barn with open sides which flows out onto a vast lawn. The flow of the party was great, the food was amazing (different stations with different styles), and the views of the vineyards surrounding are pure Sonoma. I loved this place.
While there may be a few hoops to jump through in securing the day, ie. insurance, preferred vendor list etc, it was worth every bit. The grounds themselves are absolutely beautiful, with gardens and art installations all over the property (hence the need for insurance). Once you book with them the exclusive access to the gardens gives a certain flow, through the rabbit hole feeling, that make your dream day dreamy. The coordinators office is very thorough, however post booking , you don't really speak with, unless you have questions. That might be incorrectl, as my wedding planner handled most details in the time upcoming to the day. (Speaking of which, of you need an amazing wedding planner look up Holliday Weddings). I would also recommend that you look into their onsite vendors. One of their recommended/mandatory caterers (you have an option of 4) have a restaurant on site, and they did our catering, you don't want to miss that. Also, Tesoro Florists are amazing professionals. If you are looking for an interesting, fun venue look no further.
We searched and searched for venues, and the minute we stepped on the Cornerstone's property, we fell in love. The venue provides an experience for guests. Throughout the wedding, guests move from one spot to another (from the ceremony on the grass to the cocktail hour at the barn to the dinner in the tent, etc.). The venue provided a blank slate for us to make the night exactly what we wanted. (That does mean that you have to bring in most vendors.)
Cornerstone's staff is extremely friendly and helpful. We loved the venue and wouldn't have changed a thing!
Everything about Cornerstone was Perfect!
We had our wedding here on 4/28/12 and couldn't have asked for a better place or experience. Cornerstone is beautiful and we loved that we got the whole property for our day. Veronica and Kristen were extremely helpful with coordinating our day. They answered all of our questions promptly and the place pretty much ran itself on our wedding day. I think Cornerstone is a great value for what you get and the pictures our photographer took there are beautiful and unlike any wedding pics I've seen before. I would recommend Cornerstone to anyone who is looking for a unique, nontraditional, and beautiful venue for their wedding.
We had our reception at Cornerstone on 11-11-11. The facility was our perfect reception location, with indoor and outdoor space, beautiful gardens, and plenty of room for a really good party! The staff could not have ben better. Veronica was our on site coordinator and she was fabulous! I would recommend this venue to everyone!
My husband and I got married at Cornerstone last month and it was nothing short of amazing. This was a destination wedding for us and planning from 3000 miles away had its special challenges but Kristen and Veronica were amazing. They were always available to answer questions and to put my mind at ease. More importantly, we had hemmed and hawed about carting all of our guests to wine country and then not getting married in the typical winery but Cornerstone offered us more than any winery ever could. Our guests raved about the venue, the staff, the food, the flowers, everything. And I couldn't have been happier. Definitely the wedding of my dreams and wouldn't think twice before recommending it to any bride who wants to wow their guests and not have a cookie cutter wedding.
Cornerstone Gardens is a stunning wedding venue. The value was great considering that the entire grounds are yours to roam and take photos around. We loved it and would not have changed a thing. The staff was professional and considered all of our needs.
We were recently married this weekend, and I have nothing but good things to say about the grounds and the staff. Uber professional, beautiful gardens and a hot day..what is not to like?
Not to disagree with a prior post, but I would vote for Alex's Catering, Lavendar Floral and Josh Dukes for music = a really awesome wedding with multiple compliments on venue, chuppa, flowers, music and food.
Thank you Kristen and Veronica for a seamless evening.
Cornerstone was outstanding and I could not have asked for a better venue. So many of our guests raved about how fun the setting was (especially for children) and how much they enjoyed it. Kristen and her team were also incredibly easy to work with; I would highly recommend Cornerstone to any couple looking for a perfect Wine Country wedding, but who want something more unique than a winery.
We loved our venue! It was the perfect place to get married! Everyone commented on how pretty and fun the venue was! We had a great time and we are so happy with our choice. It is very expensive though. We could have used the money somewhere else but we totally fell in love with it when we saw it so had to get married here. Watch out though, you have to pay a buy out if you do not go with their beverage service. You can probably go elsewhere and use your money to decorate your venue and make it look nice. But if you want a unique, memorable and fun location that your guests will guarantee to not forget, Cornerstone is the place for you. But really think through it before you take the plunge. :) It's a lot of money..so be very sure you are willing to shell out that much before you sign that check! :)
This was the most unique wedding venue we have ever seen and all of our guests loved it. It is an outdoor venue but the rain option (tent or under canopy) is still gorgeous and does not cost too much to implement. There are different sculptures and artwork all around the site which is a photographer's dream! The event director Kristen Stimpert is great and will do whatever she can for you. The site is a bit expensive but we tried to save in other areas and wanted a fabulous site.
It's an incredibly interactive and entertaining space on 9 acres that allows guests to explore and experience several different places all in one. We used the vineyard lawn for our ceremony, the modernized barn for the cocktail hour, and the beautiful round tent in the rose garden for the dinner and dancing. It was absolutely gorgeous and felt like a destination.;It can get cold at night, so rent heaters for the outdoor spaces.
It was unique and delightful! Great for photos and ambience.
