We have worked with Creative Catering many times and always enjoy it. The food is delicious and served promptly, and our couples have enjoyed their experience with them! Can't wait to work with them again soon!
We had the privilege of working with Creative Catering on a Wish Wedding we granted for Tiffani and Christopher. Their service and food were amazing. Great communication along the way. We would definitely recommend their catering to anyone!
Creative Catering of Virginia was absolutely amazing for our wedding! From the start, they were incredibly responsive and patient, answering our many questions to help us choose the perfect package. Throughout the entire process, they were organized, attentive, and a joy to work with.
We received so much positive feedback from our guests about how incredible the food was! On top of that, they thoughtfully packed up the leftovers so we could enjoy more at home. Everything was delicious, and we highly recommend CCVA to anyone looking for exceptional catering!
Any questions?
Creative catering was top notch from beginning to end. They went well beyond what we expected which really calmed the anxiety and nerves during the planning process. The team did a wonderful job the day of the wedding and were very professional. I would definitely recommend!
Creative did an engagement party for my son. They are incredible!!!!! Were everything they said, delivered in a timely and exceptional way. The food was amazing, the staff so helpful and pleasant. Would absolutely use them again!
My experience with Creative Catering was everything you would want from a company helping and serving you on your big day! The food was delicious and the organization and set up was perfect. I have already recommended them to other brides!
I always recommend and look forward to working with CCVA! The food is delicious and they always have a staff that works hard to serve you on your special day!
We were very happy with the catering CCVA provided for my daughter's wedding. Even though everyone raved about the salmon and the service, what I appreciated most was the attention to detail. Our primary goal was to find a company that was very organized, provided good food, and was not overcharging. I feel like CCVA checked all of those boxes and we would use them again for other events.
Creative Catering provided the food, bar service, and chocolate fountain for our December wedding - nearly all of which were big hits!! We are still receiving compliments on both the food and the kindness of the CC team, which I echo completely! It was a pleasure working with Caitlin and Courtney to make our food dreams come alive, and all of the CC staff were so pleasant and helpful on our wedding day! We only had two minor issues, the first being the initial consult and tasting. The problem really was in the scheduling and expectations set (or not set). The venue they operate from is shared (The Venue at Cahoon), and apparently even if you book a date for a tasting with the fee paid, your date can still be taken by another party later and you may be asked (told) to change dates. This was very frustrating for us, as this possibility was not explained beforehand and my parents had made plans to come visit us specifically for the date we originally booked; when we re-booked, none of our family, friends, or wedding coordinator could join us. My suggestion to CC would simply be to make sure this is stipulated in the contract or other communication with your clients, so that the possibility of this happening is clearly understood by all parties to avoid confusion and frustration! The second issue occurred on our wedding day, unfortunately... the linguine that we originally tasted and approved was served with butter, parmesan cheese, salt, and parsley, which was PERFECT (and as described on their documents available online and provided to us directly). But day-of, for completely unknown reasons, the linguine was absolutely LOADED with red pepper flakes! As a couple who enjoys spice, we were not phased, but for a lot of our friends and family it was WAY too much and made it inedible for several folks, especially children. Thankfully this was the only negative feedback we received from our guests, as the rest of the food and beverages continue to get rave reviews - the entrees especially have been said to be some of the best our friends and family have ever had at a wedding, which we would call a success!
This company is truly amazing. They are incredibly professional and perfectionists about their product. I would highly recommend them for any event. We did a seated dinner for 100 people and it was seamless.
We hired Creative Catering for our February wedding at the Virginia Museum of Contemporary Art. We did the Rose Buffet and hosted 70 guests. They were wonderful to work with. We provided all our own alcohol and they were great about it. Their Chicken Saltimbocca was an absolute guest hit as were their tomato soup and grilled cheese shooters. The bar service was very efficient and attentive. Would definitely recommend them.
We had our wedding on 10/21/23 and we had Creative Catering as our catering company. We heard of them through our venue, the Historic Post Office, and ultimately picked them because they had what we wanted for the better price. We had a buffet and picked a bar option which we paid for a certain amount and then afterwards, the bar converted to a cash bar. The cost was very comparable to the service that is provided. Throughout the entire process, everyone was incredibly helpful. On the day of, the service provided exceeded any and all of my expectations! We're not really fancy people, and the service provided felt fancy! Creative Catering did a fantastic job helping us foodwise for our day.
I recently had a birthday party for my mother-in-Law and I chose Creative Catering as the food vendor. I have nothing but high praises for their professionalism from beginning to end. The food was absolutely amazing and the waitstaff was courteous, kind and attentive to the birthday girl and guests. The chef was very personable and was able to prepare and cook everything on site! He spoke with me personally to ensure I was satisfied with everything, and I was extremely grateful for the care and service we received. The coordinators walked me through the whole process from start to finish and provided suggestions at my request. The food was hot, fresh, and delicious! For any event in the future, they will be the first call I make.
The CCVA team was overall very helpful throughout the process. Cortnee was always willing to reach out and clarify things. I did sometimes feel that small details fell through the cracks, but we were able to correct them before my event.
Creative Catering of Virginia made planning our daughter's wedding so easy, AND the food was delicious! From our initial phone calls to the dozens of emails back and forth, Caitlin and Kristen were there to guide us through the entire process even though we asked a million questions! The staff at the wedding was attentive, efficient, and kind. We are so thankful that we chose CCVA to cater for this huge, one-time special event for our family! It truly was a magical day!
Worked with Kristen and Caitlin at CCVA and they were both great! We booked for the plated dinner service with a couple passed hors-d’oeuvres, 3 meal options as well as an open bar provided by us, with CCVA bartenders. The staff on the day of the wedding were fantastic, extremely efficient, and the food was definitely a hit! SO delicious! Would definitely recommend.
I worked with Kristen and Caitlin at CCVA, and from the beginning Caitlin was so prompt with creating our multiple different rounds of proposals and answering questions. Kristen was amazing to work with as well and thought of every detail. Everything went as well as it could have! We had a buffet and our open bar package through CCVA. The food and signature cocktail recipes tasted amazing! Would definitely recommend this group of wonderful people!
Food; Perhaps the most exciting part of any wedding, especially when working with Creative Catering of Virginia. From our initial tasting at their marvelous center to the flawless execution of our plated wedding dinner, Creative Catering excels in all aspects of food preparation and presentation. As a couple that eats at many restaurants, we were beyond impressed by the very diverse selection of food and the quality of each dish. Creative Catering did not miss a beat in any regard during our wedding. Their bartenders and catering staff were top-notch and personable. At the end of the night they were worth every penny! We would highly recommend using Creative Catering of Virginia for your special day!
Creative Catering of VA did our vow renewal @ The Venue @ Cahoon. They did an outstanding job! The food from cocktail hour, salad, main course and sides were delicious! My guests loved everything as did my husband and I. I am vegetarian and they had no problem giving me vegetarian options while still meeting the taste buds of my husband and guests. They were able to satisfy everyone! I can not recommend them enough!
Creative Catering was a DREAM to work with on our daughters’ big day! From the first phone call with Caitlin to the many emails with Kristen, They were so organized and so attentive to detail and listened to every want that we had. They also helped with the setup of the dining hall and breakdown of all areas at the end of the night! Everyone at the wedding raved about the food and still continue to talk about how it was the best food they ever had at a wedding! The staff was phenomenal and checked on us throughout the entire night! During cocktail hour when we were taking pictures they brought us and our wedding party appetizers and drinks to the wedding party! The bartender was also so much fun and our guests had no issues! If you're looking for the perfect catering team to host any event, they are the ones to book with!

Creative Catering was an absolute dream to work with! They were professional, communicative, thorough and organized. I greatly appreciate everyone on their team for making our big day run smoothly! Food and service was fantastic!
When we first started looking for a caterer, Creative was by far the most responsive and offered the best value. Caitlin was easy to work with, and was responsive to my many questions.
At some point in the process, (I think shortly after booking), Samantha took over communication. Samantha was also responsive, but there seemed to be some confusion about a number of details, and we had a lot more back and forth to iron things out.
At our tasting, the food was fantastic. We made a few minor adjustments, then settled on our final menu, and began working on the final banquet event order document, but with more points of confusion.
Come wedding day, the food was amazing, but there were minor things that stood out as "this was not what we settled on." For example, we did family-style dinner, and we had said we (the bride and groom) would serve ourselves with the head table. Plates were brought out for us, and everyone else had to wait a bit - not what we wanted, but fine, no big deal.
The cake was supposed to be cut after we did ours, but it was not, and guests were cutting their own slices - Creative did not cut the rest of the cake until I pointed out to our DoC that it was tipping over (guests weren't sure if they were supposed to cut the top layer so were only cutting the bottom one).
Bartending - we supplied our own alcohol, and had provided a list of cocktails (with recipes). We were assured this was not a problem. The day of the wedding, I noted that one of the bartenders was rather rude! I sent a note to Samantha after the wedding, and was informed that the rest of the staff had also noticed issues with this bartender, and it was being handled.
A few days after the wedding, we got our leftover alcohol back from the groom's parents, and I immediately noticed an issue. One of our specialty cocktails, which SEVERAL people told me they ordered on the day, called for equal parts Absinthe, lemon juice, Lillet Blanc, and Elderflower Liqueur, along with a splash of gin. I was told by at least one person that the bar ran out of gin about halfway through the evening, which I found odd at the time. We did not receive back any gin from the groom's parents, but we did receive a nearly full bottle of Absinthe, an unopened bottle of Lillet Blanc, and no Elderflower Liqueur. Based on this, it's easy to guess what happened - the bartenders were making the cocktail entirely out of Elderflower and gin, which was not even close to the recipe. I also noted this to Samantha, and was told it would be looked into.
A while later, Samantha informed us that Creative would be refunding us the bartender service fee for the rude bartender, along with half of the service fee for the other bartender for the poor service. Great!
Finally, we had provided our own cake knife and server, which we used for our cutting. These were supposed to have been returned to us at the end of the night, but were not. I sent out an email to see if anyone had them, and Samantha said they found the knife, but not the server. No word yet on whether they've found it, nor when we'll be getting our knife.
Again, the food was fantastic. The catering staff (NOT the bartenders) were WONDERFUL, and everyone was very pleased with them and the food. I would recommend Creative for their food services, but not bartending. Caitlin was very easy to work with, and while Samantha clearly tried (she had mentioned at one point she is new to the industry), she fell short a few times.
everyone loved the food and the service was great ! we did a private dinner & everything was set up in bridal suite perfectly
Didn’t use them, but had a short conversation with Emily.
All I have to say is, for 75-125$/person, learn some people skills…. Learn to speak professionAlly and cut back on the attitude. I would not hire you after that discussion.
Our wedding was on 5/22/22 in Virginia Beach. Would highly recommend CCVA for catering needs! From the moment we were looking at hiring them, all the way up to the wedding day, staff were always available and willing to help and answer a million questions. On the day of our wedding, everything was amazing. The food, the staff, everything went super smooth and we had a lot of compliments from our guests! Thank you all for everything.
PS- I also hired them for another event for my work and it went off without a hitch too!
We had a great experience using CCoV. The planning process was simple and fun. Our wedding day went even better. The food was delicious and we even had a fun crostini station for our cocktail hour which was a huge hit. Everything was taken care of start to finish and we would recommend them to everyone!
We greatly enjoyed the service and staff of Creative Catering! The food was delicious and the entire planning process went off without a hitch. Their office team responded within the day and were able to answer any questions or concerns I had during the planning process. Their buffet options are incredibly flexible!! The kid meals came out a few minutes late (which led kids to eating buffet food) but it all worked out in the end! I 100% recommend CCVA for any event!
My name is Melissa and I booked with Creative Catering for my wedding on December 4th. I absolutely have no complaints! The staff was very accommodating and extremely helpful. I dealt with Caitlin and Samantha in emails about the details and what I wanted and they both executed everything perfectly! Food was delicious and the bartenders were very good!
We loved Creative Catering of Virginia for our wedding! We had beef and chicken served and for our vegan guests, they had specific meals prepared which they loved! Everything was delightful on our wedding day! We chose the buffet options as well. While we chose to do a dry wedding, we did love that they had alcohol packages for us! We chose a sparkling cider toast which was just perfect!
Five stars! They were absolutely wonderful and were very professional. The communication from start to finish was impeccable. Caitlin Murphy was an absolute godsend. From the taste testing to our special day, I don’t have a single complaint or regret. The food was absolutely delicious, and they were able to work around my picky needs. The people at our wedding raved about the food! Not to mention the open bar was a success!
Creative Catering was an amazing team to work with from start to finish! Caitlin helped guide us through every step and made sure we felt special throughout all of the planning. At our wedding, the CCVA team went above and beyond to make sure that everyone was taken care of and that everything went smoothly.
The food itself is some of the best we have ever had! Our guests were blown away at how delicious the food was, how attentive and polite the staff were, and how organized the entire wedding was. We can not thank the CCVA team enough for their incredible service and recommend them highly to anyone who is looking for a magical day!
Clyde and I would recommend Creative Catering to EVERYONE for any Event Big or small. If you can Dream it Rev and Samantha will make it come True. From the moment I sat down with Rev to give my vision to the tasting when Samantha took over. To the day of our Wedding 09/11/2021 Rev and Samantha went above and beyond to make our guest feel special. All of our guest were blown away at the level of Customer Service Creative Catering gave. They made all of our guest feel like they were the most important people in the World. Clyde and I wanted our Guest to come and relax and enjoy, and Creative Catering made that happen. Our guest were not only given the most amazing Food but were waited on hand and foot. Thank you Rev and Samantha for making our day so very special. We could never repay Creative Catering for the whole experience they gave our Guest. My Mama lives in Italy and was able to attend the Wedding she said that she felt like she was back in Italy. The food and service were Primo!Love Clyde and Erin
First of all, they were incredible friendly from the first phone conversation I had with the rep from creative catering (Caitlin). She never tried to up-sell me on anything and was very honest about what I would actually need for my wedding. We only had about 70 guests so we really didn't need an extravagant amount of food/beverage packages/etc. and they were SO affordable (about $2000 less than all the other catering companies I had gotten quotes from). The tasting was amazing. I brought my parents with me and there was so much leftover food from the tasting, I brought home an entire extra meal for my fiance. Everything tasted amazing (even my dad who is a picky eater loved all of the options). On the wedding day, the staff was so friendly and professional. They were efficient in setting up, constantly asked the bridal party if we needed anything even BEFORE the ceremony, and offered to finish some of the set up from our decorations, like turning on all of the centerpiece lights and fairy lights we had set up around the venue before dinner. I got SO many compliments on the food and it was even better tasting than I had remembered. Seriously, if you want a worry-free day, hire these caterers ASAP!
Caitlin of CCVA was phenomenal in answering all our questions leading up to the wedding on Jul 3, 2021. Her staff were on time, quietly doing their thing. The service was punctual, guests were impressed with their service at cocktail hour and the buffet was spectacular! I would hands down have them again if my next daughter has her wedding in VA!
I would recommend CCVA to anyone for their wedding! Their attention to detail was fantastic and communication leading up to our wedding was wonderful. All of the guests raved about the food and everyone was happy. We went with the pasta bar option and there was enough food for everyone and plenty of options to pick from!
Superb service, attention to detail, and response time. Truly an amazing experience, from top to bottom. We were so incredibly pleased by the personality of every server: they were great with all of our guests, even the kids, that the compliments about them all were constant! A shout out to them for treating my now husband and I wonderfully at our sweetheart table, making us feel special and among friends! The settings and arrangements of all tables were beautiful and exquisite. The food was excellent, all of our notes from our initial tastings correctly applied while also making adjustments on the fly for guests, and the gluten free menu options were accommodating and a blessing. Overall, we happily recommend Creative Catering for any events. In fact, we plan to use them again in the future, the food was THAT good! Thanks again for a fantastic evening straight out of our dreams!
CCVA did a fantastic job for our wedding! The food was delicious and all of our guests were very satisfied. The crab cake hors d'oeuvres were a huge hit! They were very easy to communicate with and more than willing to help in any way they could to make our day run smoothly!
The only complaints I have if any, is that they took it upon themselves to bring their own decorations including sashes for the cocktail tables and a colored table cloth. These were not things that I had requested and were not things we discussed prior to my wedding. They were done with good intentions and to match the color scheme, they just were not part of the esthetic I had planned. Additionally, I hired an outside baker for dessert and CCVA said they would replenish desserts for her and they forgot to do so and we ended up with a lot of dessert left overs just because it wasn't put out.
I would highly recommend CCVA for your catering needs. We used them for our daughter's wedding on 9-26-20. Caitlin was amazing to work with. She answered all of my questions or made changes promptly either through Email or by a phone call. Our Chef, Banquet Captain and Server were amazing at the wedding and were on top of getting appetizers, salad, dinner and drinks to our guests. I would definitely recommend this company
CCVA is amazing!!! The quality AND quantity of food was great. The staff and management is super friendly - AND supportive/understanding, especially during these crazy times of covid-19. All of our guests were pleased with our selections for the plated meal and appetizers (you can't go wrong with their filet mignon, salmon, or chicken saltimbocca). The event manager was also very responsive to our needs and any questions that came about. We highly recommend their services!
Creative Catering did an incredible job catering our January wedding at the VA Air and Space Center! Our guests kept commenting on how delicious all the food was. The bartender did an amazing job serving all of our guests! Cocktail hour flowed perfectly into our buffeted dinner, and the wait staff made sure everyone had what they needed. I highly recommend their All-Inclusive Wedding Packages, which made wedding planning a breeze for me.
The first thing that helped me make Creative Catering our wedding choice was the fact that they are extremely communicative. Any questions I had were quickly answered. The food itself was fabulous and the bar staff was amazing! They quickly adapted to any last minute changes that we had and provided an amazing experience for us and our guest. I would highly recommend!
Creative Catering of Virginia provided the catering for my daughter's wedding, and we are so happy that we chose them! From the first meeting with Karen, our CCVA contact, we began the wonderful experience of exploring all the different packages and menu selections that they offered. Karen was super organized and professional, and was very helpful in understanding my daughter's vision to find the perfect selections that she wanted, including vegan meals for our guests. The tasting was so elegant and so much fun, we felt like we were in a 5-star restaurant! Along the way, my daughter and Karen were frequently in contact to finalize every little detail. Any special request that we had was answered with "yes, we can do that!" The time for the wedding arrived, and everything was perfect! Delicious appetizers were served and the bartenders attended to the guests with friendly and pleasant smiles. The dinner of beef tenderloin and teriyaki salmon was absolutely delicious! We highly recommend Creative Catering for their wonderful service and delightful food!!
Creative Catering of Virginia helped to make our wedding day so so special. They were so attentive and hospitable with all of our guests, everyone was raving about the service and I couldn't agree more! Working with creative catering was such a phenomenal experience and the food was absolutely amazing. They were so accommodating and worked to help execute our exact ideal wedding reception and I could not be more grateful for all the hard work they put into our big day.
Hiring Creative Catering for your wedding is an absolute MUST!!
We had our daughters wedding July 2019. We had 135 people for a 5 hour reception and had to pay extra for an additional bartender and the extra hour, no worries we completely understood. The first 1/2 hour there was only ONE bartender. Then an 1 1/2 hour into our event they ran out of ALL beers and then at 2 1/2 hours they were out of bourbon and vodka. They told our wedding coordinator that the manager was working on the beer the problem but it was never fixed. A run to a grocery store would have corrected some of the beer issue. When having an event such as this most people do drink beer and wine over liquor.
Our venue provided a list of caterers for us to choose from; Creative Catering was the first on the list and we were instantly impressed. We requested a sample menu, and they surprised us by providing one that fit our travel theme perfectly (without us mentioning the theme — serendipity I suppose — we were particularly impressed by the chicken turnovers with the mango lassi dipping sauce). The food at our taste testing was absolutely phenomenal as well.
We bought our own alcohol, but they provided a recommended guide for how much alcohol to provide, which worked out almost perfectly for us.
There did seem to be some staff turnover throughout the process, which was a little bit concerning leading up to the event; however, Karen K. took over at the end and absolutely hit it out of the park, along with the chefs and staff support. They made our custom drink exactly how we wanted it, service was great, the buffet was laid out very nicely with tablecloth that matched our colors perfectly, and most importantly of course, the food was phenomenal!
Thank you Karen & Creative Catering for amazing service & absolutely delicious food for our special day!
Creative Catering did a great job with our wedding. The food was delicious and they helped so much along the way with the planning. They allowed us to do multiple tastings, as we were indecisive about the menu. They did great the day of, however, there were a few small things that happened, such as forgetting to have spoons at the ice cream bar and at first there was some confusion about numbers of bartenders needed for the event. Everything needed up working out and it was a great event. Great food, service, and price, I would recommend.
If you are a newly engaged couple and you’re overwhelmed, please call Karen at Creative Catering of Virginia as she was really impressive and made sure that the planning for food and beverages at our wedding was as smooth as it could be!! We used Creative Catering of Virginia for our wedding catering and bartending last week. We had gone to several tastings and events in order to find the perfect option for us. Karen at Creative Catering was by far the most professional and helpful person we met along the way! Not only did she help us design the perfect menu for our budget, she also helped with other things too. For example, she was able to give us our napkins ahead of time with the sparkly ring holders that we bought for the event.
During the wedding, the staff of creative catering were extremely helpful! They butlered apps at cocktail hour and they made sure to visit us, the bride and groom, when we were posing for family portraits. They helped in every way they could. They helped with design work, they helped with set up, they help with breakdown, they helped with the bar when the bar line was too long. They were just wonderful to work with and we were very impressed at the level of service! Our head table never had an empty glass and I saw them making the rounds with wine to the other tables as well! I was so happy that we went with Creative Catering! My uncle, who eats at a lot of catered dinners for his business, said that this was the best catered food he had ever tried. We can’t say enough about Karen! She was absolutely fabulous! You will sleep well tonight after contacting Karen and locking down Creative Catering's staff for your wedding needs!
Creative Catering was one of the best decisions I made when planning my wedding (aside from saying I do to my honey)!
The group went above and beyond to make sure that my day went off without a hitch. They helped me put together a meal that so many of my family and friends loved. People were literally coming up to our sweetheart table to compliment the chef and food.
The food was also warm (which I've heard is always a problem with catering large parties). They were so quick and responsive and sent along updates almost immediately. The servers were smiling and very kind to our guests. They had so much personality!
We gave them recipes for 2 signature cocktails and they gave us some helpful tips on how to serve them so that our guests won't have to wait forever for drinks. They were very good about considering our family and friends experience which was great! The head of the team even took out the time to jump on a quick call with my contact Brianna.
At the end of the night, they packed up all of our leftover food, 1 slice of each flavor of our cake and to go food for us and it was waiting for us by the door.
The crew went above and beyond and made our day one to remember. Brianna is amazing!
We just got married on June 8, 2018. We began working with CC of VA in November, 2017. From the time we met, had our tasting, concluding with our wedding reception, we could not have been more pleased with our choice! The food was delicious and the service was wonderful. Our guests didn't even leave us anything to take home. I highly recommend them!
My wedding was back in October at The Smithfield Center. They did an amazing job. They were on time and extremely organized. Everything looked absolutely gorgeous and the food was delicious! I had a plated dinner for 160 guests and all of the food was still hot when it arrived to my guests. I got compliments all night long about how good the food was and helpful the staff were. After we did our cake cutting they served and cut the cake very quickly so that guests could get dessert as soon as possible. They truly went above and beyond to make sure my special day went smoothly from start to finish. Jenn was very professional and helpful throughout the entire process and didn't make me feel bad when I needed to change a few things here and there along the way. She was very sweet and made me feel at ease that everything would be taken care of. They are a class act and I would recommend them again and again. Thank you again to all of the staff at Creative Catering that helped make my day extra special so that I didn't have to worry about a thing.
They did a wonderful job catering my event .... The food was amazing and we received rave reviews on everything (including our broccoli). Our coordinator Jennifer helped us with every detail which made this entire process a lot less stressful. They even boxed up the remainder of my cake for me to take with me. It had actually started falling apart when it was cut and the Creative staff did everything they could to keep it together so the dry - cheap cake could be served to our guest. Don't skimp on the cake - we chose a cheaper cake priced at $1800.00 and now I wish we had spent the extra money. All I can say is thank you Creative Catering for not letting my guest see the cake falling apart
Catered my wedding and butchered my $1100 cake, among some other things they did, gave us over done broccoli, and never Gave me my orange cream cake... Oh but they did apologize..
Creative Catering of Va was highly recommended to us by a cousin who had both catered with him in the past and used him for a friend's recent wedding. She had nothing but wonderful things to say about the food and services provided.
From the get go, the staff was easy to work with. Jennifer and I first started communicating over email about our favorite foods and types of cuisines. She promptly drafted a menu for us consisting of delicious passed hors d'oeuvre, salad, main entrees and sides.
At the tasting, she was very accommodating and allowed my parents to accompany us. Everything was beautifully prepared and Jennifer took the time to explain each dish and how the flavors complimented each other. We felt the salad was missing just one thing and she knew exactly just the thing to make it perfect. At the end of the tasting, we knew Creative Catering was meant to cater the food for our wedding. We had only minor changes to the menu and the four of us were all equally blown away by the food and their willingness to make the menu reflect our favorite eats.
After setting the menu, I worked closely with Jennifer on all the other details, major and minor. She understood the bride's attention to every aspect of the wedding and put many of my uncertainties to rest. She handled everything from place settings and napkins to ceremony chairs and high chairs. She was always only a phone call or email away to help me with various parts of the wedding planning.
Alan from Creative Catering also conducted a site visit beforehand so that they can assess the facilities and let you know of any issues/concerns you may not have even thought about. This is their business and they are great at what they do!
On the day of the wedding, we didn't have to worry about a thing, as it was all in Creative Catering capable hands. Alcohol was transported to the site for us as long as it was delivered to them at a designated time before the wedding. During the set-up, we had assistance with favors and LED lights placement.
Right after the ceremony, they were there with our favorite alcoholic beverages and our very own hors d'oeuvre plate. The guests loved the cocktail hour complete with fruit/cheese platter and passed hors d'oeuvre.
The food was served buffet style and our guests had plenty to eat. Creative Catering of VA even had a delicious doggie plate packed for us for the midnight cravings. For days after the wedding, my family and friends were still raving about the tasty eats like the corn cakes, short ribs, salmon, potatoes gratin and fresh vegetables to name a few.
Choosing the caterer is a big decision and the hubby and I are glad we chose Creative Catering. They are the full package and were pivotal in making our wedding come together seamlessly for us and our guests. For any future events, we know exactly who we want to work with!
Like many other reviewers, I'm so glad we hired Creative Catering of Va as our caterer. We learned that the key to a good caterer is not just the quality of food and service, but their experience at the venue, and Creative Catering experience at our Venue could not have been better. Jennifer was effectively like a wedding planner, helping us determine rental orders (who from, how much, etc), where to place things, how the flow of the event should go, what had worked in that venue before and what hadn't (e.g. we decided that enjoying market lights for an hour wasn't worth the price of stringing them up), how much alcohol and other drinks to buy, and of course, what type of food we wanted,
We had 2 tasting with Creative Catering and they were incredibly accommodating with scheduling since both my husband and I live outside of Hampton Roads. The first tasting was in late January, and I was not super impressed by the quality of food. (I was, however, really appreciative that they gave us a doggy bag so my sister could try it too). The second tasting was in May and it was amazing, some of the best food I've ever eaten, particularly the appetizers. Looking back, the first tasting may not have been as amazing because they use local, fresh ingredients and in January, the fruits and vegetables may not have the same quality. At the wedding, the food was excellent, especially the little appetizers. Unfortunately, like most brides and grooms, we didn't get to eat very much of the goodness, so Creative Catering will box up the extras and send it along with you. It was way more food than we could eat, but we were really appreciative for it.
Neither my husband nor I care for cake, so we opted for just a dessert table with coffee and hot cocoa. However, JEnnifer really encouraged us to have a cake and the little chocolate tort was absolutely delicious. One of the best desserts I've ever eaten. If only I had some right now...
Jennifer and the staff are excellent to have worked with, down to earth (we literally just hung out at their catering office for one afternoon just talking about plans and rentals and eating their jelly beans), calm under pressure, and perfectors of the art of food preparation. When we totaled the bill, they were not inexpensive but not expensive, and for the quality of their food, service, and hands-on help and preparation of the entire wedding event, I wished that I had hired Creative Catering at the very beginning of our wedding planning rather than waste our time (and much needed energy) with looking into other caterers and trying to figure out up from down in the wedding planning world. They were the linchpin and truly made our wedding come together, and we are so grateful to them.
I don't even know where to begin. I just can't. Jennifer and Alyssa were... amazing amazing amazing.
They spent countless hours answering my torrent of emails during the months leading up to my wedding. They knew my vision like the back of their hands and even better. What I didn't anticipate was everything to go completely seamlessly and flawless. Every bride fears the worst and yet, I could not have a imagined a more fun, perfect and awesome wedding thanks to Creative Catering and their team.
Jennifer & Alyssa were so on top of it, so attentive, so professional and just incredibly amazing. They both know what works and what doesn't but they had no problem compiling my millions of visions into one amazing wedding. My guests STILL rave about the food at our wedding. We did something really fun, food stations that represent different States that we lived in and Jennifer/Alyssa just made it work so well.
Creative Catering is not pretentious, not crazy asshole caterers who nickel and dime you for the dumbest things. They are so down to earth, so on your level and will truly make your event or wedding MAGICAL.
Whoever passes them up for another caterer in the area is mental. I would absolutely hire them for future events!!
Creative Catering catered our wedding, and it was a pleasure to work with them.
First, the food was fantastic. Alyssa welcomed our parents to join us for the tasting, and worked with us to design a menu that was perfect. She also helped suggest wines we could order that would pair well with his menu.
But Creative Catering is much, much more than just a caterer. Alyssa arranged all of our rentals, walked through our schedule with us, and functioned as our day-of coordinator. We picked the family style menu, but she made sure to take special care of my grandparents so they wouldn't have to pass the plates. Without us asking, Angy also reached out to all the other vendors to coordinate cake delivery, flower set up, etc. She really went above and beyond what anyone would have asked of a caterer, and because of Alyssa, we were able to go without a day-of coordinator.
We also particularly appreciated how thoughtful Alyssa was. While setting up before the wedding, a plate of cheese and fruit mysteriously appeared in the wedding party's room, which was very much appreciated by everyone. She also put up with all of our questions -- "what's the rain plan? do you have any table number holders?" -- cheerfully and patiently, and always knew the answer, which made us feel very confident that we were in good hands for our wedding.
In short, Creative Catering was both friendly and professional, and we couldn't recommend them highly enough!
I was completely overwhelmed with the process of trying to find a caterer within our budget. Several caterers we contacted actually laughed (snorted?) and said they wouldn't even consider trying to work at a price below $30/head. Welcome to the ridiculous Hampton Roads wedding industry.
In comes the breath of fresh air that is Creative Catering of Va. We had a great experience from day one. I am vegetarian and wanted to make sure we had great vegetarian options, while my mom was extremely skeptical of having a predominantly vegetarian wedding. Given tastings we had with other caterers within our budget, we had sort of resigned ourselves to "meh" food. At our tasting with Creative Catering (which was so fun!), we were completely blown away by the quality and freshness of the food, on par with great Hampton Roads restaurants. My mom became Chef Tina's biggest fan and couldn't stop raving. No more complaints from her about the vegetarian-friendly menu!
Alyssa (the coordinator) was amazing-I had budgeted to possibly have a "day-of" coordinator but she was so on it that I ended up deciding not to have one (we had a friend who also volunteered as a point person). Alyssa coordinated everything with our venue and other vendors and took off a lot of stress. She was completely willing to work with my budget and to plan a beautiful meal.
On the actual day of the wedding, the food was delicious. For appetizers, we had corn croquettes, handmade Beff Lumpia, and burrata bruschetta. For dinner, we had a plated beet and goat cheese salad, sides of quinoa salad and mushroom and brussels sprouts, entrees of stuffed poblano pepper with jerk sauce and seared cod, and a mini-dessert bar. We chose not to have a wedding cake, and they even threw in a delicious triple creme cheese for a "cheese cutting." All the servers and bartenders were very professional and helpful, and everything went so smoothly-we feel lucky that our friend found Creative Catering for us and can't recommend them highly enough.
Planning our wedding had its challenges, especially when it came to picking the right vendors. After our first caterer had to cancel, we were worried we wouldn't have time to find an alternative option just 4 months prior to the wedding. It turned out to be a blessing in disguise and that was pretty evident at the tasting. Creative Catering nailed every bite and Jennifer put us at ease when she explained how she would work with our other vendors to help us with the details. Since my husband is in the restaurant business, the food was our top priority for the wedding. As soon as the ceremony was over, I was pausing in between pictures to insure I could carefully eat some of the delicious hors d'oeuvres. From Jerk Chicken Meatballs and handmade Spanakopita to Ahi Tuna shooters and a heavenly bite of the Bacon Wrapped Scallops, the guests and bridal party knew early on they were in for a culinary treat. Our four food stations which included perfectly executed wild salmon and braised beef short ribs as well as International Cheeses and fire grilled prawn kebobs had our guests mingling and happily going back for more. Jennifer calmly helped me get through a couple other vendor bumps in the road leading up to the wedding and the catering staff worked effortlessly throughout the evening of our wedding. Creative Catering provided us with the gourmet yet casually elegant cuisine we desired. We couldn't be happier with how everything turned out!
My wife and I hired Creative Catering of Va to cater our 150-person wedding a couple of weeks ago and couldn't have been happier with the results. We even had 5-10 guests approach us to report that this was the "best wedding food I've ever had".
Creative Catering were flexible with our food preferences and budget, and they worked well with the other vendors to provide a seamless experience. I am so so happy we came across them before choosing our wedding caterer--they were an absolute highlight of the night! You will not be dissapointed with their food or the temperature of it!
My husband (then fiance) and I did tastings with two catering companies. Our first tasting with another company was pretty typical--good but nothing special, but then we met with Creative Catering of Va and were completely blown away. Creative Catering clearly loves to cook, and even though we had a tight budget they really wanted to present us with options that we would love. They even added a bonus item onto our tasting menu because we had told Jennifer (our Coordinator at Creative Catering) we had tried a really unappealing short rib dish at our first tasting, and she couldn't let us think all short ribs were like that. When we left, there was no doubt in our mind that we were going to hire them, but we were seriously conflicted over which dishes to pick because they were all so good!
Fast forward to the wedding, and the day-of food was amazing. We received rave reviews all night from our guests--including a friend who's a chef in RVA--saying it was some of the best wedding food they have ever had. Top dishes of the night were definitely the corncake hors d'oeuvres, brussel sprouts with bacon and wild mushrooms, and the milk-braised pork (if you're a pork fan, TRY THIS). Our guests were also blown away by the stationed hors d'oeuvres table, which was full of amazing cheeses, fruits and charcuterie. Sadly, I never got to see the full presentation b/c I was too busy talking with my guests, but they did prepare a small plate for me so I could at least taste everything =)
We couldn't have asked for a better Catering company to handle our Wedding....
Creative Catering of Va catered our wedding at the Yorktown Freight Shed, and they were absolutely amazing! My husband and I did not want your typical bland wedding food, and Creative Catering delivered. We served jerk chicken, a white fish with caponata, and a mushroom pasta. The flavors were delicious, and we've had guests come up to us after the fact to tell us how much they enjoyed the food. Guests raved about the fruit, nuts, and cheese, which we almost passed on.
Alyssa and Lisa were so easy to work with. They coordinated with vendors, helped with our beverage order, and worked within our budget. Overall, they helped make our wedding the best day!
On top of incredible food and organization, we felt like Creative Catering of Va went above and beyond to make our whole experience with them awesome. Jennifer was adamant that we would eat the food at our own wedding (which I've heard lots of brides/grooms don't get to), and she made it happen. The wait staff had plates of appetizers waiting for us as we walked out of our ceremony before we went to take photos, and they served us dinner at the perfect time so that we could eat while other guests were going to the food stations. Also, we planned our wedding from afar, and Jennifer and Alyssa had no problem fitting in two tastings (one food, one dessert) for us during our brief visits to town in the months before our wedding. Creative Catering beverage service (where they accept your beverage delivery at their kitchen, then bring it all to the wedding for you, ready to serve) was a huge help. Lastly, Jennifer knew our venue really well and coordinated everything to do with the rentals directly with them so we didn't have to get involved.
We can't thank Jennifer and Alyssa enough!
Our guests are still complimentingCreative Caterings food, even months after our wedding. My wife and I knew we wanted food stations so that people would have lots of choices to accommodate their various restrictions (vegetarianism, gluten free, dairy free, etc.). Creative created a delicious menu with a wide variety of choices, all within our budget.
Their coordination was perfect and a huge help to us leading up to the wedding and on the day itself. Alyssa helped us think of and take care of every detail, from ordering dinner tables of different sizes to accommodate our seating chart, to remembering to rent heaters for the dinner patio. Creative Catering has an incredible combination of style with impeccable organizational skills.
Would not recommend Creative Catering. I attended a wedding where they were used and the staff seemed very unorganized. Food was okay but not warm enough and in the middle of our meal we went to the bar to get a drink and our plates were already removed from our table when we got back. Just didn't seem very professional.
I would give them negative stars if it was allowed on this site. I attended a wedding in which Creative Catering was the caterer. Other tables were almost finished eating before we finally got our food. The food was ICE cold! Not only that, but at my table, we were only served the cold plate of potatoes and steak. After we picked around on that to try to eat it, another person at our table noticed other tables had another plate of something. So when a server finally came back to our table, I asked if other tables had fish and vegetables. They said, "no, the other plate is chicke and vegetables." I said, "well, we didn't get that." So several minutes later, we finally got the cold chicken and carrots. I took one bite and had to spit it out. It was disgusting and cold. I feel bad for the couple who probably spent at least $30 a head for the dinner only to have people not even eat it because it was so terrible. Unacceptable on someone's big day!
I will not go into details but I would not recommend them. If they do not provide good service you are out of luck as they do not stand behind their name. They already have your money so if you aren't satisfied they don't care.
I have attended 2 weddings now with Creative catering and will say the first one, my friends wedding last fall, was much better than this last one where I attended as a guest of someone. The food did have a good taste but just wasn't warm enough. I can usually eat meat a little cold but not vegetables, especially potatoes. I am not sure what happened to cause this but hopefully creative catering did the right thing and took care of the family. I don't really know how to rate them. The presentation was very nice and again the food had a good taste, just cold. I guess for me I would consider hiring them for something on a much lower scale. A wedding is just too important and too big of a day for something to potentially go wrong like this. I hope Creative Catering gets to the bottom of this too so it doesn't happen again.
My husband and I got married 3 weeks ago and had Creative Catering provide our food for the reception, and we still can't believe how amazing it was. Jennifer and Alyssa are both amazing, they were on top of things right from the start. Along with their amazing team, they made the planning very easy for us to do, and even gave us great ideas and recommendations when it came to DJs and florist vendors. The price of the package was extremely reasonable, specially since it included the linens, china, flatware & glassware for the tables, seating for our 175 guests, and even dinner, which every one of our guests complemented! The food was just amazing! And finally the day of the event, walking in to the hall and looking at the beautiful table settings & buffet decorations they had made just put the cherry on top. Everything looked marvelous, everything was just how we had asked for it, and we seriously could not have asked for a better wedding than the one we had. Thank you Creative Catering Team, your absolutely wonderful, thank you for all of your hard work and dedication that you put into our event, we greatly appreciate it , you will be the only catered we ever use from here on!
Creative Catering of Va catered our wedding and we couldn’t have made a better choice! We wanted a casual fun affair with food to remember. That is exactly what Creative Catering delivered. Everything was up front and honest. From the very beginning, Jessica was responsive and an ease to work with. She was never more than an email or phone call away, always ready to listen, give suggestions/ideas, and most importantly to Make Things Happen! She was very accommodating to any ideas and changes. The Chef created a delectable meal that our guests still rave about. Post wedding, upon seeing friends and family, the first thing they complimented on was “THE FOOD!”. Guests have commented on every single flavor down to the seasonings on the vegetables and savory sauces on the meats. It’s quite a badge of honor when your guests are posting pictures of your wedding from your dress to your hor’dourves on social media. In addition, Creative Catering staff was professional and kind. At the end of the night, I inquired with the staff captain and she assured me that everything was covered and that there was nothing more I had to do but to simply enjoy.
It was one thing to plan but to actually have the whole event come together was magical. On the actual day, along with my Day of Coordinator, Jessica and her team took absolute care in working through of all the details ensuring that we never had to hear/deal with any of the hiccups.
How fitting that our wedding was curated by such a hardworking team of people. Many thanks to Creative Catering of Va Team!
I attend a wedding this past weekend that used this service. The food was decent, but everything served was extremely cold. When you spend as much money has this service was, you expect warm, good food. I would also suggest if you serve salad you give a bowl or plate for salad separate. We had to use the same plate for salad as your meal. From what I gather when there was a complaint made, they were very rude and did nothing to make up for their mistake! Poor customer service! This is a company I would not recommend!
Would not recommend---food tasted great but not warm at all. Also not enough crackers during cocktail hour. For the price we paid we were expecting a much better turn out.
I can't thank all of the staff enough for the service and the delicious food they provided. The guests could not stop raving how delicious the food was and how beautiful everything looked from the canopy, tables, buffet tables, service, etc. Laura always responded in a timely manner, if not immediately and always put me at ease. If one is throwing an event and wants an excellent full service catering, then hire Creative Catering of Va. I will definitely hire them again! Creative Catering of Va made our wedding day a special day. After reading the previous review - I couldn't disagree more - It goes to show you that some people just can't be pleased and it sounds like buyers remorse... ☺
We used Creative Catering for our daughter's wedding last weekend at the Williamsburg Winery and couldn't be more displeased with the poor service we got. The food was served EXTREMELY cold and some of our guests didn't even eat because of it. The mashed potatoes were as cold as if they were taken right out of the refrigerator. The chicken and steak were just as cold. We are very embarrassed by this and feel we did not get the service we paid for! We were served the salad first and then the main course and weren't even given a clean plate. The main course had to put on the same plate with all the dressing still on it--very unprofessional! I saw one of our guests using his napkin to wipe the dressing off his plate so he could reuse it. The lead at our reception claims the food was served 15 minutes before the scheduled time so that may be why it didn't get heated enough--that was not our decision and we shouldn't have been served cold food because of it. She also claims the food was served warm and unless she actually tasted it then she has no clue what she is talking about. I can guarantee 100% that every single guest (Approx 135) will all say the food was extremely cold. One of our guest even said the vegetables tasted like a bag of frozen vegetables was taken from the freezer and dumped on the platter and served. Within 20 minutes of the cocktail hour starting there were no more crackers and when my husband asked for more he was told there weren't anymore! Nothing left but some cheese! Upon contacting Creative Catering I got nothing but excuses such as the breakers at the Winery kept tripping and we should've told them at the reception and they could've reheated the food. It would've taken all night to go around and reheat all that food and people had already started eating so there was no way you could take food from 135 guests and reheat it. We also did not want to cause this type of commotion on our daughter's big day nor should we have had too!
We are appalled that we were given this type of service and not offered any compensation of any kind. Just a "sorry". This service was UNPROFESSIONAL and UNACCEPTABLE! Mistakes can happen and we totally understand that but be professional about it and make things right with your clients. That's what makes a good business and keeps people coming back...not denying and making excuses. We were offered nothing! I hope no one else has to go thru this. Weddings are not cheap and people should get the service they pay for or compensated if not!
Jennifer of Creative Catering made our experience phenomenal from start to finish. She provided prospective venues and other valuable resources to help make my process smooth. She never once said "that's not my job."
Jennifer ensured our tasting would provide a pretty adequate representation of the food taste and quality. When we made a change to the menu she further accommodated our new selections with an equally palatable second tasting.
Jennifer also was kind enough to work within the confines of our venues expectations. When they were unwilling to meet within the timelines that made sense for the event, she quickly changed plans to ensure we would be covered either way.
Her positive energy made the whole experience a delight, and was ultimately the reason we decided to use CCVA over other competing caterers. Jennifer embodies the spirit of professionalism and going the extra mile is her norm.
The reception itself was all but perfect. The staff ensured the wedding party would be able to munch before the event began by providing a tray in the bridal suite. They further served me and my husband first making a lie out of the many that foretold that we would likely not have a moment to eat on our wedding day.
One tiny suggestion pertaining to the shrimp and grits. Make sure they are served in individual portions using "high quality disposables." That way every guest gets a taste of the goodies!!
Our experience with Creative Catering was top-notch. We decided to use them for our wedding catering after receiving very prompt and professional responses to our emails - and a delicious sounding menu! We went to our tasting and fell in love. We had family style dining and our guests were raving about the food - the Beef Wellington were especially delicious! We felt very taken care of throughout the night, the service was excellent and everything ran so smoothly. We cannot recommend Creative Catering enough!
We were introduced to Creative Catering of Virginia at an event last year. We were very impressed with the quality of their food and the attentiveness of the catering staff and selected them to cater our daughter's wedding. We could not have been happier. Alyssa Stevens, our catering coordinator, did an outstanding job helping us select our menu and inviting us to a tasting prior to our making our final menu selections.
We received countless compliments from our guests on how delicious the food was, and just as important, they commented on the courteousness and attentiveness of the staff. Everyone from the senior caterer in charge of our event to the bus boys made us feel as though they were catering to their own family.
We highly recommend Creative Catering of Virginia to anyone looking for catering services for their event.
FANTASTIC!!
From the tasting with Becky, my mom and I knew CCOV would be my caterer. The food was absolutely delicious and there were so many great options to choose from. We had our wedding in early August and I still get comments on how great our food (especially the mashed potatoes) were. Becky made us feel like a priority, and worked with us on not only our vision for the food, but the whole feeling of the reception. Other than my photographers, I did not have any other vendors who were that diligent and caring about my event. CCOV even made a custom dessert bar setup for homemade desserts we provided, so that it would look nice and match the buffet dinner. It looked amazing!
Best part-I now know that my father had called sort of last minute (after the cut-off for big changes) and added a s'mores bar to our reception as a surprise to me (lifelong Girl Scout and my fiance and I are camping enthusiasts). I know this must have been a big change to our overall order, but to my knowledge Becky and CCOV were more than accommodating and kept it as a surprise and my guests and I LOVED it.
Becky-THANK YOU for everything!! I love that I didn't have to worry about the catering at all and felt so confident in CCOV, even when I had those "bride nightmares"-you were so reassuring! CCOV did a fantastic job!
