When we first started looking for a caterer, Creative was by far the most responsive and offered the best value. Caitlin was easy to work with, and was responsive to my many questions.
At some point in the process, (I think shortly after book...ing), Samantha took over communication. Samantha was also responsive, but there seemed to be some confusion about a number of details, and we had a lot more back and forth to iron things out.
At our tasting, the food was fantastic. We made a few minor adjustments, then settled on our final menu, and began working on the final banquet event order document, but with more points of confusion.
Come wedding day, the food was amazing, but there were minor things that stood out as "this was not what we settled on." For example, we did family-style dinner, and we had said we (the bride and groom) would serve ourselves with the head table. Plates were brought out for us, and everyone else had to wait a bit - not what we wanted, but fine, no big deal.
The cake was supposed to be cut after we did ours, but it was not, and guests were cutting their own slices - Creative did not cut the rest of the cake until I pointed out to our DoC that it was tipping over (guests weren't sure if they were supposed to cut the top layer so were only cutting the bottom one).
Bartending - we supplied our own alcohol, and had provided a list of cocktails (with recipes). We were assured this was not a problem. The day of the wedding, I noted that one of the bartenders was rather rude! I sent a note to Samantha after the wedding, and was informed that the rest of the staff had also noticed issues with this bartender, and it was being handled.
A few days after the wedding, we got our leftover alcohol back from the groom's parents, and I immediately noticed an issue. One of our specialty cocktails, which SEVERAL people told me they ordered on the day, called for equal parts Absinthe, lemon juice, Lillet Blanc, and Elderflower Liqueur, along with a splash of gin. I was told by at least one person that the bar ran out of gin about halfway through the evening, which I found odd at the time. We did not receive back any gin from the groom's parents, but we did receive a nearly full bottle of Absinthe, an unopened bottle of Lillet Blanc, and no Elderflower Liqueur. Based on this, it's easy to guess what happened - the bartenders were making the cocktail entirely out of Elderflower and gin, which was not even close to the recipe. I also noted this to Samantha, and was told it would be looked into.
A while later, Samantha informed us that Creative would be refunding us the bartender service fee for the rude bartender, along with half of the service fee for the other bartender for the poor service. Great!
Finally, we had provided our own cake knife and server, which we used for our cutting. These were supposed to have been returned to us at the end of the night, but were not. I sent out an email to see if anyone had them, and Samantha said they found the knife, but not the server. No word yet on whether they've found it, nor when we'll be getting our knife.
Again, the food was fantastic. The catering staff (NOT the bartenders) were WONDERFUL, and everyone was very pleased with them and the food. I would recommend Creative for their food services, but not bartending. Caitlin was very easy to work with, and while Samantha clearly tried (she had mentioned at one point she is new to the industry), she fell short a few times.
