I DO NOT recommend anyone to host an event, especially not a wedding, due to the unprofessionalism, irrational demands, and DISCRIMINATORY comments made by hotel managers. We hosted a wedding event here and regretted it. The general managers, A...ndrea Manni and Sharon Shaughnessy, are unaccommodating and unfriendly. They are not culturally aware and have no sense of inclusivity to diversity. They lack communication skills and professionalism. We signed a contract and as time went on, Selene Dai, the sales agent in charge of our event, decided to add requirements she failed to put on the contract and Andrea held us responsible to meet the requirements. When I tried to call and reach the managers they did not return calls and did not respond to voicemails, I had to chase them. We had informed them from the beginning that we needed halal Bengali catering which would be provided from NY as there were no options in MA. Selene said that we can have outside catering as long as they are licensed. She then gave our caterer the run around and told them they need to acquire a permit from city hall or be licensed in the state of MA without doing any prior research. The catering company has been serving venues across MA for 15+ yrs and never had to deal with this. I had to call city hall myself to confirm that those documents wouldn’t work for out of state catering. Rather than being accommodating and trying to rectify the situation, Andrea tried to blame the caterers and proceeded to tell us “she’s been in the catering business for years” so she knows what’s required. She made disrespectful comments towards the catering company instead of taking ownership of her own incompetency. It was clear she and management as a whole was biased towards us. Throughout the whole process we had to hear many condescending and sarcastic comments and remarks from Selene. During the last week leading up to the event, Selene went ahead and charged my credit card for the final payment without informing me or asking me for a final guest count and our preferred payment method. When I asked to confirm that the hotel is providing all soda and water throughout the event, Selene presented new info saying that because we negotiated a price the first day we talked that it meant that soda would not be available the entire night. That was not discussed prior and only brought up when I asked to confirm final details. We were having a non-alcoholic event and the only drinks we requested were soda and water to be available the entire night. We ended up having soda for only 3 hrs during our 5 hr event. Selene also would not allow our decorators to be in the room setting up the stage while the hotel staff set up the tables. Selene gave our decor team less than 1.5 hrs to set up stage + decor for 350 guests. We had to push our event start time to make accommodation for the venue. They claimed that the decor team would be in their way and had no interest of working together to setup the room. During the wedding itself, hotel staff seemed like they didn't know what they were doing. It’s like they never hosted a big party before. The hotel management team made derogatory and discriminatory comments saying, “the caterer is actually professional and on time and know what they were doing” and that “the guests are actually nice and calm.” They seemed to think that because we were minorities and hiring a catering company also full of minorities, that we would all be unprofessional and rowdy.
