We work by a deposit and then each fitting a payment is lined out before we start down this path , we do take cash, check or charge but a charge there is a 5% upcharge added . Fittings are Tues, and Thurs, and Saturdays . if another time is needed just ask we will do our best to try to make it work .
Dresses are kept at the store and we do have insurance , unless we clean them .

aid, “No problem,” and I knew I was in the right hands.
I want to start by saying the process took more than 10 fittings—and that was intentional. Because this was my mom’s dress, Peggy made sure we were included in every decision before she made any cuts or changes. We would come in, put the dress on, and confirm everything together. It made the experience so meaningful.
We had a few concerns going in: the dress was over 40 years old, and my mom was smaller than I was at the start of the process. Other seamstresses told me I’d need to lose a significant amount of weight, but Peggy reassured us from day one. She said the dress was in great shape and that the size difference wasn’t an issue. She made me feel comfortable and confident exactly as I was.
At the beginning, Peggy asked for inspiration photos—some of which I’ve included in the pictures—and asked what I liked and didn’t like. Little did I know she already understood the vision for the dress perfectly.
The first step was matching the original fabric. She added an extra piece to the back to account for the size difference. By the time the wedding arrived, I was within an inch of my mom’s original size, so part of that addition was removed. Once the fabric was added, I could try it on for the first time. The only things I knew for sure were that I didn’t want long sleeves or a high collar.
At my next appointment, the sleeves and collar came off. Peggy then pointed out the beautiful lace at the neckline. I had originally wanted a V-neck, but once I saw how stunning the lace looked, I decided to keep it.
The next step—one of the most special—was designing the back. The entire back of my dress was created using hand-placed lace from the hat my mother wore on her wedding day (she claims that was the style back then!). It became one of the most beautiful parts of the dress and required so much time and care to ensure everything mirrored perfectly. Peggy and her team did an incredible job.
Because I’m slightly taller than my mom and wanted to wear heels, Peggy also adjusted the straps to add length, creating the perfect fit.
Peggy completely transformed my mother’s gown into my dream wedding dress. It meant the world to me to wear something so meaningful, and the process itself became such a special experience for my mom and me. I’ve included some progress photos and wedding day pictures in the comments.
For any brides considering updating a family gown, I cannot recommend Peggy enough. I was terrified of having a “27 Dresses” moment, but every step was intentional, emotional, and so special. Trust the process and be open to suggestions. I absolutely loved my dress and received so many compliments.

I was planning my wedding back home in MO (currently live in TN) so scheduling my fitting would have been hard if I went anywhere else. Peggy was flexible and worked with my schedule so I could get in my 3-4 fitting before the wedding.
We had spoke about shortening the hem, adding straps, adding bustles to my dress, and hooks for my cape to be secured to my dress all night.
I wasn’t sure how it was going to turn out at first but she had it planned out. When she told me how she could do everything I was blown away. I didn’t even know you could bustle a cape and still have it look so elegant. Both the bustle of the dress and cape flowed so well together you would have thought it was meant to always be that way.
On my wedding night I was able to dance the night away without having to hold my dress up. The straps looked delicate but held up so well.
More to come- Peggy is working on my bridesmaids dress for my little sister’s wedding now and she works miracles.
My bridesmaids dress came in from a dress shop we ordered from with a large stain on the front chest area. They also ordered the wrong size too. I was mortified and so heartbroken as I knew I wouldn’t have time to order a replacement dress.
Peggy was able to get the stain out for me and you can’t tell it was ever there. She also was able to take the zipper out and replace it with a corset back. I can’t wait to see the final look.
Her pricing doesn’t even come close to the magic she can and does create.
Pro-tips: bring your wedding shoes and undergarments when doing fittings. (I forgot about my corset and it ended up “making” my dress longer in the front) ***I still love my dress and cape though ❤️***

story:
On Sept. 9th, I had my first wedding dress fitting at an alterations shop — I was referred by the shop where I purchased my dress. It was normal. The second fitting wasn't until Nov. 8th, a month later, but the seamstress said it'd be fine. Nov. 8th was a complete nightmare. When I tried on the gown, none of the alterations had been done. The seamstress hadn't done any of the work, chuckled, and said, "Oh, I missed this, and that... looks like we're starting over." She couldn't figure out how to do the bustle, kept trying to shorten the dress straps, used pins that were too big and left marks in the side of the gown, and even cut off lace from the side of the gown. She couldn't schedule me for a third —extra—fitting until Nov. 27th because she said "her schedule was so full" and she "had tons of gowns to do" before mine. My wedding was Dec. 8th. I left the shop with my mom, so upset I couldn't talk.
Nov. 9th, my mom called Custom Alterations and talked to Peggy. Peggy was compassionate, kind, and asked if we wanted to visit the shop that day just to talk. At 1 p.m., Peggy sat with me, listened through my tears, and explained everything that needed to be done on the gown by looking at photos. After some hugs and words of encouragement, I felt confident that Peggy could make my gown beautiful. She restored my trust and made me feel comfortable. We left to get the dress from the other shop, and by 3:30 p.m., Peggy had pinned the hem, straps, and a few other necessary alterations — first fitting done!
Nov. 14th, Peggy had completed ALL the alterations on my gown. That's 5 days later! EVERYTHING was done!! The dress looked gorgeous, and I felt amazing. Courtney walked us through the steps to bustle the dress on wedding day, and answered all my mom's questions. Dec. 7th, I picked up my dress and veil, both pressed and ready to go, with a huge smile.

In an earlier appointment the clasp broke but Peggy assured me that the dress just comes with a cheap clasp and if she puts one on it won't break assuring me that the dress was not too tight. Our first appointment was great, everyone was super friendly and made me feel at ease about the alterations that needed to be made to my dress... the 3rd, 4th, and 5th fittings were the exact opposite. One time I went in when we had scheduled a fitting and they had gotten the day and time mixed up and Peggy got an attitude/very rude and unprofessional with ME about HER mixing up the times. I left in tears because of how rude she was. After that, I came in to find a spot of blood in my dress at the bottom where her and her team were hand sewing on lace to the bottom of my dress. She actually had the audacity to blame this blood spot on me... when obviously I hadn't even been in contact with the dress. She also told me she would put some fabric in the armpits of the dress to make it soft and never even did that. At my last dress fitting (a week before my wedding) she STILL hadn't finished my dress and told me I "had ants in my pants and need to calm down". Who wouldn't have "ants in their pants" when their dress isn't finished a week before their wedding? Not only that but at my last fitting she pricked her finger and got ANOTHER little spot of blood on the side of my dress. Finally (AND THE WORST PART OF ALL) she also was supposed to fix some snaps onto my clip on train (the favorite part of my dress) and after I FINALLY got to take my dress home, I try it on at my house (after asking her multiple times while I was there if she fixed the snaps and she assured me she had) only to find out she hadn't even fixed the snaps and my mother and grandma had to go to the fabric store to get clips and fix the snap theirselves. I was in such a rush to get out of there the last fitting because of how bad every other fitting was which is my mistake for not making her SHOW my she had fixed the snaps before I left. You would think she would told the truth though when she told me she had fixed them? Absolutely horrible customer service and a very upsetting experience thanks to Custom Alternations. Save your money and go somewhere where they will actually fix your dress and not make it worse.

Peggy pretty much took my dress apart and altered it to fit me better and you never would have known! I had a lot of bead work on my capped sleeves, I wanted my belt to match the beads on my sleeves and she did it perfectly! My moms dress had this horrible under layer that looked incomplete, Peggy took the top part of her dress apart and reconstructed it. She altered all of my bridesmaids dresses and my Grandma's (flower girl) dress. Her work is amazing and she gave me some great ideas to do with my dress later down the road!
