I chose Cynthia as our photographer for our elopement and wedding ceremony because her photos are warm, candid and intimate. I love her documentary-style work and especially her Love in Motion series. I also wanted to hire a photographer who was like me: Asian-American, grew up in NYC (knew the city well) and who also had a keen eye for what is elegant and beautiful. Cynthia takes the most amazing photos! If you like light, airy, romantic and natural photos, then she's the right photographer for you. I can't stop looking at my wedding photos as she made them so beautiful, I had a hard time picking the "best" ones to share with family/friends. She made an extra effort to catch the right lighting and come for a sunrise shoot, despite her busy schedule. I appreciate her attention to detail as she would fix a stray hair here or there, or listening to my requests for certain angles I preferred. She also knew how to make us both feel comfortable, keeping us natural in our photos. I ended up booking her for my post-wedding shoot, since she was not available my wedding day. Book her asap as she's in very high demand. I've loved the experience and the photos. I'm sure you will love it too!

My now wife and I decided to elope to NYC on very short notice. We quickly googled around and found Cynthia. She emailed us back very quickly, and we soon scheduled a video call to discuss details. She was not only very bubbly, friendly, and down-to-earth, but also extremely helpful and insightful. We talked through our thoughts and ideas and she provided very helpful insight and helped talk us through some necessary changes to our plans as well as offering several good options for hotels, photo and ceremony locations, and even several good officiators. She also let us know of some of the legal stuff we would need to look into and answered our questions about COVID restrictions in NYC. Overall, she was extremely knowledgeable and helpful. Despite the fairly short-notice, she was able to fit us and our ceremony in to her schedule. She was also very flexible! When we booked her, we knew the day we were going to have the ceremony, but we hadn’t finalized the ceremony time or location as we still had to confirm the time with the officiate and we needed to see the hotel balcony in person to see if it would be big enough or if we’d have to use a spot in Central Park that Cynthia knew of. Booking her and paying her was very easy too! She had us fill out and sign a simple electronic contract with common-sense clauses. She offered multiple easy payment options including chase quickpay, venmo, paypal, and zelle of which we decided to use venmo. Cynthia was very good about getting back to us quickly whenever we’d email her with any changes or information. We had to coordinate with both her and our officiate for the time and of the ceremony, for instance, and she was always very fast to respond. On the day-of, she and her assistant Kim showed up early and they were even nicer in person! She and Kim were even helping us figure out how we should do our little mini ceremony on our hotel suite balcony with just the two of us, our officiate, and helped us set up our webcasting setup for some friends and family who were watching via Zoom. Cynthia took us to all of the best places in Central Park and Kim helped carry my backpack with some water for the two of us. Even though I had paid for an extra hour, giving us 3 hours total of her time, the two of them actually ended up working a bit longer than that without charging us any extra! She shared a sneak peak photo or two with us to share on social media by the following day, and told us to expect all of the finalized photos within 8 weeks. She emailed us with the link to our photos on her online platform much sooner than that at 4 weeks from our ceremony! The website gallery she has set up is very easy to share with friends and family and includes options for saving either reduced or high-resolution photos to your cloud service such as Google Photos and to your computer. The gallery website’s prices are pretty steep, but there is a 20% discount for a couple weeks if you should choose to buy directly from it. For us, we’re content to get prints elsewhere since we have the high-resolution photos saved, but it’s nice to have the options! The photos are absolutely stunning! The compositions highlight her expertise and artistic eye and her craftsmanship is clearly evident in the elegant editing and curation. In total, she gave us 669 fully-edited high-resolution photos including several GIFs! We would recommend Cynthia Chung to anyone and everyone looking for an amazing photographer.

I am so grateful for Cynthia and I'd recommend her 1000x over to anyone looking for someone to capture their special moments! Looking through Cynthia's website actually helped me figure out how I wanted to get married in NYC, so she unknowingly gave us a lot of creative inspiration. And then she was just as great to work with- incredibly communicative, helped guide and shared advice on what to expect/how best to time out our elopement ceremony + shoot and made us feel incredibly comfortable at the shoot itself. Our engagement photography session was supposed to happen last year but was delayed because of COVID-19. Cynthia was very understanding and accommodating about the whole situation and we were able to reschedule for this year. Although we were quite nervous at the beginning of the session, she made us feel right at ease with her jokes and conversation. The weather that day was also less than ideal but she maintained a very positive attitude and our photos still turned out absolutely gorgeous! It was wonderful working with Cynthia and we cannot recommend her enough!

I had been following Cynthia on Instagram for some time and really loved her work. I was very excited that we were able to book her even though it was at somewhat short notice. Cynthia was very responsive and thorough in answering all our questions. On the day of our wedding, she was very patient with all our guests and really made us comfortable during our session. After months of agonizing and dragging our feet on what type of wedding we wanted, it became clear a simple elopement in the city where we met was the solution. Luckily, we were recommended Cynthia by a friend in the arts and despite it being a bit last minute, she was able to squeeze us into her schedule on the date we wanted. In typical NYC fashion, it rained (more like poured) on our day but our small crew had prepared umbrellas and was ready to see it though. They became the perfect accessory! The pictures came out romantic, sweet with a dash of melancholy - infused with the vibes of the city and reflective of our introverted selves. Where to begin, Cynthia was the absolute best to work with! Right from the beginning when we had a Skype interview, we knew she was the right fit for us with her positive energy and bright personality. She also was super flexible and instead of doing a traditional engagement photoshoot, she came to our engagement party and took photos of just the two of us and also our family and friends at the party. For our wedding, she was extremely professional and worked closely with our wedding planners, which made it a breeze for us with everything going on in the prep and lead up to the big day! She scouted our wedding location in advance too, which was super helpful--she truly went the extra mile. On the day of, her team was on-time and on top of the shot list we hoped to capture. Cynthia is AMAZING. The photographs she takes are stunning and special, and are a truly beautiful way to remember such an important moment, but it's so much more than that. She has the uncanny ability to be absolutely everywhere at once and yet be completely invisible-- she captured every single moment, even the ones we didn't know were happening, and did so without drawing the focus to her or even letting people know they were being photographed, which led to some amazing candid shots. She's also the absolute SWEETEST and so so easy to work with. She's super friendly and so you feel really relaxed around her, which leads to some incredible portraits. I highly recommend taking engagement photos with her in addition to day-of photography-- I love that ours captured a more casual side of us and even more of our favorite places, but it also gives you more of an opportunity to get used to working with Cynthia and being in front of the camera. I noticed a huge difference between the photos we took at the beginning and end of the engagement shoot, and then between those and our wedding day photos. We were SO comfortable day-of because of that extra time with Cynthia, and the photos definitely turned out better for it. Finally, Cynthia is super fun, and that comes across in her photography. She's very game to experiment with settings and props, and very willing to go along with whatever crazy suggestions you have for where you want to have your photo taken. It's hard to find the words to describe how special Cynthia made our wedding. We eloped on our 6 year anniversary in NYC which had been something I dreamed about since I was little - before ever moving to New York. It was just my husband and I and his best friend from high school who married us. It was so intimate and Cynthia fit right in - she immediately felt like a long-time friend. We had never had professional photos done before and Cynthia made them so easy. She was great at giving direction and I never felt awkward or too posed or out of place. So many of my favorite photos are ones she captured of us just chatting and laughing and when I look at them I'm instantly in that moment and feel like I just married my person all over again. My husband and I wanted a simple modern day elopement at the courthouse and after much research of the courthouses in New York, lighting and background was borderline abhorrent which presented us with a challege of wanting good photos and documentation but had to find the right photographer experience. Cue in Cynthia Chung, along my research! She had a blog of elopements she shot and they looked natural, organic and the pictures in the courthouse itself looked good! With her experience, she knew how to navigate the courthouse employees and knew what we wanted documented. Courthouse was short and sweet so we had plenty of time after to do more posey couple pictures and those turned out exceptional! I hired her for her experience in elopements and also for the gifs she makes! And she delivered with more than enough that I absolutely love! My husband doesn't like his pictures taken but he enjoyed the experience and the pictures themselves so much! My husband and I are based in the UK and eloped in NYC in February 2019. Booking Cynthia as our photographer was a major task checked off our list as photos were extremely important given that none of our friends and family were going to be there and we wanted to share our memories of the day with them through photos. She was warm and friendly and made us feel comfortable right away, it was like chatting to a friend. She was able to capture the entire day: from waiting for our number to be called so we could get married, to the 2 minute ceremony itself, us hailing a cab, and sessions at Dumbo and Greenwich village. A month later, we received the photos and we couldn't be happier, my husband especially likes the 'gifs', Cynthia is well known for her 'love in motion' shots and it's like having short video highlights of the day. Overall, we are very happy with Cynthia's professionalism and the product itself!

When we started wedding planning, the first thing we wanted to do was research photographers. I came across Cynthia's work on IG and immediately felt like she's the one for us! Cynthia's photographs speak for themselves, but beyond that, she is an incredible resource to have while planning a wedding. We really lucked out with Cynthia. She was great behind the camera, and made us feel comfortable and got a lot of great shots. She and her team were quickly welcomed into our special day and we were thrilled to have had them help us capture our special day.

Cynthia was awesome!! She and her team is very professional, fun and most of all produces awesome photos!! We had Cynthia for our engagement and wedding photos and they turned out beautifully. Very artistic! She is also extremely well organized so it made sifting through our photos very easily. Day of the wedding she took the lead and guided us and our videographers. She is also very open to my ideas and incorporated everything we wanted to do!

Cynthia is amazing. I usually dislike taking photos, but having Cynthia as our wedding photographer (and Martin as an assistant) was a dream! She made me, my husband, and our respective family/friends very comfortable. Cynthia is not only professional and highly talented, she is personable, warm and so incredibly easy to work with. We heard about Cynthia through a friend and couldn't be more grateful to have her as a photographer for our engagement shoot and wedding. Cynthia was professional, warm, knowledgeable, and fun from our very first conversation. She was very punctual in her responses and answered every one of my questions (and I had a lot!). We had so much fun during the engagement shoot. My husband are I are both very awkward in front of the camera and Cynthia made us feel comfortable through the whole process. She was exceptionally creative when it comes to seizing the best moments or spots for photos. Cynthia was also instrumental in helping us plan our day of schedule, you can really tell that she has so much experience when it comes to weddings and very accommodating to the changes we made throughout the process. She was also kind enough to go with me to the venue several days before the wedding (on probably the hottest day of the year) to discuss my vision and details. We couldn't have imagine our wedding day without Cynthia! She was SIMPLY AMAZING! We had so much fun during the bridal shoots, she got along so well with our bridal party and made everything so fun, which was so important because the day can get pretty hectic. She was amazing at capturing the details and intimate moments from our wedding. You can feel her enthusiasm that she loves her craft and job. We felt like we relived our wedding day when we got our pictures back! At the end of the day we felt that Cynthia wasn't just there to do her job but genuinely invested to make sure we have the day that we will always remember.
