Bacon House. Your review unfortunately misstates the facts of our dealings with you and paints an inaccurate and misleading picture of our operations. You had reserved the date of October 13, 2021, for your wedding. We kept this reservation on our calendar until you canceled it on September 6, 2021, barely a month before the planned wedding. You cited concerns about Covid as your reason for cancelling even though all previous DC government restrictions on holding events had been lifted by that time. While it was your prerogative to cancel the event, holding the reservation for you despite the high demand for dates in October prevented us from scheduling another wedding on that day. We had also put considerable staff time into planning for the event by that time. According to the clear terms of our contract, which you had agreed to, rental payments are considered non-refundable as soon as they are placed. Nevertheless, as a gesture of good will we proposed to go beyond our contractual obligation and offered you a partial refund of your payments. We offered you this partial refund on September 22, 2021. You were asked to sign the refund request form we provided and return it to us. You did not accept and return the form until March 22, 2022, a delay of six months. We offered to make the refund to the card that had been charged but you insisted on getting a check for the refund made out to a different name than that of the charged cardholder. After the check was prepared as you requested, you picked it up in person on May 20, 2022. You have received a partial refund, even though you were not entitled to any refund under the clear terms of your contract. As the above narrative indicates the primary problem in your receiving your refund was the six-month delay in your return of the required refund form. From our vantage point and given the step-by-step account above with evidence of all our correspondence, we feel that we have dealt with you fairly and professionally.
