Unscrupulous owner. He will cheat you.
Chad is super easy to work with and always answered my emails within minutes. The beauty is that you can bring in all of your own vendors and he does not nickel and dime you for anything. It is very inexpensive to rent. Your guests can walk to their hotel after the reception. we seated 137 guests with a buffet and had a large dance floor. Perfect night!
I'd kind of like to give the venue 4.5 stars, but since that's not an option I'll go the full 5! The only downside is VERY little is included in the space. Really just the tables, chairs and linens, and I brought in other chairs anyway because I wanted something a little higher quality. You even need your caterer to be prepared to provide water! But if you are prepared to bring in all your own stuff, this venue is the absolute perfect backdrop. We had endless compliments about our reception at the Dahlonega Market Place. It was completely charming, romantic, historic and sweet. Everything I dreamed of!
The Market Place is a simply beautiful venue. It was perfect for our afternoon reception! Chad was very friendly and even allowed us to move our decorations in the night before. The reception hall ended up looking lovely! The highboy tables that were requested were not present on the day of, but we were able to work around this and all in all were very pleased with the venue. If you are looking for a quaint venue in the North Georgia Mountains, I highly recommend The Market Place.
I typically do not write negative reviews, but in this instance I feel it is a must.
My fiancé and are currently in the process of planning a wedding. We saw The Dahlonega Market Place online, and we were immediately impressed. It is beautiful.
My fiancé and I scheduled a time to visit the venue, which, by the way, is already very difficult to do. We saw the venue, and it was still pretty though not quite as beautiful as the pictures. There were a few things we did not like. The chairs are cheap, the "bread kitchen" is an absolute disaster, and the overall set up is a bit inconvenient. The owner, Chad, explained that The Dahlonega Market Place is a very common venue for ceremonies and receptions, and that they often do flips from one to the other in very short amounts of time. Great news, I thought, since we wanted no portion of the wedding outside. He gave us a list of vendors, and we said we would talk it over and let him know. The same day, we were so excited that we decided to go ahead and put a deposit down. We did, and though it was not a large deposit, it was money nonetheless. He did not have a set amount we had to pay for a deposit. He did not have a date we had to have the remaining balance paid as long as we paid it by the wedding date. And the biggest warning sign of all, there was no contract... Because of previous reviews I had read, I understood that he was, as they say "laid back," and I assumed all of these things were just a product of his personality. I soon came to realize that this was probably not the case.
If you have ever considered planning a wedding in Dahlonega, PLEASE RECONSIDER. Not only was Chad very unhelpful in our pursuit to come up with a seating plan for the ceremony and other areas, his vendors were very indifferent. He has five preferred caterers, of those five, one was booked, one wanted to charge $50 per person, and the rest were unresponsive even after multiple emails and phone calls. I was told I would receive a call or an email, and no one would ever follow through. It was incredibly frustrating. Vendors not on his list stated that they were uncomfortable catering because the venue space is on the second floor, and there is no elevator. This seemed to be the biggest flaw of the venue considering our DJ also had concerns with getting his equipment up and down a flight of stairs.
ALSO, getting hotel blocks in Dahlonega is an absolute NIGHTMARE. Seriously, it is awful. We started planning our wedding a year out, and almost all of the hotels in Dahlonega were already booked for other weddings.
Overall, the space is pretty. It's rustic, and it's in a great area, but please, brides, save yourself the stress and do not book this venue. Even though there is no contract, we are still unable to get our deposit back, and even still, we have walked away to have the wedding elsewhere. This may be a great space for a reception, but please do not believe Chad when he says you can also pull of a ceremony.
Oh, and by the way, at our new venue, we were able to accomplish in ONE day what we had attempted to accomplish for MONTHS in Dahlonega - caterer, rehearsal dinner venue, multiple room blocks, etc. There ARE venues that are reasonably priced AND helpful. I promise.
We just had our wedding reception here and could not have been happier! Beautiful venue with great connections and very helpful. You will not be disappointed!
Mariana was the most wonderful person to work with. She was beyond helpful and my mother and I both feel that we gained a friend!
