One of my friends who got married last year referred me to Dancing Together as my now husband and I didn’t want to look like total fools on the dance floor at our wedding for our f...
irst dance. We signed up for 12 lessons as we made it a point to start learning 6 months out from our wedding, but Dancing Together also offers an introductory rate for your first lesson if that’s all you have time or inclination for. The appeal was that the lessons are private and take place in their studio in Pacific Beach, so we didn’t have to worry about stumbling around in front of others. While I’d taken dance for PE once upon a time in high school, my husband is not a dancer at all, so this was a stretch for us, but we were immediately put at ease at our first lesson with Miki. She is so kind, friendly, and most importantly, patient. Lesson by lesson, she put together a routine for us that was within our abilities but also managed to impress our friends and family the day of the wedding–and I’d say we looked good doing it too! We also carved out a handful of lessons to learn a sisters-brother dance for my husband and my father-daughter dance with my dad, and it was fun to learn different dances. Miki, thank you so much for your help.
Dancing Together also offers group classes once a month at their dance hall near USD where they focus on 1-2 styles of dance. We were lucky enough to debut our dance a few days before the wedding at one of these group classes, and it helped with our nerves the actual day of the wedding. Everyone in the class was very supportive and it was also fun to take our minds off the wedding for a bit and try different dance styles. We hope to go back in the future for other group classes!
My then fiance’s friend took a dancing lesson before her wedding and mentioned it to my then fiancee. We (fiancee and I) decided to take a discounted first lesson and then immedi...
ately signed up for a 12 lesson package. It was 110% worth it. Our instructor Miki, was amazing and put our nerves at ease. Each lesson built on the last and incorporated new moves. Miki clearly is an educator and a dancer. She took us from two people who could sway together and put together an amazing dance that impressed our guests. I am not a dancer and have 3 left feet and by the end felt comfortable with our dance. We did use a few lessons with practicing our groom-sister dance and her bride-father dance. At Miki’s encouragement towards the end of April/early May (our wedding was mid-May) she encouraged us to attend an open dancing event held monthly. We did and found their other instructors and guests equally supportive. They allowed us to practice our dance at the beginning of open dancing to settle our nerves in front of strangers. Highly recommend and would go back to both their open dancing events and use them for private tutorial.
My husband had a crazy idea to take dance lessons before our wedding-and I told him it was crazy. Turned out, it was one of our best wedding decisions! Rebecca is so patient and ex...
plains steps in a variety of ways so it’s easy to pick up. It was a great bonding experience in getting ready for the wedding. We chose to dance an East Coast swing for our first dance, so it was a pretty involved dance but Rebecca helped us look like seasoned dancers! Our guests continue to talk about how fun the dance was and how it really got the reception started in the best way possible. It was lively and got everyone up at the end! Thank you, Rebecca!
Silke and Rebecca are amazing teachers and so patient with us!! The helped us to perfect our fist dance as husband and wife. Couldn’t have asked for a better experience!
Silke is amazing! My husband and I really enjoyed our private lessons with her for our choreographed first dance. She was wonderful to work with
My husband and I worked mainly with Silke for a choreographed wedding dance and on occiassion with Rebecca as well. We loved working with both instructors and have so many wonderfu...
l things to say about them! Our dance turned out wonderfully and seeing the professional photos of my dress swirling in the wind during our first dance is the best visual memory of such a wonderful day! We couldn’t be more happy than to have taken lessons here and feel blessed for the patience and friendship that was offered to us during the stressful planning!
Rebecca was an awesome instructor! She was always so nice, patient, and FUNNY! My now husband and I are horrible dancers...we were never on the same page...it always took us about ...
30 mins to get into the groove of things but she taught us a dance that was easy enough to learn but also added a touch of wow that she knew would impress our guest. Our first dance went great, without a hitch! and we have only her to thank! My husband was hesitant to take dance lessons to begin with but now he even wants to go back to learn salsa!
Rebecca makes you feel comfortable and relaxed. You may not think its that important to take lessons for a first dance but it truly makes a difference!
They made our first dance incredible!
My husband and I took dance lessons to prepare for our first dance. I was mortified we, I mean I would look silly or we would look like a high school prom couple. Rebecca was our m...
ain instructor and she was absolutely incredible. SO patient and great at explaining. We worked with Isabella as well who was also wonderful. Our first dance was a hit and we looked great! We would like to return for additional lessons since we had such a great time.
We had 6 lessons in 1 week and Isabella was great and patient with us everyone loved our salsa dance :) and we are very thankful with Isabella Konold.
Isabella was our instructor--Ask for her! My husband wasn't thrilled about dance lessons AT ALL, but it was really important to me to have a rocking first dance. Isabella is so co...
ol and down to earth, and she instantly connected with us and made my husband feel at ease. She was able to work with the song of our choice and I was able to be sexy but at the same time it was sweet and a fun dance.
We had private lessons and learned quickly. Dance lessons are not cheap, but their prices were comparable
Rebecca got to know us as a couple, listened to the music we had chosen and helped us to learn a modified foxtrot that went beautifully with our music. She had a great sense of hu...
mor and was very patient with us. She did not try to choreograph anything (that's not what we wanted), but just taught us some basic dance moves that we could show off with on the dance floor. We hadn't told anyone we had taken dance lessons and everyone was so excited to see us actually moving together and doing spins and a dip at the end. Also, the experience was fun for us and we want to continue taking lessons!
