I practically grew up in the clothing industry—starting at 16 at the iconic Dash’s Western, in Washington D.C. Then moving onto Dash's Generation Gap, followed by Dash's Designers. From the very first day, I knew this was my true calling. When my family’s four stores in Georgetown on M Street closed in 1987, I already had a solid foundation in men's wear, but I was eager to learn more—especially in the world of custom tailoring. So, I left DC behind and headed to New York, immersing myself in the art of bespoke clothing at the renowned Custom Shop. Next, I dived into the Big & Tall market, joining Repp Big & Tall stores—one of the most rewarding chapters of my career. There was nothing more fulfilling than helping clients transform their wardrobes and, in turn, their confidence. This led me to the realm of luxury menswear, where I worked with the crème de la crème—prestigious brands like Brioni, Kiton, Hermes, and Prada. It was here I truly honed my skills as a clothier, learning not just how to design impeccable garments, but how to cultivate lasting relationships with clients—and how to treat (or in some cases, not treat) them with the utmost respect. After 18 years of hands-on experience across every facet of the industry, I was ready. In 2005, I took the leap and opened my own shop, with a vision to make a lasting impact on the world of men’s fashion—and a commitment to crafting the finest clothing for every client who walks through the door.

First off, Dash's does not do tux rentals, but if you are like me and going to a lot of weddings and want to buy, this is the place to go. Victor will take care of you and put you in a tux that fits right, not one that looks like your dad handed down to you. I purchased the ties for my groomsmen, father and father-in-law, and myself from Dash's... He took the time to go through a lot of options then special ordered them for us. Quick turn around and really nice to work with a shop that has one employee, the owner, versus a big box store that just wants to get you in and out. So, if you need a tux, I suggest making the purchase because you will look better and be more happy because you are not sweating your butt off in polyester. And if you buy, check out Dash's.

Victor is a liar. I read another review where his response was he was not white to appease a black woman. Believe me he is white. I worked with him for over 10 years and he is also a thief. Beware!

I would not recommend Dash's to anyone. My experience has been disorganized, dishonest, discriminatory, and unprofessional.
I was initially sized for a custom tux shirt early June 2024 for my wedding on July 26, 2024. I paid $300 for the shirt. The shirt was not ready until August 8 and the shirt did not fit correctly. I knew there was a chance the shirt wouldn't be ready in time, however, I was told by Dash's that it was possible. I ended up purchasing a shirt from Brooks Brothers for my wedding that fit perfectly without any alterations needed.
There was a major issue with the upper button/section of the shirt that you wouldn't expect from a custom shirt.
I took the shirt back to Dash's on October 12 and the owner Victor assured me that they would get it fixed.
On November 2, I returned to the store after being told the shirt was ready. When I arrived at the store, Victor told me there was a mistake and the shirt wasn't ready. He said they would have to send it back to the manufacturer.
I did not hear back from the store until January 8, 2025 - in which I received a text letting me know that the shirt was ready and that they've been trying to get in contact with me. Prior to this, I never received a call or text with an update. Nonetheless, I proceeded to go back to the store to pickup the shirt, only for Victor to tell me it wasn't ready. He told me that there's a piece he was looking for on amazon and other sites that he couldn't find. He went on to ask me to look for that piece as well. Then he alluded to my height as being an issue. Mind you, Victor is an inch taller than me. Not only that, it was a custom shirt. So that's a poor excuse.
At this point, I am frustrated because I paid $300 for a custom shirt that wasn't done correctly. Till this day, I have yet to receive the shirt. I've requested a refund and Victor refuses to give me one. His reasoning - "they are a small business." There has been no attempt to make things right by resizing for a shirt, or offering me anything to make up for the mishap.
