h so we had to cancel the wedding the next day because she was still in the hospital and all wedding decor was in her car and get completely destroyed. Michael reached out to us saying it was no problem to reschedule, but as soon as we decided to cancel instead of reschedule to help my mom pay her medical bills, Michael completely cut all contact. He will not answer any emails, calls to his cell, or office phone from me or my fiance. We know we do not get the deposit back, and would have even understood if he reached out and said explained about not getting a full refund, but he didn't. He completely ghosted us once we mentioned getting any money back at all. Completely unprofessional, I would not recommend them to anyone at all. This whole situation was so upsetting, and handled terribly, I had no problems with any of my other vendors at all.

As our wedding day DJ, I was expecting that our DJ would make an effort to ask us the basic questions like how we met, how my husband proposed, etc. which they did not put the effort into doing prior to our wedding. We only had one phone consultation and it felt very rushed and impersonal. That being said, the DJ that we had at our wedding was professional, but he missed the mark on several details throughout the evening. Our grand entrance song was wrong and our first dance song was cut off before we had the chance to do our lift that we had been practicing for months ahead of the wedding. Those missed details were pretty disappointing, but all in all Decorative Sound provided a pretty good DJ service with a few hiccups throughout our reception. They allowed us to customize our song list which was great and only took requests from my husband and I during the entire reception.

The only reason I am putting four stars is because he definitely played more music for the older crowd than music I wanted to dance to, which was contrary to our wish list. He also was not aware of some of the changes that had been made and the acoustics with him speaking in a mask was not ideal (required by venue for all vendors). However, that confirmation would have been nice to have before the wedding day. Our DJ had received our songs and initial timeline information from Michael and overall did a good job. Pros: The dance floor was full all night, including during our cocktail hour with all the kids! He did a great job catering to our eclectic tastes, playing everything we and our guests wanted to hear…electronic music, country, love songs, classic music, funk, even a few Halloween songs! Towards the end of the night, he took a few requests from some of our friends for songs I hadn’t thought to add, which made the night even more fun. We received a CD with our reception songs, a nice touch. There were a few cons: We don’t know if it was the audio system, the acoustics of our venue, or the fact that the DJ wore a mask while speaking (maybe a combo of all three), but the speaking was very muffled. It was often difficult to understand what he was saying when he was cueing up some of the formal dances (e.g., father/daughter, mother/son, anniversary dance, etc.). This meant that people sometimes missed participating/viewing. He did not appear to have the latest timeline information from our wedding planner and accidentally cued an exit that we had cut from the plan. We were also asked during our pre-planning meeting which drinks we’d like to have waiting for us when we walked into our reception; however, there were no drinks ready or offered to us. Minor things, but worth noting. Overall, we were happy with Decorative Sound and would recommend their services!
