Living in St. Louis, I felt that a lot of the venues in the city were the same - Overpriced and too rigid. On a whim, we visited DRV, craving a different experience. We instantly felt this was the place for our reception, mixing laidback outdoor vibes with class! From the moment we inquired about holding our wedding reception here, we were greeted with friendly staff and put in touch with Hannah, our wedding coordinator. She knocked my socks off with honest communication, fast response time and overall organization. She was so so helpful as we were planning our wedding and we are so grateful! The event staff were also very helpful and friendly. The venue was clean, everyone was timely and very reasonably priced. I also appreciated that everything was included, from tables to linens to glassware. I'd choose DRV every time! I love the idea of being able to celebrate our wedding anniversary at the same place we held our reception!

Defiance Ridge Vineyards is a winery wedding venue located in Defiance, MO. With more than 42 acres of land, this property houses a lush vineyard, green landscapes, and a peaceful lake area. The vineyards are also a romantic venue for an intimate vow renewal ceremony to celebrate your love all over again.
Hannah Youker is the event director at Defiance Ridge Vineyards, and she loves helping people bring their wedding vision to life. She provides support from the very beginning, guiding you through the entire process. She and the events team here have years of experience in helping people celebrate their milestones. They want to help you create memories you can treasure for a lifetime. The winery is just 10 minutes away from Highway 40/64 and is also close to Highway 94.
Defiance Ridge Vineyards can comfortably accommodate events with up to 300 guests. You can choose from both indoor and outdoor spaces to host your ceremony and reception. You can host a tranquil ceremony by the lake for an effortlessly breathtaking backdrop. Outdoor festivities are also possible at the Gazebo, Terrace, and Veranda. The Pavilion, meanwhile, offers a climate-controlled setting for indoor events, which you can transform with lighting and decor. A full catering menu is offered by the vineyard's culinary team for added convenience when planning your day. The chef is happy to help you choose the menu that best fits your vision for the day, with each dish made from seasonal, fresh produce.

isting our bridesmaids with bustling my dress (thank you Sarah!) to handling every detail seamlessly behind the scenes (thank you Hannah!), the level of care and attentiveness did not go unnoticed. We heard nothing but wonderful feedback from our guests about the staff as well.
The venue itself is stunning, and the team did a beautiful job with the tablecloths and overall setup — everything looked elegant and perfectly put together. Because our wedding was Christmas-themed, Defiance Ridge kindly left their holiday décor in place at our request, which added so much warmth and magic to the atmosphere.
The food was phenomenal, and we continue to hear rave reviews from our guests. The bar service was equally fantastic, and the team was incredibly accommodating with our signature drink selections, executing them perfectly.
Overall, we could not be happier with how our wedding turned out. Defiance Ridge Vineyards played a huge role in making our day so special, and we are endlessly grateful to their team for helping bring our vision to life.

of ceremony, reception layout, food, vendors, almost everything, they offered so many different choices to really make it feel like our own. They worked with us on so many little things: making custom signature drinks, letting us bring in decor as soon as their schedule allowed, working with us to schedule decorating and having the rehearsal dinner. The proximity to RTE 94 also worked well, it wasn’t too far away from the STL area, but far away enough that it felt like a fairy tale adventure. All this, including the gorgeous vineyards on the property, made for a perfect place for our wedding.
The real star of DRV is Hannah, the event coordinator. She was absolutely phenomenal. She was communicative, detail oriented, organized, fun to be around and work with, and just an amazing person. She was wonderful during the planning process, offering guidance and expertise but also collaboration. We never felt like we were just something to check off her to do list, even though she probably had a million things to do. On the day, she worked with us through inclement weather and made the ceremony run smoothly, from start to finish (even with the downpour in the last five minutes of the ceremony). Throughout the whole planning process, day of, and after, we felt like Hannah wasn’t just an event coordinator, but a friend. We would not have had such an amazing experience without Hannah. To everyone at DRV, thank you for making our wedding day the best day of our lives.

have the same charm as a spring or summer event, but the setting was absolutely beautiful. The cozy atmosphere paired with the vineyard views created such a magical winter vibe.
All of our guests raved about how delicious the food was. Every dish was served hot, fresh, and perfectly plated. On top of that, all of our vendors commented on how easy and seamless it was to work with the venue, which made the day stress-free for us.
A special shoutout to Hannah! She was phenomenal from start to finish. She made the planning process smooth, was super responsive, and genuinely cared about making sure everything went off without a hitch. I can’t recommend this place enough for a winter wedding (or any season, honestly). It was everything I hoped for and more!

All of the food and drinks went through the venue and it made our day so much easier, not having to worry about a caterer showing up or being late. The food was excellent, our guests couldn’t stop talking about it and the drinks were wonderful as well. The spaces for the ceremony and reception were gorgeous and enough room for all our guests. We had our ceremony outside, however if the weather went bad, they could move all of it inside quickly and easily. The venue also has wonderful outdoor spaces for photos with your bridal party. I cant recommend going with Defiance Ridge Vineyards enough. It was the best decision we made all of our wedding planning!

ere someday. We had our wedding here in September and it was truly perfect. The staff was so knowledgeable and timely that I didn't have to worry about a thing. The Event Coordinator Hannah was fantastic and so nice to work with. She answered all of my questions and helped keep us organized leading up to the wedding and the day of. The venue is stunning and so willing to work with you to ensure the day is fit to you! We also decided to add fireworks to our package and surprised all of our wedding guests and it was SO worth it! If you are on the fence, just do it. Our guests loved it and it really set the tone and got everyone up and on the dance floor afterwards. I seriously wish I could relive our day over and over and I wouldn't have changed a single thing!

ble. Planning was super easy and I pretty much just answered any of the questions Hannah had for me, and then when I got there everything was set up beautifully. The food was so good and, of course, the wine was top notch. Our photos from the grounds were so breathtaking, and I loved that I didn’t have to decorate very much because the place is already so beautiful! Great outdoor and indoor space so you don’t feel like you’re getting cheated if you had bad weather on your wedding day, because it’s just as nice for everyone to be inside. Also, as a cake decorator who delivers to this venue a lot, they are one of our favorites to work with and we see so many happy couples having the same experience as I did every weekend!

re and every time we had a great time. The guests all raved about how good the food and drinks were and the fireworks over the beautiful venue were magical. The setups inside at the tables were beautiful.
Hannah did a great job facilitating with our wedding coordinator and the other vendors and everything went smooth. She did extra accommodations for the wedding party and families for some special circumstances that made everything go so smooth. My 96-year-old Mom who recently had a dental plate installed and they worked with her so she could have a meal she could enjoy. There were other similar requests. She made accommodations for a photo booth close to the dance floor, set up the timing of the fireworks, worked with the band so they could have inside music and outside music for all the guests, provided the perfect outdoor location at the lake for the ceremony, and on and on. Any special requests we had; Hannah tried to accommodate.
I would highly recommend if you want a beautiful outdoor wedding and the reception all together to have your wedding at Definance Ridge.
We will remember the wedding forever. Thank you Hannah and Defiance Ridge Team! You truly made the wedding so special!

They were able to make small changes quickly when needed and it never seemed like an inconvenience to them. Most importantly, the staff was seamless on the day of our wedding! Food was served quickly, it was delicious, the staff was so eager to please us and our guests. Ceremony was outside on the patio and beautiful! The reception space was great, plenty of space and perfect for my whimsical setting. The food was AMAZING. All my guests raved about how good the food was.
All of the staff were kind and helpful.
Everything went so smoothly. Ceremony and reception at the same location, catering and bar service all done by DRV made everything a breeze for planning and made for a very relaxing wedding day knowing Lauren had all the details taken care of.
The bridal suite was very nice and a great spot for our wedding party to gather after pictures and mini dance party before the ceremony.
Great cottage core aesthetic for bride/bridal party getting ready pictures. The grounds and vineyards were great for pictures. I have zero negative comments. Our day was perfect and even my anti-wedding husband said everything was so perfect and he had the best time!

Even with a little sprinkle of rain, the team was able to get our ceremony set up outside and started just in time for a rainbow and sunset. If you have it in your budget and want to surprise your guest I would highly recommend doing the fireworks. It was such a special moment and the display was magical (and a perfect photo opportunity). I seriously can’t say enough good things about this place and the people. Throughout the whole process everyone we talked to was professional and friendly. The whole venue is gorgeous and has the perfect atmosphere for a wedding. The only thing I wish they could do is figure out how to reverse time so we could relive it one more time.

The transition from the open winery for the public until 5pm to our reception at 6pm was seamless. The staff was gracious and helpful the whole night including helping us take down our decorations at the end. The food was delicious. I would recommend Michelle and Defiance Ridge to anyone looking to plan a beautiful wedding any time of year.

area and the reception space. The food was AMAZING and we received so many compliments from our guests regarding how good it was! The bar service was also on point. Several of our other vendors even commented on how accommodating and friendly every DRV teammember was while they were setting up. Last but not least, we had such a positive experience working with Michelle, the wedding coordinator. She gave us great advice, was always available for any and all questions throughout the planning process (never making us feel bad for asking so many questions), and was a great point person to help us navigate everything leading up to the big day. She is seriously amazing and DRV is lucky to have her. We would absolutely recommend DRV for your wedding ceremony and reception, or just the reception. I had planned for an outside ceremony, but we had a cold day in March, so we were able to have a beautiful ceremony inside and Michelle and her team quickly flipped the room. We got so many compliments on how good the food was, and how much fun our guests had at the reception. I couldn’t imagine a better venue. Everything was perfect!

The winery is beautiful and there are so many great places to take pictures. The food was so good it was hard to choose what to put on the menu for our events. I loved the indoor-outdoor space that was perfect for the uncertain weather in October. Everything was amazing I highly recommend getting married there or just going on any other day for great wine and food!

our parents had about the process and the venue. She made sure we understood everything and had all our bases covered. Additionally, because of COVID we chose to reschedule from October 2020 to Nov 2021. We were extremely lucky she had dates available, and we were so grateful that she was so flexible with our decision to push it back. She even stayed part of the night to make sure everything was running smoothly!
The food was also absolutely amazing, everything we tasted at the menu tastings was delicious it made it hard to choose! They were luckily very accommodating with the food menu offering vegetarian, kids, and were sensitive to the food allergies of our guests. Everyone loved the food and our signature cocktail, a sangria, was a big hit too!
The room is super spacious with the fireplaces on either side of the room, which kept things toasty even in November. Additionally, she allowed us to take some beautiful pictures on the property beforehand!
Everyone was talking about how beautiful everything was! Everything was simply perfect! My only wish is that the night would have lasted longer because it seemed like the night just flew by!

us in early so we could finish in time. Michelle was great to communicate with via email. She gave great input when needed that helped make things easier with the photographer and DJ. Michelle made me feel at ease through out the whole day and into the night. She knew where to find people, when we needed to be certain places and how to make sure things ran smoothly. The venue was absolutely gorgeous. We had access to use the whole vineyard for pictures and Michelle made sure to have the staff clean the leaves from around the property. The food was absolutely INCREDIBLE. Days after the event, guests were messaging my husband and I letting us know how amazing the food was. The bar was staffed well and the wine was a hit as always. I would get married here 1000x over. Michelle even worked with my mom to surprise my husband and I with a firework show. This is the best venue and I am so happy I got to spend the best day of my life at my favorite place. We are so very thankful for the staff at Defiance Ridge.

It made my life so much easier when I knew Michelle was in charge and she would do nothing short of an incredible job! This venue location is absolutely gorgeous!! Talk about amazing photo opportunities, we were able to have our first look IN THE VINEYARD! It was so romantic and the pictures were incredible! Having an outdoor (but covered) venue is perfect when your worried about planning a wedding during COVID! The breeze on the dance floor in the evening was so perfect! Michelle and her staff will make your day everything you've dreamed of for a perfect winery wedding!

elle is attentive, easy to get ahold of, kind, and one of the most hard working women ever! She and the rest of the DRV team truly make it their goal to ensure each bride and groom have the wedding of their dreams. ALSO- wedding food is usually so-so, but even a month later people are telling us how amazing the food was at DRV during our reception. To any bride considering DRV- please believe me when I say it’s worth it!! Ps- opt for their fireworks display! It was a huge hit!!

can make it happen. She's also enjoyable to work with! We had a lot fun in the planning process and working with DRV. We were overwhelmed with the table arrangements and all the options available, but Michelle helped SO much. Every time we reached out with questions, she had multiple solutions.
The venue is absolutely beautiful, it had everything we could possibly wanted. The view and setting is picturesque, all of our guests were impressed! As we're getting our pictures back, I'm just stunned.
The reception area is beautiful, the open sides allow for views of the grounds, the string lights give the best ambiance, and they were super flexible on the layout and setup of the area.
The food and drinks were incredible. Numerous guests keep reaching out to us to tell us that this was the best wedding food they've ever had!
Again, I cannot say enough positive things about Defiance Ridge. It was the setting I've dreamed about for our wedding and I'm just so grateful for the entire experience. We will definitely be back as guests and will be celebrating all future anniversaries here!

m so glad I followed through! I don't know whether or call it luck, fate, or something else, but we had the most perfect wedding here.
The staff – especially Michelle – are absolutely amazing. Everyone is so sweet and helpful. Wedding planning and the big event itself were a breeze in big part because of them. Michelle answered all my questions and was there the day of to make sure everything ran smoothly.
On top of that, you really get it all at Defiance Ridge: gorgeous views, the ideal outdoor ceremony spot, and an air-conditioned reception space that lets you keep that outdoor feel while staying cool in the summer. Our wedding happened to be on a record-breakingly hot day in June (I think it hit 100) and everyone said the reception was great.
And the food! Our guests were so impressed with their meals, everything at Defiance Ridge is delicious. Michelle and the kitchen staff are super accommodating of dietary restrictions. Plus you get to take advantage of all the delicious wines and craft beers.
It's also LGBTQ+ friendly for any other same-sex couples looking a venue. Everyone on-site was extremely welcoming and happy to host an event with two brides.
I genuinely do not have one bad thing to say about the place!
