We had our wedding in the Leprino Family Atrium at the Denver Museum of Nature and Science. From start to finish, it was an incredible experience. The event manager (Vincent) was an absolute pleasure to work with. He was so helpful during the planning process, and was present and attentive during the entirety of our reception. It was such a unique venue for wedding reception, with one of the most breathtaking views of downtown Denver and the mountains. Our guests were blown away. On the day of and during our event, all of the museum event staff went above and beyond to providing exceptional service. The food was amazing and the bartenders were fantastic.
Everything we wanted and envisioned for our wedding happened. Molly was wonderful and communicated with us every step of the way. While we had a hiccup with the rehearsal, it went very well beyond that. The lighting, the music, and the dinner were all wonderful. Our guests were stunned that you could have a wedding here and I wouldn't change anything about what we did.
The Museum was not only a really cool venue, it also was an exceptionally nice one.
Molly, our on site coordinator was amazing, she was super detail oriented, set up everything we requested immediately and in writing, was very professional through the whole thing, and didn't miss a single detail for the ceremony.
The staff was amazingly attentive. The food was excellent. And oh, by the way it's a FREAKEN MUSEUM, meaning you can get your wedding picture in front of a T-Rex! And it's one of the best views in Denver. And there's a T-Rex.
The only thing that was a little weird to keep in mind is this venue is used to doing high cost fundraisers, so it's almost too elegant and the staff is almost too perfect, so our wedding did turn out a little fancier than I pictured it in my mind, but that's not really a bad thing.
BEST VENUE EVER!
We chose this venue for its location and sentimental value. I have always loved the museum, and they offer different space options for events. We choose the Leprino Family Atrium, and couldn't have been more pleased with the view of downtown Denver and the Rockies.
You have the option to open exhibits for your wedding to keep your guests entertained. The staff were very easy to work with and the planning to the day-of was extremely smooth and well organized.
They provide the food and alcohol as well, so you don't have to worry about extra vendors. They offer a lot of variety with the food and drink options, and cater to most special needs if you have them.
This venue is fantastic for those who want a nerdy/elegant wedding!
My husband and I originally met at the museum 3 years before we got married, so it was the natural location for our wedding reception. We had the reception on the West side of the museum, with a lovely view of the park, city and mountains. We were able to use the 4th floor patio for the cocktail hour as we were lucky enough to have 70 degree weather in April. The staff the evening of the wedding were fantastic. The food is on the more expensive side and you have to use their alcohol, but everything was delicious and worth the price. I had multiple people tell me it was the best wedding food they have ever had. It was also nice to know that although there may have been fewer options for dining because you have to use their catering service, all of the food is delicious and we had very little stress over choosing the food and beverages.
The down side to the museum is the lack of help that is available. The event coordinator does the minumum work necessary and is often not helpful. I had complaints from my vendors, and more than once she said she was unable to help me with a request I had. We did not hire a specific wedding planner, so it may be she is used to working more with coordinators than directly with brides, but it appears from the other reviews that even people with coordinators had similar experiences. If I were to work with the museum again I may request to work with another staff member - or ensure that you are very clear with expectations from the beginning.
Overall, the wedding was beautiful. The food was delicious. You cannot ask for a more beautiful location in the Denver area. There is no question that I would choose this location again, just may go about it in a slightly different way if I was doing it again.
Molly and her entourage were amazing and easy to deal with. She was always available over phone and email which was essential for us as we planned from NYC.
A truly stunning and unforgettable spot.
Also, good in house catering.
I used the museum as my wedding venue this summer. The view is absolutely gorgeous, but the experience through out the whole process from when we signed the contract to the day was a little frustrating. I am not the type of person that likes to complain in fact I NEVER write reviews, but I wanted to just give a heads up to other brides that use this venue. There are lots and lots of fees that are associated with the using the museum like security and police officers and service fees and cake cutting fee's even though we had cupcakes....The catering staff was awesome, but the head event planner lady was just a nightmare to work with. We had to remind her several times of things we wanted done and even the day of things weren't done like we had told her. Also she was not there to help with our rehersal or help at all the day of. She just basically created the contract and room diagrams and that is it. They are also very strict on decor and food you bring it and vendors you use etc. We couldn't have a candy bar unless they did it, we couldn't even have cnady in our favors because we can't bring food in unless through them. Again it was a gorgeous venue, but for how much we paid to have that venue we were a little frustrated with all the little things that kept popping up that we had to pay and had to change, etc.
My husband and I got married and used the West side of the museum for our reception. We had a wonderful experience with them overall! There are four levels on that side of the museum. We used the main floor for dinner, gift/guest book tables, and we had the Space Odyssey opened after dinner. The second floor is where we held cocktail hour in the Australia Exhibit room, and also the dance floor and cake were located here. On the third floor they have a room that is converted into the bridal suite, however there was no where for the guys to get ready. On the fourth floor they have a Sky Terrace and we ended up doing our first look pictures here. The views were amazing! My only complaints would be that not everything was opened all the time. I had a wedding planner so I'm not sure if there were miscommunications, but the Sky Terrace closed at 5pm when the museum closed so the guests weren't able to go up there. I'm assuming this is because we didn't pay for it, but I was told it would be opened for guests the entire time. Also, we were not informed that the Space Odyssey and the Australia room wouldn't be opened the entire time. They closed the Australia room right after dinner was served and the Space Odyssey wasn't opened until dinner was over. I was under the impression they would be opened during the entire event. Again, this could have just been because my planner didn't inform me, but it was a little annoying for guests who didn't get to view all the exhibits in time. Another thing that was a little annoying was the catering. They served us at our sweetheart table first, and then began serving from the back of the room instead of the front so our bridal party and families ended up being served last. They also kept trying to take away my plate and I hadn't finished eating. We got up to take a few sunset pictures and my meal was gone. Other than that everything went really well. The food was good, the views are spectacular as long as the weather is nice, and I couldn't imagine a better place to have my wedding.
The Museum made everything look classy, tasteful and unforgettable. They were very responsive with questions, and our guests are still talking about the beauty of the location. The outside was a fantastic location for pictures as well! It was a dream come true.
We got married at the Atrium on the west side of the museum. There is an excellent view of the rockies and downtown Denver. Dinner was served in an exhibit hall which was completely unique. The food was excellent.
My husband and I picked this location for the breathe taking view of the city and mountains and the uniqueness of the venue. The wedding was beautiful, but the coordinator was less than friendly and the staff the night of the wedding was not what I would consider great either. There were also a lot of hidden costs and restrictions that were not conveyed to us during the initial consultation, and then once we signed a contract, all the restrictions and fees started to add up. The thing that we could believe the most was that we were allowed to offer our guest 3 entree choices, but we were only allowed to try 2 @ the tasting. When we asked to go back and try a third, they said yes, but we had to write them a check for $19 in order to do so. I was floored!! We were spending $17,000 at the museum for the wedding and they actually made us pay to try another entree. This was just 1 of the many hindrances of our experience. The coordinator that we worked with was never particularly rude, but did not do anything to help enhance our wedding experience, and at times was passively condescending to some of our ideas. I would recommend the venue because it is gorgeous, but just be aware and ask a million questions before you sign anything!!
Our wedding reception at DMNS turned out great. many guests commented on the unique space, and the fantastic view from all levels of the Leprino atrium. The food was great too- appetizers, meal, and dessert were all delicious. However, we had a number of miscommunications with the planning and catering staff. They gave the distinct impression that we were "just another event," which I suppose is true but still not great customer service at a supposedly "higher end" venue. Simple errors were always quickly corrected, but having to take the time to double check their work didn't help my stress levels! I've been assured that a few mistakes the day of the event (discarding leftover cake and favors) are not standard policy, so maybe we just caught them on an off night? In the end, I don't think anyone but my parents and I noticed, and we've all got plenty of good memories to outweigh the less than stellar.
The museum is a wonderful, unique venue for a wedding reception. All of our guests loved it. The west side has a rooftop patio, with the best view of Denver! The atrium is a great area for dinner & dancing, with moonlight showing through the windows on the ceiling. Molly Fortune was great to work with. Menu & drink pricing could be more affordable, but that was our only complaint.
We couldn't have asked for a better venue or staff. We had our wedding reception on the west side of the museum. Cocktail hour on the Sky Terrace overlooking City Park, complete with a backdrop of the city and mountains and a gorgeous sunset was amazing. The Italian buffet was delicious. Having the dance floor and DJ on the first level overlooking the park couldn't have been better. We were really happy with the museum.
Only downsides are that there are a lot of fees you don't have control over - security, etc. We paid extra to have the reception to until midnight rather than 11 p.m. They also charged us a cake-cutting fee, even though we served cupcakes. When trying to dispute that, we were told it's a fee for bringing in outside food (though we were still charged $1 per person).
My husband and I loved this venue, and our guests still rave that it was stunning and elegant. There are two areas you choose from - we chose the atriums for both our ceremony and our reception. Brian is the catering manager for the night of - he is amazing! The food was delicious (some of our friends said it was the best reception meal they had every had), and everything ran smoothly and professionally the day of because of him. Molly is the current event coordinator there. She is quite busy and not as involved as we had thought she would be - for example, we were surprised she would get a little annoyed if we asked too many questions. However, as long as you understand that she is there simply to set up showing appointments and not much else, the event space was convenient, beautiful, and accommodating. We had 200 guests, and the layout was perfect for that number. It stormed the day of our wedding, and you can not believe the background that created for our ceremony. There's a full glass wall and high glass ceiling and you could see the clouds breaking as the sun set. Beautiful! For our numbers, we found this to be an affordable option compared to other venues we visited considering all that was included. Also, it was quite convenient for our guests to get to (almost all were from out of state), and you have the large parking lot all to yourselves!
The Denver Museum of Nature and Science was an amazing venue. Not only was the planner amazing but everything went off with out a hitch. They made the whole night special and everyone was extremely nice. You have to use their catering but the food was really good.
That was the sentiment from all of our guests. The Museum was a huge part of that!
We used the Leprino Atrium side and used 3 floors. The terrace for cocktail hour, buffet dinner on the bottom floor, and dancing on the 2nd floor. Everyone loved moving around. The glass windows gave a great view of the sunset and the mountains!
The staff and Molly were great to work with! The space fee was expensive, but the food and beverage prices were unbelievably affordable!
It was an amazing place to have our reception. Plus we got killer pictures out in the park!
Amazing space, coordinator was very helpful, guests loved the space as well.
We rented out the Leprino Family Atrium and the Space Odyssey exhibit for our ceremony and reception. I got nothing but compliments about how much fun everyone had, and where else can your guests have dinner in a rainforest and then go try to dock a space shuttle? The aesthetics of the Sky Terrace and Atrium are a little bare bones and industrial, but I have simple tastes and my husband is a metalworker, so that actually appealed to us. We just wish we'd had more time to play in the Museum ourselves!
The west atrium was where we had the reception. The natural scenery of City Park, the Fountain and the Rocky Mountains were enough to blow my guests away. During the night and well after the wedding people were still commenting on what an amazing venue it was. They provide tables, chairs, basic linens, catering (which is really good). They staff was really nice and helpful. Its a one stop shop that was WELL WORTH IT!
