PLANNING EVERY DETAIL SO YOU CAN ENJOY EVERY MOMENT
Boutique wedding planning for Charlottesville, Richmond & Northern Virginia couples
Engagement is one of life’s sweetest seasons. It should be savored, not stressed about. But you’ll soon find (if you haven’t already) that overwhelm is inevitable for the couples who juggle wedding planning with a burgeoning career and overeager family members.
You deserve to enjoy this time. And our job is to make that possible.
Whether you’re dreaming of a lavish reception for 300 at a sprawling Charlottesville winery or envisioning an elegant and sophisticated loft wedding for 50 in downtown Richmond, no detail is too minute for our dedicated and experienced team.
Details Make the Difference
86,400. That’s how many seconds are in your wedding day. And you’re going to want to remember every single one of them when the day arrives.
But you won’t be able to if you’re already busy remembering 86,400 logistics about flower types and table dimensions and vendor phone numbers.
You deserve expert help from a team of qualified professionals who have been doing this work for decades. Your team should be able to anticipate and navigate any wedding day challenge, stay meticulously organized, and never miss a detail. Your team should have an eye for classic, timeless event design. Your team should understand that professionalism can still be warm, personable, and fun. You deserve to work with a team that will handle every detail so you can remember every moment of your wedding day.
That team is Details and Lace, and we can’t wait to work with you.

Choosing Details and Lace as the wedding planner for my daughter’s wedding was the best decision I could have made.
Melanie will forever be a part of our hearts. She is nothing ...
short of outstanding.
She was first and foremost a calming source to my “nervous nelly personality” and the wheels behind planning the perfect wedding. She helped to create a fairytale that will always be the best day of my daughter’s life.
From the moment we started planning she took the time to listen to our vision and since paid attention to every detail.
She was patient, always sharing ideas while also accepting ours, attentive and all around a work horse.
She went above and beyond to ensure the wedding was all we hoped and worked tirelessly to ensure our guests had an amazing experience.
While we had a few hiccups along the way in the planning process (nothing on Melanie’s end), she was quick to find a solution, without showing the least bit of stress which again, calmed this mother of the bride down 😊
Being outside the Charlottesville area Melanie had to meet with me on many occasions to guide me. She always welcomed my visit and cleared her calendar to give me her undivided attention.
Together we went the distance to find the perfect vendor team to create the most magical day.
She has an abundance of connections in the industry and offered many options from décor vendors, transportation vendors, to venue choices for hosting our Welcome Drinks event and more.
She without a doubt was instrumental in creating the perfect wedding weekend.
I could go on and on, but I end with a final thought.
Melanie is a top-notch wedding planner and will now be, forever a friend.

Melanie and her team did an incredible job! I initially booked Details and Lace after my phone interview with Melanie because she made me feel so relaxed about the planning process...
and even helped me brainstorm ideas based off of my wedding vision. I felt confident that she would be able to handle all of the details and she and her team certainly delivered! We ended up having amazing weather for our March wedding, so she offered to move our wedding ceremony outside and was able to manage that flawlessly just two days before our wedding, despite all of our vendors being prepared for an indoor ceremony. She worked with all our vendors behind the scenes to perfect our timeline and ensure that everything was running smoothly. Melanie, Rebecca, and Cynthea were there on our wedding day and all of them were truly incredible. I’m sure there were some issues prior to and on our wedding day, but we had no idea if there was and thought the day was absolutely perfect! Melanie and her team made me feel so calm throughout the planning process and I couldn’t recommend them highly enough. Thank you Details and Lace!
Melanie was absolutely amazing through the entire process. She had great knowledge on planning, creative ideas to help make it even more special and managing tough situations that ...
arose along the way.
Her professionalism and attention to every detail allowed us to have an absolutely perfect wedding day! She was remained focused at every turn. She followed up on questions with clarity and promptness. As a parent of the bride, we could not have asked for anything better!
If you’re looking for a wedding coordinator, look no further! Melanie with Details and Lace is more than exceptional. Her dedication and hard work made our day more than incredible...
. From fixing a bridesmaid’s broken shoe to taking our vision and making it a reality, Melanie is the best thing you can invest in for your wedding day! She even went as far as to giving me the jacket off of her own back when I got cold during pictures. Our guests were also so impressed by Melanie’s hard work and bubbly personality. My husband and I would highly recommend Melanie with Details and Lace to anyone planning their big day!

the ball she was with literally every detail. You can put all your trust in her and her team. My wedding day was seamless and I did not have to worry about anything (and I’m usually a worry wort) Her and her team are super organized and they know how to make your vision come together! I 100% recommend them!!

nvaluable for big events. She gave us lots of great tips and advice on timing and logistics that we might not have known to consider, but primarily she was focused on executing our vision for the day. Pricing was reasonable, especially considering all the work and effort she puts in. We had a great experience working with Melanie and highly recommend her!
I echo Melanie’s previous reviews. She was the best decision we made! I was planning my wedding from afar but she was always willing to talk on the phone and kept meticulous notes...
about all the details discussed. She maintained the perfect ratio of stern and sweet throughout the entire day. From getting to the venue extra early to make sure things were on schedule to shoving a cheese cube and water in my face during photos, Melanie was absolutely perfect. I absolutely could not have done it without her and cannot express how wonderful she is. She worked far beyond what was expected from her rate and was exceedingly professional throughout the entire process. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!

eeting us at the venue when we came up to visit a few times before our wedding day, and was also available to speak on the phone when we needed to coordinate from afar. Melanie provided a great complementary wedding planning website service that went above and beyond what the Knot offers. I believe she was even added to our venue's preferred coordinator list. I would recommend her to anybody looking for a wedding coordinator!
If I could give Details and Lace 100 stars I would! Melanie did a fantastic job coordinating our fall wedding. I was a very laid back bride, and she really took what I wanted and m...
ade it a dream come true, even better than I could imagine by adding some details I would have neglected to think about otherwise. We also had a hurricane come through the week of our outdoor wedding, so we had to make some quick changes. You would not believe what Melanie did to transform our family farm barn into a beautiful wedding venue overnight! She paid close attention to detail, our budget, and kept me sane and relaxed through the whole process. The day of was wonderful, Melanie worked with my family to make sure everything stayed on time and worked out smoothly. She really does beautiful work, and was essential to making our day the best day ever!
