Beautiful venue, excellent service, an all-around wonderful wedding! We had our ceremony on the roof and our reception inside. The interior area is unorthodox with two floors and a staircase in the middle, we were uncertain about it initially but it worked really well and our guests had a great time! Service was attentive and very helpful. I was nervous day-of and could only eat the blueberries in my salad, they were more than happy to bring me a plate of just blueberries.
Our wedding was the best day of our lives and we're so happy with how it turned out!
We absolutely loved our August 10th wedding at the Detroit Opera House! The views were breathtaking from both the "Sky Deck" for our ceremony/dancing and the "Grand Lobby" for the dinner. We received so many compliments from our guests on the views, food, and overall wedding. The in-house coordinator, Lizzie, was fantastic - responsive and proactive throughout to make the planning process SO much easier. We also used their design company (Emerald City Designs), cake company (Morning Glory), and DJ (Todd Everett Experience), all exceeding our expectations. The day-of coordinators were truly amazing, ensuring everything ran smoothly for our wedding parties and family. We can't thank them enough.
Advice:
- Budget for surprise costs like parking and place settings.
- The decor allowance seems like a lot but is more limited thank you'd think, so plan accordingly.
- We recommend confirming the food & beverage deadline early on with Lizzie/your coordinator, as changes aren't possible after a certain point. This will help avoid any surprises later in the planning process.
Overall, we highly recommend the Opera House for your big day!
With love,
The Bladecki's
My husband and I got married at the Detroit Opera House on August 12th and had a great experience!
Holly from the Detroit Opera House and the Continental team were great to work with! We worked with Lizzie to plan out all of the details ahead of the wedding. She was very responsive to our emails and always open to talking on the phone as well.
On the day of the wedding, Adel was our event manager and Chloe was our coordinator. They were both amazing! Everything went so smoothly at the wedding and many of our guests told us it was the best wedding they’d ever been to.
The venue was a large part of what made the day so special. We had our ceremony on the SkyDeck, cocktail hour/dinner in the Grand Lobby, and afterglow back up on the SkyDeck. It was a great way for the guests to experience both the stunning rooftop views and the elegant beauty of the historic Opera House interior.
Absolutely thrilled how well our wedding went at the Detroit Opera House. We got married first weekend of September with the ceremony on the SkyDeck, dinner in the Black Box, and back to the SkyDeck for the afterglow. The planning process was great, the coordinator is very helpful. The vendors that come with the wedding package were exceptional, probably better than what I would've found for myself. And the day-of staff absolutely blew my mind with how flawlessly they executed everything. We had a lot of guests that also work in the service industry and they couldn't stop complimenting how hard this staff works and how professional everyone was. I can be a pretty stressed out person and I was completely relaxed throughout my whole reception because of how well the staff took care of everything. If it fits in your budget, I would recommend this venue to anyone looking for a great Detroit wedding experience.
I still cannot believe I was married here last weekend. The experience was a dream come true. The staff was very helpful and accommodating and had a list of recommended vendors available to help us with our journey. The wedding day was absolutely perfect, and they made it happen!
My wife and I had our wedding at the Detroit Opera House last weekend and we still can’t get over how wonderful the event was! Being able to experience both the Skydeck (for the ceremony and the afterglow) and the Grand Lobby (for cocktail hour and dinner) made for an amazing experience for both us and for our guests, who couldn’t stop talking about how incredible the rooftop views were and how opulent the interior was. I would highly recommend it as a venue for folks looking to provide their guests with a full city experience, as you can’t beat the location and history of the venue.
Couldn't be happier with our wedding at the Detroit Opera House!! The whole day was seamless thanks to Holly and the team from Continental. All we had to do was have fun and celebrate with loved ones.
As the bride and groom we truly got the VIP treatment, which we were so thankful for. Our guests loved the food, the view from the sky deck (roof) for the ceremony, and the elegant setting of the historic theater.
The planning process was extremely easy leading up to the event. Other than making some decisions, we didn't have to worry about anything, which made for a stress free experience.
The absolute perfect venue! Everything about having a wedding at the Opera House could not be better. The food, which is provided by Continental, was outstanding and there's plenty of variety for every type of guest. The communication, responsiveness and support from the staff was unmatched. The venue itself is stunning, timeless and elegant. It was also a great mix to have the cocktail hour outside on the roof deck and the ceremony and reception indoors for the guests to enjoy the beautiful grand lobby. One month out from the wedding and we are still being showered with compliments from guests about how seamless and lovely the wedding was.
Our wedding experience with the Detroit Opera House was nothing short of perfection! Leading up to the wedding, Rachel and Holly worked with us every step of the way and always responded almost immediately to any concern we had. Our provided day-of coordinator, Riley, was absolutely spectacular! Every part of the day was exactly as we had hoped. The venue was unique and beautiful, if we could do it all over again, we wouldn’t change a single thing.
My husband and I got married at the Opera House in August and we loved this venue so much! The Continential services staff were very professional and friendly the day of our wedding and helped out a lot. Our day of coordinator was amazing and helped our day go so smooth and answered any questions that we had while planning. The venue was so beautiful and our wedding turned out amazing with all the small details from the venue we didn't need much decorations. We would recommend having your wedding at the Opera House! It is so beautiful and the employees are amazing and so friendly.
Phenomenal venue that exceeds all expectations. From day 1 we were greeted by Holy and Danielle who were very responsive to emails and questions despite the fluctuations of the COVID-19 pandemic. As we progressed through the wedding planning process Danielle and Kate took on the roles of being our "wedding planners," not only providing us with recommendations for other venues but staying on top of all dates, documents, contacts, etc., so I had nothing to worry about the weeks leading up to the wedding. The Opera House itself is beyond stunning and the service they provide makes you feel like royalty. I expected something to go wrong, since often with weddings they do, but everything was literally beyond perfect. Their affiliation with Emerald City and Pro DJs made wedding planning so much easier and everything from the flowers to the decor was exceptional. Everyone at the Opera house was in our court in making the most magical wedding despite COVID, as they were all excited to host their first "big" wedding after the pandemic, with more than 100 guests completely awed by the experience. The catering was excellent and everyone raved about the food (we got the salmon, steak, pasta station, and two potato side dishes). Butler service was superb. We had Kate and Laura the day of attentively by our side in keeping everything timely, fun, and perfect. I still can't believe I had the wedding of my dreams and it was all because of the excellent team at the Detroit Opera House.
