DJ Chuck Boogie

I hired Chuck for my wedding and our initial conversation was good, but the second I gave him the deposit he completely stopped all communication for an entire month. He did finally respond when I emailed him on January 26th to reschedule our first phone meeting. He did not respond AT ALL until 2 days after our original scheduled meeting. His response was that we could reschedule our phone call to 5/20/23 - which is my wedding DATE!! In the same email he also asked me to text him 5 minutes beforehand so he “can be prepared”. By this point I was done and asked for my deposit back which he refused even though it was 3+ months before the wedding, and nothing in his email contract stated anything about a non refundable deposit. What was in his email contract however was the statement - “access to me to discuss & go over details via phone, text, email anytime.” Which was clearly false. I also want to point out that he did not send over a formal contract like all of my other vendors. His contract was simply his email stating he received the deposit, and listed some expectations on the day of and prior to for both parties. In order to find a mutually beneficial solution to this issue, I asked that Chuck refund me just half of my deposit in return for not leaving an honest review on here. Given his long response time, I gave him an hour to decide. He then emailed me back and proceeded to call me “Young Lady” and to tell me that that was blackmail and extortion. Neither of which is true upon consultation of my lawyer. He ended his last email stating that he dodged a bullet, but I’d say I dodged a bullet. Lastly - I understand the deposit was to hold the date. However I know for a fact from other vendors in this area that there is a shortage of vendors for the 2023 wedding season in Central Oregon. I have no doubt that Chuck will be able to fill 5/20/23, so that is not a good excuse to refuse me a refund - especially since he never stated the deposit was non refundable in the first place. OK, so here you have it - my review is that Chuck is unresponsive, unreliable, unprofessional, and greedy. I would recommend going somewhere else. P.S. He flagged my first and second review which caused them to be taken down until just now. But upon review of my receipts they were reinstated.
