Summary: DJ Connection is flawed in the fact I believe you should talk to your DJ before your event, not to the customer service guy who has nothing to do with your event. Our DJ messed up three songs throughout our event, which was a mistake t...hat shouldn’t have happened given the timeline that is supplied to the DJ and the customer with the songs listed very easily for each event. Our DJ did not transition to new songs when the crowd got bored of a song. We had several comments from guests that our DJ just wasn’t that great, which was disappointing.
Full Story: The sales team and customer service team are great in the terms they really know how to sell their product and make it sound way more incredible than it actually is. I met them at a Bridal Expo last year and they made everything sound so great. We booked them and then didn’t hear back until the week of the wedding (which was fine with me we had a lot going on). You only speak to the customer service team and not your actual DJ, which I think is a very flawed aspect to the company. They have an online portal where you can choose the songs you want played for all events throughout the day and also pick the songs you want played and don’t want played during the reception.
The week of my wedding a friend told me that her sister had DJ Connections at her wedding the previous weekend and they did an awful job. Just to name a few he was dressed in cut off jeans and a cut off shirt all night, microphones didn’t work for the ceremony or reception, didn’t move to another area of the venue when asked to move (and they had already paid extra to have him do this), and had left at 11:30 when they paid him to stay until 1. I was terrified of what my experience was going to be like, but it was the week of my wedding and I couldn’t do much about it at that point.
Our DJ showed up on time in leisure wear, but did end up changing into something more appropriate for the actual event. He set up a speaker outside for the ceremony and the music and microphones worked out great. During the reception we had picked out a song for our bridal party to walk out to and a different song for me and my husband to walk out to. He ended up playing our song for the entire bridal party, which really ruined the vibe when they had practiced to the other song. He also mixed up the song we had picked out for the Cake Cutting and the Anniversary Dance, which was annoying because we had picked a slow song for the anniversary dance and a more up beat song for the cake cutting, which lead to an awkward anniversary dance. So he messed up three songs that were very easy to read on the timeline that we had created with the customer service team at DJ Connection. He also wasn’t good about reading the room on when it was time to transition to a new song, which sucked because our guests got bored.
Overall not a terrible experience, but also not an amazing one. It definitely could have been worse, but it could have been so much better.
