It’s always so refreshing meeting a wedding vendor that truly just loves his job and genuinely wants the best for his clients. That was my first impression upon meeting Mark who will literally do whatever he can to turn your dance floor dreams to life. Mark really goes above and beyond for his clients and even offers to help plan your day outside of your music and lighting needs. He is willing to travel and will come as early as he can to setup and stay as late as he can to ensure that all of your lighting, speaker and music needs are met. Mark even came to our final walkthrough and helped advocate for us with our coordinator to make sure the caterer and venue were accommodating our requests. I can’t tell you how many people told my husband and I how much they loved our DJ after the wedding between his energy, playlist, all of the amazing uplifting he added in for the speeches, the dance party lights, and we received compliments about how friendly he was in the buffet line chatting with all of our guests. Mark is really the best out there and we hope we get to attend another wedding or event where Mark is the DJ as we really miss working with him already. Thank you for everything Mark- we appreciate you and your amazing work so so much!!

By far the best decision we made for our wedding! From the moment we booked him, DJ Maskell was helping out with every aspect of our wedding planning- from walking us through the ins and outs of what the day will consist of, to helping us think about our photography family combinations, and even being an editor on our ceremony outline in which he provided feedback and suggested changes, MULTIPLE times! He even asked if he could be a part of our venue walk through to understand the layout and to test the acoustics of the room. He met with us multiple times to get a feel for our music taste, and what type of party we wanted. He is a jack of all trades. On our wedding day, he did such an amazing job with the mics and sound during our ceremony. He brought the most amazing FUN party vibes to our reception, keeping the dance floor packed the whole night. The uplighting that he provided created such an awesome vibe which made you feel like you were rocking out at the coolest club. He was so attentive throughout the night, and picked up on all the subtle cues of me and my husband and our guests. Everyone totally raved about how amazing our reception and DJ Maskell were. He clearly has a great love and passion for weddings, and goes above and beyond to ensure your day is more than amazing. We could not have asked for a better DJ for our special day! I could go on and on all day about DJ Maskell until I am blue in the face, but bottom line is that you should RUN and book him immediately!

Mark is incredible. My Husband and I are so lucky we were able to have Mark DJ our wedding. Not only is he wonderful at what he does, he is just an awesome person. He was so much fun to work with. He thoroughly planned the music for our wedding with us. He understood our taste in music and made sure to include music our other guests would enjoy. He planned our music to fit pre-ceremony/ceremony, cocktail hour, dinner and dancing perfectly! He is incredibly knowledgeable of the layout and of the set up for the sound system for our wedding venue (River Side On The Potomac, also five star!). On top of playing great music, he provided up lighting, he has the best personality and made our wedding so much fun, he is also an expert at coordinating as well! I cannot say enough exceptional things about Mark. He truly is the greatest! We are so grateful for everything he did to make sure our day was special!

Mark was one of our favorite vendors. Not only is he an absolutely amazing DJ, but he goes above and beyond to step in as a photographer, day-of coordinator, decorator, and more - whatever you need, he was there for it. And, he is INSANELY well priced for all of the services he provides. As a DJ, he does an excellent job reading his crowd and incorporating the requests of the bride/groom while bringing in his own style. If you're looking for a DJ who you can give vague requests to and have him take the wheel and deliver perfection, this is your guy. For example, we told him that we wanted "vibes like you're sitting at a brewery" for our dinner, and he somehow interpreted that into an amazing playlist that had folks coming up to us all evening telling us how great the music was - and that was just for dinner! For the reception, he had super fun dance music that had even our shy flower girls out on the dance floor. He also did a great job hyping up the crowd for the bridal party entrances, which is a skill that I feel like is often overlooked when looking for a DJ. Another cool part about Mark is his uplighting system - he has a TON of uplights that sync to the music (!!) and create a really cool environment. He's super efficient with the set-up and break-down, and does an excellent job working with the venue staff to make the most out of whatever setting he's in. Mark can also play a ton of other roles in your wedding. When we booked him, he offered me an in-depth planning spreadsheet that I used during the year leading up to my wedding to keep track of vendors, decorations, music, and more. When it came time to work with my actual day-of coordinator to schedule our wedding day, I had literally everything I needed organized and ready to go in this spreadsheet. Mark also does a great job documenting the night when he has a free second - chances are, you won't have your phone with you on your wedding day, and you'll be dying to see some pictures! The day after the wedding, he sent me a picture that he'd taken of our last dance that has literally been my favorite pic that I've gotten from anyone so far. This had been a recurring theme that I saw in prior reviews before I booked him, and he definitely lived up to it. Finally, Mark is insanely well-priced, and he commits as much time as he needs to get the perfect job done - he doesn't nickel and dime you for every extra service he provides; it was a flat rate for the entire day and he would be wherever he was needed. He doesn't charge for adding things like uplights, fog machines, etc., which is something I did not see at any other DJ company that I talked to - he described it as "whatever we wanted that can fit in his car" was included within the same flat rate. Mark is awesome and I can't recommend him enough. He played a huge part in our wedding planning and wedding day, and you won't go wrong with hiring him.

Mark has phenomenal DJ and lighting skills and he helped to make our wedding the party of our dreams! His knowledge of the wedding industry was absolutely invaluable throughout the entire planning process. He thought of everything, down to the microphone set up for our officiant and timing our music to the very second. He also went above and beyond by cutting up our father/daughter dance song to shorten it a bit and it came out perfect! Thank you SO much, Mark!

Mark was incredible from the moment we first talked to him and through the end of our wedding reception. He is fun and also extremely organized and knowledgeable about weddings outside of just the music. He got a great idea of the vibe we wanted and then we trusted him to make it a fun party for our friends and family and he definitely delivered! Everyone was on the dance floor even at the end of the night and we were told by many friends that we had an epic dance party (someone even said they danced their shoes off). Markl also provided uplighting, which was a huge added bonus as our venue was a glass atrium and the lights added a lot to the space and overall feel for the wedding. Definitely recommend booking Mark!

Mark is wonderful! Not only is he a fantastic DJ, he also helped make the planning process so easy! The music was awesome and the lighting was phenomenal! Definitely hire Mark for your event, you will not be disappointed!

We couldn't recommend Mark enough!!! He is a vendor that is truly there for you and your big day. This is evident by the amount of time he spent meeting/helping us get all our details together, including awesome lights, and he even came to our venue walk-through and rehearsal to help make sure things would run smoothly. We never expected to have a DJ who could be such a great coordinator, but Mark was amazing in both roles. Mark was truly an amazing partner to work with. He really helped us feel prepared, comfortable, and ready to go! He provided guidance throughout the wedding planning process, helped us get out the door the day of the wedding, had an air pump ready to go when our officiant’s tire was flat, gave us day of reminders, kept the day on schedule and running smoothly as master of ceremonies. This guy can do it all! And of course, his DJing was great. The dance floor was packed all night and our guests had the best time dancing the night away with us! Mark took our preferences to heart and created a great atmosphere for all of our guests throughout the evening. MARK ROCKS! You have found your wedding DJ, look no further!

There are quite literally no words to explain how incredible Mark is and what an impact he had on our wedding, but I will try. Mark was easily the best vendor we used over the course of our entire wedding planning process-- he is so knowledgeable, helpful, fun and talented. His DJing, energy, lighting and overall experience were absolutely unmatched-- we received SO many compliments on the music and how he ran our wedding. Music, lighting and effects were so amazing he had everyone on the dance floor from the moment it opened until we had to end-- grandparents, college friends, young cousins, you name it, they LOVED the music-- a true skill to put together that kind of entertainment. Mark not only helped throughout the planning process with expert advice on our timeline, little details to remember and day of coordinating support, he truly knocked the sound and lighting out of the park. His experience and professionalism shines through-- the man knows what he is doing and will deliver on what you ask for, and if you're up for an adventure, he can even recommend ways to kick things up a few notches with lighting, effects etc. 1000/10 recommend hiring Mark for any event-- he'll go above and beyond, and bring his skills and energy to make your day the best.

I highly recommend DJ Maskell for any of your special events. My wife and I hired DJ Maskell to DJ our wedding, and he was AMAZING! He helped us plan what music should be played and he sent us a wedding template which was incredibly helpful with our wedding planning. He did did a fantastic job keeping everyone dancing and happy. Mark is easily one of our favorite vendors. He provides the ultimate dance party for an amazingly fair fee. Mark is very responsive, organized, and a great MC while also able to throw down an epic dance party. You will not find a better DJ! GO DUKES!

We choose Riverside on the Potomac for the wedding venue for our daughter’s wedding. DJ Mark Maskell was listed as one of the preferred DJs for the venue. We reached out to him and he already had a “soft hold” for our date by another bride. We were a little disappointed, but he said he would check with the bride and get back to us right away. Sure enough, he got back to us and said the other bride decided on something else and he was available. We put a hold down and made an appointment to speak with him on the phone. From the first conversation with him, we knew that we wanted to work with Mark. Riverside seems to be his “2nd home” and he KNOWS the venue! He has installed speakers in the Long Stable Gallery (where cocktail hour takes place) and he is kind enough to allow these speakers to be available to other DJs. Communication with Mark during the planning process was great! He always got back to us right away to answer our questions. He also sent us an awesome excel sheet to stay organized and communicate our preferences to him. And, the night of the event, he kept things running smoothly. My daughter and her husband commented that they felt like he was everywhere at once and did a great job of reminding them of things that they had forgotten about in the hustle and bustle of things (like going table by table to say "hi" to everyone and being in place for toasts and dances). Not to mention his awesome lighting throughout the venue & of course on the dance floor!!! Even the bride’s grandfathers (well into their 80s) commented on how awesome the DJ was and that they wished their old knees felt better so they could get on the dance floor! Our daughter’s wedding was during the pandemic, so dancing was spaced out, and some folks chose to dance right by their tables. Mark was that good that some of our guests wanted to stand up right where they were seated to join in the celebration. We would have no hesitation to hire Mark again for another event!!!

Mark was the best DJ we could have asked for! We talked to a few DJs/companies early on and no one was fitting what we were looking for, but upon finding and meeting Mark, we knew immediately that we'd be on the same page. He is extremely passionate about what he does and that is portrayed in the quality of work you get from him, from the planning and coordination, to the actual set up of lighting, fog, as well as the music and energy from him the day of. For our wedding, we wanted an outdoor, beautiful ceremony, followed by a classy (ish) cocktail hour and dinner that would transition into a reception where we could rage our faces off. Mark went above and beyond to help us achieve all of that. The ceremony set up was outside and everything went smoothly without issue in terms of music, mics/sound, etc. Come cocktail hour and reception, Mark was awesome in MCing, introducing us/our families/wedding parties, and continued being engaging as toasts were introduced. For our first dance, we decided to push until after toasts so we could remix an edm song and kick-off the dance party immediately after the first dance. Mark not only helped us with the remix of the song itself, but he also helped achieve this transition perfectly with the timing of his lights, fog, and overall set up. We were able to move from the first dance into a full blown dance party in a way exactly like we had imagined. From that point on in the night, the dance floor was always packed and from pictures, videos, and guest feedback, the room felt and looked more like an edm nightclub than a wedding reception, which was 100% what we wanted. We've had countless guests tell us that this was the most fun wedding they've gone to, that they aren't sure if they were at a music festival or a wedding, that the lighting was INSANE, and that the music was next level (we've even had multiple guests ask us for the set list), and we can only thank Mark for that! We are forever grateful to Mark for helping us achieve the wedding of our dreams, as we could not have done this without him. We can't recommend him enough!

Mark was everything I could of asked for and more! Not only was he an amazing DJ, but he helped me think through so many aspects of the wedding that I wouldn’t have thought of. It was like he was my DJ/Coordinator. Not only is he one of the kindest souls you’ll ever meet, but he’s genuinely passionate about his job and how your wedding turns out. I never had to worry about anything on the wedding day, because I knew Mark was leading the charge and he wouldn’t let anything happen! Not to mention, he put together an amazing playlist. My friends and family danced all night long. There was never a break on the dance floor. Guests even put in their Instagram caption, “here’s to one of the best wedding playlists of all time.” I can’t say enough amazing things about Mark! All I can say is Thank You, Thank You, Thank You! 10 out of 10!!

Mark was recommended by our wedding venue. When we met for an initial consult we felt very comfortable with him. I was a little worried because I wanted to have Arabic music played during the party, and let me tell you, Mark rocked it! He doesn't know the language but he did his homework and came up with a beautiful, trendy and very party appropriate play list, I was amazed! His MC skills are on point, very witty and funny. I was also interested in a special lighting, and he made sure to get it an install it so well, it made venue look even prettier! He promised a good time and he did not disappoint.

We can't say enough great things about Mark--he truly outdid himself! He went "all out" to make sure that we had the best lighting in the business, complete with fog machines, and our dance floor was PACKED all night! He did a great job of helping us plan details ahead of time, and came with lots of helpful suggestions that we truly appreciated. He also did an amazing job catching the "vibe" we wanted for our day, and his song choices throughout the night were spot on. He is more than just a DJ, and has a lot of insight into the planning process as well as how the evening should flow. He made sure that our guests knew what to do, where to be, and kept everyone entertained. Once it was time to dance, Mark kept the energy up all night and really nailed it by reading the crowd and adjusting accordingly. All of our friends have repeatedly said what an awesome party this was, and that it was the most fun they'd ever had on the dance floor. Thank you, Mark!

Mark was a gift! Not only did he essentially do everything we asked of him, he went above and beyond to make our day run as smoothly as possible. He worked really well with my coordinator to make sure we stayed on time, and even came early to help with set-up. We chatted a few times prior to the wedding day to run through the evening, and he was super helpful and fun to work with. If you want a DJ who will light your dance floor on fire and also help with the minute, behind-the-scenes details, Mark is your man! I'm so glad I randomly found him on Google!

DJ Mark Maskell was recommended to us by a friend who is also a DJ but was in our wedding party. So, we knew we could trust him and were not disappointed! He was excited, very nice, super easy to work with and he was really involved in the planning process which goes above and beyond his responsibilities. We felt so good knowing that Mark had a handle on pretty much every aspect of the day. He was always responsive via email and text and made the few in-person meetings we had with him fly by. He also went out of his way to attend a meeting with our venue because our coordinator was unable to. Our guests kept telling us that they've never seen everyone get on the dance floor right away and then never leave. He was great and I highly recommend him.

We were really excited about DJ Maskell (Mark) when we started working with him. He's enthusiastic about his job and definitely has a lot of experience. His price is very reasonable and you get a lot for it. He did a great job with our ceremony music (plus microphones for the officiant and readers) and our cocktail hour and reception music, which he tailored pretty well to our requests. The disappointment (and reason for the 3 stars) came during the reception dance party. Mark had sent us a template ahead of the wedding with sections for Must Play, Would Like to Hear, and Do Not Play songs. We filled this out over the course of a couple months and then had an hour long conversation with him a few weeks before the wedding about the flow of the day and what we wanted for music. We were excited about this because music is important to us and we didn't want lot of club/high school gym dance music - we wanted something that all generations would enjoy dancing to and we stressed that a lot in our conversations leading up to the big day. Unfortunately we got exactly what we didn't want. Mark respected our "Do not play" list pretty well, but only played two or three songs off our "Must Play" or "Would Like to Hear" list. My husband asked mid-way through for him to change directions back to what we had requested and he played one Backstreet Boys song (which we weren't particularly interested in) and then went back to "Shots" and "Yeah" etc. Overall we were pretty disappointed with this experience since Mark had set expectations that, while we knew we wouldn't hear every song we picked out and that there would be others thrown in from his own feel of the crowd, he would at least use our list and conversations as a guide and it seemed like he understood the vibe we were going for but didn't come through on it. As far as whether I would recommend working with him, I wouldn't go so far as to not recommend him - he did still put in a lot of work and did a great job with the rest of the day. But if you do work with him, make sure you're very clear about your expectations and ask that he hold to it or at least check in with you during the night to make sure you and your guests are enjoying the music.

I've been to several weddings with Mark as the DJ, and based on his amazing work, decided to use him for my own. He is an amazing DJ but goes above and beyond what is asked of him! He made sure everything was prepared and organized before the event and ran around and made sure everything ran smoothly the day of! He even managed to bustle my dress (with ease) when none of my bridesmaids could figure it out! If you need a DJ for any event, look no further!

We met Mark based off a recommendation from someone who attended a wedding he DJed at. This was one of our best decisions of the wedding planning. Mark had the dancefloor filled from the moment it opened until we had to leave the venue. In fact, the dancing was so high-energy, two guests ripped the seam of their pants on the dancefloor. Mark let us tell him what we wanted to hear but we also gave him some free reign. He knew how to make sure everyone had a good time. His lighting was also perfect. It beautifully and romantically flooded the reception venue when we entered and throughout dinner. Once the music started, he expertly used lighting on the dancefloor to get everyone in the party mood. These two services alone would warrant rave reviews, but Mark went above and beyond. We did not hire a wedding planner and Mark made sure to act as a pseudo planner. He helped us with timelines beginning with our getting ready in the morning until we closed down the event with specificity. He gave his opinions on what would work best based on his experience. And to top it all off, when our lighters for the unity candles at the ceremony were failing, Mark leapt into action seeking out an alternative lighter in the venue. He really wanted to make our day perfect and I can’t ask for more than that.

Mark was awesome. He not only had great equipment and personality, he was super nice to work with and very professional.
