DVCC was the perfect venue for our wedding! Whitney was a GODSEND. She was communicative, understanding, and made sure everything went smoothly on our wedding day. The staff of DVCC on our wedding day were nothing short of professional and polite. I enjoyed the outdoor ceremony space and the reception was a hit. Also, the venue's food was a HUGE hit with all my guests.
*A note to brides who book this venue: the conference room that serves as the bridal suite is right next to the women's restroom and next door to the lobby... intrusive friends and family WILL think they can come into the area if you don't put a sign up (apparently something about seeing the bridal party shift in and out tells them they can do that too)
The venue was beautiful and I couldn’t have asked for a more beautiful place for my ceremony. However, the staff was not helpful. Whitney was the wedding coordinator and she was difficult to get ahold of. She would promise things to my husband, mother, and me and then not deliver. There was also no one else to turn to, she was the only person we could talk to.
DVC was dealing with me for over a 1 and half for my wedding planning and they were professional every time. Whitney, the event/venue manager, was great. She provided the extra help my wedding coordinator needed to make our wedding a sucess. The food was awaesome, all plates were emptied. The scenery for our pictures was breathe taking. I highly recommend this venue for anything you want to host.
Not only was the venue beautiful, the food was AMAZING. Our outdoor ceremony had the perfect weather, and our wedding went without any hiccups. I cannot say thank you enough to Whitney, the day of coordinator. She went above and beyond for us and kept the day going smoothly; without her this wedding could not have been possible. I cannot recommend Dominion Valley enough. They are exceptional!!
We could not have asked for a better venue. We chose this location because they take care of mostly everything (we did have some friends help set up the gazebo and make sure the centerpieces/favors looked right), including food and alcohol. The wedding and reception went smoothly and Whitney was extremely helpful throughout the whole process.
Dominion Valley is definitely one of the most beautiful country clubs we visited, plus they’re great on a tighter budget (and that’s saying something for Northern VA during this day and age). Our coordinator was Whitney and she did a wonderful job keeping us on tracking before and during the wedding even when things didn’t go exactly as planned.
The only issue we had was that we didn’t have access to the whole club due to certain areas being reserved for members only, but even this was pretty minor. Fantastic food, fantastic staff, well coordinated, very clean, and very willing to allow us to decorate how we wanted to. Highly recommend!
We had a wonderful experience and it couldn't have been better. We were married outside by the pergola and it was a perfect backdrop. Ashley, catering and banquet manager, was responsive and did a great job. The food was amazing ... from the filet to the chicken to the eggplant parmesan ... everyone was so impressed with the delicious food. We thank them for helping make our day so special. P.S. The sparklers at the end were the perfect exit.
We had our wedding reception with 125 guests at Dominion Valley Country Club on May 19, 2018.
SUMMARY: We had many issues with the new Private Events Coordinator in the beginning, but our reception was perfect, thanks to Ben Gibson (our day of coordinator) and the rest of the staff at DVCC.
PROS: all-inclusive pricing (most packages include room rental, catering, alcohol, taxes, and service charge); large space; clean venue; beautiful scenery; delicious food; temporary complementary membership to gym/pool; accommodating service staff; good value
CONS: private events coordinator hard to reach; had to review/correct all layouts, timelines, and event order forms
DETAILED: There were several venues that met our reception venue criteria, and after touring all of them, we liked DVCC the best. When we sat down to book the date, the Private Events Coordinator (PEC) at the time informed us that she was leaving DVCC that week and they had not found a replacement for her position yet. We went over details, pricing, and signed the contract. Fast forward several months; I got an e-mail from Brittany Batcheler, introducing herself as the new Catering Manager/Private Events Coordinator. We exchanged e-mails and set up a date/time to have our tasting and detail meeting (where you go over detail choices, such as linen colors, and day-of timeline). When we arrived for these meetings, Brittany had double booked another meeting, so we were helped by Ben Gibson. He has been at DVCC for several years and was very accommodating/knowledgeable. We chose the BBQ package and tasted pork bbq, cold pasta salad, macaroni and cheese, fried chicken, grilled chicken, and fire roasted corn. We went over the timeline and details. Brittany met us after we finished and took the notes from Ben, saying she would be in touch with us soon. I’ll spare you the details, but we had many issues trying to coordinate with Brittany after this point. She was very hard to get a hold of and every BEO (banquet order event form – which is basically a bill/timeline for your event) was incorrect and inconsistent with our contract. We understood that Brittany was in a tough spot to be taking over contracts that somebody else wrote, however, things like pricing were agreed upon, written down, and signed by both parties. I spent many hours on the phone and in person with her trying to get everything sorted.
In the end, we requested Ben to be our day of coordinator. We dropped off decorations a few days before. Ben and his team did all of the prep work and the venue was almost completely set up when we arrived at 1PM (reception did not start until 7PM). It had rained all week prior, so we had to move our cocktail hour from the grassy spot near the golf course to the front foyer and under the covered driveway. It was enough space. Just like our tasting, the food was wonderful. We chose everything except the fried chicken (because we thought it would be too messy). We had it buffet style with cornbread/rolls on the buffet. DVCC did forget the cold pasta salad (my mom was the only one to notice this). Everyone raved about how great the food was. At the end of the night, we did the sparkler exit using DVCC provided sparklers. They were the long kind and lasted for more than enough time. While everyone was outside, the DVCC team started the breakdown and my family was able to take everything home that night. Our reception was great and a true testament to the hard work of all the staff at DVCC.
My husband and I got married at Dominion Valley Country Club this past July. We did both the ceremony and the reception together at the country club. Working with Elizabeth was a joy from the very first moment we met her in December of last year until the very end of our wedding. Elizabeth is professional, accommodating, and has a great eye for detail. I could not imagine a better event and wedding coordinator. The venue itself was just gorgeous and idyllic; the beautiful scenery is one of Dominion Valley’s biggest selling points.
Our wedding day was a combination of dramatic and entertaining. My time at the bridal suite went by very smoothly as we were showered with attention from the staff and enjoyed some nice food along the way. We decided to do a first look and that was just picture perfect. After the ceremony started, we had to deal with a small medical emergency halfway through it all, which temporarily interrupted things. The staff was proactive and caring throughout the entire process, helping to feed and entertain the guests and then sending them upstairs to the reception hall. Everything was normal after a little bit and we started the reception, finished the last parts of the ceremony, and had a magical first dance. Elizabeth, Taylor, and the rest of the staff were all amazing throughout everything that happened. The rest of the evening was incredibly fun and exhilarating. Our family and friends delivered some amazing speeches, we had a photo booth outside the reception hall, and the dance floor was packed full of people all night long. Several of our wedding guests said the food was the best wedding food they’ve ever had.
We will never forget the most special night of our lives, and we thank Dominion Valley Country Club for making it all possible.
PROS:Beautiful venue, good price, delicious food, and really nice staff. Our guests are still raving about how good the food was!
CONS:The venue has a high management turnover. We went through 3 managers in 13 months which created many challenges for us.I believe that they tried, however, some of our details were not executed as we had planned. For example, on the day of the wedding we found that the chair covers were not what my daughter had requested for them to order. Not a big deal to many perhaps but, there was no advance communication about it from the venue; we should have been presented with other options well in advance if what she ordered was no longer available. We do recommend this venue but suggest that you communicate clearly along the way and have someone dedicated to managing this task for you. I also strongly recommend that you contact the manager one week prior to review the details of the contract and your requests. They will not reach out to you so it is imperative that you do this if you are particular about even seemingly small details.
I cannot say enough great things about DVCC. I had my wedding ceremony and reception there in Sept. Everything was wonderful every step of the way. Kara was our wedding consultant and she did a wonderful job making me feel like I was her only priority. Everyone on staff worked really hard with us to help make our vision come true and it truly did. Not only was everything gorgeous, but the food was delicious we still have our guest telling us how wonderful everything tasted. Thank you again Kara for all of your hard work and thank you to Sally, Mona, and Dermott for all of your hard work as well!!
My experience with DVCC was great at the beginning. Preparation and their detail oriented and focusing on my need was great. However, my disappointed came in on my actual wedding day. Appetizer was only passed around first tables and never made to the other side the room (I had my guests telling me this). We paid for open bar, within an hour or so of my reception certain brand and beer rant out which was unacceptable. Our wedding cake was never served and I basically only took top layer of the cake and rest of it had to trash it. Overall experience was ok, however it did make me very upset on my wedding day.
I could not have asked for a more beautiful venue. Every single experience with the Dominion Valley Country Club for my wedding was handled perfectly. Deb Scott was amazing and made me feel like I was the only bride that mattered. Even with my high demands and there were many all of my request were met except for one, and that was because of the regulations of the country club.
The grounds are beautiful, Deb is extremely professional and flexible, the food is great, and the location is awesome. I would recommend the Dominion Valley Country Club to anyone that is looking for an elegant wedding! My guest are still raving about how beautiful our venue was!
We chose Dominion Valley because it offered me my dream of an outdoor wedding with a budget we could afford. We fell in love with Dominion Valley because of their flexibility, creativity, outstanding customer service, beautiful venue, and their ability to help me create my dream wedding. Deb and Dermot and the most friendly and creative people. They even allowed me to have my dog as our ring bearer! Nothing could have made me happier than to have my dog there. Thanks Deb & Dermot for a wonderful wedding!
Awesome
Our wedding was perfect. We were a little nervous at first because we went through three wedding coordinators. When we meet with Deb, she was fabulous. Everything we wanted or needed she was willing to do without questions. We received numerous compliments on the food. I would highly recommend this venue.
We were very happy with our experience at DVCC. It's a beautiful facility and the staff was always professional and helpful. We worked with Deb and we appreciated how prompt she was in getting back to us when we had questions. We would recommend DVCC for your event without hesitation.
We had our reception at Dominion Valley in March 2013. It was amazing! The food was fantastic. Deb (manager) was helpful and fantastic through the whole wedding process. The club worked with my limited budget. The staff was amazing during the reception, asking me when to serve food and making sure everything was done to our liking.
Dominion Vally CC was absolutely gorgeous and they handled everything Beautifully! The food was amazing!
Our guests raved about our food! The venue is gorgeous. Our ceremony was overlooking the 9th green of their course - perfect for two golfers. Everything was setup perfectly. We took pictures out on their gorgeous course - one of my favorites to play! Our guests enjoyed the appetizers and dinner was to die for! We are still getting compliments on the meal from our guests! Unfortunately, the A/C wasn't working properly in the ballroom so it was quite warm. Thankfully, when the sun started to go down and with the windows opened, the problem was solved. They did have to make a beer/liquor run as they did run out....might just be because of our family/guests. What a great night though!!! We'll definitely go back to enjoy a yummy meal again!
