I cannot recommend the Hilton enough! Every aspect of wedding planning was simplified with their experts there! Booking was easy for guests, and the venue is STUNNING!!!! The food was amazing! We did late night snacks too! We received compliments on the venue, food and alcohol choices. The Hilton is amazing! If you’re lucky enough to work with Jessie- she will handle every single tiny detail! 12 out of 10!
We could not have had a better experience here. Jessie was there every step of the way and made every request we had happen. We received so many compliments on the food, the portion sizes, the service, the bar, the overall look (very elegant) and so many more things. I can be picky, but every little request or change I had up to that day and even anything on the day of was met.
They also kept the bar (Beau's) open for us for an after party and when we added another 1/2 hour to our own open bar, it was seamless. I would recommend them 100 times over. We had about 250 people and the room looked huge and spacious. Dinner was served on time too.
The King Suite (with a door into the bedroom) was perfect for my girls and I to get dressed.. and they also gave us small conference rooms that they turned into "getting ready" rooms.. hair and make up for the girls and just hanging out with snacks for the boys. It was perfect and kept everyone from having to drive around.
They also use a very popular linen company for their own stuff, so it was super easy to add them for anything special. The spacing is perfect for a band. We couldn't have had a better day or more compliments if we tried.
I had my wedding party got ready for my wedding, and some of my family friends stay here, I totally recommended this hotel it is so clean, friendly staff, it’s was so close to near by the mall, hiking trails. Also my family hosted a brunch after the wedding on October 31,2021
Any questions?
We are so glad we had our wedding reception at the Hilton. Everyone was professional and the day went perfect. Jessie, the wedding coordinator, was extremely friendly and easy to work with. We cannot thank her enough for all her effort! Food and drinks were excellent, as well as all the extras they throw in that other places will charge you for. They really go above and beyond here.
The Hilton was an excellent choice for our wedding reception of 160 people; the ballroom actually accommodates around 400, so that is an error on this webpage. We worked with Mariah as Mary left during our planning period, but the transition was smooth and professional. The evening proceeded wonderfully and all guests had a great time. The rooms were fantastic - recently remodeled, and the pool was a great addition. Since we had many out of town guests and a certain number of hotel rooms booked, we were provided with a small meeting room with tables and chairs where our guests could gather in the interim and bring beverages and snacks. This was great! It was attached to the pool patio and the covered outdoor area was also fabulous for our guests to rendezvous. Really a beautiful reception.
The wedding package was great, we loved the options and getting to the minimum required price for food and beverage was easy.
I would comment that the fish option we tasted during our meal selection was out of this world, but that the night of the wedding, we were surprised at how it did not taste as good as we remember - we would not have chosen to offer the fish that was served had it tasted like that when we were deciding.
Cake slices were cut extremely skimpily and we were left with almost 75% of a 14 inch cake - we worked with West Side Bakery (and the cake was delicious) and worked to ensure that the estimated servings from our cake would be adequate - we ordered a cake to serve 160 but the slices were cut so small that probably 200 pieces could have been served; we felt it made us look cheap and having so much cake left over was not the idea.
Lastly, we requested for the napkins to be folded a certain way for formality, and while it is a small detail, it is one that I definitely noticed and wanted share - maybe that detail was lost in transition, but I wish I had clarified because having tent-fold napkins for a formal wedding reception is not as elegant.
Would definitely choose the Hilton if I could do it over again!
We really wanted a hotel attached to our hall as so many of our guests were from out of town. The Hilton is a beautiful place with a large room (over 300 guests can be accommodated) . We did get frustrated at times about a lack of communication. They were not clear about not being able to get in ahead of time to set up centerpieces (they were very clear they would not do them, but they had booked the room for a different event on Friday night. So we had to come up with a plan b) We also had to go to the hall to ask questions about using candles in centerpieces, when we would have to leave the hall, timing for the bar, etc. The Hilton has also had many other weddings/events that it was sometimes hard to have them understand when we decided to do something unusual or different. We would have to convince them that it really was what we want, which got frustrating.
We are absolutely glad that we chose the Hilton as our wedding reception venue (and we also had a brunch there the day after the wedding). Working with Mary was great – she’s so funny, and also really dedicated and hard-working. We really liked the way the Hilton does weddings – it was so nice to have one straightforward and succinct brochure that presented all of our options and the prices. It made it very simple to figure out how much the cost was going to be, and what we could add to get to the minimum price. It also wasn’t an overwhelming amount of options – Mary worked with us to have everything exactly as we wanted, but we were really grateful that the brochure presented all of the options and we knew what the possibilities were from the start. We also appreciated that the tax and gratuity are included in the prices on the brochure – that made it much easier to have a projected cost, as well. Everything went exactly as planned! The Hilton and our vendors all worked together to make sure everything went smoothly, and we really felt very well taken care of. Mary took care of all the little details and we felt very special! The Hilton staff were all so welcoming, friendly, and nice, too. We really liked that our out-of-town wedding guests could stay right at the reception venue, and that we could, too! It definitely made the evening less stressful and very enjoyable. The hotel is really nice – the rooms are updated, the lobby is very pretty and we think that it looks impressive when you walk in, and the ballroom looked beautiful. There’s also a really nice outdoor space off the lobby, as well. Having brunch there the next day was great, too. The Hilton was a wonderful place to have our wedding reception, and Mary is really great to work with!
Mary was fantastic to work with. She helped figure everything out for us, even helped us by recommending other vendors in the area. Our wedding turned out great and our guests couldn't stop saying how great the food was and how beautiful the hotel was.
Excellent and perfection. Mary McBride is wonderful and absolutely a gem. Always there for you. The staff was exceptional and the evening was flawless. The food was incredible and we received praise for it.
Amazing!!! We are so happy that we had our big day here and appreciated all of the help that the Hilton provided to make it flawless. From the chandaliers and very clean ballroom to the complementary suite and sandwiches at the end of the nights, every detail was perfect. Staff was lovely and food was very good. Our guests were in heaven. Special thank you to Mary. She helped us with every step of the way and was great.
The Hilton event staff really took care of every detail. It made the day so easy when all of the vendors were able to contact Mary to coordinate the setup time and places to go. All of the bridal party noticed that nearly everyone was eating when they were. One of the few places I've ever been to that the last table wasn't starving by the time food went around. Everyone commented how delicious the food was and the place truly was beautiful. I couldn't say enough good things about the event staff.
The hotel accommodations caused a few people to be distraught but in the end it worked out. I didn't have a place to get ready from 12-1 and the front staff was well, rude to say the least about it, stating furiously that check out was at 12 and check in was at 4 and that they had a big party, (mine, lol) there that night and were busy and hung up on me. Which would have been one thing, except when everyone went to get their rooms (at 6, well past 4) most rooms were not ready. By the end of the night everyone had their rooms and I was just glad that I didn't have to transport anyone between a venue and a hotel. I would certainly suggest clearing a place to get ready with Mary before the day of to alleviate a ton of unnecessary stress.
Lastly, we had a breakfast at the event the day after. The food was great and the staff very attentive. However, we paid by head and it was a hassle keeping non wedding guests out of our private room. Most people were courteous but a few people got in and got food before we could figure out if they were anyone's family/date.
I would give the Hilton a 6th star in this review if I could. I can't say enough positives to cover how happy we were with our experience. We loved working with Mary - she was very professional and made us feel very special that day. She was a true pleasure to work with throughout. Our guests loved the food and the service was excellent. The ballroom was just beautiful. It turned out just like I had dreamed it would. - Melissa G
Our guests couldn't stop complimenting the staff and service we received. Guests said "the food was amazing, not your typical wedding food." "the minute you thought of something staff was right there!."
Our amazing day couldn't have happened without Mary McBride!! She is a godsend when you are dealing with all the craziness of planning a wedding!
The Hilton was absolutely awesome. Mary was great to work with and always was quick to get back to us when we had questions. Also, I had so many people tell me how delicious and warm the food was. The only reason I didn't give 5 stars was because we had to rent our chairs and linens but other than that I would DEFINITELY recommend this venue. We were very happy!
Mary was awesome to work with, she tells it how it is and took the stress out of the reception. The majority of our wedding guests were from out of town making the Hilton the perfect location. The food was fantastic and it was the beautiful elegant evening I had dreamed about
We enjoyed taste testing dinner options and had a hard time deciding what we want served because everything was so delicious! We had 3 entrees and 3 side dishes, plus salad and fruit to kick things off. Everyone seemed satisfied. I wanted to keep eating! The service was friendly and made sure everybody had the drinks and food they needed.
The rooms were fine and the rate was decent, but setting up the process was disorganized and not friendly. Additionally, the bartender at the end of the night was not customer service friendly.
Mary did a wonderful job and made sure everything was perfect. I didn't have to worry about anything on my wedding day!
I can't begin to tell you how amazing our experience was at the Hilton. Working with Mary McBride and her entire staff was such a pleasure. Planning can be stressful but not once were we overwhelmed by them. Everytime I spoke with Mary we laughed and I felt at ease with every step of the process. They listen and care about every detail you are looking for in your wedding. The food and service was amazing. They truly care about you and your event and make your day amazing. This is the only place I would ever recommend someone to go for any type of party!
The Hilton in Akron/Fairlawn is WONDERFUL! Mary McBride is fantastic to work with! She is funny and light-hearted and makes sure she has everything under control so you can do nothing but enjoy yourself on your big day. She worked with all of our vendors to coordinate everything so I didn't need to worry about a thing - we just showed up and everything was beautiful! The food was fantastic, the hotel rooms are very nice (with a great discount for having your wedding there) and the location is great...easy access to 71 and 77. We love the Hilton and if we had it to do all over again, we would make the exact same decision!
Split the wedding party up, so we had complaints of being to loud. The bar staff was very rude. Breakfast in the morning was delicious.
My wedding was beautiful and the wedding coordinator was wonderful. She made sure nothing was missed. We planned and got married in less than three months. Mary was wonderful she took care of things I had not even thought about. Thumbs up all the way!!!
We had such a positive experience with Mary and her staff at the Hilton! Everything was so easy, straight forward and no hidden costs or fees. Mary also gave great recommendations on local vendors to use. She was always prompt in her responses to emails or phone calls. They truly made everything easy and painless for me and my parents.
Only complaint from guests was that the servers took the cake away too soon. Guests would get up to dance and then their cake was gone, never getting to eat any.
We booked w/ the Akron/Fairlawn Hilton b/c of its reputation and ability to accommodate our guests from out of town. We were also looking for a hotel w/ a bar to go to after the reception. We were told when we booked w/ the Hilton that they would block off a set of 10 rooms and when those were full, they would open up another block. They did not stay on top of this, and as the bride, I had several (like 15) phone calls from MY GUESTS saying they could not book a room b/c they were not available. We had to call the Hilton 3 times to resolve this issue. The general manager and operating manager, and wedding coordinator would not take the blame for this. It was a complete hassle. Even though everything turned out alright, it may not be worth the hassle for a bride to worry about something as trivial as the hotel.
The event coordinator (Mary McBride) was wonderful! She was so helpful and polite. The food was excellent.
The contact person was Mary McBride, and she was excellent in the way she handled everything. Mary gave us our room for the night free of charge with food drinks and dessert. For the reception the food was excellent and we were able to take home whatever was left. The reception had a real elegant feel to it which exactly what I wanted. The Hotel accomodations were very reasonable for our guest. Mary made it very easy to work with and she did exactly what she said she would do.;The day of the reception Mary was not there and the other staff members put very wrinkled tablecloths on the table. The staff was also going to take the food that I paid for and distribute it out to each other. We then asked could the food be boxed up since I paid for it. There was also not enough table settings. Working with Mary was wonderful. The other staff that is there when Mary was not there, weren't as pleasant.
