She provided recommendations when I was struggling with decisions for place cards, aisle decorations, etc. She simply made sure that I didn't have to worry about anything on the day of our wedding because she and her team were taking care of it. The food at the Doubletree was delicious and plentiful, which is often unexpected at a wedding. The Monaco ballroom, where we had our wedding, is located on the top of the hotel. In the evening with the curtains open, it made the room feel fancy with the glow of the city lights in the distance. A year later, we continue to receive compliments from friends and family about aspects of our wedding, such as the food, the room itself and how much fun they had. We also had a few out of town guests, so it was convenient to be able to offer guests a nice place to stay downstairs from the wedding.

planning a wedding but part of it that many people don’t consider is the person that will be in charge of organizing your day. Molly, Director of catering was the greatest person I could ask for when planning and organizing our wedding. She thinks of everything big and small. She replies to emails quickly, even when it’s a small and ridiculous question, what do the cocktail glasses look like, tall or short? Whatever we asked for she did it or got it. As the planning was happening, Molly was happy to speak directly to flowers and the DJ to answer any questions that they had and helped organize things for my day. I had brought in a lot of miscellaneous wedding décor the day before and she was happy to have it all put up exactly where I wanted. The day of, Molly made sure that with everyone coming in and out (DJ, flowers, photo booth, white dance floor, chairs, linen, ice sculpture) that it went in the perfect spot and everyone working for our wedding was taken care of. She made sure I was taken care of along with the bridal party, she was always insight or could be easily reached when we needed her. She has truly made our wedding experience awesome and effortless. Molly and the team went above and beyond just to make sure everything was perfect. The most important thing is that Molly did all of this with passion and care. The venue setting was beautiful. It was on the top floor with floor to ceiling windows on three sides of the wall. The view is gorgeous with the Chicago skyline on one side. You have the entire floor to yourself so guest can go into the foyer area and sit on the couches. You also have your own bathroom so that you are not sharing with the hotel guest, you even have your own elevator that takes you directly to the top floor to the first floor. For dinner, we had the duet plate with the filet and crusted Tilapia along with the gnocchi. We received so many compliments about the food and how good it was. Everything came out on time and was perfectly paced. Lets just say none of our guests went home hungry. The bartenders were amazing with always a smile on their face and seemed to be having a great time. The wait staff was very friendly and attentive. As the night went on Molly and the team made sure all of our personal stuff that we had brought (Champaign glasses, cake and knife) were put away in the back for us to pick up in the morning. I could go on and on about how great Molly and the Doubletree are. We continue to receive compliments from our guest about how great everything was and how much fun they had. A lot of the credit goes to Molly and the Doubletree team. Thank you for everything!

we knew we were in good hands! She was so helpful and had some great ideas. The hotel was super accommodating for all of our out of town guests, and all of the guests appreciated the free parking and outstanding hotel rates! The Monaco room is stunning with 3 sides of windows. The sun was starting to set during our best man/maid of honor speech and it was the most beautiful backdrop for our reception! They offer great packages and were able to customize some of our food/drink preferences. Having our wedding reception here was the best decision and their professionalism and experienced staff made it a very stress-free process. We enjoyed every minute of working with everyone at the Double Tree and would highly recommend it to any future bride and groom!

We were in the Monaco ballroom and before the sun went down you could see the Chicago skyline perfectly. The food was great, including the drinks and late night menu, we did drink the bar dry of jack daniels, vodka, and non-alcoholic beer (lot of preggers)! I can't say a bad thing about them, they arranged an amazing party and all my guests talked about how it was the best wedding ever!

plan annual conventions and conferences for a living so I knew what I wanted. From contracting to final bill everything just worked. I wanted to create a Winter Wonderland Wedding. Because of my line of business I had connections to get the decorations at cost or free but doing this way I needed to have Molly do the actual decorating the day of our wedding. I dropped off boxes and boxes of decorations a few days before, when I arrived the day of everything was perfect, Molly and her team actually went above and added more decorations they had at the hotel. My day of person, also a co-worker who works in the industry said he did not have to do anything when he arrived. He thought maybe he would be working hard because he knew what my expectations were but he said it was set perfect when he arrived. We used the top floor ballroom that is mostly windows. I did look at the larger ballroom on the lower level but I was not a fan of that space. The top floor is just lovely!

I would 100% recommend this venue to anyone looking for a great location to host an event!!! The entire hotel staff was the best! We had the most magical day and it was all because of them! We had everything we needed but, had something else come up there is no doubt in my mind that Molly and the Double Tree staff would have taken care of it! We will be staying there again!

my story. First, we are official believers that there is simply no bad day to be in the Monaco ballroom. We have seen it in snow, rain, and shine and in all cases the views are breathtaking and the setup elegant. I had 20 calls from my guests the following day from friends and family and a number of them mentioned that in all the weddings they've been to this was the most beautiful. You will also notice that the following day, your friends and family start changing their Facebook profile pictures with photos in the ballroom (especially with the skyline in the backgroud). The food was incredible, appetizers were passed to our guests, the variety was perfect and the bar was really easy to get drinks from. We opted to have lighting in the prefunction space and the ballroom from the hotel. They have tons of different lights to choose from and the one they gave us matched the decor perfectly and added to the ambiance. This hotel gives your guests a choice of two main courses, or vegetarian if your guests so choose. We opted for the chicken with brie and apples or wood top sirloin with bleu cheese. There are a bunch of options though, up to and including duets. I hired Hawaiian dancers to perform at my wedding. The idea was a surprise for my wife and only Molly, the hotel's catering manager knew about it. Molly executed the entire plan without any of the 190 guests knowing about it before the dancers walked out into the ballroom. Her attention to detail and willingness to take the wedding to the next level was amazing. She is incredibly proud to create unique wedding experiences. Molly helped with our setup, gave us ideas for a candy bar, met us the afternoon prior to perfect the wedding. Oh, and she was in contact with all of our vendors. I literally showed up on that day and had my wedding, everything else was somehow taken care of for me by the hotel. I couldn't ask for more in this whole process. We had awesome food, the most gorgeous ambiance in the north shore, happy guests, and an awesome bridal suite. My kudos to this hotel and their expertise in social functions. ur room block that were supposed to be available until a certain date. However, when many many of our guests tried booking rooms, they were told there were no more available, unless they wanted to pay double the price! So obviously there physically were rooms open, they just were not giving any more rooms at our rate, 2 weeks before the booking deadline!! It ended up being an awful experience and many of the people we dealt with on the phone were rude and basically said they could do nothing. We eventually gave up after 2 weeks of arguing with their "booking manager" or whatever she was and several others on staff. Our guests ended up having to stay at other hotels which was very inconvenient and made us look stupid because we told all our guests they had until a certain date (that the hotel gave us) to book their rooms that the hotel did not honor. We were also disappointed with a few things at the reception. Overall, the room did look beautiful and our guests would not have known the difference. However when we spent time going over every little detail and making decisions to make our day just the way we wanted it with the coordinator we were working with, it was VERY frustrating things were wrong! For example: 1. The napkin folds for the menu cards were not the ones we chose (which made our menu cards look silly because they did not fit the napkin folds they actually gave us)...I spent ALOT of time finding and making the menu cards to fit in the kind we chose and they were wrong! 2. Our chicken dish was not presented the way we were told it was and looked cheap. We later found out some of our guests had a different kind than we had ordered...some got chicken kiev and that NOT our selection. I can't imagine why everyone didn't get the same meal, we had the correct amount of people there, so they couldn't have run out. 3. The sweetheart table cloth was wrong. We specially ordered one that would have looked beautiful, but yet they gave us one that was the same as the guests table runners with a huge seam in the front of the table...it looks SO TACKY in all the pictures of us at our table. 4. We were promised someone would be in the lobby to guide our guests to the correct elevator and there was no one there. 5. We were told that we (bride and groom) would be able to see the room alone to take everything in before the guests were let in, but that also did not happen. 6. Our specialty cocktails were supposed to be passed during the cocktail hour and I had to remind them 3 times before it was done. I would not recommend the Double Tree North Shore for a wedding reception. No one seemed to know what the heck they were doing and too many mistakes were made on their part. I see they have some really good reviews since my wedding was there, so maybe they got their act straight after we complained, but I wouldn't take my chances.

They were extremely easy to work with, provided excellent follow up, and made sure to pay attention to the finest details to ensure our wedding day was a success. The reservations for our guests at the hotel were easy to make and the front desk team was extremely welcoming and friendly. We had a few special requests for some guest reservations and the front desk followed through on all. Also, we dropped off gift bags a few days prior to the welcome all of our guests and all were delivered without a hitch! Now, let’s talk about the food and service…..fantastic! For weeks after our wedding, our guests were raving regarding their main entrées and even the Hors d’oeuvres. We offered our guests filet or chicken wellington and both were mouth-watering. The banquet servers and bartenders were particularly attentive and provided impeccable service to our guests. We would highly recommend this Doubletree for any kind of event, especially a wedding. It was a breeze to plan our wedding in just 6 months with the help of Mariel :) We had a dream wedding! Thank you!

cago on a clear day. I had visited so many ballrooms with bad carpeting and low ceilings, that almost felt like a cave. This bright, beautiful room was perfect. My catering manager there, Rachel, was very helpful and executed anything we needed flawlessly. The food was delicious, as were the drinks. The only negative thing I can say about the wedding itself, is that the foyer that we used for the cocktail hour got a little stuffy and warm with 145 people crammed there, but from dinner on it was perfect temperature. We did have a couple issues with the front desk as far as guest rooms. They were booked full, but my parent's room had broken AC on a 90 degree day. They were not very flexible or willing to move them. They had told us the hotel guests in our room block would be on the same floor, but due to how busy they were, they were scattered throughout the hotel. They did accomodate requests like adjoining rooms. We also had some homemade treats that we put in our welcome bags, that disappeared while they were sitting behind the front desk. These issues had nothing to do with the catering team, but be aware if you book here so you can discuss it up front and make sure it does not happen to you.

The food is really good and according to my guests, the bar was very amicable! We had also our rehearsal dinner the nigh before and they where really helpful. The people were allowed to stay in the Venice room until they wanted to leave and everything was always on time and implacable.

tact there left and then spammed me from her new position at a different hotel! I worked with at least four people there, and everyone gave me conflicting information. I had no "point person" which was frustrating, and nobody seemed to know who was in charge of room blocks. -Even though we had booked rooms at least six months in advance, several of our guests were told they could not check into their rooms until 8 or 9 pm because the rooms had been given to pilots under some sort of partnership program. This was extremely inconvenient and they offered no explanation. I had to deal with this about an hour before the rehearsal, when I should have been getting ready. -Not all of our guests received their out-of-town boxes, which we paid extra to have for them at check-in. -We booked a suite and were very disappointed in it. It was not much larger than a traditional room for about double the price.
